We visited the Addison location and the food, atmosphere and service were great, as always. They now TAKERESERVATIONS. We no longer have a long wait. We had early reservations so we didn’t run into a crowd. We started with the ‘dip’. Awesome! We ordered steak and Club Salad. Both were fabulous! The Club Salad had crispy chicken and was lightly coated with breading… perfect. My friends said their steaks were perfect also. Of course, you can’t leave without the Hot Apple Pecan Cobbler Alamode. The serving is large so can easily be shared. I’m getting a $ 100 gift card for my son and daughter-in-law. They love the Atlanta Houston’s.

I have been visiting this location for years, and it’s still one of my favorite spots in Addison. The ambiance of the restaurant is upscale casual, with dim lighting, very comfy large red booths in the front dining room. We also enjoy the brighter Atrium with a garden feel, but find often that seating is full in that area. We’ve also sat at the bar a few times which is dark and cozy, but the bar stools with no back can become uncomfortable. Greeted promptly as always by the friendly hostesses and taken to a booth in the middle of the dining room. Ashley, our cute cheerful server, is there almost immediately to take our drink order. Okay, yes, it’s the lunch hour in the middle of the week, but why not enjoy a glass of wine? We quickly rationalized that this was a good reason as we hadn’t seen one another in a while! One Pinot Grigio and one Chardonnay please! We started off with their well known and loved Spinach & Artichoke dip served with salsa, sour cream and chips. Houston’s has mastered this popular app to perfection; creamy with nice chunks of artichokes. The chips were good by most folks standards, but not quite thin enough, salty and oily to my liking; however, disclaimer, I’m quite judgemental when it comes to wafer thin, oily and salty chips! But, that did not deter me from enjoying my share of that luscious dip. We decided to split a burger after chowing down on above app. We ordered a medium burger, with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and Swiss Cheese; of course, had to have a side of fries. Much to our pleasant surprise, Ashley brought the burger already halved on separate plates. What a very nice touch! The burger was perfectly cooked with only a slightly pink center, juicy and nicely seasoned. Those grilled onions were melt in your mouth tender. One half of this large chunk of protein was just right considering our other food consumption. Fries were plump, crispy on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. Service by Ashley could not have been improved upon. Although it was busy, we never felt neglected or ignored! KUDOS to her great representation of her company! It was a very fun and delicious lunch out to catch up on news. We really splurged and indulged in another glass of wine to extend our visit. After all, we had consumed a good amount of food! Hey, just noticed, this is my 400thREVIEW! Wow, finally made it to this fun threshold! YAY for me! Glad it was for one of my favorite dining excursions!

My husband and I have eaten at Houstons on Beltline in Addison for years. My husband had the worst steak he has ever had’today(June 4) about 4:00.He did not quite eat half of it. We brought the rest home and I just put it in the trash. I wanted to say something But he would not let me. He is not the type to complain. We had not been home an hour until his stomach was upset and he got really sick. He said we probably want be going back. Janice Fifield

This is the third time I’ve been to this location over the years. Usually go to the one on Preston. But, I’ve chosen this one twice in the last couple of months because their food is excellent. My only complaint this time was the weak margaritas. That never(ever) happens at the Hillstone at Preston and NW. But worth a stop if you are in the area. Usually end with key lime pie but opted for butternut squash, curry cheesecake. I know doesn’t sound right but it Fabo! Ok, took my granddaughter here for a pre graduation dinner. She loved it as the rest of us did. Food is always phenomenal. Again my only complaint was the 2 weak margaritas. In the past the Houstons margarita was beyond reproach. It’s the only thing keeping this place from achieving legendary status. Please Mr General manager, tell the bartenders to go back to pouring the awesome drink of past.

I enjoyed this place; however I think the dinner menu is bit limited. Food was great and very pricey. You have to be in the mood to eat what they have. Atmosphere is masculine, dark and romantic. Very lively bar and great service.

Went for an impromptu late lunch and ended up in Miranda’s section. That girl is also a chef and knows her s$!t. I asked for something light but protein packed because I had a race the next day. She suggested their special, Loup de Mer(Mediterranean Sea Bass). It was BEYOND perfection and ever SO delicately grilled/basted w olive oil and topped w Spanish Marcona Almonds, salt, pepper, parsley and fresh squeezed lemon. Heads up Houstons: u should totally add this to ur menu and I would drive out of my bubble more often. Ck out my pic I posted!

