Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom ribs nom nom nom nom brisket. Nom nom nom. The ribs where great. The brisket was not as good as Lockhearts Smokehouse in Bishop Arts. Not sure why there is a line. It’s good but not stand in a line in the middle of Texas summer good.

Believe it or not this is my first visit to Pecan Lodge. I had heard it had the best brisket and now I can see why but the wait is completely absurd. Considering the insane wait I would instead go over to Slow Bone where they have brisket equally good but no hour long wait. lol. Mac & Cheese was also really incredible. *Pro Tip: Ask for brisket fattier the better ;)

The line stretches out the door every day of the week and you WILL wonder if it really IS worth it. After one visit for me, the answer is YES! I had the brisket, which was served with the crust and fat still on top. When you cook a brisket properly, the top fat«melts» into the meat below, creating a moist deliciousness that makes brisket the typical Texas BBQ meal. I enjoyed eating the«crust»(my LDH count went up immensely after this meal) also with the expertly smoked meat. PL also makes their own sausage — a spicy dry mixture of meat in the casing. The two meat platter I got included one side — I elected for pinto beans. I was happy to see the platter come out with the requisite pickles and onions. The meat was so good I didn’t need sauce. Soft drinks and iced tea is self-serve. They also have a full-bar and plenty of outdoor seating. This is a great place to take out-of-towners when you are downtown.

Traveled to Dallas for the first time this past weekend and of course I had to have Texas BBQ. Hands down to the best BBQ I ever had, including the Mac and Cheese. This place opens at 11am, I came at 10:40am on a Sunday and there was a long line waiting already. But the line moved pretty quick once the doors opened. It was really worth the wait. Definitely come back next time I’m in Dallas.

Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. Yep, it’s a queue and yep, it’s a bit noisy inside. But that means that it’s popular and it’s popular because it’s good. It really is that good. I had a simple brisket platter with mac & cheese on the side. The brisket was moist and delicious and needed absolutely zero sauce. It was perfect just the way it is. «If you cook the meat perfectly and it’s seasoned well, you don’t need sauce.» I saw that quote in one of the newspaper reviews that is posted on the wall. If you’re looking for proper Texas barbecue beef, you won’t find better than Pecan Lodge here in Deep Ellum.

If you’re anything like me you’ve been hearing nonstop hype about how amazing this place is ever since they left the farmers market and setup shop in Deep Ellum. I’ve been wanting to try Pecan Lodge out for quite some time and finally had the chance. Sadly, while good, it couldn’t live up to the hype. Walking up, the smell of smoked meat fills the air– a great indicator of good bbq. The line for Friday lunch started just outside so we were inside quickly. It did still take about 45mins to order which, while long, was thankfully nowhere near the 2 – 3 hour wait I’ve heard stories about. The guy taking the orders was very friendly. However I was disappointed they do all the carving in back so you don’t get to see your meat until they call your name to come grab your tray. They also had a fairly limited meat selection even with a couple specials. Still, it all comes down to brisket which they certainly do serve. Brisket was moist and had good flavor although I thought it was a tad salty. I also got ribs which were also very good although weren’t as legendary as I had heard. This may have been because they cooled off quickly perhaps(but hopefully not) from the whole rack getting cut earlier. For fun, I also ordered a Texas tumbleweed which is a peanut butter, chocolate, pretzel cookie with coconut. It was different but delicious. I hate to sound negative as I really did enjoy the place. Compared to the smattering of bbq spots in Dallas, I believe they rightfully own the title of best bbq in Dallas. And next time I’m in Dallas craving bbq, I’ll certainly go back. However, I think there are a handful of better now joints in DFW.

