Kwik Kar by the Lake

Who does not recoil when having to get their oil changed or their car inspected? That being said, I love this place. I feel like the guys are honest and professional. Plus the place is dog friendly! Keep up the great work!

I have been going to Kwik Kar by the Lake for several years now. The service is second to none. The staff is efficient and professional. I would not go anywhere else.

Rip off! Was in the neighborhood and decided to get my car inspected here. Big mistake! They told me I needed new windshield wipers and gave me a two options to choose from. I asked what’s the difference and was told the more expensive ones will last a 2 – 3 yrs longer. I opted for the less expensive ones. Don’t need high priced blades, but I do expect them to fit my car. They finished my car and I left. Later the same day, I turned on the wipers and noticed it left a sizable area of the windshield untouched by the wipers. So, of course I returned to them so that they could correct it. They then tell me that my car REQUIRES the more expensive blades to work properly. At this point I was feeling shammed, so I decided to take my car to Honda to get the correct blades. I was not willing to give them another dime. However, I did expect to be able to get my money back for the ill-​fitting blades. But the owner was rude and decided him keeping my $ 33 for blades that are completely useless to me was more important than making the situation right.

Best car service in Dallas. They are attentive and professional. They few times I have been upset, they responed and took care of my needs. Bravo!

Used to be great. But the original owners sold it and it’s been shaky ever since. First problem was one of those ‘fix your windshield ’ scammers they allowed to troll their customers hassling me on a visit. Last time in my advertised 39.99 oil change turned into a $ 69 change. The price didn’t include the oil. WTF? Bait? Switch? Will choose elsewhere from now on.

Pros
Quick service and before 9a you can get $ 10 off oil change for «early bird special». Jay the tech was polite and not pushy with the expected suggested upgrades.
Cons
Will (guessing the manager) would not honor the Unilocal check in, stating their policy is only one discount. Although this policy is not noted anywhere on the coupons or signage in store. He was also rude over $ 3. After I told the tech just standard change, they repressured me to upgrade which was annoying.
Overall, fast but not great customer service.

I wasn’t just getting an oil change, I was insuring a sucessful road trip planned for the next week. The sales guys were busy but were thorough and not pushy. They topped off fluids, gave me estimates for future maintenance and even took my Unilocal coupon for $ 3 off. Still $ 44 but he found an issue with my tires and fixed for no extra charge.

I was excited to go here and try out a local business. The staff were friendly enough at first and they lived up to their name in regards to speed. However, when I attempted to use the discount on the Unilocal App which is provided for this location they denied the coupon. They said they only accept coupons that they mail out. After showing them the Unilocal App with the coupon clearly stated on there, they still refused to honor the coupon.
Their prices were also rather high, but I was paying for the convenience more than anything. I told someone in the back room that this was deceptive and he should contact Unilocal if this wasn’t the case, and he argued with me. Unfortunately, three dollars is not a lot of money these days, but a car repair place that I can trust is worth a lot.

They told me I hade several oil leaks and it was going to cost 1700. To fix. I took it down the road and had another shop look at it and it was a small gasket the shop replaced for free

I’ve had my oil changed here as well as a serpentine belt replaced. Their work is efficient and done quickly. I recommend Kwik Kar by the Lake! Come early in the morning and get $ 10 off an oil change!

I went in on a Saturday, which I knew it would be busy, to get an oil change. They took my car in immediately and done within 35 minutes. They did give me some recommendations, however that is what I expect during an oil change. Perfect time to get things looked over. I do not like to wait until something breaks. I will schedule a time in the near future for those recommendations. Waiting room was clean and they have an outdoor patio which is a plus.

I have been coming to this location for two years and have zero complaints. This location has outstanding management! The service is great, I never feel that I am being taken advantage of. They care for my truck and aren’t trying to sell me unnecessary services or products. Te staff is knowledgeable and courteous and they keep their promises. Highly recommended, can’t go wrong here ask for Tyler.

The men were very nice. The service took a while but was well priced and accurate.
One of the things I really appreciate is they didn’t try to push a bunch of stuff on me.

About 2 years ago I got my brakes done on my ML 350. Last week sensor was acting up stating that there was break wear. I called Kwik Car by The lake where I had the work done. They got me in same day and sent an hr going over my car and additional 15mins face to face time with me. Here is the best part at no cost to me. I walked away with answers and no charge. These guys stand by their work. Thank you Howard Mcginnis and kwik car team.

