Was hesitant after reading previous negative reviews but apparently new management is in place, new chef, and new wait staff. Been here twice for lunch now and both times food was fantastic and wait staff was very attentive. Much better than average bar food and prices were very reasonable.

As I predicted, this place is now closed. They didn’t even last as long as I thought they would…

The actual venue is not bad at all, but that’s where the fun stops. The food is nothing to write home about and is overpriced, and the service is lackadaisical. They make an OK martini /mixed drink, but their beer selection is weak — as long as you like Coors Light, Bud Light, Miller, etc., you’ll be fine. If you like micro or craft beers, look elsewhere. The entertainment highlight of the Saturday evening I was there was the incredible number of guys in their 40’s — 50’s wearing Affliction t-shirts and women’s jeans and the«I share clothes with my teenage daughter» plastic women that accompanied them. If that’s your kinda crowd, then Grover’s is your kinda place! If not, stay far far away…

The food at Grover’s is outstanding! We have never had anything that we didn’t like! The look and feel of the place is pretty awesome too! I really enjoy hanging out, having a few beers and eating delicious food. The last time we were there we had pretty terrible service but I think it was just that particular waitress because all of the others we have had were really nice and great at their jobs. I will definitely continue to eat here and hang out especially since it is so close to our new house.

This is a spot in my BFF’s hood and he had been wanting to check it out. Sure wish I had Unilocaled first. It was an exercise in futility. A «Bar» without Drafts? Really? I note that several reviewers mention their draft beer selection, but we were shocked when we wandered in one afternoon, and discovered they have no drafts. When asking what bottled beers they had, our unknowledgeable server pointed to the 6 – 8 bottles of beer perched on top of the bar. However, when making a selection,(3 of the ones we wanted), we were told…“we’re out of those, our delivery has not arrived today”. BFF got up and went to look in the refrigerated case to see what they had, and was astounded at how minimal the choices were. This was further aggravated by the fact that Grover’s «Bar» doesn’t carry his preferred brew, Miller Lite. He raced back to our table and gave me the«let’s get out of here look». We politely told the server we’d come back another time and left. She seemed stunned and looked a little confused. And, no, I’m sure we won’t be back. Grover’s, something is really wrong here; hope you get it together, because we really liked the ambiance of your place. Nice comfy very large booths, and a nice bar area. Looks like it would be a fun spot to enjoy an ice cold brew with friends. However, you’ve got to have the brews before that can happen.

The service was okay and the menu is fine for a bar, but not a real restaurant. The whole place felt scattered and unsure of itself. If you’re going to look disorganized in the kitchen you should hide it from the dining room. Either have cheaper bar food to match the black walls & floor or have better food to match the pricing and make the place more comfortable to be in.

I give them an A for effort. The place has a great ambience and the service was pretty good. We were looking for a bar and grill in the area to watch the Rangers game. They turned the game on for us and the manager talked to us about what brought us in. I can appreciate getting to know your patrons. The food was ok but I would not recommend anything in particular. The queso was plain and had no real seasoning. My philly cheesesteak was really greasy and my date’s salad was pretty bland but the beer was cold. Overall, the service was good and the bar seemed cool. I would go back for drinks but probably not dinner. The wait staff said it’s a good place for live music. May check that out too.

**UPDATE** — the Owner of Grover’s contacted me after my 1st review(see below) and asked me to give them another try. I’m glad I did… my husband, daugther and I went last Tuesday night and it was great. Just so happened to be «kids eat free» so even better. We had the beef nachos for appetizer, and wow, I’ll order these next time as my meal, very good. I had the enchilada’s which were also very good, my husband had the stuffed chicken and he said he ate so much he felt like a stuffed chicken! LOL — my daughter loved the chicken tenders(which I must say, I had a hard time not eating them myself!) Oh, and their fries are amazing… obviously freshly cut and fried back in the kitchen, nothing frozen on these plates. I’m very glad we tried again and I will definitely come back for dinner/drinks with my family and friends. ** I just checked my credit card bill… my tab was $ 17.50(3 Shiners and 2 Mich Ultra), I left a $ 4 tip and my card was confirmed for $ 33.50! Who the hell leaves a $ 16 tip for a couple of beers… not me. Better be sure to always check your credit card bill or bank statement if this is how they operate. And the worst part it, my husband and I had a good time, a night out for us but we had a sitter for our child and wanted to have some adult fun — sucks that this is the taste we are now left with. **UPDATE: My credit card company reversed the self-appointed $ 12 over tip, but still, left a bad taste in my mouth… IF we ever go back, we’ll bring cash**

