Never even heard of this place, the food and drinks were great and the service was amazing!

Visited for Sunday Brunch. Very nice interior. Small place tucked away off Cole Street. I was expecting a wait but we were seated immediately. Beautiful Chile Bloody Mary for me(spicy) and a Tamarind Mimosa for my wife(also very good but my wife wished she had had. BM after she tasted mine). I had the Heuvos Rancheros on Cilantro Masa Gorditas which were outstanding. Wife had Brisket Scramble which also delicious(although she wished she had ordered the Rancheros after she tasted mine!). Service was excellent. Manager visited to check all was well and was ultra friendly. Sat with us to talk about menu items. Definitely a place we will return to.

Stopped by here on a whim one Saturday evening after every other local restaurant was packed. Luckily Komali was nearly empty(not sure why given the reviews here). Service was great, cocktails were delish(Mango Machismo, all the way) and the food was exceptional. Two of our friends at our table ordered the Scallops and cleaned their plates.

Quick look rating: 5⁄5 Beverage & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 5⁄5 Experience, 5⁄5 Will I return Make sure you introduce yourself to one of the best bartenders in Texas, LeAnn! How can you not fall in love! She is priceless! Just tell her what kind of drink your in the mood for and stand back and hold your hat! She has a number of infused alcohol that’ll help enhance a number of cocktails that she can come up with! Did I state, fun place! Found Komali on the hunt for the best michelada in the DFW area. Wound up finding not only the best michelada, but one of the best bartenders and customer service in DFW area. It turns out that after having one of LeAnn’s michelada’s Come here for a drink, stay for the great customer service! Hug from the fanatic bartender LeeAnne the bartender! I found this place in search of the perfect Michalda! A michelada is roughly a Bloody Mary made with beer instead vodka. *** To note: The Michelada made by LeAnn was one of top(in my opinion) made in the DFW area! I tried out over 45 Michelada’s in the DFW area! Turns out she is one of the top bartenders in TX! I had chatted with two acquaintances on line and teased them that they were having a michelada on a workday lunch. We all knew they weren’t but that brought up the topic of micheladas! We then chatted about a Unilocal get-together and having a tasty michelada, a nice porch was also a nice addition. Come to get a drink from LeAnn and fall in love with her heart as well a this fun little place! I’ve come here for years and seen them won a number of awards from top Cesar salad, favorite margarita out of Texas, and their award winning customer service that can only be seen first handed! If you come, be prepared, to visit again and again! Fun place!

Saw this being featured on D magazine best brunch spot in dallas and decided to give it a try. I do brunch a lot and had already tried majority of the places on the list so decided to checkmark this one off it as well. They were very accomodating, the place is decorated beautifully. Its a great place for drinks and want someone who is looking for a private ambiance on a sunday. However, the brunch itself did not impress. I ordered the Hueveos Rancheros. Usually I like for mine to have a crunch which i get from placement of a tostado at komali they do a cilantro tortialla, which wasnt bad except it was thick and lacked texture. I cant say it made my top ten brunch list maybe ill give it another whirl for dinner.

As I stepped into the stylish interior of Kamali, I knew I’d be having another memorable evening of impeccable Mexican dishes and drinks! Their smooth Mango Machismo was perfect in wakening up my palate! For shared appetizers: their savory Tamales & at-table-folded Queso Fundido wrapped into flour/corn tortillas, exquisito! Wowed I was by my entrée: stunning presentation and taste of their braised pork! And to top the evening off: tried and loved Kamali’s Mexican Style Strawberries! Love it here! Cheers! FYI: 5 Stars with an early seating, otherwise a 4, instead of being festive, the dining area gets too noisy to really enjoy the food!

Really nice restaurant with complimentary valet. We made reservations here as we read that the margaritas were awesome. Leanne from the bar was freaking awesome. She was so welcoming and talked to us about new tequilas. SHEROCKS! I ordered the Mango margarita which the mangos are infused with Habanero and Serrano peppers. The drink itself wasn’t spicy but did have a kick. Now, the mango pieces inside my drink were spicy! I was able to try the Calinente Clementine margarita it was really good. My favorite was the Tamarind Margarita. It was really good and the tamarind did not overpower the drink. We were seated after a few mins. The chips here are thick and really good. The salsa was fantastic. I ordered the Mahi Mahi Ceviche which didn’t come with chips? The ceviche was good at first bite but I think there was too much lime in it as it was really tart after a while. The guacamole was just okay, not sure it was worth the $ 8. Dessert wise: The churros were hard and crunchy. The chocolate sauce that came with it was just okay. I would definitely come back for drinks but not for the food. The ambience is nice and service was great.

