Great ice cream and awesome staff! The décor has a cute soda pop vibe and they make all of their ice cream in house. 1 scoop of ice cream is $ 3, 2 scoops are $ 4, and 3 scoops are $ 5. I love that Howdy’s provides opportunities for those with special needs. I wish more businesses would do this!

Yea… Not a creamery like I hoped. This place had so much promise with its 4.5 stars and cute décor and welcoming sign. I just expected better ice cream. No matter how cute and charming this place is decorated or the gold plastic spoons that are so fricking cute… And very friendly service from possibly high school kids. Those cannot tempt me to come back for possibly the worst(or close 2nd) ice cream I’ve had. Sorry to be blunt. They have a neon sign«now churning»(or something like that) that’s turned ON, hanging above an entry doorway to their kitchen I assume. My brother asked, «what flavor are y’all churning back there?» The server looked confused. He had no idea what that meant. And my brother had to clarify his question, asking if they’re making ice cream back there, the sign is ON. And the boy said no, they’re not making anything right now. That sign is always on. So we don’t know if the ice cream is made in house. (A Christina L. Just messaged me yelling at me that I’m an asshole and«unintelligent» for making fun of special needs kids. Let me clarify: I do not know if this establishment is affiliated with special needs. I have no idea and cannot tell if the employees are or have special needs. This is the first I’m hearing about this establishment and their affiliation with special needs. In fact, I never even mentioned anything about special needs. This review and its rating is based entirely on the ice cream quality. In fact, I love the servers and thought they were very friendly. The establishment is very cute and chic. I have no problems about that. Just the ice cream quality. It’s sad when people judge others calling them names when they should look at themselves.) So the ice cream… For an up and coming fad of ice cream shops… This ice cream was not rich in the sense of creamy. We got the chocolate. And it was rich. But more powdered chocolately rich. The ice cream itself was runny, ice-y, sugar crystallized(not sure if that description is explanatory), lacking of creaminess. Very third rate blue bell. I am someone who used to enjoy blue bell but now enjoy the more richness and creaminess, natural taste of Haagen-daz or marble slab. I think the most DISTURBING fact was… Their vanilla FLAVORED ice cream was bright yellow. BRIGHT yellow. I thought it should have been lemon or banana or something else but vanilla. If a shop or brand’s plain vanilla is terrible, how do you expect to have good ice cream? So yes. Super nice, chic, new place in a nice shopping area. They may do well for a while. But this ice cream is definitely not for me. I gave 2 stars because the workers are super nice and friendly and the place is very cute and«adorbs». But that’s it. Their main product did not deliver.

Good ice cream with unique flavors. The Dr. Pepper with chocolate chips is the reason to come here, it tastes exactly like it sounds! The strawberry flavor had a healthy amount of strawberries chunks in it and had a good flavor throughout. Skip the waffle cone as it is the worst part, they tasted bland/store bought and distracted from the delicious flavor of the ice cream. Luckily this place doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for the ice cream. A fair price of $ 3 for a scoop and a waffle cone is a steal in Dallas.

Good ice cream, unique, great-tasting along with fair prices, but nothing stood out to the point of wanting to eat it everyday. If your in the area stop

All that glitters is not gold. With their shiny«HOWDY» sign,(fake)gold spoons, and five star rating, you’d expect ice cream better than you’ve ever had your entire life. It is not. The ice cream alone is indistinguishable from any chain ice cream(other than possibly a being little more«melty»). Sure they may have invented Dr Pepper Chocolate Chip ice cream, but I can assure you Dr Pepper ice cream has been a thing long before, and if adding chocolate chips to an ice cream flavor is novel… well then sure, Howdy are super innovators. You don’t come here just for the ice cream, though. You come for the family owned aspect, the friendly greeting when you walk in, the opportunities for employment they give to those with special needs, the newness and hipness. I may have seemed harsh at first, but I just didn’t want anyone to cross the seven seas for the world’s best ice cream when it isn’t much better than the gelato down the block. The world really does have a shortage of mom and pop ice cream shops, and in more than one way Howdy makes the world a better place.

Best icecream in Dallas! Great staff, ice cream, and very clean store. Ask the staff about their cause. They hire all workers with special needs!

I like the concept for this ice cream shop but I was not that impressed with the actual ice cream. The flavors were sort of bland and boring. The texture was quite grainy. I was expecting a much creamier and smooth texture. $ 3 a scoop is also kind of high for this quality of ice cream. I know they are new, so maybe it will improve.

You must try this place and support this business. The Dr Pepper chocolate chip Ice Cream is awesome! I’m hooked on it and don’t even like Dr Pepper. This place has the most amazing customer service and employs people with disabilities. Such a great thing and even better that the ice cream rocks!

Had to come over and try the Dr Pepper ice cream! It was so good! After finding parking(it’s a super small lot, so good luck), you walk up to a darling purple door that oozes charm and character. The inside is a quintessential ice cream parlor, and it’s darling. We were handed samples of fun flavors without even having to ask for them — great customer service. The flavors all tasted exactly like the thing they were named after(Starburst candy, Hot Tamale candy, Dr Pepper, etc) and they were all delicious. On another note, I whole-heartedly agree with the philosophy of this business and their willingness to hire employees with disabilities. We’ll be back again and again.

