I had not been here is a couple of years, since I retired from work in downtown Dallas. I live way north of Dallas, and did not even realize the restaurant was still in operation. Later I found out differently, but unfortunately I had heard that there were changes, and I wasn’t too sure I wanted to make the drive for disappointment. I had found a restaurant closer to my home, and while it never compared to ‘The Catfish Connection’, it was okay. Well, I recently had a large party at my home, and wanted a variety of meat options. At the last minute I thought I would include fish. But I did not want just any fish. So I took a chance and ordered from the restaurant, and my husband drove down to pick up our order. OMGoodness! The fish was as awesome as I remembered: spicy, crunchy, delicious!!! I was so pleased, especially because many of my party guests(some who live much closer to the restaurant than I do) had never eaten there. The fish was the first to go! I cannot wait to get back to order just for me! But I do hope that my party gave the establishment some new customers. I know they will be return customers! I am glad I went back to ‘The Catfish Connection’. I’ll never settle for«okay» again. And folks, if you have heard anything disparate about alleged changes to the restaurant, find out for yourself, and just know that the fish is still THEBEST!!!

The fish is okay. Overrated. The lady that works at the food truck with the bad skin, she’s rude. Who yells at their customers? I had a camera and was recording everything I did that day and she went berzerk! She even called the cops on me because I filmed her in a public place which is totally legal. The other workers at the truck thought it was funny and laughed the whole time… UNPROFESSIONAL!!! While the food is okay, i’ll never be back. This is why black people can’t ever have a reputable business. Very unprofessional.

I love it. Got a 3 piece catfish meal spicy. It wasn’t 2 spicy but great. I don’t like the tartar sauce ATALL but it’s so fresh. The to go container was filled with fries, pickles, 2 slices of bread. Then the 3 pieces… U get 5. I thought it was a damn fluke so went bk 4 my friend and got another. Same 5 pieces of catfish for the price of 3. Recommended 2 anyone. It was 9.95. I added 4 hush puppies for 2.00. Delicious

This place is just an ordinary hole in the wall but let me tell you don’t let the look fool you. Their food is so delicious! The people that run the place are super nice. The wait for us was around 10 minutes but that is because everything is cooked fresh. The fish was super spicy and good and so was the shrimp and they give you a ton of fries & lots of peppers and pickles with 2 slices of bread. The portions are huge so 2 or 3 people could eat off it. We will be coming back.

It took exactly 40 minutes at the food truck to get a shrimp po’boy. At one point there was about 20 people waiting for our order and nobody in line to make orders because it was taking so long. When I finally get my son’s po’boy, they had given me the spicy one. Extremely disappointing.

We were looking for another catfish lace but could not find it and man I happy to have gotten lost and found catfish connection instead! I agree with others when described as a typical hole in the wall, to-go type go place. We ordered catfish nuggets and fillets. All orders come with French fries, pickles and bread. The fries are hand cut and amazing. Fried just right! I like a good mixture if crunchy ones with some soggy ones mixed in.lol.our fish was the mild style was a little worried about trying the spicy. It was really good. Bothe the fish and breading was seasoned to perfection. Now for the unlikely star of the plate… the tarter sauce! I’m not sure what the put in it but it’s damn good! It does have a kick but nothing too crazy. We ordered way to much food as the portions are massive. Everything was hot and fresh. Which brings me to why the lack of a star. While I loved and appreciate that everything is fresh, please please let people know a true wait time on their food. I called in our order and was told 20 – 25 min. No big right?! That’s until it turned out to be an hour wait! I will say it was worth it and the next time we are in south Dallas we will return.

If you don’t like Cholesterol, Carbohydrates, or Fatty Foods, this is NOT the place for you. If you want side dishes, a place to sit and eat, and you want to leave your car unlocked. This is really NOT the place for you. BUT if you want some REALDEALGOOD A$$ CATFISH this is the spot. And remember the name of the place is Catfish Connection so catfish is all you are going to get. No chicken, shrimp, pork, or beef. Just good A$$ catfish and fries. Note: to the rookies that don’t know about true southern Cajun style catfish. The cooking style is just for catfish. Not Tilapia, Bass, or any other fish. It’s going to be spicy and just a lil greasy but Catfish Connection dose it the best.

Now I’ve been coming here for 13 years and I haven’t been in about 2 years but I’ve noticed some changed that are mixed. The fish isn’t prepared fresh. I ordered a 3 piece and the food came out in 2 minutes which led me to believe it was already cooked. Than I ate it and my beliefs were confirmed the fish and fried were cold. I ordered spicy fish and it was mild and I was just amazed at the change previous ownership to the present. The only plus I can say was the tarter sauce it was absolutely awesome hence the 3 stars. If it wasn’t for the tarter sauce I would give this place 1 and a half stars.

