Came out to this area for dinner and noticed this gem of a place after our group finished dinner. After being stuffed full we still embarked on this ice cream adventure and it was well worth it. Loved the window service here. You may think this would create a barrier of sorts, but chatting it up with the owner was great. The flavors all looked great, but what sold us on what we all got were the shakes. Shakes come in vanilla or caramel and with an added bonus if you tip and ask nicely. And it’s definitely worth it. Kevin, the owner, is freaking awesome! Support this man and make a visit here.

The John Wayne ice-cream with caramel is delish! Fresh pecans with bourbon, how is that not heaven?!? And the service is great too… owner will sit and talk stories with you.

The vanilla shake was simple and delicious. I liked how you walk up to a window to order. Super friendly staff. Love the location in OC!

they make all their ice cream fresh in house with their very own vanilla extract! The ice cream sandwich is incredible, made with house made rice crispy treats, a real treat. The banana pudding, the John Wayne, both great choices. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest!

This has to be the best ice cream not only in Oak Cliff but the best in Dallas. I never got to try it at the trfuckyard but glad I did try the Jefferson location. I had the ice cream sandwich. Rice crispy /coco pebbles or something was the cookie. The ice cream was the definitely the main component even though the rice crispys were great. Fresh scoop of ice cream was so good ! Literally some of the best ice cream ever. Don’t try an order a strawberry shake.

Love the ice cream(love Nutella and anything with peanut butter!!) but seriously for me, the chili dogs kill it! Best chili hands down in Dallas plus great toppings. Great lunch or dinner if you want to truly cheat on your diet. Amazing!

Window service here. Eclectic flavors– we’ve enjoyed the banana pudding at their Truck Yard location. Today we had John Wayne(KY Bourbon with pecans!) & the piña colada. Both excellent. They don’t have cones(yet?) so it comes in these little tubs frozen pretty hard but it softens quickly in the TX heat. If you’re catching a movie or performance at the Texas Theatre definitely stop by!

We ordered Sailor Jack, Nutella and a root beer. We thought the ice cream would be scooped and that’s why we tipped. To our disappointment it’s prepackaged. The ice cream looks like it melted into the bowl and then was placed in the freezer. My ice cream had the beginnings of freezer burn. I couldn’t taste the nutella. Wasn’t what I expected. The sailor jack flavor was much better. The only seating available was one table with 4 seats. There were two mismatched chairs propped up against the business next door. I wasn’t sure if they belonged to Carnival. We sat on a bench by the street that belongs to the city. I’m with another Unilocal reviewer. The prepackaged ice cream, bland taste, lack of seating isn’t worth the price or trip for me.

So after reading both the positives and negatives we finally decided to stop by and check it out. It was amazing! I had the rice krispee ice cream sandwich with homemade vanilla and my wife had the s’mores ice cream. Both were very smooth and the burnt marshmallow taste took me right back to camping. The service was great as well and the owner is one cool guy. A local Dallasite who gave great recommendations.

I LOVE ice cream. It’s my desert-island food. I seek it wherever I go, in all its forms, looking for the best. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it here. Oh don’t get me wrong, it’s OK ice cream. Clearly hand-made locally, but I’ve had way better hand-made locally ice cream before many times. I love the concept, and I appreciate the dedication and spirit of the owners, that’s why I gave it 3 stars. But the ice cream for the price just isn’t that good. 8oz of pre-packaged ice cream, cash only, with nowhere to sit for $ 5 just isn’t worth it to me. In the DFW area, the best I’ve found so far is Melt in Ft Worth, which is not only worth the prices, but worth the drive. I get a bunch and bring it home. Either that or I make my own. Not sure why amazing ice cream is so hard to find in Texas.

Stopped by tonight for some tasty ice cream on a humid Dallas night. The staff was friendly and informative. He was able to suggest his favorite flavors and tell us all about the process. Very cool by the way! Everything was freshly prepared in their kitchen on site and frozen in their ice cream makers, Bonnie and Clyde(his words, not mine). There were four of us so we each got a different flavor and shared. They are served in an 8 oz cup, but unfortunately no samples available. We had the John Wayne(bourbon vanilla with pecans), strawberry, ET Phone Home(buttered flavored popcorn with Reese’s Pieces), and a butterscotch cream soda float. They were all delicious and so very creamy. The bourbon made itself known in the John Wayne and the pecans were fresh. The Strawberry tasted like the most amazing strawberry shortcake I’ve ever had. The butterscotch float was like sucking on the hard candies your grandma always had around. Not really my thing, but my sister loved it. So, let’s talk about buttered popcorn flavored ice cream. Wowza. It tasted like, buttered popcorn without the crunch! It was tasty. I was such a skeptic! Shame on me. They pop the corn in the shop, then pour the ice cream batter over the popcorn to get this incredible, taste bud confusing concoction and then mix Reese’s pieces in with it! Seriously. Drop the mic and walk alway Carnival Barkers. You’re doing it right.

Best ice cream in the metroplex. Love it. The ice cream sandwich and the chocolate bananas are my favorites.

Carnival features creative items such as its Australian root beer floats, and poptart and rice crispy ice cream sandwhiches. They even make their own vanilla extract. It’s a great treat for when you are walking around Oak Cliff.

Had heard good things about this place but never found myself at the Truck Yard so I was intrigued when I heard they were opening up closer to home in the OC. Cash only right now, not sure if that’s going to change in the future. It’s a walk up window and the ice cream is served in pre-packed 8 oz. containers. I had the cookies and cream. It was pretty good. They obviously use higher quality ingredients and high butterfat so that the ice cream is luscious without coating your mouth and giving you a weird aftertaste like cheap ice cream. But, wow. 5 dollars for half a pint?! I’m all about paying a little more for something good, but if I’m going to pay that much without it being hand dipped or with a cute and cozy place to sit I want my reaction to be «Holy Crap, this is good ice cream!» Not, «it was pretty good.»

Glad to see that Carnival has opened up a brick and mortar store in Oak Cliff! They just opened and apparently are going to be operating 24 hours for a few days. So get yourself some ice cream at 3 am! Current flavors include cookies & cream, vanilla, nutella, an strawberry. Pure, simple and well-made ice cream. 8 ounces for $ 5. Nice way to cap off the night after drinks and snacks at Small Brewpub. =) Cash only(for now?)
