I came here for my birthday last year with a big party. The service to us was excellent and the food was phenomenal. I always recommend this place to others! This place makes the olive garden a place you never want to eat at again!

Finally, a good Italian restaurant in Dallas! The Fresco grill is run by the same people who own Café Toscana. The food is very good, and the service is excellent. I started out with a shrimp bisque, which was solid, but nothing to write home about. The Caesar salad was excellent; you can’t go wrong with any salad on the menu, they are all very good. For my entrée, I had a chicken dish that was combination of chicken saltimbocca with a Marsala sauce. The chicken was mouth watering, and the sauce was excellent. For desert, the chocolate mousse cake was rich, and the accompanying ice cream was delightful. Overall, I highly recommend the Fresco grill. Its an excellent Italian option, and its by far the best restaurant open on Sundays in the Dallas area.

The Fresco Grill is a popular new Italian restaurant in the Back Mountain Shopping Center at the location of the former Black Duck and the late lamented Cuvenee. The Fresco Grill is under common ownership with Café Tuscana in Wilkes-Barre and shares a similar menu. This was a second visit after things had settled down following slight fire damage at the shopping center. On our first visit, we had been more than pleased with seared tuna and talapia almondine, both served to perfection. There was a good crowd last night, but … We had to ask 4 times if someone would take our drink orders. The food was luke warm by the time it reached our table. The mussels starter was great, but the caprese salad and the fresco salad disappointed. My favorite dish at Café Tuscana, the pan seared sea scallops, was not prepared with the same care at Fresco Grill — limp and no seasoning. My request to substitute vegetables for pasta resulted in a scoop of mashed potatoes. The veal francaise was unimpressive and practically cold. Desserts varied from tiramasu(not bad) to a sundae made of frozen ersatz something with no discernible flavor. Nice ambiance, great bar and a congenial crowd made up for some of the culinary disappointment. We’ll try again in a couple of months and hope for a return to the quality we enjoyed on our first visit. It should be noted that this was the first time I can remember dining in public in the past year that no public official had been indicted in Luzerne County and dinner conversation was filled with more pleasant subjects. By contrast to my experience at Fresco Grill, lunch today at the sister restaurant, Café Tuscana, was splendid — seared tuna done to perfection on a bed of spinach with garlic galore.
