Miller Grass Company

We have had sod delivered to our house a few times and I love the quality of the sod as well as the customer service during the ordering process and upon delivery. We are rather novice sod layers and they have always been very patient and knowledgeable in answering all of our questions.
If you lay the sod the day that you receive it, you will likely be laying it less than 24 hours after it was harvested. Our was in great condition and very moist. Also great to note, we’ve ordered sod from them three times and the quality has been consistent every time.
Unlike Lee, I have not had any customer service issues. I would always recommend calling ahead and calling early though! We have called before and they have been out of sod for the day.

I am resubmitting this review from fall 2013. I was informed by Unilocal that my first submission contained promotion. I have removed that. I also want to respond to the owner that his attempts to contact me are false. I never received phone calls or messages from him. Also, his claims regarding signage and website facts no doubt were fixed subsequent to my review. My feelings about our experience has not changed in ¹¹⁄₂ years.
Revised review: We are new to Dallas and are landscaping our back yard. I had GREAT hopes for Miller Grass after I Googled for sod and found them. I was impressed that they were family owned and had been in business for so many years. I checked out their website and made note of their hours and services offered. Their hours listed on the site were 7 am to 4 pm Monday thru Saturday (They have since changed their Sat. hours on the website since I called and left a voice mail message complaint). We only needed sod for a small 17 yard area and they site said that you didn’t have to order in advance.
So, on a rainy Saturday and driving in heavy construction on I-​35 E we drove 17 miles to pick up the sod. Needless to say, when we got there around 1:30 pm they were closed, much to our dismay. And their sign in the window for Sat. hours said Open 7 am; Close — CALL. WHAT??? It did not match what was on their website. In addition, the sign said you must call ahead a day for orders. So much for customer service. But, on top of that, I called the number in the window and received a voice mail and explained our situation. Now here it is 4 days later and no return phone call! No customer service, no explanation, no apology.
I suppose they must have taken heed, however, because now their website says that Saturday hours are 7am until we sell out, rather than a close time. Hmmm. I wonder what the door says?
Finally, there was a huge FULL palate of sod in front of the building on Saturday.
There are plenty of other grass companies and nurseries in the Dallas area to buy sod. So, check around.
I don’t take kindly to poor customer service, and a waste of an hour of my lifetime which I will never get back… Miller Grass Company!

I purchased a half pallet of St. Augustine sod from here and had a great experience! I called the day before and placed my order. Upon arrival, I handed my receipt to the clerk, pulled around the corner of the building, and my truck was loaded in five minutes. The sod was really healthy and I couldn’t be more pleased two weeks later as the sod looks great!

We’ve purchased sod from them a couple of different times. Easy location, they are really nice and competitively priced for sure. Can buy as much or as little as you need
