What’s up curious crew? I just left the Dallas Europa(bodybuildingat the convention center. Had plenty of protein drinks and energy drinks– now ready for some down home country vittles. Norma’s is known for pies and catfish– so I had both. With cornbread mac cheese and black eye peas and half/half tea. Coconut cream pie to top off the feast. 1 – 10 scale… Cornbread-1 hideous. Macandcheese 4. Seasoning was good –like lawrys –but tasted like it came out of a Kraft box Catfish 7. Lightly coated — good taste but not as good as I remember it being(3 yrs ago) Peas-7 light on salt, so a bit bland, but ok. Pie– 10. Exquisite Tea 9 — very tasty. Very nice waitress. Total damage. — $ 17.57 added a 5 dollar tip Deuces

What a cute lil diner! Fast and friendly service plus good food always wins me over. The hubs battled the Ol Number 7 which was chock full of hashbrowns, gravy, jalapenos, biscuits, bacon, and I think the kitchen sink. The Ol Number 7 won but everything reheated nice the next day. I had scrambled eggs, ham, and grits. Delish! Being curious about this so called giant cinnamon roll, I ordered it for the nugget. Yeah, it was giant… about as big as his head.

Well it was a mid Sunday afternoon, busy but not lined out the door. So, this is a Dive, but the Food is Off the Chain. We split a pot roast, my wife and I both agreed that this was our momma’s pot roast,

This down home eatery in South Dallas is very popular. The small parking lot was full and the place was packed when we arrived. But we were seated quickly and the service was fast. I had the chicken fried steak which was mouth-wateringly good. The entrée came with four biscuits that looked like a loaf of bread. I normally don’t like biscuits, but these were pretty darn good. The gravy was thick and tasty too. This is a great place to eat. But if you’re into healthy eating this is not the place for you.

Me and my best friend visited this place the day I was leaving Texas and it was just ridiculously good. I almost finished everything I had but I was full. I had French toast with bacon and a side biscuit. Sooooo good ! The French toast was so homey and good and the biscuits were just ridiculous. You can tell a lot of love went into this food. I enjoyed it so much.

Here’s the story I have to relate about Norma’s. I eat breakfast at Norma’s Saturday morning. That night, I’m at a party in Oak Cliff.(Ohhhhhh…) I tell this woman, that I have never met, about eating at Norma’s. Literally, text book definition, we say in unison, «Biscuits and Gravy»!!! I’m not joking. It was some of the best I have ever had. A bowl of sausage gravy? Seriously? Any Saturday morning I am in oak Cliff(Ohhhhhh…) you can guarantee that I will be eating at Norma’s. Tell Wee wee I say«hi».

I liked this place a lot. Very cutely decorated and has a nice old school diner vibe to it. I had the chicken fried chicken with eggs hash browns and a biscuit and some coffee. Super filling. Good portions and hand battered chicken. It was very enjoyable and the service was great.

This place is delicious! Went here for breakfast on Sunday with my husband and everything we got was so good. We had fried pickles and I had pancakes(I’m pregnant). My husband got Norma’s favorite. Everything Was so good! We even got more food to go! Burgers and they were incredible! I highly recommend this place.

I work in South Dallas and anytime my work colleagues and I have something to celebrate, we usually end up at Norma’s for several reasons: 1. The service is always quick, so it’s an easy place to meet for breakfast without giving up a huge portion of the work day(although this wouldn’t be the worst thing). 2. This is one of the few restaurants in this area that has its own parking. I’ve never had a problem finding a spot. 3. It’s cheap, especially for the amount of food. 4. They’re very accommodating to big groups, despite having limited space. We had our White Elephant Gift Exchange at Norma’s last Christmas and we didn’t feel rushed or as though we were monopolizing the restaurant despite our large party, which around 8 people. 5. Staff is friendly and efficient. Order the biscuits. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Their omelettes are delicious and large enough to feed an army. They serve their full menu all day so you can order a chili cheese burger in the morning(gross) or pancakes at night. Norma’s is definitely at the top of my list for best diner’s in the Metroplex.

I am a huge fan of chicken fried steak. I am born and raised in Las Vegas and the quality of southern food was good… Until I actual had Norma’s. Now I know everything will fall short to the amazing food I had here. Chicken fried steak I had here was the best I’ve ever had. Service– 5 stars. The waitress was super awesome. I cannot say enough good things about her. I wish I was a local just to come back and see her. Food– 500 stars! Fantastic I love it. Portions– SOOMUCHFOOD!

