Dillard’s

Dillard's has a history of racism. The latest example is an employee named Homer, a racist old relic who slithered out of his rancid cesspool of ignorance and hate and used a racial slur against black customers.

OMG. I have never been to a more chaotic sale than the New Years 50% off Clearance sale. It was crazy. I live in Plano and should have stuck to the Dillards at Parks Mall, or Stonebriar. The sales people were rude and unorganized except for in the children’s department. They had their system down and kept the lines moving. Now anything bought on this day has a 3 day return time limit. Well I count 3 days as today Monday but we will see, I have to return an item. My friend that attended with me said she was told it was Sunday. Who counts the day they bought the item? Even if it was 30 days. I will update.

I shop here but mostly because I live in the area. All of the reviews you read about the terrible customer service at Northpark are true — it must reflect management attitude from the top because it is pervasive in almost every department. The only exceptions I know of are a couple of seasoned employees in the men’s department.
Recent experiences taught me a couple of things. First, always select the option to receive both email and printed receipts. Bought my daughter an expensive, sequined dress… she wore it once and a long section of the sequins on the back was off by the end of the evening. Took it back — not for a refund b/​c she loved the dress — but for either a repair or replacement. Because she didn’t keep the tags and we misplaced the receipt, no one… even a manager would help although they all admitted that they knew it had been a very recent purchase since the dress was a «new arrival.» I had used my Dillard’s account so I suggested we try to get the information they needed (the «pop» number) from customer service — no, that was «illegal» according to a rude sales associate… well, I’m an attorney and if I ask you to call and inquire about something on my account, it is NOT illegal for you to do so stupid girl! So, after a lengthy attempt to get Dillards’ employees to provide some customer service, I solved my own problem — bought the dress a second time, gave the tags and receipt for that one along with the defective dress to the manager and she credited my account. Really??? Since they were clearly willing to accept the return of the defective merchandise, why put me through all of that?
Second, never take the first rude sales associate’s word for something as final. Tried to buy a Michael Kors dress a few days ago. Great sale price and had my size but only one. So, delighted I took it to the checkout and only person around clearly had an attitude. She had the sourest look on her face, barely even acknowledged me, but went about the process of taking my money. I noticed that the hemming on one of the sleeves had come loose. So, I stopped her and asked if they have an alterations department that could re-​hem the sleeve. She blankly looked at me, kind of sighed as if to say, «are you stupid?» and then denied that they have any alterations available at Dillard’s. So, I asked if it was possible to get a small discount off of the price and she said, «absolutely not, this is the lowest price available for this dress.» I wasn’t looking for much — maybe 5 — 10 bucks so I could have it fixed somewhere else! So, I declined to move forward with my purchase. Two days later, the dress was still there so I took it to another sales associate in the department across the aisle and, although she too said Dillard’s has no alterations department — she happily offered me an additional 10% discount due to the defect and I didn’t even have to ask her about it. Clearly, Dillard’s neither trains or monitors their employees. The ghostly white sales associate with her hair slicked back into a greasy ponytail and a bad attitude that works in women’s coats should be given her walking papers! But, frankly, if Dillard’s fired every employee that has a bad attitude and mistreats its customers, that place would be a ghost town without anyone to unlock the doors on a day!
Let’s face it — most people wouldn’t go to Dillard’s at all if they can find what they are looking for elsewhere. It’s not particularly clean, not particularly less expensive than places where salespeople are taught how to treat customers (like Nordstrom), and you have to go there expecting to be disrespected and leave irritated. Dillard’s is simply lucky to stock brands that other stores have and when I can’t find what I’m looking for elsewhere, Iike so many others I’ll go there.
In fact, I am going for their big sale today. I called this morning to see what time they open — a very, very rude person answered the phone said (without even saying hello), «Dillard’s is open from 9 to 7 today» and then just didn’t say anything more. Heck, I wasn’t sure if it was a recording or what so I hesitated a little and said, «Thank you?» Nope, not a recording… a voice said, «You’re welcome» and hung up. Who does that? Just another example of poor leadership and training — I guess it’s people like me who keep them going though since I just go there and spend my money even though I almost always have to endure some level of their abuse! Hmmmm — maybe I’ll just stay home today and skip the good deals that may or may not be available. It will save me from being offended or angry because of the bad attitudes that most surely WILL be available!