I am a big fan of barbeque and love nothing more than to try the local fare in my worldly travels. I have been to some decent ones(Buzz & Neds), I have been to some great ones(Q Barbeque), and I have been to some exceptional ones(The Flyin’ Pig)…Pecan Lodge blows them ALL completely out of the water. Like, not even close. The Pecan Lodge is amazeballs. Now, a few things to note. 1) The Pecan Lodge has interesting hours. We initially tried to go for dinner on a Thursday, only to find out that they close @ 3p on Thursdays. Be sure to check their hours before you make the trip to out to Deep Ellum. 2) The line at this place is crazy, and can be downright insane during peak times at lunch and dinner. My best advice is to expect it and plan for it… but rest assured, it is SOOOOO worth the wait! Remember, people are not going to stand in that kind of line for mediocre barbeque. 3) They do not have your typical Coke/Pepsi soda selection; while they do have Diet Coke, everything else is custom(Blueberry Soda? Yep.), so be prepared. TIP: While you are standing in line, keep an eye on the bar; if you time it right, you can grab a seat there, order from your seat, and skip the line. That’s what we did and it saved us almost an hour! I wanted to try a sample of their different meats, but didn’t want to gorge myself given that I had to fly out that afternoon so I opted for«The Pitmaster» sandwich(Brisket+Pulled pork+Sausage, topped with slaw, bbq sauce & fresh sliced jalapeños). Now, that’s all well and good, and if you’ve read the other reviews, you have an idea of how incredible the brisket is. The meat is both tender an flavorful and, IMHO, doesn’t need sauce at all. For me, the incrementally outstanding thing about The Pitmaster was the bread. The roll was like a combination of challah and hawaiian bread, not only capable of absorbing the juices from all of the meats, and maintained a sweetness that completely complimented the smoky flavor wonderfully. Hands down, the best barbeque sandwich that I have ever had ANYWHERE!!! The garnish of fresh onions and dill pickles was a nice touch and was a good palate cleanser at the same time. I got a side of Mac & Cheese, but this wasn’t just Kraft Mac & Cheese… it was creamy and cheesy, and had roasted onions and jalapeños mixed in, and topped with chopped bacon. It was a side that had the quality to be served as an entrée. Soooo good! I can’t wait to go back to try the ribs(both pork and beef), and am very intrigued by «The Hot Mess»(jumbo sea salt-crusted sweet potato, barbacoa, chipotle cream, cheese, butter & green onions). The Pecan Lodge is amazing… just plan for the experience(and the wait) and you’ll be fine. This place totally lives up to the hype!!!

If I could describe pecan lodge in one word it would have to be… BRISKET!!! you absolutely must get their briskets if you plan to dine here or else why would you even come in the first place? well actually they have other delicious stuff too but it wont be the highlight of the show. My friends and I came here for dinner on a friday night was got our food in approximately 20 minutes from the time we got in line until the time we all took our first bite. It was awesome because that was one of the things I was afraid of when I read the reviews, long wait time! And at first we thought the dinning area wouldnt have enough tables to accommodate for all its guests, but they got ordering and cleaning tables down to the T! No one had to wait to eat their food and the pace of the whole place was very fast. Not a lot of busy restaurants can do it like PL!!! Like I had mentioned earlier, the brisket was my favorite meat. I ordered the picked 3 meat(brisket, pork rib, and sausage) and a side(pinto beans) for $ 17. Honestly looking back at it, I could have easily opted out on the sides because I didnt even touch it. The ribs were my least favorite of the three because it was kind of too dry for my liking, but the brisketttt oh man oh man was super awesome it stole my heart :-’)) haha. I mix the carolina bbq sauce with the regular bbq sauce and it gives me the perfect texture and tasting. Another thing I would like to change next time Im here is to just order the brisket in lbs and get rolls as my sides, now that would be the perfect bbq experience!

Congratulations Pecan Lodge for serving the most delicious brisket i have ever had the pleasure of enjoying! This place has a really long line but it is so worth the wait. If you want to try a brisket that will literally melt all of its flavor into your mouth as soon as it touches your tongue than this is the place for you. All the other Barbecue items are very good as well but nothing compares to that brisket. Authentic Barbecue and Brisket you will dream about for the rest of your life. Try it.

So I gave this place another try and I must say, I liked it better my second go around. I shared 5 pounds of meat and two sides. We got brisket, sausage, pork, Cole slaw, Mac and cheese, and a sweet potatoe to share. Their brisket and sausage are so totally killer(in a good way :)). I still wasn’t a fan of their sides, but I did love their sweet potatoe loaded on with meat– this is a must try if you don’t just want meat, meat, and more meat. Over all, I enjoyed this place a lot more– I recommend just the brisket, sausage, and sweet potatoe. All the other sides were just ok.

This is probably hands down my favorite BBQ joint in Dallas. Is the line long? Yep. It would probably take you a couple hours and you would have to line up before the door opens at 11am, but it is not much compared to Franklins in Austin. Yeah it’s trouble and the line is long… Unless you get over 5 pounds of this stuff! My buddies and I came over here and ordered I think probably 8 pounds and it wasn’t cheap, but it was worth it. This location will have you some good BBQ. Probably one of the best in Texas. I would definitely recommend their brisket– it is tender and easy to bite into. Their ribs are HUGE! But really good. The sausage was, in my opinion okay because you can’t really go too wrong with sausage. The best thing I got however, was the macaroni and cheese. They had bacon on top of it and this macaroni and cheese is to die for! Definitely recommend to visit if you’ve never had Texas BBQ besides Rudys and Spring Creek… you’ll never look at it the same!