There’s a reason why Normas café has been in the neighborhood for centuries!!! this place rocks and is one of the best diner’s in Dallas! Everybody knows about Norma’s famous Country breakfast. Comes with hash, eggs, biscuits or toasts, and your choice of chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken! I went with chicken fried chicken and it was soooOooooo good!!! the eggs will be cooked whichever way you like.

Norma’s Café will be near and dear to my heart from now on. That was probably the most delicious breakfast I’ve had in a long time! My girlfriend and I went last Monday morning with no wait. Trevor was our waiter and he was exceptionally attentive and super sweet. I got a Belgian waffle, eggs over medium, bacon, and 2 biscuits. WOW! Biscuit was the best I’ve ever had. Trevor brought over a cinnamon spread for the waffle and toast that was phenomenal and even offered to grab us some to go! My gf had the hot chocolate… I ended up drinking more than half of it for her! Amazingly rich and creamy. She had the chicken fried steak with eggs and toast. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Only complaint is she wish there was more gravy! She loves the big chunks of sausage in the gravy and the seasoning on the steak which she referred to as «crack» lol. We’ll definitely be back and with more ppl!

A neighborhood staple of comforting classics done right. This diner has preserved recipes and nostalgia in its 50s time-warp dining room. Fantastic friendly service you would expect from a diner. Amazing breakfast served all day, especially love those huge, homemade biscuits! Botomless black coffee in heavy mugs. The food is so good, filling and comforting with great prices! I highly recommend Norma’s in Oak Cliff!

I have a long history with Norma’s. My dad use to take me here when I was a little girl. Even though Norma’s expanded a little over the years, it’s still the same for the most part. First, the wait staff is very welcoming & friendly. Saturday afternoon, my husband & I wanted some good ol home style cookin’ & what better place than Norma’s to feed the need.
We picked a table & began to scan the menu & «Special’s of the Day» board. Our friendly waiter immediately brought out our tea and a pipping hot basket of huge«school made rolls» & corn bread with pkg.‘s of butter… yessss!
We both decided on Chicken & Dumplin’s & we shared Butter Beans(dang, those were so good), collard greens, carrots, & I ordered a side salad. There was little conversation after all of that was delivered to our table. Pure happiness! I asked for a to-go box ½ way through the meal, because I knew I wasn’t leavin’ Norma’s without a piece of Chocolate Pie. Hubby ordered a piece of Coconut Pie. Let’s just say, we left Norma’s feelin’ happy & fluffy. Norma’s serves up some great home cookin’ & serves a great breakfast. Norma’s brings back some special memories of time spent with my sweet dad. =D

Let me start out by saying: this place is ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! I got the breakfast number seven and was a little disappointed when it arrived all mashed together in a bowl instead of on a plate. That disappointment was soon overshadowed by my taste buds rejoicing at the delicious fusion of flavors created by layering biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, tomato, cheese, and bacon in a warm bowl. When I say this is one of the most delicious breakfasts I have ever had, I am in no way exaggerating. I completely overstuffed myself and still didn’t want to stop eating! I just couldn’t get enough. If you are in the area of one of these delightful restaurants don’t hesitate to stop in, especially if you want breakfast. And get the #7!

I had breakfast with my friend here during my trip in Dallas. I feel very much welcomed! The chorizo taco is fantastic! Biscuit is awesome too! Such a big chunk of biscuit. I didn’t order pie for some reason, but I really wanted too… I like it so much!

Super friendly service. Very nice, admiring, and accommodating of our young children. All the diner basics you’d expect. — Chicken fried chicken: plump & juicy. — Sides: Mac& Cheese, green beans, corn all delivered. Mac & cheese was that great diner style. Creamy and so much better than the boxed variety. — Great dinner rolls. A couple family members had the audacity to order dinner salads — but they seemed satisfied. Bite of wife’s burger was tasty. Somehow we resisted pie. Tip: pie is half price after 7:00 pm, at least on Sundays.

