Update! New staff all around! Definitely a change for the better. The food is decent. I usually just grab some nachos while I’m at the bar. Happy hour is awesome and I dig the karaōke. Love the margaritas and they usually have some good beer on tap. 4 stars for Corazón!

Not really a fan. Saw a few recommendations for the veggiladas and thought I’d try the place out. The zucchini and squash had a funky taste to them, certainly didn’t taste fresh. Also, the salsa was highly underwhelming. The best part if the meal was my waitress. She was very sweet and attentive, bringing me some fresh corn tortillas and butter.

Great food! Service sub par. Saw waitress twice the entire time and had to go find her twice for ancillaries. Not very busy either. Not gonna win any personality awards…

I’ve been eating here since childhood when it was El Chico, then Tejano, and now El Corazon. It’s a great place for authentic Tex-Mex. I got loaded nachos and they were really good, with tons of cheese, fajita chicken, beans, guacamole and sour cream. Yummy! A half order was a ton of food, definitely plenty for two people.

Stopped here for lunch after hanging out in Bishop Arts. The building is very eye-catching and is just outside of the district, so it’s easy to stop by on your way in or out. Chips were slightly greasy, just the way Mexican restaurant chips should be, and their salsa was a standout — perfectly seasoned, slightly chunky, and just the right amount of kick. I got the seafood enchiladas topped with verde salsa and Jack cheese. Most seafood enchiladas I’ve seen have a creamy cheesy sauce, which is usually too heavy and covers up the delicate flavors of the fish, so this was a nice exception. The tilapia and shrimp were perfectly cooked and the salsa really freshened up the dish. I also liked that you were able to choose a side of cilantro lime rice instead of the typical Spanish rice you see at every other Mexican restaurant. This place definitely pays attention to the little things and is a standout in the sea of Tex-Mex that is DFW. I look forward to coming back, hopefully to try something from their brunch menu next time.

This place is good and reasonably priced. $ 1mimosas got my attention as did the chicken and churros for brunch. It was good. They have some great specials and always have great food

The brunch cured my hangover. I wasn’t sure what to get so our waitress Gloria helped me pick. As a tangent, I hate when servers can’t give you an honest opinion about what’s good and bad. Gloria didn’t suffer from this. No no, Gloria was decisive and more importantly she was correct in her assessment of my needs. Eat here. Ask for Gloria.

Unexpectedly awesome! From the outside, you’d think this would be just another run-of-the-mill Mexican joint, but you’d be wrong. I’ve never been to a Mexican or Tex-Mex place that had anything for vegans other than rice and guac, but much to my surprise, this place delivered! The veggieladas were delicious and very satisfying. The beans were the best I’ve ever had, and my husband(who often eats meat) agreed. The portions were generous, and the food was all really good. Especially the homemade chips, tortillas, and salsa. And the prices were great! Perhaps best of all was the service. Gloria was our waitress and we loved her. She was so happy, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about us. She made recommendations and repeatedly checked to ensure we were satisfied. The manager also stopped by to ensure everything was to our liking. We liked it so much, we convinced our Über driver to give it a try(which feels like paying it forward, since it was a recommendation from our previous Über driver!). Go. Ask for Gloria. Thank me later.

And oh my goodness. All five of us had the most outstanding food, app and drinks. We are in for a meeting from Alaska, Seattle and Montana. Would certainly come back again

I must my say we are big on Tex mex(my wife and I) but trust my friends on this one and they didn’t disappoint. Chips and salsa are soft and crunchy kinda like pappacitos the food is top notch, although I believe if your enchiladas suck you should not be in business. The only reason I am giving this four stars is because I didn’t taste any alcohol in my margarita all in all very good place to eat

Full size nachoes, chicken and beef are good and you must have a frozen margarita with them. So delicious!

Amen and hallelujah!!! In the middle of the Little Mexico of Dallas, I do believe we hit upon the best Tex-Mex this city has to offer! We discovered this place about 2 months ago, and I’ve been back 6 times since. I order the enchiladas normally: Monterey jack topped with verde sauce, chicken topped with mole’(the BEST mole’ I’ve ever had… could eat it with a spoon), and the sour cream chicken. I’ve had both the charro beans and the refried; both are good, but the charro and Spanish rice end up being lunch for me the following day. I love that they have seasonal fruit as an option with the kids meals. The margaritas are the real deal — not overly sweet, green adult crap. It’s perfectly balance with sweet, lime, and tequila. And the salsa and chips! We’ve ordered just the salsa to-go on the way home from work because we were craving it. I will eat 4 or 5 mini-bowls of it before the food comes.(I normally don’t eat it at all in other restaurants.) The only con is that the place is quite noisy. But we’re all eating so diligently when we’re here that that doesn’t seem to matter much. Mmmmm…

Everything you need for your mexican food craving. Very nice atmosphere, welcoming experience. Lived in Texas my entire life and this is a solid mexican food restaurant. Good salsa, good margaritas, and pretty decent fajita meat. It seemed like the tortillas were home made too.