I’ve visited Houston’s a couple of times over the years. We ventured in after seeing my cousin perform a flawless recital. The wait was a little lengthy for a party of 6(2 kiddos), but service was great. I opted for a burger and it was good. I also like their club salad and pork fillet. The best, however, is that flattering low restaurant lighting. Give them a whirl.

I really wanted to rate my first experience at Houston’s with 5 stars because it’s definitely worth it! But if it weren’t for that standoffish host we encountered, that’d be the case. This is my mom’s favorite restaurant so I called the Tuesday before Mother’s Day to make a reservation for two at 6p. I thought about calling again a day before to confirm but figured«Houston’s is a pretty upscale restaurant, there’s no way they’d mess it up.» Whoomp. I stand corrected. Arrived Sunday 5 minutes before 6p. Stood in front of the hostess for a good 20 seconds without being acknowledge. Granted, I’m sure she was busy but a simple«I’ll be right with you» is more than enough for me. Without looking up from her screen she asks«Can I help you?» …Lolz. Alrighty. I mentioned the reservation, she said there wasn’t a reservation under that name, double checked her list, proceeded to ask how many it was for again, checked her list once more, & just shook her head«Hmm, no. I don’t see it.» Maybe I called the wrong place? I pulled up the my call history to confirm with her that I called the correct restaurant. She was slightly agitated when I did this. She responded«Yes. That’s our phone number.» And then just stared at me… JUSTSTARED. As if to say«AND?!? You’re still not on the list.» Keeping my composer & in a polite tone, I asked for a manager. Which should not have needed to happen. If she had, in anyway, been the slightest of a decent hostess, she would have tried to figure out what she could have done before it resorted to that. However, it turned out to be quick & painless anyway. The manager on duty, Marianne was super accommodating & mentioned that there wasn’t much of a wait for two. We were then seated shortly after the ordeal. I ordered a Riesling & my mom ordered a Margarita to kick off Mother’s Day. The drinks were both tasty! We went with the Ciabatta Cheese Toast to start. It was good but tasted like it was missing something. It just needed a little more flavor. However, for the main course, I went with the Faroe Island Salmon & it was cooked to perfection! Super tender & flaky with lots of flavor. The food was yummy! Our waiter was awesome! And Marianne was fantastic! Just as expected from people who know how to run a successful restaurant. But that host really put a slight damper on both our moods. But there’s still 4 stars. Nonetheless, I would still recommend checking out this restaurant!

Took my friend from Germany here. He said he wanted steak, so since we went in Austin we can here. The spinach dip is awesome… Heck everything here was awesome… Except for the $$$! Prime rib was cooked perfectly and the tomatoes and cheese complimented the dish. I had a couple beerz… I think they were Lakewood IPA or something. All though this place is pricey, the food is awesome. Very social environment of all types. Short, jeans, dress pants… It don’t matter.

I’ve been a Houston’s addict since the late 1980s. It’s my favorite! Not only is the food always great, the service is impeccable, too. My husband proposed to me there, so it holds a special place in my heart and is always a place I enjoy. Our absolute favorite appetizer is the smoked salmon. Out of this world and ALWAYS fresh! We usually request a little extra tartar sauce because it is so good, you could eat it with a spoon. The spinach artichoke dip is a very close second and is the best in town in my opinion. My favorite salad is the grilled chicken salad with peanut sauce. Again, it is always fresh, and I love the flavors of the chicken, the peanut sauce, the greens, and veggies mixed together. It is a big portion, and I often have some to take home. When they have red fish covered with popcorn shrimp as the special, get it! It is wonderful. Any fish dish is good as they only serve very fresh fish with their twist on preparation. The pork chops are also very nicely done — never dry, always flavorful. The mashed potatoes as a side are SO good… so tasty. To be honest, I’ve never had anything on the menu that I didn’t enjoy. We’re usually so full from a great meal, we don’t have room for dessert. So then sometimes we go to Houston’s just for dessert and coffee! The hot fudge sundae is magical, and the key lime is to die for. One thing setting Houston’s apart is the service. It truly is a team effort. If a server is passing your table and notices your iced tea needs to be refilled, he/she will bring a whole new fresh glass of tea, whether or not he/she is your assigned server. The waitstaff is well-trained, stealth in their movements, and most attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is is suitable for a business meal but casual enough for a Saturday afternoon lunch. And no cell phones are permitted in the dining room — another plus in my book. Simply put, run — do not walk — to Houston’s today!