Dillard’s is pretty much a Macy’s for those who can’t afford or don’t want to shop at Nordstrom. This store is located in the NorthPark Mall on Central Expy off US-​75 in Dallas, TX. Can be difficult to find for those that don’t frequent the area often. Store was clean and everything was in order. Employees didn’t bother you that much but were helpful when the time came. Far better selection than Macy’s IMO as well as better service. FYI the only Dillard’s I know in California is in Palmdale and I wish for more. The items may be more expensive but worth shopping at. Looking forward to a return real soon.

Ordered makeup & they said they would have to mail for free gift. Call two weeks later & they mailed to wrong place. Then they assumed super dark skin & mailed wrong products. Tried to remedy over the phone & girl didn’t have a valley girl clue. Now I have $ 38 makeup I cannot use. Gee thanks. Don’t ship your orders. They do not have their act together. Waited on endless hold for a manager that never came. Very disappointed with Clinique counter.

Dillards at Northpark was crazy, crazy during their 70% off sale. I only went to the shoe department, but honestly, it was so chaotic and messy that I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I didn’t find anything that I was looking for which was partly due to the fact that boxes of shoes were just thrown everywhere and the salespeople only wanted to help with shoes that were not on sale. Not helpful! I won’t go back during a huge sale again. Not worth it.

So. I arrived at the store around 10:15 AM, when I arrived, I walked around browsing all the shoes being displayed, I noticed another customer returning a pair of shoes, I specifically noticed the box being Sperrys, being the nosy person I am, I walked closer to see if the shoes were the ones I had my eye on a few weeks back when I was at Dillards looking around, I noticed it was the ones I liked so after the transaction was done, I went to grab the displaying shoe and give it to Prisca, the sales associates doing the return and also the sales associate who later was giving me an attitude through the morning. She agreed to help me, but later, she brought out every other color but the color that the other customer JUST returned. I mean, Im not blind, I knew what shoes I saw and it wouldnt hurt to bring out any possible sizes near the sizes I ask for because with other shoe sales associates, they would bring multiple sizes. Later, since I noticed Prisca just refuse to bring out the shoes I wanted, I asked another sales associates, her name was Mariam. She said she was new so I knew she would be confused and such. She couldnt find the shoes then went to ask Prisca where the shoes were and ask if Prisca did any returns this morning, Mariam came back and said Prisca told her she didnt do any returns, that is just lying and showing that she is not a trustworthy worker in the company. Later Prisca asked if I needed anymore help, I ask to look up in the computer system and prove to me that Northpark really didnt have the shoes. As she was showing me, she was also showing me the attitude which she must never show in front of customers. Afterwards, I told her to just stop and told her I would like to speak with a manager. She kept beating around the bushes and wont even call in a manager. I later asked Mariam to bring me a manager, but she offered to try to properly show me the computer system of the shoes available. I got really tired and annoyed and I just wanted to leave. I left the store around 1135 AM without even speaking with a manager to solve the situation. I later returned to the store around 630 PM and came back hoping the shoes will still be there even though Shannon transfered be over to the shoes manager and the show manager stated the shoes were no longer available. Either she lied or her search was not done so properly. This is because when I came back, I asked Michael, he is a very helpful sales associate. Every time I am at Dillards for shoes, and hes working that day, he would do his best to find my shoes without any problems. The same happened today, he went in the stockroom and found my shoes immediately. This then have me questioning the search that the shoe manager did. Did she even do a search? or was she just lazy and doesnt care about a customers shopping experience at all like Prisca? Please re-​train your employees and minor managers. I would also like to commend Michael, he has always been a great salesman to not only me but other customers. It is people like him that Dillards should promote and hire more of, not like Prisca whom should be fired as well as her other colleagues whom they spoke of another language speaking bad of me right in front of me when I was at the store this morning. Sales associates should understand, customers are important. When you disrespect me, possible because I am Asian, that doesnt mean I must be treated differently from the white people, racism?

