This little hole in the wall at a strip mall is a very authentic Japanese restaurant! We had really fresh Nigiri at the sushi bar. The only downside was that we went on a Monday evening, where are some of the fish is not in stock. We will definitely go back to try more things on the menu.

Mr. Sushi is an old-school Japanese restaurant with terrific food. Not cheap but n not overly expensive, either. Was cool to see actual Japanese career-sushi-chefs working behind the sushi bar and they sure knew what they were doing. There’s a huge Taiko drum at the entrance that they play to acknowledge special events that guests may be celebrating. It was a Saturday night and they were quite busy, so we had to wait a little bit longer than we thought for our food — which was confirmed as the tempura vegetables weren’t that warm. The sushi, however — was among the best I’ve had in DFW.

Waited too long for easy to prepare foods(soup, salad), was not told the«chefs special» sushi, it was kind of bland and super ordinary. I just had the lunch special and it was not that satisfying. I don’t really want to return. The staff was very nice though

Great such spoti! Devil Roll was SPICY and I eat SPICY, just an FYI if you underestimate the spicy level.

One of the worst restaurants I’ve been in my life. Food doesn’t have a flavor, I ordered like 7 sushi rolls and all tasted the same. The environment is funny and very homey,

Sushi was fine but portions seemed a bit unreasonable for the cost. As you can see in other Unilocalers pictures, the miso was child sized. The Devil Roll has a LOT of wasabi. Like, I enjoy wasabi but there’s a limit before it’s too much.

Yummmmmmmmm. Mr. Sushi, I am a tough crowd. A really, really tough crowd. I have had sashimi &/or sushi at least once a week for over 10 years. I would eat it every day if I wasn’t at least a little worried about the mercury levels. I’ve been everywhere– some of the top & highest rated sushi spots in the nation & let me tell you — this is one of the best there is. The quality of fish is exceptional & the price point is very reasonable considering this fact. Also, they have Toro & Wagyu beef sushi on the menu which I have found to be rare for sushi restaurants in Dallas. MR. SUSHI. What is it that you’re doing exactly? Where are you getting your product and why do they only supply to you? Why isn’t any other Japanese restaurant in Dallas capable of such wonderful things? You certainly have something extremely proprietary about your business and you deserve the wonderful reviews you have. Also, this is not some super, trying-to-be-trendy, lamestream spot. You’re not going to find any young, $ 30,000 millionaire girls sipping fruity martinis and eating edamame at happy hour with Top 40 blasting through the place. This is a traditional Japanese restaurant with décor to match… Let’s keep it that way. Thank you, Mr. Sushi!

Excellent food and great service. I ordered a rainbow roll on top of a California roll and it was excellent. The green mussel dynamite was on point, highly recommend. I also had some blue fun sashimi. Very fresh fare! The atmosphere could use some kick but it’s a sushi bar!

Tried Mr. Sushi for the first time today and was very pleased! I decided on the Roll sushi special before I even got there which is a California roll, salmon roll and tuna roll.(Comes with soup and salad) I was so excited because on the website it says $ 10.95, but got there and it was $ 15.95. I don’t think I would have gotten it if I knew it was $ 15, but the food was good. The California roll was fresh and filling, but the salmon and tuna were just ok. The salad was good and it tasted like the Bennihaha salad, which I love. My favorite part of the meal was the spicy scallop handroll. The scallop were big, fresh, and melted in my mouth. The spicy sauce wasn’t over bearing and it didn’t take away from the scallop itself. Next time I will definitely try some special rolls. I think that’s where they do best.

I love the Cajun Roll, it is my go-to sushi choice. Love this place — the staff is always very friendly, and the prices are good.

We had several friends tell us to try Mr. Sushi and it did not dissapoint. The staff was very friendly and the service was very good. We had several different sushi rolls and the chicken fried rice and we were very pleased. The jalapeño roll and california rolls were very good. Another stand-out was the wine we ordered. Typically we go with sake, but choose wine and the cabernet was good. Overall it was a 4.4 or 4.5 and we will be back soon.