The last time I was here the guys recommended getting my brakes flushed, and after looking around the internet to establish that was a real thing, and since my car just hit 60,000 miles with the brakes having never been flushed at all, I decided to go ahead and let them go at it.
While I was there I also wanted them to check my brake pads. I’m pretty car-​illiterate so when my brakes started squeaking on the regular (but only first thing in the morning) I was a little freaked and convinced I needed new brake pads. Perfect situation to be in if you really want to get taken advantage of, I think.
Not here! My attendant checked the brake pads and said they were in great condition, and even showed me how to check them, too! He said, «Oh no way, I wouldn’t change those.» Which really, really comforted me for some reason. He could’ve easily said, «yeah, your brake pads DO need changing — show me the money!» And I would’ve believed him. But he reassured me instead and now I won’t take my car anywhere else. He also explained the brakes are probably just getting super dew-​y in the morning and that’s why they squeak. Trustworthy AND knowledgeable? Come on, what else do you need?
Oh, and P. S., if you go on Saturday and there’s a bit of a line and you don’t want to wait in the waiting area, the White Rock Local Market might be set up at the St. Vincent’s down the road, within walking distance! I ended up with a pair of handmade earrings and some empanadas from Empanada Armada, and when I got back to Kwik Kar they were finishing up my maintenance!

I’ve always had an awesome experience with these guys. I’ve brought all of my cars to this place ever since they opened up to get my cars serviced. They’ll take care of you! :)

I’ve been getting my cars inspected and repaired here at Kwik Kar by the Lake for about 3 years now.
The service has been nearly perfect; I am often surprised at what they can do with a BMW (avoiding my having to take it to a higher level imported sports car technician and/​or dealership.
Most folks might guess KK is just a lube n’ tune type place; oil changes etc. Turns out they can do most anything — brakes, engine, A/​C, etc. They don’t do tires but do balance wheels.
Only repair I had to go somewhere else for (other than new tires) was when my airbag light came on — took it to nearby import specialist for reset (luckily, the airbag mechanism was fine).
I can highly recommend this place.
Note: Cons I can think of are A) they sometimes leave fingerprints on various portions of my interior after they do more major work (I have a light-​colored interior, however they should still cleanup after repairs).
B) not critical, but they used to have little Nestlé «Halloween-​sized» chocolate bars & Hershey’s «Kisses» in the bowl by the check-​out. Although I generally eat organics/​healthy foods at home, an occasional mini Nestlé crunch always made the bill amount go down a little easier :-)
If they were to clean up after each repair, bring back the chocolates — maybe even a health-​food version mixed in there — and use Starbucks or nice strong organic beans in their waiting room coffee, this place would be Nirvana :-))

I left this business feeling the need for a good hot shower. There was more pressure than from guys on the prowl at any Greenville Avenue fern bar in the 1980s.
First my not quite 3 year old battery needed to be replaced.

Then I had to run the gauntlet of the windshield guy who dropped me like a hot potato when I didn’t have full coverage and moved on to the other two people that were waiting on their much nicer cars. They figured I wasn’t going to bite on the brake sysyem flush on my 10 year old car, but they talked Ms. XXXX on one for her Lexus.
All I wanted was an oil change. The guys were very polite and moved fast, but they were WAYYYY too much on the high dollar hustle for me.

I go out of my way to take my car to Kwik Kar by the Lake. They make a real effort to provide a nice experience with the clean waiting room and friendly staff. Of course they make the requisite recommendations that you need to grease the bearings on your sun roof motor every two years and replace the filter on the air intake manifold catalytic compressor thingy at 25,000 miles, but no feelings are hurt when you suggest that you will wait until next time. I highly recommend KK by the L.

I stopped in here on Saturday to get my state inspection. I called ahead to be sure the wait wasn’t long, and the gentleman on the phone was courteous and assured me there was no wait, so I went ahead and drove over.
After I arrived, the lady at the desk greeted me and asked me for my insurance, and I reached in my bag only to discover that it had expired two days ago. (Facepalm). Luckily, my policy renews automatically, so I told her I would call my insurance company and have them email or fax her one. She was very understanding and sweet, and said she’d go ahead and have the guys inspect my car while I took care of that. A few minutes later, they got the fax, and I didn’t have to wait much more than 15 minutes for the inspection to be done.
The waiting area was pleasant, with a faux fireplace, a TV, and lots of magazines to read. There was coffee available, as well as donuts, and even a small area with a little table and stuff for kids to entertain themselves with. I liked my experience here a lot, and I will be returning for my next inspection!