A lively populated place for an awesome lunch We waited about 15 minutes for our table during peak lunch period. The hostess easily identified us and escorted us to our table The server was efficient and professional The iced tea was perfectly brewed and very refreshing with a packet of sweet and low My lunch pals ordered the grouper sandwich that was HUGE and delicious. Both of them loved it I had the seared ahi salad that was also delicious and hit the spot I miss Houston’s in LA and will be back to this location next trip to Dallas

It’s rare I give 5 stars and this place is rare. Let me start by saying the service here is better that some Michelin star joints I have eaten at. The décor reminds me I am a new Yorker in Dallas in a good way. Our food was absolutely perfect. The plates are HOT. We started with the onion rings, must be double or tripled dipped crunchy as ever and piping hot. I had the Thursday special smoked prime rib sandwich and I got roasted veg. Well, it was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time! The sandwich bottom had arugula and picked onions with a tasty vinaigrette. The roasted veg were done over cooked but spot on crunchy and they had these tiny red peppers that were so freaking good never seen them before. We are coming back here again in a few weeks. This place hits the mark on all notes, really enjoyable meal.

Hubby and I were aware of the priciness of Houston’s before we attended, however, we were under the impression that the food would be divine. Not only are there not a lot of menu options, but there aren’t a lot of non alcoholic drink options. The waiter informed us that all soft drinks were by bottle. So we decided on water to save a few extra bucks, we see a family close to us drinking what looks like lemonade so we ask about that, a mistake asking the waiter might I add as he was clearly annoyed. The lemonade only comes with one refill he says. Upon looking at the menu I was confused because I was told there were a few more options not on the menu. The few other options are all seafood options. If you are not a seafood fan or are allergic like myself this is not the place for you. We got the spinach dip which was okay, but I’ve had better and warmer might I add. My hubby got the prime steak, $ 45 for two small pieces of steak that are flavorless. I got the cheeseburger with what I thought to be just mayo, the waiter«forgot» that I wanted mayo only no mustard so the burger had to be sent back. Upon arriving my fries were cold and burger not all that tasty for the cost to be close to $ 20,(I can make frozen fries at home). Our waiter was very rude and impatient with the questions we had as new diners and they were not even that busy. Overall the experience was not worth $ 80. This place only has 4.5 stars because of all their seafood items, not the service or anything else. The restaurant should expand its menu. For it to be such a small menu they are not doing a good job perfecting it. There is too much competition for our experience to have been this bad. And to our rude waiter. I hope you do not treat all your guests like you did us and still work there. The«service» you gave was pitiful. Also, when someone serving in our military and is about to deploy(which is a reason we attended such a «fancy» restaurant) and are curious if you do military discount don’t chuckle, we have/had more than enough money for our food, we ask about military discounts so we continually support those that support the military and to tell other military families as well. Be respectful.

Very upscale steakhouse with a nice atmosphere and friendly waitstaff. Ordered some cheese toast appetizer, Gulf Coast Fish Sandwich, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries. The food was good. A little too much salad dressing on the salad, but I’ll ask for it on the side next time. Overall, a good experience.

Houston’s(or Hillstone depending on whether they’ve re-branded your Houston’s) is a few notches above regular chain restaurants. It’s definitely in the high-end category and that is evident in both the prices and the quality of the food. A pair of medium-size crab cakes sets me back $ 34 which is expensive but also a mandatory meal for this transplanted Maryland boy. They use mostly lump meat and they’re delicious. They also make great burgers here — freshly ground each day — and those will cost you $ 16. My 11-year old son says they’re the best in the biz and who am I to argue with him. My wife and daughter usually go for the Hawaiian Ribs, which cost $ 28 and offer enough to feed two light eaters. Houston’s doesn’t have a kid’s menu but they offer up chicken fingers, burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches for those kind-hearted children who don’t want to bury their parents in debt. For dessert, we usually go for the Brownie Sundae, which is just awesome and worth every penny of the $ 8 price tag. The wait staff is very well-trained and professional and they will even fix your kid a Shirley Temple upon request. It’s definitely at the top of our list of places to eat but at over $ 100/meal, we won’t be going there every night. Finally, it should be mentioned that their hostesses are hopelessly optimistic in predicting your seating time. It’s a bit like converting dog years to human years, except they use a factor of 3 rather than 7. In Houston’s case, a «ten minute wait» will usually translate to a 30-minute wait. You’ve been warned.