One of the worst experiences of my life. My girlfriend bought Lancom make up and it was $ 80. They charged her another $ 55 for someone else’s makeup in the pre-​order.
My card was used illegally and when I called they made excuses saying that there was $ 30,000 of pre sale and that finding my order «would take too long.»
They told me to do and audit with my bank for a mistake they made. Honestly I am going to contact the district manager. I’ve talked to 8 different people in one day, and they just threw me around transferring.
Worst store ever.

I do not shop at department stores all that often, but I prefer Dillard’s to most of the other department stores. The Northpark Dillard’s has an awesome selection for women in all departments. I enjoy their sales and am always able to find a great deal on clothes and shoes. The quality varies, as expected, with the brands, but overall I have had no issues with things falling apart. The key is you just have to be in the know about sales here.
As for service, this varies a great deal from department to department and from location to location. I generally dislike most of the employees in the shoe department. I believe they work solely or mostly on commission, so if you are just browsing and seem less interested in buying something, they will ignore you. Even if you find something that interests you, you might have trouble finding someone to help you. However, their shoe sales are the bomb. I always walk out with 3 or 4 pairs of shoes I absolutely love. Again, you just have to know how to work the sales, so sign up for their newsletter/​email list to be in the know.

I don’t think I have ever given an event or a store 1 star as I’m a big fan of local business and how hard it is to work retail or in the service industry. Tonight I was absolutely humiliated and don’t want anyone else to feel this way.
If I could give my experience tonight zero stars I would. I was invited to the holiday after hours party from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. My friend and I were there to shop but the associates were busy eating and dancing. It took quite some time to get a fitting room. We got one around 9:10 pm thinking we had 20 mins to try things on and make out final purchases. That was not the case.
We had already visited the men’s section and fragrance section and spent around $ 500. We then went to the women’s clothing and found some great clothes to try on. Both my friend and I had at least $ 500 combined that we were about to check out before Katie, the manager on duty plus a male co-​worker bombarded the dressing room while my friend was re-​dressing and asked us to leave. We had been there for 3 hours gathering items to finish Christmas shopping and we were asked to leave because the lights were scheduled to go off. It seems absolutely absurd that you would schedule a private event until 9:30 pm and that the lights shut off at 9:45 pm not considering people would need to check out. I request that Katie provide her business card but she refused so I even question if she was the manager in duty or just a rude, unprofessional employee who just wanted to go home.
As someone who has worked in the retail industry for over 10 years, I understand how private events and closing time works. I would never treat a customer in this manner.
I am extremely disturbed by the service tonight and won’t be shopping at Dillard’s again. We were humiliated and then escorted out, no apology can make up for that feeling. I don’t recommend Dillard’s at all.

I was instructed by a nice employee in women’s clothing that I would need to return my blouse with receipt to customer service to get a credit since the credit card I used to purchase the blouse had changed since I bought it, due to theft. MasterCard sent me a new card and obviously with a new number. She said she could give me a gift card or customer service could credit my new card. There was one person working in customer service with 7 people waiting in line. When I finally was helped, the manager wouldn’t take it back since I didn’t have my original credit card… the stolen one. She wouldn’t even give me a gift card. I went back to the nice girl that originally helped me in women’s and got a gift card. I will never shop this Dillard’s again. EVERY STORE EVERYWHERE knows to honor your replaced credit card. The customer service manager was either lazy or stupid… definitely doesn’t need to be a manager.

When I’m not shopping at Nordstrom’s, I’ll go to Dillards — usually for quick & easy stuff like make-​up or hosery. Sometimes you can catch some good sales but good luck finding stuff in your size unless you’re a size 2 or size 14. Let’s face it, Dillard’s is pricey but the clothing & designer selection at this North Park location puts the other Dillards’ locations to shame.

