Food was very good ended up spending New year eve there and the service was very good I think the only say i could say I didnt like to well was the valet service that was all squezzed in the walk way of the elevator jjust seemed a little cramped up espically people are coming and going I hate to rate this place a 3 star but for the top of the line prices we pay I expect top of the line service and dont really appreciate the waiter including her 20% tip on a party of 4 and 2 small children(AGES5 and 1 year old) that was a sleep the whole time we were there

I have eaten at many of the top rated restaurants in Dallas, and this was one of my most memorable dining experiences. The food was second to none, and the whole dining experience was a joy. The scalloped potatoes may have been the most delicious potato dish I have ever put in my mouth. The foie gras appetizer was exceptional, as was the pork chop. Our party didn’t have a negative word about any dish we had. I highly recommend on every level.

I love Dakotas! It’s a great place for after work drinks or a special occasion. The service is always on point! The food is delicious, great wine list and they have really good cocktails.?We went to Dakotas for NYE and although they were busy due to the holiday they didn’t skip a beat. We started with Oysters and a complementary half bottle of champaign, moved on to Foie Gras and a bottle of Pinot Noir. My hubby had the NY Prime as a main and I had the Bronzino fish. It was all delicious!

From the amazing calamari as an appetizer to the fantastic steak, lobster, and delightful man n cheese! My tastebuds danced with joy as I savored the wonderful key lime pie for dessert. My experience at Dakota’s was amazing. Our server Oscar was truly phenomenal! He was kind, hospitable, and extremely accommodating. He made our family Christmas dinner one to remember! Dakota’s is by far one of the most amazing steak houses in Dallas!

Hands down one of the top 5 places to eat in Dallas. Huge difference between the lunch and dinner menu, and both are worth a try. At lunch I would recommend getting a combination of several different plates and going in family style(the jalapeño chicken mac’n’cheese is a must-try) and with dinner the steaks are always A1 but don’t be afraid to play on their seafood menu as well. Ambiance 4.8÷5, Food 4.8÷5, overall– A+ Also ask for Allen, great service and very knowledgable on food and drink pairings.

I honestly could not wait to get home to write my review of Dakota’s Restaurant from my visit tonight! My siblings and I wanted to have an intimate surprise dinner for my mother’s birthday and having grown up in Dallas, there are many choices of restaurants. It had been well over a decade since we had visited, however we decided on Dakota’s. We had a party of 13, and the staff went above and beyond in making a special night for my mother! Amber and Ryan were our servers and they did a phenomenal job in the service they provided. The food was superb, from the appetizers to the main course. For the dessert course, I really did not want anything on the menu and I mentioned to Amber I really had a taste for hot chocolate(which is not on their menu). Amber came back a few minutes later with hot chocolate that she had found a way to create herself. The fact that she went through so much to make that for me, was so heartwarming. She did not have to go through the trouble and made sure we did not feel like just another table to her. She was friendly, outgoing, and just an all-around great young woman that assisted us tonight. Everyone from the management, staff, and pianist all played an integral part in making my mother’s celebration monumental! Many thanks to you Dakota’s Restaurant, take a bow!

I’ve been here a couple of times with our team from work(we work downtown) and came again today for a Christmas lunch, the boss paid so that was pretty cool… Their lunch menu is pretty varied and the service is great. Had a «lunch size» medium-rare top sirloin topped with some carmelized onions and a «blop» of garlic butter. The steak was perfect and tender. The onions and garlic-butter were superb. Got a mini wedge salad that had some great bleu cheese dressing. Suffice it to say, I really enjoyed the lunch!!!

The parking was easy and free. They have a valet and a large garage very close The service was amazing and the staff were all very nice. The piano player was great. All the food was amazing except the wagyu filet at $ 35 an oz was horrible. I ordered a 5 oz wagyu steak for $ 175. «Horrible Steak» Desserts were amazing

The manager at my dealership recommended us to Dakota’s to try on our weekend get away and we were very pleased. First, the random elevator in the middle on a street square is very nifty and something I have never seen before. The food was great, but I did have to send our steak back. I’m pregnant and need to eat my steaks med/well and it was still mooing when I received it(which is how I normally take my steak) Other than the it was super yummy. The tempura vegetables are great too! The best part I have to say is the service. Our server Shay was on point and so friendly. She was funny and bubbly and made the visit perfect. Anything we needed she was right there and she was very quick about correcting my steak. I hope all of your servers are that great, because we will be returning!

