Where do I begin? I have lived in the neighborhood most of my life and I have shopped off and on at the Dollar Tree store at Northlake Shopping Center since it opened years ago. The staff most of the time has been helpful and pleasant. I went in there to get a some birthday cards and as I was checking out at the register, a new teenager was behind the counter. When he told me what I owed, I wasn’t sure what he had said and I repeated the amount just to make sure I heard him right. In a loud tone he said no, it is so and so amount and he threw the cards down in front of me. I starred at him and I asked him why he spoke to me in that manner? A woman that worked there was nearby and she told me not to raise my voice to him. I was trying to explain to her what had just taken place and she started yelling at me to get the —- out of her store. Once again, I just look at her and then looked at him with shock. I was trying to pay and she told the teenager not to give me the cards I was trying to buy. I felt like I was in a dream, a bad dream. I told her I spent quite a while sorting through the cards and I needed to buy them. Then I asked for the supervisor and she told me she was the supervisor and for me to get out of her store. I asked again if I could pay for the cards since I needed them. Finally, she said I could pay for them but to get out of her store immediately. Each time I tried to explain to her what took place she screamed at me ever louder to get out of her store. I am in total shock for what took place. I will never go back to that store ever. For one thing I became frightened as this«supervisor» was screaming at me to get out of her store. I really thought this woman was going to lose it and come after me and assault me as she walk closer to me screaming. I got my cell out and I was ready to call the police if she had followed me out the door. I cannot begin to fathom what took place. I have run this incident through my mind and I keep hitting the wall with this scenario. My only thought is this: I am a white woman, this was a teenager was Hispanic and the supervisor was black. I just cannot understand what took place. Is this to do with what has been in the news about racial profiling? I treat everyone the same regardless of their color or race. It was a terrifying experience. I can only now write about it on the board. I truly wonder now if this is why people carry guns, even into a place as innocuous as Dollar Tree? I just cannot figure out what else this can be for the life of me. I called the regional manager over this store over a week ago and he never called me back. I also wrote a letter but again, no response. What do they care. The Dollar Tree in Casa Linda has become the store I visit now. And I feel very comfortable when shopping there.

Never have I been treated and talked to so poorly from an employee than I did yesterday, January 4th, 2015 at 3:11pm when I ran into The Dollar Tree store at 10233 E. Northwest Hwy store #2350. I was the only one standing at the 2nd register to check out and the cashier went over to the 1st register and told the cashier«well people keep getting in my line and don’t ever look to see if the light is on». As soon as Jesse Duarte came back to the register to check me out I apologized and said«I’m so sorry I didn’t even look up to see if the light was on or off». As soon as he starting ringing my 10 notebooks I had, his cell phone rang and he answered it. He had a full conversation with someone asking them if they could check their car for his belongings. Meanwhile he was not paying ANY attention to what he was doing. After he finished his«important» phone call, I asked him to double check and make sure he scanned 10 notebooks and not any more. He responded with«I did, see? No need for attitude». I was shocked he had just told me that after he had taken a personal phone call and I was simply asking if he had scanned the right amount. I proceeded to say that«I didn’t have attitude I just wanted to make sure». He started to argue with me and said«I just seems like you have a attitude with me». WHATEMPLOYEESAYSTHATTO A CUSTOMER? I then asked for the manager on duty and he looked at me and said«Hi I’m Jesse how can I help you»? I then told him I would just contact customer service. As I was leaving the store he yelled from his register«TRY and have a better day» in front of customers. He then proceeded to start talking about me in front of other customers as I was walking out of the store. I was absolutely humiliated and shocked a manager was talking to me this way. As soon as I got home I was checking my receipt and sure enough, he rang me up for the wrong amount of something.

Selection is great! This is the best place to go for party stuff, including anything for the holidays. They keep getting more stuff that I use everyday, and it’s all just one dollar! I was even surprised when I went this last time and was able to get our loaf of bread(Nature’s Own whole wheat) for just a dollar, and usually pay $ 3 at the grocery store. This store is always clean and the employees are friendly. Highly recommend this location vs other dollar stores I’ve visited.

Love going here. They keep the place clean and there’s no odor! There’s also always a ton of seasonal stuff.(Halloween!) There’s a guy named John there and is helpful if ya need it. All the employees, now that I think of it, are always happy.