What else can you say about Pecan Lodge that hasn’t already been said. The food speaks for itself! Absolutely glorious brisket! For something different, try the Pitmaster sandwich, it’s AMAZING! The BBQ here is second to none. The line might seem daunting but it moves quickly so don’t be deterred. It’s worth the wait.

Good decent BBQ place in the Arts District in Downtown Dallas. They have lots of sides to choose from. I had the Mac n Cheese and it was good. The Pork Ribs were good and tasty. The Brisket was just o.k., the meat was not tender and moist. There is plenty of seating either indoor or outdoor. Your clothes will smell like BBQ after eating here. The place is good, but not amazing for Texas BBQ standards. I did enjoy the Blueberry Soda.

One of the best BBQ I have ever had. I was here around 11:30am on a February weekend, and the wait, though long, wasn’t that bad. We had to wait only around 1 hour or so before we could order, but the wait was well worth it. My friend and I tried the beef brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, sausage, cole slaw and mac n cheese. My friend comments afterwards summarized it all: «I am not a meat person but this is the first time I felt like the meat dish was good» Seriously, the fat, the meat, and everything were so well balanced, and the sausage was also flavorful without being salty at all. The pork ribs were ok, but the brisket was out of this world. I usually get tired of meat if eating too much of it, but the BBQ dishes here was an exception. I could keep on eating this all day. The price wasn’t too expensive either.

Pecan Lodge is my favorite barbeque restaurant in Dallas. If you eat here, be prepared to wait in a long line which moves a bit faster than one would expect, to my perception. In the several times I’ve been there, average wait time has been 30 minutes. The main meat choices here are brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and sausage(mild pork or jalapeño beef.) The sausage is loosely packed, and crumbles out of the casing, but is otherwise delicious. The brisket, pulled pork, and ribs are among my all time favorites, consistently prepared moist, smoky, and delicious. If you go with two people with average appetites, I recommend sharing a three meat platter. HIghly recommended.

If you live in the DFW and are a fan of BBQ and you haven’t tried Pecan Lodge yet… what are y’all waiting for? Y’all are definitely missing out. Even if you are not from the DFW… Pecan Lodge is a must try! Best BBQ ever? Probably. Came here around 1:15pm on a Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised there wasn’t much of a line. This place is notorious for the line going out the door since the BBQ is so dang good. Unfortunately by 1:15pm they ran outta ribs… pork ribs AND beef ribs… so I didn’t get to try any of those. Got the beef brisket and jalapeño cheddar beef sausage. The brisket was moist and succulent with great, great flavor. I wasn’t a fan of the beef sausage which is no fault of Pecan Lodge’s. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I wanted to try something knew since I always have pork sausage. Ordered the side of fried okra and it was the best fried okra I have ever had. I tried my friend’s Mac n cheese and thought it was mediocre. I will have to make the trek out to Deep Ellum again one day to try their ribs and feast on their brisket again.

The most interesting BBQ man in the world would probably say something to the effect of, «I usually don’t wait in line for my food, but when I do, it’s for Pecan Lodge.» It was a brisk afternoon in Dallas, in the mid 40s, which was completely masked by the delicious smells being released from the Pecan Lodge. The line moved pretty quickly, the people leaving the restaurant looked satiated and happy, a foreshadowing of things to come. At that moment, I was hoping that our styrofoam cups of 7 – 11 coffee were beef, er, beer(they have a bar to wash down that delicious meat so keep that in mind). Enough with the foreplay, I’ll get deep into the details: the meat is good, very good. It’s not that new age California shit. It’s traditional, good olé American BBQ. There is no kale quinoa salad. There is no Cedar River Farms organic frou frou beef. In fact, if you need to ask, you probably have no business here. The brisket is oh so juicy, so flavorful, so tender. It hardly needs an BBQ sauce on it, maybe just a touch if you want. The beef rib? One piece was $ 25 and worth every penny. Very succulent and melts in your mouth. Not sure why they give you forks and knives; the beef is so tender you can use a spoon. Not sure if you want to eat this caveman style(with your hands holding the ribs) since the rib is really big. The pork baby backs are also delicious. Nice smoke flavor to it but unfortunately their glory is overshadowed by just how good the brisket and beef ribs were. I was unimpressed with the sides. Then again, that’s akin to saying you went to an oyster bar and then complain how their hot dogs were terrible. It’s okay, you’ll live. So will I. All you need here are the meats, pickles, and a cold one.