This place made it onto my wish list after being featured in D-mag’s best of brunch list. So maybe I didn’t do Komali justice by going there for dinner instead, but I wasn’t overly impressed. That being said, I was the only one out of my party of 4 that wasn’t. Despite being the priciest Mexican restaurant in the area, my friends all thought it was well worth it and commented on the food for months! The only things that really stood out to me were the high formality of the restaurant, the cocktails, and the chips.

Went there for lunch. Service was good until it was time to pay. We sat outside and ended up taking the bill in, just so we could leave. But the server was very polite. Ordered the queso fundido for appetizer, which was good, but the server served it in tortillas, instead of just leaving it on the table to dip. I’ve never had queso like that. The guacamole was flavorful and plentiful. The house salad was delicious and was plated beautifully! The lump crab salad was pretty bland, but the homemade tortilla chips with it were amazing. The fish tacos were OK and the mushroom crepes were good. The house margarita ended up tasting much better than the specialty margaritas, and much cheaper! I really enjoyed the tamarind mimosa!

Upscale Re-Invented Mexican –Good Atmosphere. Social. Can be Loud at Times. –Food was inconsistent. Some dishes were spectacular, such as the Braised Beef Short Rib, while others fell flat. –Service was standard Overall, I did enjoy the meal, however, I feel that there are other upscale Mexican restaurants nearby that I prefer to dine at.

I was super excited about trying Komali for dinner with five of my friends this past Sunday. Unfortunately, we were greatly disappointed that every other item on the menu was out, including the mole, quesadilla appetizer, and crema poblano soup. I ordered a chicken tortilla soup that came with no chicken or avocado. Yup, the restaurant was out of avocado :( The chef came out to apologize for being out of so many items, and offer to comp us at a later visit. Possible review update to come. I give it one star for a good ambiance and tasty cocktails.

Service is excellent! I had the chili rellano and my date had chicken mole & chicken tortilla soup. The queso is delicious but word to the wise don’t do anything with chicken. Both chicken entrée n soup I’d give a 2 ½ star. It was like they boiled the chicken and dropped it into the entrée. Aside from that deft worth a try!

Exceptionally loud, so much so that we weren’t able to carry on a conversation without raising our voices to a near yell. It was unnerving and we left feeling like we had been at a concert. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. We were surprised by the portion sizes as they were quite small. And, it was expensive. Three of us had drinks, apps and dinner and the total was $ 180 before tip. The bottom line is that it isn’t a $ 60 per person experience.

Had an excellent dinner here over the Thanksgiving holiday. Really sleek, contemporary setting with lots of white and neutral tones, yet managed to feel cozy and warm due to the fireplace. Good ambiance for groups large or small. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. When I asked him about gluten free items on the menu, I appreciated that he went back to check with the chef, instead of just guessing which some servers do. They are able to modify most dishes to make them gluten free — just ask! Was impressed with the menu — this is not your typical Mexican restaurant with your run of the mill options. Unique, plentiful offerings all done really well. From unique appetizers, to a ton of meat and seafood dishes with Mexico City flavor, a ton to choose from. For apps we started off with the chicken tinga sopes and guacamole. Both were excellent — just the right amount of spice, really fresh ingredients — we couldn’t get enough the sopes! I had the braised beef short rib as an entrée. The serving size was HUGE and it was so full of flavor seasoned with ancho chiles, cocoa rub, red chile and served with picadillo and hominy purée. SO good and unique. Their house margarita is great — I normally do not like tequila but this was extremely fresh and smooth that I had to stop myself from ordering multiple ones. Would LOVE to return to try out some of their other menu items next time!

Can’t give it a full five stars yet as I only tried menu items from a limited menu due to attending a luncheon, but the menu offered brunch items only. However, their fruit medley as an appetizer option was nice. One fruit I still don’t know what it was but I liked being introduced to it. It included that fruit, along with mangoes, strawberries I believe and I can’t remember the last fruit. For the brunch entrée I chose the chilaquiles which was a really good dish! Like this will be my go to plate because it was that good. The cilantro and salsa verde mixed with the tortilla chips(shaped like cinnamon toast crunch squares). The breakfast potatoes were WELL seasoned and I’m not talking about salt and pepper. My scrambled eggs were fluffy and good also. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full. They didn’t mess up any orders including mine which I ordered without cheese. This restaurant is definitely worth checking out! I definitely plan to return to try out other options from their entire menu.