My business partner and I go to this place all the time for lunch. It is good quick and everyone is generally nice. Menu is pretty big and overwhelming. Wish they had more simple options or options that I could understand. Reading some of the descriptions confuses me on what might actually be on the plate. :-/. Just ask the waitress what she recommends and you’ll be fine!!! :-)

came to hear the a band,. The front of house was mostly empty The area where the band played was mostly table and chairs and a nice sofa. If you wanted to dance, it was to be done in the back which is a concept I highly endorse. I do not get the need for people to dance directly in front of bands blocking every ones’ view. The band was playing on a nicely lit raised staged with red curtain backdrops. The sound was just right… Then the band went on break, this screen came down and they started playing 80’s music videos. That would have been OK except that they jacked the volume up. The sound quality of the recording was HORRENDOUS, as if it was a low quality mp3. Ordered a Buffalo chicken and I choose sweet potato fries as the side option. The sandwich was a good size, nice bun, breaded chicken breaded chicken breast drenched in hot sauce with romaine lettuce and tomato. I enjoyed the string sweet potato fries. The sandwich needed a little help, I think it would have been better with a plain grilled chicken breast instead of that breaded fried monstrosity. The lettuce appeared to wilt on the sandwich. A contrasting flavor besides hot sauce would have helped, it was over powering. I will try something different next time. The staff was friendly and attentive. I appreciate the live music and hope they continue to support the music scene. I want to rate higher, will re evaluate over the course of a couple of visits.

First time I went(here) — it was late and not very crowded — the big drafts(Mil Lt) were $ 4+(and after tip) I was paying $ 5 per and Shiner mighta been a buck higher. A LIL high for me. .. Good Band so I was suprised there were few people there. It was dark. Next time — much better — happy hour during the day features $ 2 domestic pints($ 3 for 22 – 23 oz) — still not GRT but much better deal til 7($ 1 less per beer). Also good appetizers. That did it for me. Quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, chips(surprisingly good) m queso were surlrisingly above avg. I thot the quesadillas were outstanding. Someone in our party ordered sliders — I didn’t try any. Still wasn’t very crowded so i was concerned. Anyway, going back this wk, made a reservation and the MGR was extremely nice — how refreshing — ot sounded like he really appreciated our business! The food was so good and rich I felt well, a lil queasy later, BUT that was prob more due to me overeating and my weak stomach., not Grover’s. Thumbs Up(now)

Just moved to the area and went out to find places near my new apartment to eat and I stumbled upon Grover’s. Walk in the door and was immediately greeted by the hostess who was very friendly. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to the moment we got sat. Now the Draft beer is a little to be desired, but I have found since moving to Texas that has become the norm(Only Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors, etc) but they did have Fireman #4 which is a better alternative to the typical light beers. The menu is sort of eclectic, but all seem very intriguing. On the first time I came by I had the Stuffed Chicken Rollups with mac-n-cheese and green beans. Not many places serve fresh green beans with that bit of crunch to them, but Grover’s seemed to get the seasoning and the crispness to everything. Second time I came in to try something different, I had their enchiladas. All I can say about them is that they will put fear into some of the Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. Now the atmosphere is spacious and very aesthetically pleasing. They seem to have an area to the side of the restaurant where I believe they have live music on some nights, and it has another bar inside there. Then there seems to be an upstairs to possibly another room or a patio I am not sure. Overall I will soon become a regular of Grover’s since it is just a walk away from my apartment.