As one of the most popular restaurants in this city, expect a wait in line. I like how they are very organized about it with an announcer proclaiming the rules such as most important one of not grabbing a seat until you have ordered and have your receipt. Don’t be a jerk and save seats leaving people who just ordered with no place to eat comfortably. Anyway, did the BBQ live up to the hype? Yes. It’s hard to not want to try everything. I was by myself and ordered 3 things: 1) Brisket sandwich — juicy and tasty but I think I’ve had better 2) Fried Rib — it is what it is and tasted like the title, a fried rib – wasn’t the greatest and I now know I don’t like fried ribs(do not recommend getting this) 3) Hot Mess — an amazing combination of ingredients! How does no one else(to my knowledge) put some barbacoa(beef) directly into a sweet potato with delicious sauce on top? So tasty! This was all for me, with the intention that I would eat some now, and the rest later. My receipt said there were 3 people in my party, but it was really just me getting fat! So, through this experience, especially if you’re by yourself, I would recommend just getting the Hot Mess and call it a day because it’s already a lot of food. If you’re can’t live life without trying their brisket, just get it and save it for later if you can’t finish it – it’ll probably be some of the best you’ve ever had. But for sure, get that unique Hot Mess. Is it my favorite BBQ place? Nope, I still prefer The Salt Lick in Austin, TX because everything about that experience was perfect(like how you can see their huge smoke pit and a sheriff, with his holstered revolver, directing traffic outside).

Gonna have to give PL a 5 star rating for now, mainly because I just have Hutchins BBQ in Frisco 4 stars and I think PL is just a step above on this weekend trip. Located on Main Street in deep ellum, parking is somewhat difficult. We parked two streets over, a little sketch, and so were some of the people. Anyways the line wasn’t bad and it moved quickly. We tried a few things, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sausage, and had a sweet potato w cheese and pulled pork? If I had to rank them, I would say brisket, sweet potato w the pork, ribs, pulled pork, then sausage. The crust on the ribs and brisket were nice. The sausage to me was grainy? If that makes any sense. Other thing I’m not sure about was that I got a pound of ribs for $ 17 or so and I guess that only equates to 3 ribs? Granted they were large but damnnnn! I need to bring my scale and audit that. Cpa here, trust but verify. Also got a pint of Mac and cheese, which had green chili’s in it I think, smoky but really good! I will be back.

Amazing brisket but what went wrong with the sauce. For the long lines and amazing reviews I expected much better for sure. The smell was great and the look was right but the sauce fell short of amazing bbq. The Mac and cheese was a little too flavorless for me and the middle a little to soft. I do have to say the banana pudding was amazing but that was it. Expected better and felt underwhelmed on my departure. Sorry I really wanted to like it!

Absolutely outstanding! Some of the best BBQ I have ever had. Their brisket is extremely tender and flavorful with an amazing bark around it. I would suggest ordering the pork ribs as well they are meaty and very juicy. Make sure to leave room for dessert. Pecan lodge makes great peach cobbler, but nothing can match their banana puddling. Their banana puddling is nothing short of heavenly.

Best BBQ I’ve ever had, hands down.(Disclaimer: I’m from California, so take that as you wish). My friend moved to Texas recently and she said that we just HAD to go here. She picked us up from Love Field and we arrived around 1pm on a Friday(virtually no line at this time, FYI). You can smell the BBQ from outside and we were getting REALLY excited. I ordered the Pit Master so I could try a bit of everything(and because I’ve never met a BBQ sandwich I didn’t like). Brisket + pulled pork + sausage(the best!) with fresh jalapeños was SOGOOD. The meat was tender and very smokey and flavorful. I got it with a side of Mac and Cheese. Warm, super gooey, with onions and peppers in it to give it a little oomph(not spicy, just more flavor). Oh, and I almost forgot, sprinkled with perfectly crisp bacon. Service at the bar was fast and friendly. If you can find a seat up there, they do full service.