Catfish Connection is a spot that I could go to every day. I love fish, and I love spicy foods… CC is the perfect combination! It’s located on the corner of Kiest and Hampton at the end of a strip of shops. It’s basically a take out spot, but there are a few tables inside, but not too many… maybe 2 or 3. I ordered the fillets. These meals come with fries, bread, pickles, and peppers. The fish was fresh and hot. The breading has a little kick to it too. It’s one of those slow burns that you feel around your lips and in your mouth a few minutes after you’ve been eating. It was perfect! I’m normally not a fan of tartar sauce either, but this was the perfect recipe. filled with spice! When I got my box, I got the bread, put on some pickles and tartar sauce, and stacked up some fish on top and make the best fish sandwich that I’ve had in a while! I just finished eating it a couple of hours ago, and I’m starting to drool again while I type this! While this food is awesome… I probably only need to make a visit here about once a month… it’s pretty heavy, like any fried catfish meal is. I think that I read on someone else’s review that this was a cash only spot… that’s not the case now. They do accept VISA and MC, so if you don’t have cash on you, don’t fret… you’re still good to go! Whenever I used to get a catfish craving, I used to go to Floyd’s…but now, I have options! Catfish Connection is probably going to be the option that I choose the most from now on! Mmmmmmm… spicy!!!

FABULOUSFABULOUS!!! We ordered a 4 piece fillet. We told them it was our 1st time so they gave us extra fish and drinks. I enjoyed the environment. Every one was nice and friendly. The fish is fried when you order so it’s fresh. Next time I will order the spicy. The fries are home made and so is the tarter sauce. I don’t like tartar sauce but I liked this. No complaints. I can’t wait to come back. I will recommend this to everyone. WAY better than Catfish Floyd’s

My first time honestly and my last. Great good vary poor service. They are vary poorly structured, organized and managed. If you have an hour or two to wait on your food then this place is for you.

This is the place!!! If you want really good catfish this is the place to go. It’s worth driving a long way to get to. I really don’t like tartar sauce but they have a spicy tartar sauce here that is out of this world. They have a lunch special that’s only $ 5. OMG you can’t beat that. And it’s more food than one person can eat for lunch. I almost gave them 4 stars because it takes a long time to get your food. My suggestion is to call them ahead. It takes 20 minutes to get your meal. No question it’s worth the wait though. I can see myself eating here once a week. Enjoy.

We are at the opera simulcast at Klyde Warren Park, with their food truck parked here. It took 90 minutes, that’s right, an hour and a half to get our food order after paying. The fried ribs are tasty! The shrimp po boy I tastes great, but surprisingly, the shrimp shells were not removed before battering, frying and stuffing into a sandwich! Not fun to bite into unshelled shrimp and need to disassemble the sandwich and do it myself. The fries were seasoned great, but were very undercooked(white/barely cooked) and greasy, likely oil temp too low, could only eat 3. Expectations were understandably higher given the extreme wait! $ 8 for fried ribs, $ 9 for sandwich. Conclusion: almost great food, but total fail on execution. :-(

Catfish Connection is exactly what we were looking for. The catfish is sooo good. The seasoning is terrific; the fish is cleaned well — no muddy taste, and the sauce is spicy goodness. Yum. I hate to tell the other folks that reviewed this place, but it is most definitely not in the ‘hood. The neighborhoods around Catfish Connection are solidly white-collar professional neighborhoods. So no worries when coming here. It’s quite safe!

Was not expecting this. Their food truck was set up in front of my apartment complex yesterday and I was too lazy to cook dinner, so I said«why not». Most of the fried catfish I’ve had in my lifetime basically consisted of thin catfish filets, breaded and fried to the point where they were dry and required TONS of tartar sauce and beer to take it down. This was not typical catfish. Thick filets, breaded, seasoned, and fried to perfection. The meat was tender and flaky, while the outside was nice and crispy. Props to the deep fryer and chef. For me(a self admitted WIMP when it comes to spicy food), it was a little spicy, which means it’ll be ok for the rest of the world. It comes with fries, which were ok, nothing spectacular. I also ordered a batch of corn fritters, which were tasty as well. By the end of that meal, I was happily stuffed.

My husband got a catfish basket from their food truck while at a gallery walk. He proclaimed it the best catfish he’s ever had! I really liked the seasoning on the fries. It was salty and sweet somehow. The fish had nice seasoning. The buttered toast was nice and crispy.

This is your typical hole in the wall ~ In the hood ~ Cash only ~ With a limited menu ~ Limited Seating. That Said !!! ~ This is some of the best tasting catfish in the metroplex ~ Very well seasoned(Not Salty ~ Fried crispy). With every third restaurant serving catfish ~ I will go out of my way to get to Catfish Connection. No Frills just damn tasty fish.

I’m going to echo a previous reviewer and say that this is hands down the best fried catfish I’ve ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly and was flaky and with good texture. Not at all mushy as is the case with other joints pawning off frozen or subpar fish. The breading, oh the breading! This can stand on it’s own and was a wonderful mix of cornmeal and spice. Fries were excellent, and it’s nice to see fresh cut fries that aren’t soggy. The spicy tarter sauce was a perfect compliment. Well done Full Review:
