The Most amazing happy I found this place, and gladly call it home. Moved to Dallas from Florida and switched from another gym to Big D, coaches are awesome, programming is unique, seriously the best place ever.

I have been training at Big D for the past 2 months and I am happy with my progress. I found that the thing is with Crossfit is that it is licensed out so each gym depends highly on the people running the gym. I had tried a few other gyms in the area who promoted on Groupon. They never warmed up properly, blasted loud music instead of giving instruction on proper technique. Not the case with Big D. In the case of Big D, I have found coaches who are dedicated to your progress, nice folks and a increases in my fitness. Chase and Jordan are extremely technique focused to ensure you don’t hurt yourself but still push your limits.

This place gets crowded at night. Definitely a «bro-gym.» Guys and girls are taking their shirts off in winter during a workout. Are you serious? There’s definitely an «in-crowd» of cool kids too. They do their own special workouts at random times and the middle of your class. Class times and a respect for space don’t seem to apply to them. If you’re not a big time CrossFit games competitor, then chances are you’ll have to move out of their way. One time the coach had us set up barbells on the rack to do some squats, and this big, meat headed competitor decides he’s going to use my bar to do some mobility work. Never mind that he wasn’t a part of class, and I was. Never mind that everybody else is squatting, and I can’t because he’s all over my barbell. When I politely asked him to move, he glared at me, and said, «I’m almost finished.» Ridiculous. The owner/coach is some sort of competitor as well. He’s working out all the time. I don’t have any issues with that. What I do have an issue with is that he coddles his competitor friends and works out during your class time, taking up major space. One time I overheard him complaining about how the class was crowding him. Not kidding. The competitor girls weren’t nice either. One of the bigger competitor girls was pretty much walking through the middle of a class during their WOD. I noticed several people had to stop working out to let her through. She could have easily gone around them, but she was too cool for us lowly peons. And the coaching here was iffy. Some days we get a coach that was all involved with us. And other days, not so much. One time we had a coach that sat on the weights for the entire class. Never once did she get up from it! This gym is not for beginners or people just wanting to work out. It seems like a place where the owner and his friends can work out whenever they want, and everybody else is there to just pay the bills.