The smokiness and aroma surrounding this place is amazing. Located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Pecan Lodge has a parking lot, although lots of metered parking spots are available throughout the area. Dropping by at 3 pm, I was pleasantly surprised to find no wait but the back patio was filled with patrons and the inside seating was partially filled as well. Unfortunately, arriving late meant that the beef rib had sold out, so I settled for brisket, pork ribs, sausage, and pulled pork. Everything is priced by the half pound but you can order as little as a quarter pound for some items. I also got a side of Mac ‘N Cheese. Service is self serve and you grab your utensils, drinks, and pick a table that is complete with two BBQ sauces(spicy and regular) as well as a roll of paper napkins. My order was ready in minutes. Brisket — $ 10/half pound. Their signature item and it has a great smoky aroma like the surroundings. It’s a nice mix of lean but partially fatty brisket. Flavor was great but I had two nitpicks: it’s served room temperature so fairly cold(perhaps due to my late arrival) and was a touch dry, although helped tremendously by the great BBQ sauce. Regular Sausage — $ 4.50 each. I opted for the regular and not the jalapeño cheddar. It was juicy, tasty, but also served room temperature. A good sausage with a bit more chewy parts than store bought sausage but not to dissimilar from some sausages I’ve bought at Costco or from my local butcher, except for the added smokiness. Pulled Pork — $ 8.50/half pound. Tender but also a tad dry and some bits were definitely more crisp but given how people love burnt ends maybe that’s a good thing. Helped by the BBQ sauce. Pork Ribs — $ 9.50/half pound. Disappointed the beef rib was all gone but the pork ribs were a good replacement. Two pork ribs came with the half pound order and the meat was tender, juicy, and again a nice mix of lean to fat. I enjoyed this and the brisket most. Mac ‘N Cheese — $ 3 side. Topped with bacon, this side dish was very rich and creamy. It’s a bit thick and almost coated in the cheese. It gets you full very quickly. Probably a tad too rich for me. Overall, I had a great stop at Pecan Lodge. It was my first introduction to real BBQ and I loved the smokiness of the meats as well as the nice mix of fat and lean. I wish things were served more hot but that’s a pet peeve of mine and I enjoyed it all more when I brought the leftovers home and reheated. A few items were also more dry than I expected but flavor was still good and the supplied BBQ sauce was great. The place is spacious and there’s a great back patio as well as live music some days. All in all, a great stop. Pecan Lodge accepts credit cards including American Express.

Seriously, I have not had a legit barbecue as good as this. We got there at 1030am to wait in line until it opened. Don’t be intimidated by the line, there is plenty of space inside for all! Plus the weather while waiting is a plus(perfect in February) Hypes: — Burnt ends. Definitely get. wow. — Brisket and pulled pork are well cooked, soft, juicy, and inhaled within minutes — Mac and cheese with bacon bits. I can’t stress enough how you gotta get this. Seriously good. — Fried okra — if you’re in a big group, get this. Its good to snack on — Sodas — the root beer is off the chain. They also serve some interesting sodas like blueberry flavored. Lemonade is always a hit — Interesting chocolate chip pretzel cookie — Hot mess — wow. Meat on a sweet potato with chives cheese and toppings. Extremely flavorful — changing table for babies in restroom !! Gripes: — long lines — thinking of this food just makes me wish I was in Dallas eating the food right now — too far from where i live

3.5−3.75** Perhaps it’s because I’ve been spoiled with Franklin’s or LABBQ, or I simply came on a bad day, but Pecan Lodge was quite disappointing. I came here on Friday around noon and the line only took 15 min., which is fantastic compared to other BBQ joints. I ordered brisket, burnt ends and of course, beef ribs with a side of mac and cheese. The brisket is a little dry and bland. In my opinion, good brisket is good by itself and doesn’t require BBQ sauce; however, I had to drizzle BBQ sauce on mine to make it more enjoyable. This is my first time having burnt ends, so i’m not sure how it compares to others. The burnt ends here are pretty good — it’s smokey, full of flavor, but is a tad dry(not sure if it’s supposed to be this way since they’re ‘burnt’). The beef ribs seemed a little overcooked, which resulted in a less fatty and buttery beef ribs that I had hoped for. Lastly, the mac and cheese is cheesy and tastes homey, so no complaints here. Overall, I had hoped for more due to my friends’ recommendations. While it was a disappointing experience, I have not tried other Dallas BBQ joints, so I’m not sure how Pecan Lodge compares. However, I hope to change that and update my review to see if Pecan Lodge is really one of the best BBQ joints in North Texas!

My dad swore up and down that Pecan Lodge was the best place for BBQ in Texas. I haven’t had BBQ enough to call it the«best,» but this place was pretty darn great. We came around 11:30 on a Thursday morning because I’ve heard about lines that wrapped around the block, but we only waited in line for ten minutes(prob because there was only 1 cashier). I’ve also heard they close when meat runs out, LOL. Service was awesome. There was plenty of space inside and out, but it was breezy outside so we took a table right in the middle. It wasn’t too packed when we arrived, but the line touched the door when we left at 12:30(there was an empty line followed by a rush). The décor made us feel like we were right at home. There were so many awards on the walls that you could them if the line was stuck. We all got the 3 meat + 1 side combo: brisket, pulled pork, and sausage(didn’t feel like getting handsy with ribs), along with coleslaw, mac & cheese, and fried okra + rolls. When I was in line, the trays on people’s tables didn’t look too filling, but we were totally full halfway through. The brisket was moist and delicious! Perfect amount of fat. The homemade sausage was good. The pulled pork was also excellent. It was my first time trying fried okra ever, and I must say I’m a fan. :) The coleslaw was good to balance out the heaviness of the meats, so personally, I wouldn’t choose the mac & cheese(which had bacon bits! I’d order it alone). Everyone liked the lemonade. Would come back to try the ribs :) PS — Does anyone know what soap they use in the bathroom? LOL

The thing that impressed me the most about Texas, the food here is off the chain. I did not hold out high hopes for finding great food in Dallas, or Texas in general. That was the consensus going in. It couldn’t have been more wrong. One spot that did not disappoint, The Pecan Lodge. Held up as one of the best spots for BBQ in the state, it didn’t quite hold that top spot over some I had in Austin, the food here is no joke. In line right at the open, I got one of the first few cuts off that beautiful Brisket. That crisp dark black peppered crust holding in the smokey goodness that wafts down the streets of the Deep Ellum. Super moist, ribbons of beef fat had softened to gel, but not rendered out of the coarse grained meat. Unlike many(almost all) Texas BBQ spots, the BBQ here is not served with slices of Wonder Bread. Its a miss, especially here, where the brisket would have spread like hot butter on toast. They do sell Hawaiian bread rolls for $ 0.50 each, I’d grab a few next time for sure. Better than that, this Hand-Made Sausage, was outrageously good. They make two kinds, a spicy pork sausage and a jalapeño and cheese beef sausage. I only got the chance to try the first one. It may be single the best sausage I have ever eaten. There is a deep tradition in sausage making in Texas, harking back to the influx of German immigrants since the 1830’s. German sausage is pretty damn good, but they ain’t got nothing like these here links from the Lodge. A+

What’s the one thing you must do when in Texas? Eat barbecue! A few locals had recommended this place to me and so I wanted to check out the hype. My co-worker and I arrived around 11am and the place was already packed! The line to order was easily a 30+ min wait. Luckily for us 2 seats opened up at the bar so we took it right away! I ordered the brisket with a side of mac and cheese and fried okra. All were delicious! The brisket was smoked well and super tender. Portions were also very generous for the price. In all, we enjoyed the food and lively ambiance here!

This was my first time at the infamous BBQ spot of Deep Ellum. We were had heard that it was a place where you needed to get up early and get line first thing if you really wanted to get some BBQ. And we were so glad that we did, by the time noon came around, the line had wrapped around outside the restaurant itself. We ordered The Trough for the 5 of us to share and this was plenty as we also got a large side of jalapeño Mac and fried okras. The Mac was incredible, one of the best I have ever had, the okras were just fried okras not that special. Unlike most bbq joints, bread didn’t really come with the rode and so we orders the rolls on the side which seemed to be the Hawaiian dinner rolls, I was looking forward to slices of bread though so that was a little bummer. We came for meat so that’s wha freaky matter. The brisket was great, nice a juicy, I didn’t really care for the sausage as I am not much of a sausage fan to begin with anyways. Although there was a nice snap to it and was pretty good. The pulled pork was okay also I didn’t really care much for that but the ribs were my favorite. I tried it with and without the barbq sauce but it was great either way. Let’s not forget how packed this place got once it opened and the nonstop crowd that came through. It was a great atmosphere and really enjoyable. I would defiantly come back and probably consume a little less just because I might’ve over indulge in all that meat and felt ready for a nap after that being first thing in the morning.

It is hard to say anything besides how spectacular this bbq is. Their brisket is juicy and to die for. Their beef ribs are incredible. The sausage is amazing and the sides ain’t too shabby either! It opens at 11 and the line starts at 10:30, so either get there early OR try the ‘family’ line(you have to order at least 5 lbs of meat) and you skip everyone else and your food comes out far quicker. If you don’t finish it, take it to-go. It’s very worth it. There’s plenty of seating and the tables tend to turn over relatively quick seeing as it can be a loud venue. And don’t forget to enjoy a beer from their bar! ~Carpe Diem~

I came 45 mins before they opened to make sure we had a good spot in line. Thank goodness I did because a good 10 mins later the line started wrapping around the patio area. The wait wasn’t too bad since you order before you sit and the food comes out no more than 10 mins after you put your order in. The BBQ was pretty good but not amazing, but I’m not a huge BBQ fan either. I do have to say the Spicy BBQ sauce they had on the tables was really good! The Mac and cheese was good, it had a hint of jalapeño but it didn’t stay warm too long after I got it. I’d recommend it for BBQ lovers!

