So, im visiting from san antonio, so wasnt to fimilar with the area but im glad i left the first mexican restaurant(due to looking so unsanitary) to come here. Their asado de puerco is delicious and i would recommend anyone to come here.

Best tamales in dallas! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the hours they are open. Very inconvenient, closes early.

This is not a sit down breakfast spot. Manager was busy taking tamale orders. When I asked about breakfast he said of course they serve it. Sat down, ordered a tea. No tea, only soda. Ok how about a coke. Sure here is a dirty can and a glass with ice. Ok so how about the menu… Well they have 4 tacos, chorizo, bacon, beans, sausage. All come with Eggs. Ugh alright let me have a bacon and a chorizo… You would think a place where they are grinding masa by the front door would have home made tortillas, not this place. To be honest it would have been better if I just made myself tacos at home.

Not what it used to be. We just arrived home with 3 dozen tamales and some tortillas. First, when I opened the pack of tortillas, a few on the bottom appeared to be mushy. It seems that they must have been sitting in water. When I opened the package they smelled musty, like they had been stored in a box for some time. The texture was OK which leads me to believe that they weren’t old, but was hesitant to try them due to the smell, and the few that were soaked. Now the tamales. They used to be a bit larger, now there are quite small. The taste and texture were OK, but they also seemed a bit mushy, similar to the tortillas. I am not sure if due to the heavy and constant rain we have been getting in the past few days, their restaurant may have been having leaks or water issues. Not sure that I would try them again.

Went here for brunch and I have to say the only enjoyable experience was being able to see old friends. My food was horrible and the barbacoa tacos were the worst I’ve ever had! So much grease!!! Tortillas were cold and didn’t seem homemade, and the lemonade was horrible! I will not be returning back to this place!

Great food… Ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. The tortilla chips were also delicious with just the right amount of spice to it. Great food was here for the first time in a business trip.

Don’t get me wrong food is good, but when you have too many bad experiences when picking up food you order NOTGOOD. Like today I called my order in two day ago for Boss day tamales. Well the way I see it when you call something in 2 days before you expect to go in and pickup your order. Not today I had to wait 20 minutes to get my order AND to top it off another customer came in who had order a few dozens and his was ready. Not sure if it was because I only order two dozen, but when you see someone else come in and out within 5 min. and I’m still waiting after 10 min. let’s just say it’s pretty frustrating. I was not the only one with same problem. After waiting for 15 min another customer came in asking for his order and it wasn’t ready. I had to ask the girl to please hurry up because I was running late to work. It is not the first time happening to me they either don’t have my order ready or they don’t have it at all. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, but when it keeps happening WELL I’m looking for a new place for tamales. YES! I could of walk away, but at 7:45 in the morning I didn’t have any other option. YES! my review might not mean much to them, but customer service should mean something to them. Sorry but no more Luna’s for me.

I saw more roaches than customers in there. My friends food had a hair in it. Mediocre lemonade. Worst lunch experience ever. I wish I had 4 hands to give this place 4 thumbs down.

Great breakfast tacos. Cheap prices but need to order a few as tacos are a little small. Very tasty! Make their own tortillas and they are excellent!

I should have ordered 20 of these! This place is by far the best breakfast taco location I’ve been too. Perfectly soft flour tortillas. Egg, cheese, and chorizo stuffed full into the tortillas. They also have the crispiest bacon mixed with with egg and cheese again stuffed full into the flour tortilla. Tacos were $ 1.50 each and well worth every penny. I highly recommend this place.

Food was excellent. Chips, salsa, and guacamole were all obviously very fresh. They are a tortilla factory, there were delivery boxes lining the walls of the dining area and people from other restaurants kept coming in to pick up their supplies. Brisket tacos were also very flavorful. Don’t be put off by the looks of the place, this is first rate hole-in-the-wall Mexican food at a great price!

Wonderful homemade flour tortillas… and enchiladas with cheddar. I’m hunting for the best tortillas in the USA and this so far is the best. Light buttery fresh. The chili con Carne sauce in the enchiladas is rich flavorful reminiscent of ranchers sauces I have on California enchiladas.

