Klyde Warren Park

Okay – took my teenager and her friends to Klyde Warren. Remember the movie Enchanted – the part in Central Park where the entire park burst into song?! That happened. No joke, maybe a little less singing. They started a beat. There was some musicians there and they picked it up and the next thing you know half the park is dancing.
Everyone should have that happen once and I’m a huge fan of the park because that’s just the kind of park it is.
What a lovely place.

Eh. I mean, it’s a park. If the weather’s nice, it’s packed. The food trucks are the main draw, in my opinion. I suppose if I had kids it might be more appealing, but if I had kids in tow I wouldn’t necessarily want to battle traffic and find parking downtown just to hang out at a park for a while; maybe if I were already doing something else downtown I’d stop by.
We’ve taken out of town visitors to Klyde Warren on multiple occasions and everyone’s always like «sooooo, this is cool because???». It’s nice if we’re grabbing a bite to eat nearby (hellooo, Lark on the Park!) or soaking up some nearby culture (DMA is free, don’t mind if I do!), but I don’t recommend coming the KWP for the park itself unless you happen to live/​work nearby.

Nice lively park in the heart of Dallas. Place was FULL on a nice 75 degree day in January. A bunch of food trucks with different options and lines were fairly long so we didn’t get to try any of them this time.
Would be nice if it wasn’t so crowded but not much can be done about that other than make another park somewhere.

Im just discovering this park! My daughter took me here yesterday and after seeing this amazing park that sits right over the highway I’m just thinking how hard it will be to leave Texas to go back to Michigan in a few months. The dog part of the park was really nice and no dogs were fighting they played like little kids it was amazing to see them get along. There was about 4 food trucks out plus there was a like a building in the middle selling hotdogs and soda and other random stuff. There were many there just sitting out reading or eating. I hear they do Yoga out there on certain days. Whoever thought of this idea putting a park over the highway needs an award! Now that i know about it i will go there alot! Oh my daughter says there are concerts there in the summer and at night the lights are really pretty.

I really like Klyde Warren. There are always fun little things to do there. I wish there was easier/​cheaper parking. Lines can take forever for food trucks. Overall, great place

Great hangout place in Dallas. Walkable to lots of other fun «touristy» places for Dallas, including the Arts district. There are lots of activities to do – dog park, food trucks, frisbees, soccer, ping pong, etc. There is also a place you can get drinks and sit out on a patio to people watch and just hang.
The area is very clean with great views of the downtown area. There have been times where I’ve walked by at night and there’s been a free concert playing.

Hellooooo Klyde! This here folks isn’t your ordinary park. It’s definitely classy. This may be the only park you can get away with wearing boots or heels and still slightly be dressed appropriately. Got sneakers? Come on. Got heels? You come on too! And, as many other reviewers have mentioned, one of the best attractions are the food trucks that line up daily — Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. — 3 p.m. Come to eat if anything. That’s honestly the main reason I came.
We metered park for about $.25/​hr for up to 10 hours max. There’s also a number on the meter which allows for you to call and pay for the meter by phone. Might as well pop in another quarter and mosey on over to the DMA across the street of you have time too.
The park has place for the kids, the dogs, the readers, the lunchers, the snackers, and we’re not mad about it! Plenty of seating too. In the summer the children’s area makes for great water play. Adults must be accompanied with a kid in this area by the way.
We ordered some pretty decent street tacos for $ 2.25 each. They were about the size of our pinky (exaggeration) and we ate again shortly after, but hey… we did it with smiles.
They have a schedule of events posted in the park (many health and fitness related) too. It’s easy to see the park quickly, but it’s certainly a nice one to see. Check it out or take an out of town guest!

Must-​do if you’re in the Dallas area. I recommend checking out Savor (which is located right inside Klyde Warren). There’s also lots of great food trucks that are around the park. In the summer, the park hosts several little festivals and family friendly events.
The view is great! An absolutely gorgeous location and it’s honestly great to sit here, relax, and enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend. There’s lots of tables and seats.