KEEPTHEHOMEMADEROLLSCOMIN’! Recently, I’ve been watching a lot of «Triple D,» aka Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Naturally, I thought, why not spend this wonderful Sunday afternoon eating breakfast at a diner. My relatives had never been to a diner, let alone had chicken fried steak, so why not Norma’s? From the moment we walked in to the moment we left the diner with full, satiated stomachs, Norma’s had made our Sunday wonderful. Their service was above and beyond, and their staff were friendly and accommodating. However, you’re here about the taste of the food. Note: Pie slices and whole pies are discounted half off after 6PM! Get a whole pie for $ 6.50 or pie slice for $ 1.50. And now, the rolls… I mean the food. The Food: KEEPTHETRADITIONGOING! I had their Homemade Rolls and Cornbread, some Chicken Fried Steak, some Chicken Fried Chicken, some Chopped Sirloin Steak, Homemade Cheesecake, and Meringue Coconut Cream Pie… and a food coma. The Chicken Fried Steak & Chicken and Chopped Sirloin Steak came with 3 veggies/side dishes each. Homemade Rolls and Cornbread: ENDLESS. They keep making them fresh and keep them heated in a special little oven. The rolls are yeast rolls, so they were soft and fluffy with a strong baked-bread smell. You can peel off the rolls to little strips. They remain warm throughout your meal. I drool thinking about this experience when the winter and snow come. The cornbread was a warm muffin with plenty of cornmeal flavor. Keep asking the waitresses and they will spoil you with endless rolls on rolls on rolls. Chicken Fried Steak: AWARDWINNINGINTHEBIG D. Crunchy breading combined with a soft, chewy, warm, beefy steak interior. If there was anything that needed to be chicken fried, it had to be steak. The breading was well-seasoned and flavored with their salts and spices. Way better than your the colonel’s secret spice blend at KFC. The combination of fried, crunchy, chewy, and meaty flavors came together well and make this a great chicken fried steak. Chicken Fried Chicken: CHICKENFRIEDCHICKEN. Crunchy breading coating a chicken breast, similar to gourmet, hometown fried chicken. This is a fried chicken lover’s wine-and-dine dish. The flavors and seasoning are bold, but not too salty. My chicken breast was a little dry, despite the moist breading, which made the texture a little tough. Chopped Sirloin Steak: YOUCANTASTETHESIRLOIN. My grandmother-in-law ordered this and I rolled my eyes expecting an upscale meatloaf out of this dish. To my surprise, I tasted the fresh beef flavor and a magnified beefy taste. I was very surprised! Overall, it was like the Chicken Fried Steak, minus the chicken fried! It was covered in a brown gravy with onions and mushrooms. A lot of flavor like the best salisbury steak you had. This is the diner food that the baby-boomers bragged about to their millennial children. Soft, chewy, moist, fresh beefy, and savory. Homemade Cheesecake: TALLANDTHICK. Homemade New York Style plain cheesecake. The cheese filling is stacked tall, thick, and dense. This is the dessert made for cheat days, sweet tooth cravings, a well-earned day, etc. The graham cracker crust is baked to a nice roasty flavor, but you also taste the butter and cinnamon. The crust is crunchy and crumbly, the perfect texture to complement the soft and dense cheese filling. Overall, the cheesecake filling is perfectly sweet with the slight tanginess provided by the sour cream and tinge of lemon. You might not finish this large, dense slice in one setting. But I don’t recommend finishing it immediately, since you’ll be depriving yourself of the perfect evening snack. Meringue Coconut Cream Pie: AMERICANATROPICANA. Each slice of the meringue coconut cream pie was a tall order of half coconut cream pie and half lightly tanned meringue with toasted coconut on top. The coconut cream filling is sweet and coconut-ty, but not overly sweet or coconut-ty. The toasted coconut enhances the nutty pie crust and provides strong coconut flavor. The meringue is light and fluffy, making this pie less filling and perfect for dessert. Side Dishes: Steamed broccoli was steamed broccoli. Yams were sweet, soft, and syrupy; but they had a strong aftertaste of cough syrup(–1 star); most likely canned. Mashed potatoes and gravy were flavored and seasoned very well. Turnip greens were steamed, juicy, and fibery. Mac and cheese was typical comfort food, the kind with the simple Easy-Mac-esque cheesiness. The Verdict: FINEOL’ DINER Norma’s fills you up with good, filling food and good vibes. Right when I was about to leave, waitress offered to get us to-go cups for iced water and tea. From endless homemade rolls and cornbread to filling platters of chicken fried this and chicken fried that, there is something for everyone. If there isn’t always count on their homemade cheesecakes, meringue pies, fruit pies, and cobblers. Make your life easy, get the chicken fried steak + 3 side dishes.

I don’t normally like to go to diner places similar to national chains like Denny’s. My wife forced me to come with her to have breakfast and I was glad she did. I was blown away of how good of a place this is. Breakfast that we had was awesome and the wait staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. I had chicken fried chicken and the plate came without gravy on the side. So I asked the waitress to bring me some out and she said which kind of gravy I would like. Scratching my head and kindly told her that I didn’t know that there were different selections to chose from. She was so nice that she went back to the kitchen and fought with other wait staff due to it being super busy the time we were there and got me three sample of gravies right a way! Wow that’s an excellent service in my book:-) This is not your typical fancy-schmancy café but with genuine blue-collar family type atmosphere. If you are looking for good home cooked meals and excellent service, this is the place in Oak Cliff.
