We were visiting Texas and looking for authentic Mexican food and this place was a perfect fit. The service was superb and the hostess and waiter took excellent care of us. We sat outside in their courtyard which was adorable. We started with some drinks and they were great. I had the cucumber margarita and it was so light and refreshing. Each of our entrees aimed to please and we ended the night with the blueberry pastry and vanilla ice cream which was an excellent ending!

Wow amazing food. The chips and salsa had a strong corn flavor which we really liked. The chile rellanos were the best I’ve ever had. Two complaints: we ordered guacamole to start and they brought it out after our meals came so we sent it back. Also, the host was not even remotely nice. Never smiled. Just showed us to a table and walked away.

Meh. What’s all the hype about? It was just okay for me, but I did think their description of the food was accurate, «fresh» and«earthy.» Maybe this isn’t a good fit for a Tex-Mex girl. Tried the brisket taco and shrimp taco.

Must. Eat. Here. Best Mexican food all around. The cooks and the Mexican food gods have united here in the kitchen. We had mole, enchiladas, queso, ceviche, bisteca. There is not one thing on menu that isn’t good. Eat here. Just do it

Went for a retirement party. The manager acted out out by the large party. Sorry, but we had reservations and will be spending good money here… so…chill in the tude. Really great pork app. Even better frozen cocktail. The queso… skip it!!!

Just had lunch there today. My carne azteca had a great flavor profile. But it was so extremely salty that I couldn’t finish it. What a shame and a waste of food. My moms pesole was rather tasteless. Is anyone tasting this stuff before its served? It was also very loud inside and hard to have a convo with our companions.

Definitely poppin’ on a weekend. The three of us arrived before 6PM, but had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. The salsa that comes with the complimentary chips is actually really good. It’s not too spicy but has a nice smoky flavor.(And if you prefer salsa verde, you can ask for it! It’s also really good, no extra charge.) I ended up ordering the brisket tacos, and believe it or not, the best part of the dish were the refried black beans… there must be some sort of meat(we guessed bacon) cooked with the beans because it was SERIOUSLYTOOTASTY and just… tasted too similarly to meat.(If you’re a vegetarian I would request to substitute the refried for regular black beans.) Even my friends who don’t normally like black beans devoured them. As for the brisket tacos(comes with two), they were pretty good. A little dry but, on the upside, not oily or greasy. They don’t serve big portions(probably in an effort to get you to order appetizers/guac/queso), but it was enough to leave me satisfied and full. In the realm of «upscale but not too fancy» restaurants that define the Dallas area, Meso Maya fits right in! And as with pretty much any Mexican restaurant, you can expect to walk out with your clothes smelling like Mexican food… yuum.

We must have have our weekly Meso Mayo visits! Carnita appetizer is always served to perfection and the corn tortillas simply the freshest every visit. All drinks are tasty but my faves have to be LaRosa & Micheladas. Unfortunately have not experienced entire menu but it’s on our agenda!

If you want Tex mex I would recommend this place. There is plenty of parking. You might get confused on which way to enter the restaurant but the front is near the main road. I got the huevos rancheros which was delish. I also got the elotes but it’s not the typical authentic one it was a little more fancier but still was good. You get unlimited fresh tortilla chips. My family and I also shared the queso dip and it was good too. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and helpful.

We decided on this place to bring my wife for her 40th birthday after reading what were some pretty rave reviews. Huge mistake. After an incredible day of being at the spa and shopping, the drinks and service here were a major letdown. While there were some decent parts of the experience, the fact that we received such poor service on a major occasion in which the restaurant knew the occasion is the reason for the one-star review. POORTABLEMANAGEMENT First, we made reservations but it took them over 30 minutes after the reservation time to seat us. We had most of our party there but when we asked why it was taking so long they said we had to have 80% of the party there. At no point did they tell us this over the phone or even when we arrived. And we were just one guest away from that 80% threshold. They finally decided to seat us and we were taken upstairs to a private area with a ton of empty seating and maybe 3 full tables. So why we were made to wait, I don’t know. The other empty tables were never filled the entire time we were there. GOODAPPETIZERS The salsa was good and different from others I’ve had. I liked the roasted ingredients and the corn. The tortilla chips were homemade. The guacamole was fresh. The queso with brisket tasted very good. These were the only bright spots for the evening. HORRIBLEDRINKS My wife ordered the avocado margarita. For all of the reviews on how outstanding this was, it was not well received by her. A couple of us ordered top shelf margaritas. I’ve had a lot of margaritas in my day and this might have been the worst I’ve ever had. It basically tasted like tequila, water, and a little lime. There was no hint of Cointreau or simple syrup in the drink at all even though both are listed as ingredients on the menu. The sangria we ordered later made up for it in taste although there didn’t seem to be much in the way of alcohol in it. It was glorified fruit punch. SLOWSERVICE Our server was nice and friendly but we found ourselves waiting constantly to order food and drinks. One of our friends waited about 15 – 20 minutes to receive a drink she ordered when we first sat down and at one point we waited 10 minutes after finishing our first round of drinks to be able to order the next one. Once ordered it was another 10 minutes to receive those drinks. There’s a bar upstairs but no one was manning it. That’s when we just decided on the pitcher of sangria so it would be easier to serve ourselves. HITANDMISSONFOOD Half of the guests in our party enjoyed the food but the other half did not. Most of us commented on the food not being very hot. Most likely this was due to the food not reaching us in a timely manner. I had the brisket tacos which were good. However the white rice and black beans were bland. There was no taste to either. My wife had enchiladas which were way too spicy. All in all there was nothing special about the food and certainly not even close to making up for the poor marks the restaurant had to that point. I hate leaving poor reviews but this was the worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time. If you’re celebrating a special occasion with drinks, I would recommend going elsewhere. This place might be better if you’re stopping in for just a party of 2 for lunch and no drinks. Otherwise there are a ton of authentic Mexican or Tex Mex places around the city to try before this one.