My favorite sushi restaurant in the Metroplex! Very traditional with excellent fresh fish that speaks for itself. Don’t bother coming here for any of those cutesy rolls or towers with funky names. Just solid high quality seafood presented with perfection. Scott, the manager, and his staff never disappoint.

Good fresh sushi — this is an authentic Japanese restaurant. If you’re looking for a large variety of rolls, this isn’t the place for you. I’ve eaten sushi for a long time & I appreciate the little extras; like when they bring you a hot towel to wipe your hands when you sit down at the sushi bar. The ponzu isn’t just ponzu but with the added green onion and sesame seeds. You MUST try the Japanese snapper topped with lemon. They have a good variety of sushi — very fresh and very good. The sushi is fresh, the chefs are Japanese, and the service is great. It’s simple, authentic and delicious.

I ordered take out from here and was not disappointed, beyond the size of the soup. The fish was great quality and portions were just right for the price. Lets circle back to the soup. It was smaller than my hotel room card, very weird considering its around $ 5. It was great though! Definitely ordering from here again. Just not the soup…

We enjoyed a good sushi dinner at Mr. Sushi. We went early, around 5:45, on a Tuesday to grab an early dinner. As you’d expect, the restaurant was mostly empty and we were seated immediately. It’s not a particularly fancy restaurant with a pretty typical Japanese restaurant décor. My wife and I both started with a Kaiso salad(seaweed salad). The salad was a nice portion, not too big, and tasted very good. All of their sushi combos had shrimp. We’re not fans of shrimp as a sushi dish so we decided to order a la carte. We ordered nigiri portions(2 pieces each) of salmon, tuna and eel(unagi). All of the sushi was very fresh and very good. We also ordered two rolls — a Hole in One and a Volcano Roll with Grilled Salmon. The Hole in One was excellent. I don’t recall all the ingredients. I think it had salmon or tuna with avocado and some kind of crispy ingredient. The Volcano Roll didn’t work for me. We didn’t really like the cooked salmon as much. It was also topped with some small cooked scallops that didn’t have much flavor and the volcano sauce didn’t have a lot of flavor or spiciness. I wouldn’t order it again. We ordered some green tea ice cream for dessert. It was disappointing. Normally, green tea ice cream has kind of a perfumy, almost minty, flavor. This didn’t have that flavor and was just pretty bland tasting. The service was very good. We were offered extra wasabi and ginger, which we took. Our water glasses were always full. We ended up spending about $ 80 with tip and a glass of wine, about what I’d expect. I wouldn’t say it’s a really nice restaurant and a couple of items didn’t work for us(Volcano Roll and the green tea ice cream) but Mr. Sushi fit the bill for good sushi when we were in the area.

I took a friend here for dinner on a Friday to try and cheer her up from a rough week. I think it worked. Neither of us had been here before, but I think this place will remain keepers on both our lists. The quality of thei fish here is pretty good with nice and clean flavors and its reasonably priced for what you get. The agedashi tofu here was exceptionally tasty-crispy outside, melt in your mouth inside, with a well balanced soy, ponzu sauce. I wish their Addison Tower(their version of a spicy tuna tower) had tempura to add texture and took out the asparagus; I really felt that was a bit out of place.

Good sushi, attentive service, solid atmosphere. From the outside it’s nothing special but inside is nice, lots of tables and all the wait staff wear traditional japanese clothing which adds to the experience. They also serve large orders in the wood boats which is always fun. The drinks were reasonably priced and the sushi selection had all the staples I enjoy as well as some new items to try. I also appreciated the fact that they offer unis with quail eggs. Some places don’t carry quail eggs which ruins the whole piece for me — nice work Mr. Sushi. review of all the pieces: Uni w/quail egg — very good Japanese scallops — very good spider roll — ok, a bit smaller than i’m used to Mr. Sushi roll — good Rainbow roll — good yellow tail — very good tempura vegetables — ok Sea eel and regular eel — very good Sea snail — ok yellowtail with avocado — very good

This is my favorite sushi place in Dallas. The service is always friendly and the sushi is always«spot on». Sit in Ben’s section and ask for something special… The front end of the sushi bar. His creations always make me come back for more. The prices are reasonable and the is a lot of value for what you get… I’ll be back again soon.
