We had bought a groupon for couples cooking class for $ 100.00. We had the owner Brigette come to our home to learn how to make chicken piccata, shrimp scampi appetizer, pasta and a chopped salad. The best thing is that she brought all the food, cooking tools, pans etc. and did all the dishes. Loved that convenience. She also gave us tips on where to purchase pans and knives at a reasonable price. The shrimp scampi was divine. I only wished she brought a baguette to soak up the lovely white wine, garlic and butter sauce, The piccata was excellent. She gave a great tip about deglazing the pan with slices of lemon. It had simple ingredients but she gave a lot of tips and tricks that I am using on a frequent basis. Who knew grating garlic would dissolve in my dishes but leave the flavor. The angel hair she prepared was a light Alfredo sauce. I loved the idea of using chicken stock to lighten it up. Oddly enough, I loved her chopped salad. Nothing fancy(I was surprised she used bottled creamy Italian, this was after all a cooking class), chopped ice berg, chopped tomatoes, avocado but to my delight, fresh mozzarella pearls. I had never had the pearls before. It was the bel gioso brand and they sell it at my Walmart on 190! Those little suckers mixed in to the chopped salad were divine. The best tip was drizzling balsamic glaze on the salad. Best tip ever, reduce the balsamic vinegar for 20 minutes on low and voila, a lovely glaze to put on this salad or bruschetta. Brigette was clearly passionate about her career. It was so lovely to have her cooking in our home. Now if I can figure our how we can splurge again and have her teach us even more. I would highly recommend she cater for you or take her cooking class!
