Chango Botanica is about belief… I think it’s interesting to see so many types of beliefs all in one store and it can throw you back when you first step into the place. I stopped by to see what the fuss was and immediately felt overwhelmed by the place. Perhaps it was the patriarch who has recently passed watching over his sons. I think they have just about anything you can think of related to any religious belief system… tons of candles, oils, incense, bottles of «oh my what in the world that is that?» the son told me they also do readings here if you’re into that kind of thing. I’ll have to say that you shouldn’t play with things you don’t understand and this isn’t some place you would go to make a joke. You get the feeling that very serious people full of belief come here to get their service needs and I believe that faith in anything can give it power. If you add those two things together… this is a pretty powerful place. Whatever your spirit guide they will be able to help you, I could tell the son intended to carry on his fathers work and stay right in the heart of Oak Cliff. I wish them all the luck as the world around them changes.

This was a neat place, especially if you are into religious candles, herbs, bath washes, figurines, voodoo. Swear to gawd they had voodoo dolls. I’m not really into that stuff, but to not tempt the spirits I didn’t joke about any of it while browsing through the store. I bought two little Buddha figurines for about $ 2 a piece, and a scented candle that is supposed to bring me money. Cha-ching. I didn’t win the lottery last night so I’m not too sure that it’s going to work, but if it does, I’ll let y’all know.