Office friends of my by-far better half are mad about this place and insisted we must try it. BOY, are we glad we did! Yes, their actual(and justly famous) tortilla factory burned down, but they moved into a location literally next door and re-opened as a more limited tortilla-making operation and table-service and To-Go restaurant. Behind this location is the original Dunston’s Steak and burger place [Meh.]. Luna’s Tortilla Factory’s first location in 1924 was at McKinney Avenue, near the still-operating El Fenix. Harry Hines is where Luna’s Tortillas made its second home. After the disastrous fire at its Harry Hines location, Restaurante Luna’s, which opened in 2011, has kept the tortillas coming. In the restaurant world, making it for 90 years is unheard of. Luna’s supplies tortillas and chips to some 200 Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants and venues, including Blue Goose, Snuffers, Humperdinks and the Crescent Hotel, Ritz-Carlton, Hotel ZaZa and Omni hotels. The restaurant continues to reinvent itself by building a new Luna’s Tortilla Factory at 2555 Connector Drive(Northwest Highwway near I-35), which is about 3 miles away from Restaurante Luna’s. Owner Fernando Luna told us that the new facility features a glass-walled factory where you can watch the magical process of great tortilla creation. Oh, and a bar, patio, and all the amenities not usually associated with reasonably-priced Tex-Mex places. All that said, I will go on record as saying it’s surely in the Top Ten best Tex-Mex places in all of Dallas. While so many Unilocalers fondly mention the breakfast offerings, we found the small menu in the super-clean dining area to be quite ambitious and delicious. The Mexican Steak dish was truly wonderful! You can order tortillas factory-made or, get this, HAND-MADE! Fluffy, non-greasy disks of heaven either way. If you have the time, sit down and enjoy the prompt service and very, very good food. If you are in a hurry, just order a few breakfast tacos, which come with a great red sauce, and get on to your job. Fernando Luna is a gracious host and friendly guy. The service is exemplary, and, well, as I said, the food is truly outstanding. What more could anyone want?! While other Tex-Mex places also turn our hungry heads, such as Casa Navarro on Marsh at Forrest and Avilia’s on Maple Avenue, it’s Luna’s that draws more of our attention. You really MUST give this place a go. You will be SO pleased.

If you’re looking for a great breakfast at a great price then this place is for you. Food: Our group ordered the Chorizo and Eggs, the Enchilada’s with Eggs and the Breakfast Tacos. The portion sizes were perfect for an average appetite and more importantly everything tasted good to great, especially the homemade chips and salsa. What topped it off for me was fresh coffee and great service. Cleanliness: The floors were freshly mopped. Tables and chairs wiped down and the menus were food/salsa stain free, which can be a rarity for some Mexican restaurants. The bathrooms were equally as clean. Service: Friendly, fast and vigilant with refills of water and coffee. Overall: This is definitely a great stop for those looking for very affordable traditional Hispanic food, 4 Stars.

Super coffee!!! Best chips, hearty and stout, and fresh fresh salsa. Breakfast was very good, service could have been a little more attentive with coffee and water refills but all in all, Luna’s will be a favorite of mine. Their tortilla factory burned down last year so for now, they are importing their tortillas, but very soon they are moving from the Harry Hines location and will be making their own tortillas once again. Also, the potatoes that are served alongside my huevos were grilled… GRILLED!!! So many places deep fry their American fries which leaves a dirty oily taste IMO, but these were so good, perfectly grilled and I swore to myself I would mention it on my review. I actually thought this place was pretty authentic and I don’t understand the negative reviews… there were so many people the day we went for breakfast and it was obvious they weren’t first timers. Your bill won’t be brought to your table, you just go up front and pay. This is a very small place, not big on frills so you won’t be blown away by fountains, topiary and ceramics. …I liked it.

Honestly, I’ve always preferred burritos to tacos, and never thought I would become a stingy taco critic until I up and moved to Texas. Since then, I’ve enjoyed the glory that is the Texas Taco Scene spanning from Austin to Dallas, and as a result, I’ve become difficult to impress. Fortunately, Luna’s Tortilla Factory did just that when I stopped in for breakfast before work. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? To be honest I had a bit of an unusual start to my experience that caught me off guard a bit. First and foremost, I was the only one there at 8:15 on a Thursday morning, which I found a bit unusual. To build upon that experience, no one really seemed to know what to do with me. The staff were busy preparing for the day, and I was overlooked and essentially disregarded by two employees before a man appearing to be either the owner or manager came up and asked me what I wanted. It seems as though Luna’s operates first and foremost as a tortilla factory and customers physically coming in is a bit secondary. Now I would normally withhold a star under similar circumstances, but I honestly couldn’t get over how cool the atmosphere was. This is legitimately a fully operational tortilla factory, and you can watch it all happen right there. They use a stone mill, which is brilliant to watch, and I had completely forgotten about the mediocre service by the time I walked out. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Stop folks. Stop right there, because these breakfast tacos, which are nothing to scoff at as far as size is concerned, are ONEDOLLAR and FIFTYCENTS each. That’s it. We’re talking Fuel City prices( ), and that’s flat out amazing. Check the pics: Star Granted Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Yum. These were really really good. The eggs and meats were freshly cooked up, and while I’ll admit my tacos(especially the bacon) were pretty greasy and a bit too salty, I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast with special kudos to the chorizo and potato options. Well done. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I really enjoyed Luna’s, but in that Taco Stop( ) has tortillas that are a bit fluffier than those here at Luna’s and La Mexicana Y El Gringo( ) tacos with a bit more flavor, I can’t say Luna is my go-to for breakfast tacos. No Star Granted.

This is all you need to know: They nixtamalize the corn themselves, and grind it using a stone mill! That’s hardcore and it shows. The masa and tortillas are worth the drive from Austin [if there’s something this great in San Antonio, please let me know]. The masa has a perfectly soft texture and great flavor. The corn tortillas are large and fantastic, and also make awesome chips when fried. The flour tortillas are thick, but so soft and delicate that they must be handled with care. I’m ruined. I bought ten bucks worth of stuff to bring back, but should have spent a hundred and kept a frozen stash.