Pecan Lodge offers great barbecue in Dallas. Not as good as some of the others I tried in the area but nonetheless still very very good! I had the 3 meat platter and chose brisket, pork rib and jalapeño sausage. Surprisingly the best thing I ate from that platter was the jalapeño sausage. It was absolutely incredible! I highly recommend trying it. I was a little disappointed by the portions. I only got one slice of brisket and one rib. I expected at least 2 of each for $ 17. Overall very good barbecue and I would go back.

Best BBQ I’ve ever had! The long, snaking line progressed pretty quickly, which impressed me. I had the three-meat combo(brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs) with Mac and cheese. And a tumbleweed cookie! The meat was near heavenly! And with two sauce options, you just can’t go wrong. While I enjoyed the Mac and cheese with its creamy sauce and mixed in jalepenos, I think it would have been much better breaded and baked. I needed to add quite a bit of black pepper, too. The pickles were good but j was confused by he sliced raw white onion– I thought they’d be pickled. We chose to sit outside, which was since since the weather was pretty mild. The busser kept a close eye on us to see if we needed anything. I would have liked to have seen a bucket for used napkins, as we used a whole pile of them. If I find myself back in the area I will run straight to Pecan Lodge!

I got to Pecan Lodge just when it opened, so I was able to grab a seat at the bar without a wait! If you go to the bar, the people holding down that area will help you put in an order, so go over there if you are alone or with just a couple of friends. The main line goes by fast, but it can get quite overwhelming. Service was phenomenal. I got my food within five minutes of entering Pecan! I settled on the three meat plate($ 17) made up of the brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, pork ribs, and mac and cheese. Unfortunately, my server forgot to tell me that you can choose burnt ends as one of the meats, so I wasn’t able to give those a shot :’(. You can’t order the beef brisket unless you order a pound’s worth(~$ 22). If I lived in the area, I’d give it a shot, but I already have way too many leftovers in my hotel fridge. Sadly, I found the mac and cheese to be rather bland. I’ve had better elsewhere, not to mention, it wasn’t served as warm as I’d like. The cheese was a bit runnier than I’d like it to be. However, the bacon atop was crispy! Regarding drinks, if you order one that is non-alcoholic($ 2.65 e.g. soda or iced tea), you can get unlimited refills! They just give you a glass with ice, then you can walk on over to the soda machine from there. Brisket — Nice and tender, but it didn’t meet my very high expectations. I found it to be a bit dry. Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage — My favorite of the three meats. Full of flavor! It’s got that nice kick to the original sausage. Be careful when you stick your fork in — oil might squirt out! Pork Ribs — Flavorful, but light on the meat. I only got a couple of bites out of this. Like the mac and cheese, the meat wasn’t served hot. Big bummer… Maybe it was an off time? My server kept a close eye on me despite the chaos. The service is absolutely phenomenal! Pecan Lodge is definitely worth checking out.

I’m always in the hunt for some good BBQ. And although just like a good Houstonian, I pretty much despite Dallas, I couldn’t help but profess my love to Pecan Lodge because HOLY F-ING SHIT, they make some really good BBQ! I was actually visiting Arlington, TX to pick up a new used car that I had just purchased. But since I’m in the area, I wouldn’t have left without actually saying hi and bye to my family who lives up in Plano. Well, I didn’t feel like driving all the way up there because that’s kind of out of the way on my way back to Houston, right? So my brother in law recommended that we’d just meet here at Pecan Lodge. Prior to that day, I’d never heard of Pecan Lodge. Unlike Salt Lick or Franklin BBQ in Austin that plenty of people around me have talked about, Pecan Lodge was just never mentioned. So imagine my surprise when I drove past this place looking for a parking spot and there was a super long line snaking out the door(and this was around 1:00 pm on a Saturday). I found a street parking a couple of blocks away and made my way here. My family was already waiting in line for about 15 minutes when I arrived, and the door was nowhere near. It probably took another 15 minutes to get our feet in the door, and guess what? The line was long on the inside as well! Holy crap! It felt like waiting in line to get on the Harry Potter ride at the Island of Adventure in Orlando, no kidding! Here’s the thing, though. If you’re going to buy at least 5 lbs of meat, then you get to cut the regular line and go to the express line. Yes, there’s a line there as well, but not nearly as long as the regular line. So, that’s what we decided to do. We ordered what they called«The Trough». It costs $ 75 but it will definitely feed your whole family, and then some. What you get with the Trough is 1 lb of brisket, 1 beef rib, 1 lb of pork rib(they were out, so we received two beef ribs instead), ½ lb of pulled pork, and 3 sausage links. We also ordered some mac ‘n cheese on the side. When our order was called and I picked up the order, the tray was heavy — obviously. Although we were supposed to get 1 lb of brisket, it looked like we had received more; or maybe that was just in my head. First thing I tried was the brisket, since it’s my favorite. And oh em gee, it was moist, tender, delicious, and out of this world. You know that feeling when you first taste something and you have that surprised look on your face and your taste buds are all dancing happy dance and you’re all like, «wow, I wasn’t expecting THAT!» Yeah, that was totally my reaction. And I hadn’t had that reaction in a long while when it came to BBQ. The beef rib was my 2nd favorite, followed with the sausage and the pulled pork. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that the pulled pork was bad, They were all delicious, but the pulled pork was the only one of which I didn’t go, «you other people get your hands off it! It’s all MINE! MINE! MINE!» you dig? They offer two types of BBQ sauces — original and spicy. If you’re eating the brisket, feel free to skip the sauce altogether. This is the type of BBQ that you can enjoy without the sauce. However, if you want to try the sauces, my favorite was the original one. But your taste bud ain’t my taste bud. The mac ‘n cheese wasn’t too bad at all. It’s nothing special, but it’s nothing worth mentioning. If you like mac ‘n cheese like I do, don’t expect anything out of this world like their BBQ. All in all, if you’re ever in the area, or if you live in the area and you haven’t tried this place out, then WHY? FORTHELOVEOFALLGOODBBQS, JUSTWHY?! Yes, the wait can be long. However, it’s worth it. Like, seriously. Okay, I gotta stop. I’m now craving some Pecan Lodge BBQ. Sigh.