Awesome public space!
Wide grassy areas surrounded by Downtown, it’s a perfect place for a walk. Not only that but it’s a great place to sit and people watch. The whole park has chairs and tables you can readjust for different configurations if you want to sit somewhere else or if you’re riding with a 10 person posse. Went around lunchtime and there are perfect spots for food trucks by the seating so there were a good 5 – 6 culinary delights to choose from (from Italian to Asian fusion to Maine seafood fare).
Located a stone’s throw from DMA, it provides a perfect rest for your eyes or a perfect place to just hang out on a beautiful sunny, cool day. It also happened to be the site of the Rose Bowl’s Battle of the Bands and fared very well against two large marching bands with frills (MSU and Alabama). Including the very large fan base that accompanied both.

There’s much to like about this park, starting with the boldness of its location right in the middle of a busy city, atop a highway no less. It demands to be seen and enjoyed, which explains why you’ll find people there all throughout the day.
There’s something for everyone here: a dog park, a playground, food trucks and a fancy restaurant on site, walking path, large grassy lawn shadowed by a stage area, a mobile library, and my favorite feature: the restrooms! Within the play area is the best park restroom I’ve ever seen! It’s clean, spacious, and bright with a unique modern design.
The imperfect rating is due to the chairs. Twice, my kid has slipped through the gaping space where the backing and the seat are supposed to meet, once hitting her head on the concrete. Surely there are more complete seats that compliment the park’s design. For now, we avoid eating at the park and we sit on the lawn when it’s open.

What a great addition to the downtown arts district! The park was built over Woodall Rogers — such great greenspace where nothing else was before!

The rumor is this Klyde kid has a tree house inside his room, and has a park named after him… Awesome!!!
I don’t think I can say very much about the park that hasn’t been said in previews reviews. This park is amazing and Dallas really needed it!
My tip would definitely be to check the park’s calendar for fun events. They pair up with museums around and provide great family activities.
I always take my relatives from out of town here, and it seems as if their is always something going on.
I love this park!

I stopped by the park on a Saturday night when it was lined with food trucks with some friends. I was just a little late to catch my desired food truck, so instead I found a quiet little man making snow cones and had one. (If you are here and see this him and his cart, do buy one, they are delicious)
The park was very well kept and full of life, kids playing in splashing fountains, and a lot to walk around and see if you aren’t from the area.

Great park with lots of activities and fun through the week.
I live nearby so I’ve had a chance to visit quite often.
The park often has food trucks at all hours, but don’t always count on them. The most popular hours (think weekends and evenings) has numerous and varied food truck options.
They also have Savor Restaurant and a café in the park for sit down options.
Multiple and free game options abound… just check out equipment for golf, table tennis, etc from the concierge.
The dog park is actually a glorified dog run… but nice, with artificial grass, a fire hydrant and even a cool water feature if your pooch enjoys frolicking in the water.
They host lots of events… must are free… concerts, viewing events, fairs, art exhibitions, etc. all great fun.
Th place can get very busy and crowded, but seems you can always find a spot to hang out.
I want to address some things I saw in other reviews… the turf is NOT fake in the park, it’s real grass. In fact the re-​sod frequently to address damage from constant use.
Parking…yes it’s in downtown… but there are numerous options including a free troll that stops right in the park, RAIL that is walking distance and parking that is not expensive a couple blocks away.
Finally someone said this place was small… this is a huge park, including dog park, children’s area, performance stage, and lots of seating.
It can get crowded, but some positives to counter that negative: no smoking is strictly enforced, security personnel are all over, and the park has free wi-​fi!
If you can find serious fault in this park, you’re not going to find a palatable park!

