CubeSmart Self Storage

Melinda is a really nice property manager. She is very accommodating and helpful. This location is on Rosemeade just south of Midway Rd and the Tollway in Dallas, just south of Plano.
Even though she is very nice and all, it in no way can make up for the RATS I found in my unit. I rented a 10×10 INDOOR, CLIMATE-​CONTROLLED unit. I have no food items in my unit but when I went to move out, there were rat droppings and rats running around my storage unit. Not just one… four or five LIVE RATS. My storage unit was looking like the Secret of NIMH and I ended up having to throw away a lot of personal items that got ruined. We aren’t talking about a location surrounded by fields, we are talking about bustling metropolis.
I can’t begin to express how appalled I am about it. I informed Melinda and she said that they had rat traps around b/​c the rats get into the storage units but that Cubesmart isn’t responsible for rat damage.
I could understand if my unit was outside in the elements but for $ 200/​month for an indoor AND climate-​controlled storage space, I expected a rat-​free environment. Silly me…
So long story short, the storage place knows about the rats but didn’t tell me so that I could protect my items AND they say they aren’t responsible. Also, for you people saying «you should have gotten renters insurance» — I DO have insurance. But insurance doesn’t cover damage from rats or other animals.
Caveat emptor…(buyer beware). You would be better off going elsewhere — or just lighting your stuff on fire — it would cost less to replace and would provide more entertainment.

So happy to find a storage facility open on Sunday! Fast, friendly service.