I had been here one time for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised with a recent brunch outing this past weekend. I came with a party of 5, and we painlessly made a reservation on OpenTable. We were quickly seated, offered drinks, and began to examine the menu. We all enjoyed the Mexican inspired brunch. Flavorful fire roasted salsa, at least it tasted that way, with a bit of sweetness. I had the beef hash, which was a nice gravy of beef chunks with bits of potato all topped with an over easy egg. My mom enjoyed her migas. We were also given a mix of fresh corn and flour tortillas for the table. I would like to go back and try the abuelita hot chocolate with churros. We just got back from Spain, and the hot chocolate and churros there were nothing short of amazing. It will be interesting to see the Mexican take on the dish. The space is large, and they appeared able to take big groups at brunch time, which can be a struggle in Uptown.

Great food and service! We came here for the first time using a Gilt City voucher, which allowed us to have a shared app, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. We started with empanada style quesadillas which were deep fried and pretty good, but it gets better. I had the oven roasted tilapia… and will say it was the best, most moist tilapia I have ever had! It was served in a delicious lobster broth. My husband had the beer braised pork shank(Cochinita Pibil).the best pork he’s ever had! The pineapple tres leches cake was our favorite dessert, with the churros as our next favorite. The chocoflan was very rich. We also tried the Caliente Margarita which was pretty strong! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful on choosing our dinner selections. Without the voucher it would have been pretty pricey, but we were glad we had the chance to try it. Casual atmosphere and good for a casual date.

The saying«never judge a book by its cover» is so true. The outside of Komali doesn’t look to warrant anything nice or exciting, especially since it is in a plaza. But, once I entered inside of the restaurant, I saw the niceness of the venue. The front half of the place is brighter and includes the bar, while the back half of the place is dim and romantic. We chose to sit in the front to be close by a window since the place was pretty empty and we had unlimited options. Our nice waiter recommended the margaritas, so we started off with the Tamarind Margarita and the Komali Margarita. The Komali Margarita had a sweet aroma to it, so I wouldn’t suggest this one to anyone that doesn’t like sweet drinks. However, the Tamarind Margarita was just right, being dry with a bit of spice to it. We decided to share the Ceviche Mixto as an appetizer since the menu stated that it would come with Tostadas. Too bad that once the ceviche was brought out, there were no tostadas anywhere on the plate. We didn’t bring it up to the waiter because the ceviche was so fishy, we decided not to bother with eating it. For my entrée, I ordered the Seafood Enchiladas, which came with rice and black beans. The black beans had no flavor and probably should have been left off of the plate. The rice was nothing to write home about. The enchiladas were ok at best. I’ve definitely had much better. The Pan Seared Mahi Mahi was also a disappointment because the fish lacked flavor and wasn’t accompanied with anything of value. The green beans were hard and I doubt anyone wants to eat a plate full of capers. Another vegetable should have been in place instead of cheating the customer by placing what seemed to be canned capers on the dish. Other than the drinks and chips and salsa, there was nothing about Komali that would have me wanting to come back anytime soon.

Wow, what a great experience! Arrived on a Saturday evening somewhat early(around 6:30 pm) and had the patio to ourselves. Light breeze, outdoors, cool drinks, in-house chips with salsa, and a great evening was underway. I had a Tamarind Margarita and Gal Pal has Sangria. Both looked and tasted fantastic. The presentation was met by the flavors. Gal Pal was a little surprised by the vodka infusion of the pineapple chunks in her sangria, but they were a nice touch. Gal Pal had the Ceviche, which consisted of the following diced ingredients: red snapper with cilantro, tomato, red onions and avocado, served with tortilla chips. Under the Appetizers section of the menu, it is more than sufficient as a main. It looked fantastic and will be part of my order when we come back. I had the Cochinita Pibi, which is beer braised pork shank in plantain leaves, achiote reduction, green beans, peas, purslane and pickled red onions. The bright green plantain leaves and green beens were cut to the size of the bright green peas and, set against the deep red reduction encircling the lighter red shank, it was all quite visually appealing, only surpassed by the flavors. The shank was not cured or salted and, thus, did not overpower the dish or make you feel like you were eating a pygmy ham. Instead, the slow cooked pork was tender and allowed the achiote reduction take the main role in an ovation-worthy symphonic performance of flavors. Gal Pal was stabbing the reduction with tortilla chips and I couldn’t blame her. I complemented my meal with a second margarita, this time the Passion Margarita. Both were amazing for different reasons. The Tamarind was more subtle and complex, while the Passion was straight up and exploding with flavors. Our waiter was there when we needed him and vanished without being prompted the rest of the time(perfect!). We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Chicken mole was muy bueno. Queso and chorizo was even more muy bueno. Doubt I’ll ever eat Tex-Mex again.