The food here was quite good. Queso needed to be spicier(was a little on the bland side) but the salsa was nearly perfect. Veggie-friendly options were available, which is always a plus with me. They seemed very happy to make concessions for dietary needs. The only complaint was the service. It’s not that it was horrible; it just seemed like there were a lot of «hiccups» and the staff was all new. Mine and my friend’s order were both wrong, but they were quick to fix it. I had to ask for a glass for my soda about three times before I got one. Also, they acted like straws were a precious commodity and seemed reluctant to give us any when we asked. Strange, but also funny.

This place easily earns 4 stars. Just a few tweaks here and there and I’d give them a five. Let me start by saying it is outrageously awesome that it’s in the old Luna Tortilla factory building. They did a great job converting it and the atmospher is very appealing and comfortable Then there is the food and drink. Both were very good. We had the chicken mole enchiladas which were exceptional. The drinks are priced right but slightly weak. A Little stronger poor and it’s a winner. The service was lacking. We had to ask for mor salsa and felt the waitress unessesarily hurried. We will definitely be going back. I consider this a great new find to add to my go to list. You should try it.

Food was very good and creatively plated! Server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. The Chilli Relleno reminded me of my favorite from Mexico City. Color me impressed :) One more visit like that and I’m bumping them to 5 Stars!!! Well done, Hopkins

I have been to Meso Maya a few times since my first visit and they won me over with great service and even better food. I am in LOVE with the Herradura Salmon — complete with charred brussel sprouts and some amazing sauces. The food here is very high quality and not greasy at all. Everything my friends and I have tried is delicious. I would highly recommend them. I also recently found out that they have a ton of private event space downstairs as well. This is definitely a place to check out for your next corporate or private event.

Yesterday, our cravings for Mexican food led us here, and to my delight we were not disappointed! The wait was a bit long for a Sunday evening, but I’m new to Dallas so I’m not sure if that’s regular or not. First, when you drive in here there are 2 other Mexican restaurants attached to the same building which I thought was different. The hostess and bar staff were excellent and helpful to us while we waited — we got drinks and chips and salsa, which arrived very quickly. We then were seated, our waiter was gracious and helpful. We orders the guacamole which was good, but not as spicy as I would have liked! The waiter brought us habanero sauce, but it still wasn’t as spicy of a kick as I wanted. Oh well! The enchiladas we ordered were delicious — hubs ordered he brisket enchiladas which he devoured, and I ordered the seafood enchiladas — the lobster meat was cooked very well. Overall, the ambiance and service is fantastic! Great dinner spot to go to on a date, also the second floor is more family friendly and has a quieter area to enjoy.

The Budin Azteca with vegetables was tasty! I haven’t seen a dish like that before! It has layers of soft corn tortillas and cheese. Like a Mexican cheese lasagna. Then it is covered with a verde sauce with vegetables. It was so satisfying for a veggie dish and I ate every bit. Try the queso dip and guacamole as appetizers. Our table finished those off quickly! Meso Maya will be on my list the next time I am in Dallas!

Mexican food at its best. As other reviews mention, the cuisine is Mexican and not tex-mex. The food is spot on! We started with Guacamole and chips with Oaxaca drinks. Most of the items on the menu are naturally gluten free. I got the pollo budin azteca and H. got cochinita pibil. The chicken dish was good, sauce was great but the chicken too dry for me. The pork was delicious, it would melt in your mouth. I was regretting not getting it for myself. Highly recommend it. We finished with flan, it was quite unimpressive. Service was top notch and ambience was upscale. We were traveling from Austin and reached there around 4:30 and by 5:30 the place started filling pretty quickly.

Awesome food, awesome ambience, awesome service! Can’t say enough good things about this place, so happy that we stumbled upon it. Will definitely be back! The chef even came out to say hi upon our request on a very busy Friday night, which is unheard of most of the time. Can’t wait to try some more cocktails and delicious cuisine here.

There was a long wait at Ellen’s Southern Kitchen for brunch so we walked over to Meso Maya, which is past the expressway and behind another Mexican restaurant near the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. I am SOHAPPY we ate here! Food, décor, and especially the service were top-notch! Definitely worth walking in the heat!(turns out Über was only $ 3 but I’m still glad we came here!) Luis was our waiter and he was phenomenal! Sweet, friendly, and knowledgable about the menu. We ordered their mouthwatering Brisket Tacos(2 per plate) and their Salmon de Coco, which came with the most delicious side of coconut rice possible. We asked Luis about the rice and he surprised us with a small cup of the secret ingredient from the kitchen: coconut condensed milk, thick on our spoons but light and sweet on our taste buds. We savored that little cup of coconut milk thanks to Luis. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture from him and the kitchen staff. The sangrias were delicious and only $ 3 for brunch! What an amazing deal! I’m usually not a fan of red wine but their sangria had a refreshing and perfect blend of fruit and alcohol. We also ordered their homemade guacamole in large after trying their complimentary and unique black-roasted salsa. EVERYTHING was so fresh and mouth-watering(excuse me as I wipe some drool off my face right now). For dessert, we ordered their Pastel de Moras dessert to share. The warmly-baked blueberry cake arrived in a skillet complete with mexican-vanilla ice cream, blueberry sauce, and powdered sugar. HOLYCATTLE! How can everything be so spot on!!? Meso Maya, I’m seriously in love with you!
