Funny is as funny does. These ladies make it look easy. I attended the Improv workshop courtesy of Culture Club CYE extraordinaire Frances G. First off it was held at a most beautiful home, by the funniest gals I’ve encountered lately. The workshop was not formal yet very informative. I learned some fundamentals of Improv and tips to improve the flow of my daily interactions without trying to insert the funny *here*. Ultimately we had a good time and as one participant put it, gave us a ticket to be weird. These gals are well trained and full of funny. Certified weirdos… careful you may become addicted.

We went to go see Heroine Addiction last night at Mouth. I knew it was a comedy show but for whatever reason I had«Heroin Addiction» in my mind before going and was expecting to see jokes made by people either high on drugs or pretending to be high. Not too long after reaching there, it was clear that I was the one who was high to begin with :) Heroine Addiction is actually a group of girls who happened to have met at the School of Improv hosted by Ad Libs and upon graduation came up with this cool concept of an all girls improv show and went on the road where the show is semi controlled by audience suggestions and partly by one of the girls. You remember watching«Whose Line is it Anyway» by Drew Carrey back in the day? Well, their show is kind of like that except that this one is all women. The show consists of various games /acts that they act out and make you laugh. I won’t spoil the fun for you by revealing them, but they are definitely very creative as they have to come up with new content based on your input so it will be highly unlikely that two shows are exactly the same. Overall the«HA» show is pretty good. I think the group is still fairly new to market but I see great potential here. If you ask me, they should franchise their concept and spin it off with different girl troupes around the country doing the same thing. If they remain small and local, the challenge I see is that with so many members on their cast, the cast might keep changing all the time or the group may fall apart based on unknown factors life may bring their way. But let’s hope for the best and Good Luck to you girls of «Heroine Addiction».

I have been performing improvisational comedy for six years, and I know a good troupe when I see it. This is a good troupe. They have some great games, lots of talent, and — most importantly — they HAVEFUN on stage! If you go see their show, you will have fun, too.