I went to Dakota’s last weekend for dinner and it was my first time ever dining at this beautiful establishment. I love the fact that Dakota’s has been in Dallas for so many years and has a bit of a legacy for a long standing restaurant in Downtown Dallas. I was surprised when we arrived at the restaurant. The place was almost full! I guess I didn’t think many people came to the restaurant since I hadn’t heard a lot about it, but I guess that’s just because I don’t make it out to Downtown often. There was such a delightful energy in the room, while still having a very romantic feeling. This place is great for an elegant date night out. There’s a pianist that plays all night on Friday’s and Saturday’s. We decided to sit out on their patio, which is probably the best looking patio I’ve seen in the city. Our waiter was attentive to us the entire night and made sure we didn’t have to wait long for drinks and our food. I ordered a glass of Cabernet with their Field Greens Salad to begin the night. The salad was light, savory, and a bit of sweetness. The best part of the salad were the walnuts that added the crunch and the vinaigrette. I could have done without the blackberries, but overall, it was a delicious starter. I also had a taste of the Caesar Salad and it was good. Then, the waiter brought out some of their bread and it was the best complimentary bread I’ve ever had! The bread was buttery and crispy on the outside, and totally soft and moist on the inside. It was so good that we ordered more! For my entrée, I decided to try the Mahi Mahi. Unfortunately, my fish was overcooked, which ruined the meal for me. It was so overdone that the texture was more like a swordfish instead of the light mahi it should have been. I wouldn’t recommend it. It also has an unpleasant green color to it that isn’t too appealing. I had a taste of the Salmon and it was good. It had a hint of sweetness to it, but luckily, it wasn’t too sweet. I also had a couple of bites of the Filet Mignon and it was wonderful. The perfectly cooked medium rare filet had so much flavor that it didn’t need any of the red sauce that accompanied it. For sides, we ordered Asparagus and Mac and Cheese. The asparagus was nothing to write home about and had no seasonings on it at all. Thankfully, there was a hollandaise sauce that came out with the asparagus, which made it a lot better. The Mac and Cheese was the highlight of my night. Not only was the Mac and Cheese rich and creamy, it also had a crisp top layer that made every taste bud in my mouth melt. I loved the fact that the waiter collects our valet tickets so that our cars were waiting for us once we got outside. Overall, I had a good experience here and would love to return!

Perfect spot for a business lunch. Excellent service and great food. The waiter created an app sampler for a recent lunch with shrimp cocktail, calamari, and crab cakes. It was delicious. I tried a crab cake sandwich for my main course and it was exactly what I imagined it would be. I subbed the fries for a Caesar salad to make it a little healthier. I recommend this place for business lunches or fancy dinners downtown.

It was a little past 4PM on a Saturday during the first weekend of restaurant week, and my girlfriends decided then that we should participate in restaurant week. Yeah, as I expected, everything was booked all evening except maybe 2 restaurants that had earlier times for dinner. Even though we never heard of the restaurant, Dakota’s had the better menu of the two. We made a reservation a 6PM, so we had to frantically hurry and get ready to make it to our reservation on time. I’m not sure where you can self-park, but because we were already almost 15 minutes late(my bad), we took advantage of the complimentary valet service. You go down an elevator to where the restaurant is. The restaurant itself is very dimly lit and a perfect spot for a romantic date. However, it was just 2 of my girlfriends and I on a girls’ night out, so we decided to go with the mood and order a bottle of cabernet. So lovely. We all decided to get the Texas field greens salad and each got a different entrée to split(I got the marinated pork chop). Salad is standard. My pork chop was good for the first couple of bites but after a while, it lost its tenderness and flavor. The best part of this dish was definitely the saffron risotto. Definitely one of the best risotto’s I’ve had. As for the other dishes, the beef tenderloin was also delicious but nothing out of the ordinary. I really enjoyed my friend’s pan seared sea scallops dish though. The scallops were seasoned so well and cooked to perfection. They were better than scallops I’ve had at a seafood restaurant. The gnocchi was also delicious! However, overall, all the dishes did tend to be on the saltier side. It wasn’t an issue for me because that’s probably why I enjoyed everything, but someone that is sensitive to salty foods should take precaution. We also shared the desserts. The turtle cheesecake was good but got a bit too sweet for me. I really liked the panna cotta, especially when mixed with some of the passion fruit sauce. It tastes like fancy whipped cream, but I’m a sucker for that kind of taste. Service was great! Everyone, included the waiter, greeted me by my name since I made the reservation and I’ve never had that happen before. Even though Dakota’s was a last minute(literally) decision, it was such a great experience!