I like me some Houston’s! I can never find a time to come when they are not packed, so I usually have to wait, but I have to say, it is always worth the wait! While they have a wide variety of salads, steaks, seafood, and sandwiches, my all-time go-to is the Prime Rib French Dip. It is absolutely delicious and I am saying that as someone who does not even typically care for french dip sandwiches. You can also never go wrong with the Fish Sandwich, just be sure to ask what kind of fish is on it on any given day as it does change from day to day. All of them I have tried have been good, I just know some people have preferences on what kind of fish they are going to eat. I would love to comment on their desserts, but honestly I have never made it THAT far into my meal as their portions are pretty generous and I always leave stuffed. I have been with folks who have ordered dessert and according to my friends that have, they say they are pretty darn good as well!

For a steakhouse, this place is pretty standard. We came for birthday reservations, showed up ON time, and still ended up waiting about 30 minutes before they could get us a table. That’s okay, we don’t mind waiting… but when we finally got a table, they split our group up into a booth and a different table??? Really? We made reservations for 9, and this is the best they could do? Urgh. The food and service made up for the inconvenience. Servers were attentive and made great wine and food recommendations. Based on the fabulous Unilocal reviews, we ordered the spinach & artichoke dip, which apparently is a must. It was served with store bought salsa and sour cream on the side. odd for spinach & artichoke, but nevertheless the dip itself was delicious. However, the house-smoked salmon won this round. The salmon was cooked to perfection and was served with a chilled dill sauce and toast triangles. I loved it so much and was sad to eat the last bite. Entrees were very impressive. Again, you Unilocalers were true to your taste buds; I was blown away by the Hawaiian rib eye(loaded mashed potato on the side is a must) and the seared ahi tuna salad. The flavors in the salad were phenomenal and the dressing was savory & not overdone. The rib eye was tender and full of that sweet Hawaiian zest. We brought our own birthday cake, but saw another party get served a little slice of cake with a single lit candle. All in all, I’d come back to try other menu items. –xo

This place is a classic, it’s been around for, I feel like, forever. I’ve never had a bad thing at Houston’s and that is the truth. Whether you want to just unwind after a long, tiring day at work or it’s date night, or it’s just you and your girlfriends, Houston’ is the best for pretty much any occasion and you will always leave your table satisfied and happy. If you really want to experience what Houston’s is known for, you can’t go there and not order their Spinach & Artichoke Dip. It’s the best, «often imitated, but never duplicated.» They serve it hot, with fresh salsa and sour cream. Delicious combination! Now something new I’ve fallen in love with, is their House-Smoked Salmon. Very simple, outstanding flavor. The salmon is flaky, cooked perfectly. Served with this dill sauce I believe, and toast triangles. Love it! Houston’s is just an all around great place Ruth great food and great people. If all else fails, Houston’s will definitely hit the spot.

I would actually go a strong 4.5 stars for Houston’s. Our experience was very, very good and I have only small quibbles. The place gets very busy on the weekends, especially for dinner, so it was good that we made a reservation. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer and it was excellent. The fish was perfectly moist and tender with a hint of smoke, not at all overpowering. We then split a Caesar salad. The leaves were chopped into small pieces, which was different. The salad was good but not among the best I have had. I ordered the Ahi Tuna for an entrée and it was very good, right up there with tuna I’ve had at Hibiscus and Kenny’s. I wish the waitress had told me that it came with a salad and I would not have ordered the Caesar, which because of the large portions was completely superfluous anyway. The star of the dinner was the French Dip, ordered by the wife. It was nothing short of phenomenal and the best either of us have ever had in our lives. By far. The meat is prime rib cooked perfectly. The meat is tender and seasoned perfectly. It comes with excellent au jus and horseradish dip. Wow, it was good. We can never go back to the French Dip that uses thin deli meat. There were fries on the side that were crispy and perfect. I had a draft beer which costs $ 7 and it was not a pint, looked more like 12 ounces, so that is really expensive I thought. All in all it was a $ 100 dinner but the quality made it worth it. Our service was friendly, informative, and courteous. This restaurant is definitely one that we will return for French Dip and to check out other items on the menu.
