I joined Impact Fitness because it was near my home and the price was right. The first few months were great because I really enjoyed that they offered free wifi so I could watch/listen to anything while I worked out. But I quickly learned I had been mislead when I signed up and that the trainers didn’t hold up. I had been told I could freeze my membership at anytime without a fee. but it turns out you could only freeze your membership with a note from your doctor. I had also been told that the special I bought for 3 training sessions would last for 12 months, turned out they expired after 3 months so I lost my money. Lastly the trainer I did work with had no experience in physical fitness training(she told me during our session) and the second trainer I signed up with called in sick but didn’t cancel our appointment or return my texts afterwards. I wanted to share so others new before they signed up. Be sure to read all the fine print closely and research your trainer before hand.

This is my new favourite gym. I was shopping for a new gym because of the issues I was having with LA Fitness so when I found this, I couldn’t WAIT to cancel my membership at LA. They have an incredible crossfit area that pretty much sealed the deal for me. Yeah, it doesn’t have quite the equipment that the other corporate gyms have, but the crossfit area more than makes up for it. The staff are great and very welcoming. They even try to know your name so they greet you when they see you.

This gym is a joke. They are so desperate to get clients they text me like 3 times a week. Someone named Kameron. Very rude. I went to the gym one time, and have been harassed via text and voicemails ever since. I go to LA Fitness it is way better and the equipment is way nicer than Impact Fitness. This was was previously Golds Gym and failed, they just threw a new name on it. Don’t waste your time look at the reviews. LA Fitness will let you pay month to month and will negotiate their initiation fee. I didn’t pay one at all and pay $ 25 a month. They have plenty of equipment, you never have to wait. They also offer fitness classes for women as well as cycling classes, pool classes, and have racquet ball courts. Don’t waste your time with this gym and being harassed. Look elsewhere.

I can understand other reviewers frustration with having to pay a months extra dues after canceling their membership. All I can say is that you run into this with other businesses that you have a contract with — for instance, home security services. That having been said, I don’t understand the criticism that the place is dirty. I have been going to Impact(formerly Golds) for years and I always see the cleaning staff busy at work. Plus, it’s an old building. And, when things get old things begin to not work so well. Take it from someone who knows. All in all, given the price and the location, Impact Fitness is a pretty good deal. And, if you don’t want to sign a contract the price is still reasonable for what you get.

I have been to several gyms in Dallas. Impact is not only affordable. But offers the widest variety of classes. Most of them stay packed, so very there early. My faves are black light cycling and Chakra yoga. Impact offers child care at no extra cost and the swimming pool is open for families 1 to 5 all summer. Racquetball courts and Crossfit gym stay busy but not too busy. Plus they have at least 10 trainers so you can take your pick if you want one on training. All this plus steam room and sauna for 20 $ a month. It’s a steal.

Like other reviewers I thought I canceled my membership, only to receive a letter from a collections agency months later. I canceled in person with an employee, signed an iPad, and was told to have a nice day. I never received confirmation, and the employee gave me no further instruction past that. Reporting them to the BBB.

This place has become really run down over the past couple of years. Equipment is poorly maintained and the facilities are not clean. It is not uncommon for a machine to remain broken for several weeks. Staff seems more preoccupied with adding new members than keeping current members happy, probably because most are locked in with a contract. These deficiencies have intensified since they have transitioned from Gold’s to Impact Fitness. I recently cancelled my membership after my contractual obligation was over and they still assessed a one-month penalty. This was stipulated in the original contract I signed with Gold’s, but I never signed any such contract with Impact Fitness, so I’m not sure how much water it would hold if it were legally challenged. I ended up just paying the fee in the hope that I can move on. If they assess any further fees, as some other reviewers have suggested, I will not hesitate to file a small claim. Avoid this place.

James D.(the previous reviewer) is spot on. I also tried to sever my membership, but was told that I had to come in, in person, or to send a registered letter to do so. When I finally found the time to come in to quit the place, it was past my billing date. So – YAY! — I got billed for another month of belonging to a rundown, neglected gym that I regret joining. Like many Unilocalers, I try to support locally owned enterprises. When Impact Fitness replaced Gold’s Gym, I was hoping the place would start to turn around. Instead, it went downhill(shower stalls had no shower curtains, the men’s jacuzzi was murkier than ever, the daycare’s main feature is a loud television). As a bonus service, because my debit card information had changed, I started getting daily robocalls asking me to contact the gym to update my information. When I called the number given in the robocall, during the requested time, I got voicemail. I played phone tag with Mr. Robocall for a solid week. I finally had to go to the gym to give them my new credit card information. This place should change its name to «Negative Impact Fitness.»

If 0 stars was an option it would certainly be given. If you like being told you owe them money after you have already closed your account with them, then, this is the place for you. However, I do not appreciate such practices. I closed my account, then they wanted to charge me some extra fee which I was unaware of. Months later, out of the blue I am called by an collection agency telling me I have a delinquent balance. After calling the gym to clarify I was told it would take several days for them to get an answer from their corporate office. After calling THEM I was told that in the terms and conditions I signed I was liable for the $ 39 extra fee which after already closing my account and months of not knowing about this fee it turns into a $ 179.00 fee that I am now responsible for. You have now been warned about this place.