Stick to the burgers, wraps and sandwiches and you won’t be disappointed. Newer restaurant still working on getting it down, but cheaper items are good. Bar looks like a good place to catch a game.

This is my go to neighborhood bar & restaurant. Recently known by another name, Grover’s has had some management changes, name change & menu changes and I’m happy to say I still love the restaurant after all those changes. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. A manager stopped by our table twice to check on us and make sure we had everything we wanted. For dinner I had the white queso dip for an appetizer and a wedge salad with steak. I love white queso & would recommend trying it at Grover’s as it comes with fresh pico mixed in. I also love wedge salads(I’m a blue cheese addict) and for a few extra dollars who wouldn’t add steak to it for the perfect blue cheese/steak combo? Yum. I’m really pleased with the wines by the glass selection which is an improvement over the prior restaurant at this same location. There are TVs tuned to sports so this is also a good place to watch a game with better than typical bar food. I have also ordered take-out twice from Grover’s and got a cheeseburger both times. The burger was good, the meat seasoned well and was a good size. I’m surprised by the low-star reviews posted so far for Grover’s. I definitely recommend checking Grover’s out and plan to go again soon.

Our visit to Grover’s for lunch was our first and last. The space used to be occupied by Berryhill Tamale and Brothers II. Now Grover’s may be the next one to join the ranks of the past two businesses. Just because we enjoy trying new places, we walked into Grover’s for a weekday lunch. The interior is rather comfortable, wide open spaces and plenty of TV’s. The menu is quite boring, an unfocused cluster of random, typical offerings… calamari, fried pickles, ceviche, sliders, queso, fried mozzarella, etc. We started with the white queso. After waiting 15 minutes, a pile of chips, a side of salsa arrived with our queso. The queso was a glutenous mess that you could lay bricks with. The addition of guacamole to it was interesting. For lunch I had the baked potato soup. This was another glutenous mess. Even though the soup was well seasoned it was terribly thick. Given a proper consistency I may have cleaned my bowl. Mrs. H ordered the grilled chicken wrap. This was reviewed as okay but the serving is plenty for two. Service was hit and miss during our lunch. There were no more than eight tables and the kitchen was packed up. While the waitresses were running all over to keep up, the person who I fairly assume was the manager and /or owner was standing at the bar on his laptop oblivious to his restaurant. I’m sure he felt he was doing something important but when the kitchen can’t keep up with eight tables the possibility of turning a first time customer into a repeat customer may be slightly more important… ah…it could be just me. The menu is terribly over priced for what you will receive at Grover’s and especially for the what other area restaurants are offering. From the front door to the menu it just feels like Grover’s was just thrown together.

I would give NO stars if I could. Menu is nothing special. Food tasted dull and boring; has no flavor. All 3 in my party were disappointed in what we ordered. None of us could even finish our items, and it was not because we were already full or the portions were so large. Fried pickles, mushroom burger, tejas sandwich, chicken fried steak. The fried pickles were flavorless except for the ranch and other sauce that came with them. Any possible flavor that the mushroom burger may have had was overshadowed by the excessive use of mayo on the burger; didn’t notice that listed on the menu as included on the burger or would have told them to hold it. The chicken fried steak was served with«peppered gravy»; it barely had any flavor and certainly didn’t taste peppered. Will not be back.

I am sorry to say that the experience I had at Grover’s was not what I had expected, at all. Being that I work in walking distance and the place was new I went for something light and satisfying. I ordered a bowl of soup that was said to be 6.00 dollars, and I believed I would get a good sized bowl and be on my way. Not only was the«bowl» pretty small, but there was hardly any of the ingredients in the soup that the menu mentioned. I was disappointed already and then when I got the check, my disappointment turned quickly to frustration. The menu price was not the same as the price on my check and I was already upset about paying 6.00 dollars for low quality food. Needless to say I departed Grover’s with regret to having even gone in there, and now I am down 9.00 dollars for a bowl of soup that I would have much rather enjoyed from Bueno. Oh, and I was pretty thrown off to see the cook using the microwave… I mean, come on!