I had read about Howdy Homemade somewhere and wrote it down to try. I finally got around to stopping in this weekend. I was promptly greeted upon walking in by unusually friendly staff that wanted to get to know me and make sure I tried all the flavored i desired. I tried the Cookie Monster– a cookies n cream ice cream with mint, and the Dr Pepper chocolate chip which was outrageous. I walked out of there with two scoops, one scoop more than I intended but I devoured every last bite. The icing on the cake was the gold spoons– I think they were a great touch! I plan to come back and will suggest to others. I truly love that there is a homemade ice cream place locally that is not a chain as Dallas seems to love those. This is a diamond in the rough.

We found this ice-cream shop through Unilocal after finishing dinner and are so happy we tried it! Howdy Homemade hands down serves the best cookie’n cream ice-cream. It’s called the Cookie Monster and its presentation lives up to the name. The ice cream is blue and has fresh oreo/chocolate cookies. Every bite was bliss! Definitely will be coming back for more ice-cream!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! An uplifting and wonderful experience. Fun flavors, would take off points for minion flavor but I guess I can admit that some people like the minions, and those points are made up for with the fact that they gave me free samples without me asking. 10⁄10 would swallow again. (UPDATE): Can you follow people on Unilocal?Follow me on Unilocal I make gr8 suggestions. Do it.

Howdy Homemade has everything that all ice cream shops should have: delicious and unique flavors, friendly and helpful staff, and super cute décor! I tried the huckleberry and Dr. Pepper. Both were very good! When I went, they had two huckleberry ice creams. The gentleman behind the counter explained that there were two kinds because the huckleberries came from two different sources. Very cool! As for the Dr. Pepper… SOSOGOOD! It lived up to the hype, and it tasted extremely similar to the soda. I totally recommend huckleberry and Dr. Pepper. I cannot wait to come back and try more flavors!

I was craving something sweet that was near Greenville and Howdy Homemade was recommended. Wow, this place really is as good as it gets. Cookie Monster icecream? Really? My choice was easy! It was delicious and didn’t make me feel heavy. The husband indulged in their popular Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip and let me tell you, INCREDIBLE! I only wish that I had found this place during the Blue Bell debacle. I’ll never buy a pint or gallon of that again, Howdy Homemade is definitely worth the drive.

I was browsing local news online when I saw an article from D Magazine about Howdy Homemade. What caught my attention was that the store and business concept was specifically designed to provide jobs for adults with special needs, most of which are very capable of working in jobs. What brought me in was their specialty ice cream: Dr Pepper Chocolate Chip. I drove over, found the place, and walked in. I was greeted with an excited«Howdy!» and asked if I came in to try any specific flavors. I was picking some up for a birthday party, so I tried the Dr Pepper Chocolate Chip as well as Thunderbolt Vanilla and Classic Vanilla. The Dr Pepper is incredible, with hints of cherry, almond, and of course the famous blend of 23 flavors. The ice cream was so soft and I was given a big plastic spoonful of each sample so that I could decide which I wanted to pick up. I ended up getting a pint each of the Dr Pepper and Thunderbolt Vanilla(which is bright yellow). The DP was already in a pint in the freezer but they had to scoop out a pint of Thunderbolt, which was done with a big smile. Everyone that I came in contact with during my visit was kind and very enthusiastic about helping me find the perfect ice cream, as well as very thankful for my visit into their store. The concept is great but the execution of the concept is what I believe will make Howdy Homemade a huge success in Dallas.

Here’s the thing… you can go anywhere in Dallas for a scoop of ice cream but you won’t get THIS ice cream. Nothing out there compares to this place. The quality, the passion for great ice cream and the friendliness is what you won’t find run by some larger companies, usually a 16÷17÷18 year old high school kid that doesn’t care if you never come back that can’t put their phone down long enough to pay attention to what you want as a paying customer. I went with 2 friends and sampled several flavors, but by the time we sampled the Peanut Butter and Jelly Ice Cream, the search was over. The ice cream did our deciding for us. This is what you want if you had to choose one thing for your last meal. Hand made, in the store, this tiny little shop, will win over even the most skeptical critic. You want frozen and boring? Go somewhere else. You want to fall in love and find your next 10 – 12 Favorite new flavors?, go to Howdy Homemade. Try it. You. Will. Love. It.

This is a cool place to meet up with a friend for an ice cream soda, sandwich, or a dip(of Ice Cream that is). We took the kids over the weekend and we were able to sit down, but barely. The place was packed with those who believe that the best way to bring in 2016 and to beat the cold is with the cold and interesting ice cream flavors. The team of special needs employees have a smile and a «Howdy» to warm the air and bring a smile to the grumpiest of customers!

Homemade Ice Cream on the premises with fun unique ingredients(dr pepper, hot tamales, huckleberry, drip coffee… etc.) The smiling Special Needs Team that runs the place will great you with a big HOWDY when you open the door! *BTW…besides ice cream… their chicken salad sandwiches(somebody’s grandma’s secret recipe or something on empire bakery bread) are ridiculously good!