Long line, fast service and great food. The line at this place is pretty ridiculous. Passed by here on NYE and the line was out the door and around the corner. Decided to come try this place another day and ended up here on a weekday around 12PM and the line was only about ~15−20mins.which wasn’t bad. They have an express line for people ordering 5lb or more. For food, I ordered the 2 meat plate with beef brisket and sausage with a side of fried okra. I was personally not a fan of the okra but everything else was quite heavenly. The beef brisket was moist and tender, and the sausage was flavorful. I highly recommend the beef brisket as a definite choice of meat as it was definitely my favorite part of the meal. Overall, I would love to come back here next time I’m in town… but only if the line was resonable.

People said this is the second best BBQ joint in Texas so my expectation was quite high so here’s what I think. Atmosphere:(3⁄5) * Restaurant is nice however the music is loud and it feels like a fish market auction in there, not that they can help it because it’s always packed. Food:(4⁄5) * Great ribs and brisket! But I kinda feel it’s not at it’s finest because the meats don’t fall apart and not as tender as it should be but the taste is absolutely delicious. The fat content on brisket was lovely. I like to eat cartilage of the ribs but Pecan Lodge’s ribs their cartilage is too hard so I’m sad for that T_T I’m not really impressed with the sides so much the collard green was very sweet. Staff:(5⁄5) * Staffs are beyond awesome. They are all very nice, humble, polite, and helpful. So don’t worry about service they are top notch! Cleanliness:(3⁄5) * Don’t expect much because of the volume of customers here. They do have busers but with the amount of people in there it can be hard to catch up. Good hang out spot: If you can find a table for big party then yes! Tips: 1.) If you order 5lb of meat or more about $ 75 there is an express line that you don’t have to wait. 2.) They have flat rate all day parking around there so be sure to make other plan to do in the area if come visit. 3.) They have a bar that you can order drinks and take it to the waiting line. Super Asian tips: Try the brisket with rice and kimchi, it’s heaven!

Headed over here right after the Peticola brewery tour(around 3:30pm) on a Saturday. Plenty of parking on the streets and lots surrounding the restaurant. The line was right by the front door and took us about 20 minutes to get to the cashier. Once we ordered, the food was ready in just a few minutes. This is one of those places where you have to find a table on your own after you order, but we didn’t really have any issues with this, even with a party of 6. Seating is pretty packed into the restaurant, with just enough room to weave through. I got the Southern Fried Chicken, which comes with two rolls and a side. So yummy, even if it was a little on the saltier side. I got to taste some of the brisket from my husband’s order of the 3 meat combo — it pulls apart and was really good. I would totally come back and try more of their BBQ next time!

It’s a great spot for smoked meat it the Dallas area. It will be crowded when u get there so I advise you to bring a crowd and order the trough so you don’t have to wait on that long line. The brisket was very tender and full of smoke with succulent fat mixed with every bite. The smoked ribs were flavorful and fall of the bone delicious. Not a big fan of pulled pork but this Pork was very flavorful and good. The short rib was ok but it felt like it was over cooked and was a leftover piece for me and was dry and stringy For something that is so pricey it should be cooked right. Mac and cheese and the collard greens were also delicious. All in all I enjoyed the dining experience the food was flavorful.