Great food and great environment. It got a little too loud at one point because someone was celebrating a birthday and they were a tad bit drunk. Other than that great service and amazing food. Saturday is happy hour all day! Woohooo! I ordered the green enchiladas with cilantro rice and charro beans. Yum! The décor was nice and the place was clean. will be returning!

Our favorite Tex-Mex in Dallas. It is so great to experience a place with such a great history and fabulous food. Brunch and dinner are equally good and we look for reasons to go. Pleasant atmosphere, good crowd and close to fun nightlife.

This place is the real deal! If you enjoyed the original El Chicos or Casa Rosa in Dallas, you’ll be right at home at El Corazon. My sour cream chicken enchiladas were perfect, and I mean perfect. Flavors, textures and portion size were just right. Do yourself a favor and come here for excellent classic TexMex!

Very very good Tex-Mex. I had the spinach and cheese enchiladas, and they were so very good. The spinach was perfection, and the cheese sauce they top it off with was superb! We also had the Dos-a-Ritas – again great and strong! We will continue to return here for delicious Tex Mex food! The vibe is also very kitschy! Lots of fun.

Always searching for the Mexican food of my childhood. I gave this place a try. They have vintage written on their sign so I was hoping they would wow me back to yesteryear. Piñatas hanging in the window — check Old school crunchy shell taco– check Eh. It wasn’t bad by any means, it’s just so difficult to find amazing mex food these days. This place had a good flavor, friendly service. The paper table covers were interesting but no crayons? Chips and salsa were very fresh tasting. The menu had a lot of selections. I will give them another chance.

A week later and I can’t stop thinking about this meal, it is hands down the best Tex-Mex I have ever had. Many vegan, gluten free options. Get the portobello mushroom fajitas, a bit lighter then some of the other choices! The queso fundido was delicious and worthy and strong and cheap margaritas(with fresh fruit).

Solid tex-mex at an excellent price point. Feels like the place has been there forever, extensive old-school menu. I had the veggie enchiladas. I’m not a vegetarian but was glad for the option of meat-free charro beans to accompany. He had a build-your-own combo with a beef burrito, queso, beef enchilada with chili, beef chalupa. Tasty, classic presentation but not overly weighted down with the ubiquitous cheese you’ll find at a chain. Great house chips & salsa. An institution.

Due to continuing responsibilities in OC, my wife and I decided it was time to try El Corazon de Tejas. We’re glad we did. First of all, the service. Our server, Samantha, was excellent. She answered our questions, handled a slight problem we had with the chips with grace, made recommendations regarding the Michelada and filled us in on the history of the place which goes way back. She even made suggestions on some historical aspects of the building. The female bartender saw to it that our needs were met and did so with a sense of humor. And the owner was gracious enough to chat with us for a while when we went into a side dining room to look at some historic murals. All in all, we felt more than welcome. We sat in the bar and had drinks and the appetizer sampler. The food was very good with an emphasis on cheese and chips. The salsa was spicy and not too hot. And they have St Arnold Santo on tap. ‘Nuff said.

My husband and I really enjoyed this place! They have karaōke which adds to the environment and makes it unique. I really enjoyed the food and margaritas. This place isn’t far from my house so it will probably become our New Mexican joint. Parking can fill up quick, so you may have to park on the street behind the restaurant. Service was great! Alex was our server and she did a fabulous job!

So it’s been like forever since I visited this restaurant, but back then it was called Tejanos and as far as I can remember it was eh ok. Now it’s called El Corazon and it was good for Tex-Mex food but that is just what it is Tex-Mex food so don’t expect real authentic Mexican food. If you want that go to Jefferson street. El Corazon food is hot and come out in no time at at all it has a good flavor at least what I got, which was two tamales and one sour cream enchilada. One thing I do like is that the lunch menu is all the way til 5pm. If you like Tex-Mex food you’ll probably like it here.
Reliable, tasty TexMex. Good food, fast service, usually easy parking. I love taking care of my TexMex fix here.