Roxanne K’s review nailed KWP. I would just like to add a few things to what she said.
The grass is fake. Apparently, all the foot traffic and dog urine killed all the real grass. However, fake grass sucks. I don’t feel like I’m in a park when the grass is fake. Also, since finding that out, it makes me think twice about sitting or playing on the grass.
There is a children’s playground in one corner of the park, but other than that, this park is for adults. This might be a good place to go for a date: there are food trucks and a bar.
The park is small. In fact, I was surprised at how small it was. It was so crowded that walking the length of it was a pain in the arse rather than being enjoyable. There is not room to run around or play. A group of kids were trying to play soccer, and people constantly were walking through their game.
Roxanne’s review touched on this and I totally agree: why would anyone load up their kids and drive them into the traffic hell that is downtown, park in parking hell, and take them to an over-​crowded park? My guess is because some lame-​ass parents want to have a social happy hour while the kids are entertained (and not supervised) at the playground. Case and point: so many women were wearing high heels at the playground the turf was damaged and heels are now banned. Who the F is wearing heels to a kid’s play ground? This has got to be women who are dressed up because they’re at an adult happy hour.
The neighborhood parks have open space, real grass, picnic tables, and some of them have creeks and tennis courts. The parks at White Rock Lake, Bachman Lake, and Joe Pool Lake are particularly large. They just lack a bar, and this is why coolers were invented.
It just seems to me that KWP is more of a social scene that a traditional park — and that is fine. I am glad there is another green space downtown. Since it’s not in my neighborhood though, I will not be going again.
The only thing that could make this park more of a douche-​magnet is if they get valet parking. I expect that any day now.

This park is perfection! On top of the freeway, Klyde Warren Park is the green spacious oasis in the crowded Dallas downtown, and under a good weather, a perfect place to relax either at the many clean tables and lawn. The big plus especially for a foodie like me is that there are plenty of food trucks lined up along the Woodall Rogers that flaks the perimeter, so you don’t have to relax with food!
Both ways of the M-​Line trolley stop at the park, and the park is located right by the Dallas Museum of Art, so especially if you are exploring the art district, take a break at Klyde Warren Park!

The best way up spend a Sunday! Rather you like sports, games, reading, playing in water, eating, drinking, poetry etc etc then this is the place for you!
They have something for everyone!
Kids were having a blast and the birds were chirping. It’s spacious and have a lot of options to suite anyone’s needs or request!

This is definitely a family friendly park filled with small water fountains for kids to run around in and cheap food truck options. I absolutely love this park when I first saw it in person. It’s very well maintained and clean and the most surprising part was that the bathrooms at the park was extremely well kept for a park! It was air conditioned and you feel refreshed after leaving the park. They even have clean sinks outside equipped with soap dispensers for kids playing outside to wash their hands.
Klyde park is very different compared to most parks I’ve ever been to and that’s a good thing! The happy clean environment and multiple things you can do at this park was phenomenal. They have stands filled with (I believe donated) books and magazines and newspapers for you to browse through at the many tables nearby as well as a lady manning a game cart filled with various board games. I also love how there’s a restaurant on the side of the park with outdoor seating (with alcohol as well) and the best part is that it’s in a glass building so there’s plenty of lighting and you can enjoy the view of the park.
The park also has various signs for a lot of free events and concerts. We happened to stumble upon a salsa dance lesson of the day. I really enjoyed the park and it was a refreshing take in the city of Dallas.

I love Klyde Warren Park. From the food trucks, to the free lawn games and ping pong tables, to the fountains, to the free exercises classes, to the regular festivals, to the designated dog park, to the adorable playground, to the reading areas where you can check out books and newspapers… this park is a staple of Dallas living.
Some of my favorite memories of the holidays have happened in this park, like watching the tree lighting at Christmas time, or dancing to live swing music on Valentine’s Day. And the park is right across the street from the DMA, so if you’re visiting in the summer months and need to enjoy some air conditioning (or use a clean restroom!) it’s easy to do so.
Spend an afternoon at Klyde Warren. Spend many afternoons. It will become a joyful part of your life.