When we first arrived I was a little surprised as the restaurant is downstairs and the only thing above ground was the elevator. Kind of odd but let’s get to the point… I did not order any appetizer but the bread they provide is tasty and I’m not usually one to really munch on bread before dinner. I ordered the 12oz filet medium rare and it was by far the best piece of steak I have had in a long time. Tender and rich in flavor. Done perfectly. The service was also great, waiter was friendly and engaging. Next time I’m in Dallas I will be back!

The location should get three stars but the 5 is for the food. The restaurant is located under ground. I’m not sure why but it probably ties into some theme somewhere. Dakotas is your traditional upscale steakhouse with an «a la carte.» Style menu. You order your piece of meat and then as many sides as you want but they are served family style. The 8oz fillet was perhaps one of the best tasting steaks I’ve had in a long time, the last one was at Michaels in Columbus, OH. I asked for medium rare and got medium rare. The outside of the fillet was charged just perfectly giving you resistance as you broke through the top layer and then your knife fell through the meat like you were cutting butter. There was a definite body to the steak, but the inside was rich and tender. I have some dietary modifications(like needing my sides of veggies steamed) and they were more than willing to accommodate. This meal is pricy but totally worth it.

LOVED this place! Great restaurant for a business lunch. LOVED that there is complimentary valet– parking in downtown isn’t exactly fun to find. Dakota’s an elegant escape from downtown Dallas. The food is superb and the service is delightful. I definitely recommend the salmon, but I don’t think you can go wrong here! Next time we’re here, I want to sit out by the water wall part! So pretty!

We were really late for the reservation and even though we called way ahead to explain, the staff was very unhappy. Our orders were rushed but when the food came out it was simply amazing. I had the ribeye with some fries(get the fries) and I loved every bit of the meal. It was really quiet and really dark probably because it was the end of the night but there were only two groups there so it was peaceful. I love the waterfall and the fact that the restaurant is below ground level. Great food as well.

What a lovely location and romantic date spot. My wonderful wife surprised me with birthday reservation and picked me up from work and we landed here at Dakota’s! Happy Hour starts at 4pm with $ 4 drinks. Lighting is low and the location is quiet. The place settings and tables are impeccable. I’ve heard a lot about their Cowboy Ribeye steak and had to try it. The wife went with the sea scallops. When I ordered my steak Medium Rare, the waiter suggested I put have them add a crust to the steak. WHAT A GREAT suggestion. I might ask for that from now on, regardless of the location. The steak taste was spot on. I had hoped it would be more tender. I’ve had more tender steaks elsewhere for the same price, but overall it was amazing. We went with the scalloped potatoes and asparagus as sides. Our appetizer started with the waiters suggestion of calamari. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan. I thought it was a little too salty and didn’t have a complex enough taste profile for a location as nice as this. The sea scallops and risotto were cooked perfectly, however the risotto could have been more seasoned. All in all it was an amazing experience and wonderful surprise. Our waiter Ryan did an outstanding job. Great spot!

Dakota is considered a well known restaurant in Dallas. The place has great ambience with good dim lighting. It’s definitely a good ol’ boy setting. With that said, my colleagues and I ordered the steak frites for lunch. It was not the best steak I ever had. I practically had my steak swim into the steak sauce in order to finish my lunch. It was overly salty and chewy. Great service but I am not sure if I will come back.

A retro happy hour The tony 80’s era elevator entrance flanked by open aired waterfall and garden atrium to subterranean Dakotas, meet me with the cloying smell of cleanser masking something foul, like you get in some dank Asian hole in the wall. The patio was empty, the dining room was scant and the bartender a bit awkward, funny but cantankerous when finicky people complained about his drinks. I loved it. There’s something to be said for that successful«Island of Lost Toys» recipe. Unglamorous, but real. There’s also a lot to be said to a $ 4 happy hour including draft and domestic beer, well drinks, and house wines. Sadly, no food is included but I did promptly receive a nice bowl of assorted warm nuts which included peanuts, walnuts, and rice crackers. Think — dive bar steakhouse with a facelift where nobody is trying to be anybody, and if you want to drink alone in the shadows with the sultry smell of steak then you’ve hit the jackpot. I honestly havnt heard amazing things about the steaks here, and that’s ok — I’m cool with it just being a happy hour spot. Airport hotel feel.(Like the best in Iowa maybe) Completely off the radar with the«Dallas» set which gives it a comfortable humble feel. Appetizers in the $ 15 range, and entrees around $ 40, shied me away from trying anything, and I doubt I would unless, say, my parents were buying. As it neared 7pm on a Tuesday the place slowly started to bustle. So maybe there is something good going on here. No dress code — I looked fashionably terrible, which I guess must be working for me.