I genuinely like the Dillard’s a NorthPark Mall. The women’s clothing buyer is good and they have a large shoe section. The bad thing about Dillard’s is that they don’t do price adjustments, so if there is an even bigger sale right around the corner, your option is to suck it up or return your purchase and try to find the identical item to repurchase (since they put whatever you return on a hold so you can’t buy it again at the lower price). The whole thing is just stupid and makes me prefer to shop at the other department stores (or any other store in the mall really). :/

Housekeeping needs to play a better role in this department store…

don’t think this place is anything special. prices seem high compared to other retailers. i went to look at shoes and not one person asked if i needed any help.

I never have any problems shopping here. The service is great and everyone is very friendly. Awesome cosmetics department!!! This I the only store I will buy my makeup and fragrance from and they always have the best selection of ladies shoes and that’s just a fact. Love this place dearly! Oh and these return policies I see people complaining about really aren’t that difficult to get. It literally explains everything on the back of the receipt when they hand it to you. Read people.:)

This is my go-​to shoe store. It has never let me down! For years, whenever I needed a shoe for some event or just some therapy it has been there for me.
Yesterday, I went with my Mom to help her find her wedding shoes for my wedding and we were helped by this wonderful woman Lydia. She knew her shoes! I mean she KNEW her shoes. We would describe what we were looking for to her and she would come back with exactly what we needed. Another example, we would show her a shoe and she would do one of two things: 1) She would either agree it was the right coloring for myself or my mother or 2) she would find something better and say «no, that is not the right shoe for you». I will always ask for her when I go back and so will my mother. I highly suggest you ask for her too when you go and definitely shop for shoes here.

Wow, I am surprised by the lackluster reviews of Dillards. I would say that Dillards is an above average department store. You can get some really good deals on some nicer brands, especially dresses. Their home section on the top floor is pretty average to subpar but I think they do a good job with their clothes. They usually have a good section of BCBG dresses and they are often on sale.

At first glance, you might think it’s a decent place to shop. It’s in North Park, they have a decent selection of merchandise, and the products aren’t horrible.
Well, think again.
Go with the other reviews. The customer service here is terrible. I was shopping for a pair of mens shoes, and they seemed a bit tight but the salesman assured me that they would stretch because «the leather is very soft». Well, I did like the shoes so I bought them with the expectation that they would.
Long story short, they did not. I wore them quite a bit hoping they would, only to end up with foot pain. Then, when I tried to return them, I was told I couldn’t because I had worn them. Well, of course, because how would they stretch otherwise.
I tried to speak to the manager, but returns must come out of their own commissions or something. I didn’t expect a refund, just an exchange for a different model or perhaps a store credit. Nope. His explanation was that «They have had these shoes for over 10 years without a complaint».
Well, you can’t say that any more, I guess. Don’t go to Dillards. Just buy your shoes from Zappos. At least there you can return them for a year no questions asked.

If zero stars were an option, that’s what Dillards would get from me. The customer service here is atrocious, employees act bothered to be working there. Forget about getting help from anybody. While at the swim department I waited by the cash register for several minutes while the employee slowly made her way over. She didn’t even greet me and before helping me answered a phone call. She then told the customer she couldn’t find a size for her because it would be like «finding a needle in a haystack»! I wasn’t allowed to return my purchase because I bought it over three days ago, go figure.
Every time I go into this place I end up cursing myself for it and swearing I’ll never go back. Just stick with the safe Nordstrom where you are guarantees good service and a reasonable exchange policy. Poor customer service is never worth it, no matter how inexpensive the merchandise may be!

Ok…this review isn’t for the entire store… rather just the women’s shoes.
While browsing with my wife and picking out «cute sandals» for her, we were listening to announcements the store would close in 10 min. That’s when we were told no more shoes would be pulled because «we are closed».
Hmmmmmm…there are people in the store… with MONEY in their pockets… wanting to spend it… and you want to STOP?
I understand… people want to go home… but come on…10 min before close???
Sorry dude… rather than spend $ 89 dollars for your shitty sandals, we’ll go over to Nordstroms… where they stay open until the customers leave… and spend MORE if necessary.
Customer service in this day and age at Dillards is dead!!!
