Pho Chau Restaurant

This place is great! I’m a little weird about meat, so I never order any and I can’t speak to that, but I do love their Phở sans meat, and their fried rice (again with no meat) is always my second choice. The veggies and herbs served on the side are always so flavorful and fresh.
I also always get an order of spring rolls. I pull out the shrimp and dunk the rolls in the side sauce they’re served with. I could drink that stuff.
Lastly, I really love the blended honeydew bubble tea. Sometimes it takes awhile to get when they’re busy — but totally worth it.
The owner always comes over and chats with us, he’s a really nice guy. And the service is always prompt and polite. They now know my mom and I as the meatless phở girls and remember our orders.

A friend invited me to this place after he heard I like phở. I was a little scared since it’s in a sketchy area and the building it’s in is old and worn. Inside it has multiple tables cramped into a small space. The inside also looks old and the tables are basic from a 1980’s diner. The restroom is also somewhat clean but functional.
The staff has always been friendly, especially the man that seems to always be there working… maybe he’s the owner or a relative? They take your order quickly and your food also comes out pretty quick. Their menu is pretty extensive but I only come here for the phở.
They are always busy/​packed during the lunch rush. The best thing to do is call your order in ahead of time and take it to go!
Their phở is always flavorful and full of veggies and is a huge portion at a bargain price. Many other restaurants with nicer décor in better locations (and they pay higher rent) charge more for much less soup than what I get here.
The only negative is that it’s closed on the weekend when I have the most time to come get me some phở.

Phở Chau is the closest viet/​phở restaurant to the medical district/​hospital, so it is frequently visited by hungry medical students/​residents craving a bowl of warm phở. It’s sad though because Phở Chau could have done so much more… it could have been SO MUCH more.
Environment: it’s located in a pseudo-​shady looking plaza. Next to an iHOP and a sushi restaurant… so definitely not the nicest place on the outside. However, the inside is actually fairly well lit and organized! When I came, I actually saw several couples having meals here. As I sat down at my table for one with nothing else but my STEP book, it felt awfully lonely. But hey! Oh well. (PHO-​ever alone). Point being… I guess people come here for dates?! Not gonna lie, you are seated pretty close to each other, so I may or may not have heard a good 70% of one couple’s conversations…
Service: Mediocre. Service people are fine. I came pretty late, so they were closing by the time I finished… so they didn’t really pay attention to me after I ordered… not sure what to make of that.
Food: Phở here, just like everything else, is so-​so. It’s not terrible, but you will unlikely be amazed. I began my order with 2 pork spring rolls, aka my go-​to appetizer. In the past, I’ve ordered the shrimp spring rolls and I was NOT impressed. This time, I tried out the pork ones and they were much better. The meat was really chewy, which can be good or bad depending on your preference, but otherwise, very standard. Also… NO PEANUT SAUCE?! They only gave me Hoison sauce… smh…
I got a large P3, which I believe is the lean steak, tendon, brisket phở. It came pretty quick. I mean… again, it wasn’t TERRIBLE, but nothing spectacular. I felt like the soup itself was pretty watered down and didn’t add too much to the phở, and there was a decent amount of meat for how much I paid.
In all, I ended up spending 12 bucks here for a large bowl of phở and 2 spring rolls, which to me (a POOR MEDICAL STUDENT) is a lot of money. I was full coming out, but honestly, it didn’t really satisfy my phở craving on a cold night T_​T.

When you follow the lines of people there must be something worth waiting for. Had the flat noodles with chicken and it was saucy, tons of chicken and full of flavor! Ordered the pork sandwich. The bread was hot and crusty and the pork was delicious! I’m not sure what the sauce was in the sandwich but I loved it! Ordered the Phở with chicken to go. Heats up extremely well and the flavor is some of the best Phở I’ve ever had! The experience was genuine and friendly. I wish I had gotten his name but the small in shape Vietnamese guy was really funny and personable. I’m definitely going back!

I got the vermicelli with grilled chicken. The chicken was very dry, seemed coated in some sort of dark sauce, they used ice berg lettuce. The egg roll tasted very different than other places. It tasted like there was a ton of sugar in it. There were barely any other vegetables besides green onions a cilantro.
The beef phở broth was very dark and it gave me a stomach ache after. Not sure what else they put in it or if it was the MSG.

Its more of a 2.5 stars. The Vietnamese restaurant was so much nicer then I expected. I dined in during the busy lunch hour and it was filled with patrons from the office buildings nearby. The restaurant wasn’t too big or too small and its definitely cleaner compared to a typical Vietnamese spot found in the Richardson/​Garland area. The waitress was quite helpful as well.
The menu was very basic and also included the basic fried rice and ect. I ordered the Phở with round eye steak and egg noodles (never tried having egg noodles in my phở before so I thought I would try it!). I thought the egg noodles were overcooked and the broth was a tad on the salty side BUT I was glad to be able to eat some Phở nearby work. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The one thing that bothered me is that there wasn’t any fish sauce (not the house fish sauce) on the table near the chile or hoison sauces. I guess its okay because it might scare some of the customers.
Overall: I would return if I am in desperate need of some Phở. Otherwise, its not too bad at all.

In my opinion the best phở I’ve had… Period. I don’t come here for anything other than the phở so my rating is strictly based on the phở and NOT the other dishes they have here. The décor is nothing special and the service is good. But what stands out in my mind is the phở. If you like spicy food, then you have to try the P7 with the spicy sate sauce which is great! It’s spicy but the spice does not overwhelm. The phở has more than enough noodles and compared to many other restaurants that make phở, there’s always more meat in their phở than what most other restaurants offer. All in all you get great tasting phở at a great value. I’ve never experienced a «bad day» from the kitchen and the owner is always friendly and working there. The phở and the value you get for your money deserves a 5 star rating but a 4 star overall.

I’ve been here a few times with co-​workers and friends but I always cringe when I do. I would prefer to go somewhere else for cheap, authentic Vietnamese food. Sadly, those places are usually in Garland, far from where I work. Their food isn’t super terrible but it could use a lot of improvement. I’ve had the crispy noodle with beef. I thought it needed more flavor. They did make the noodles crispy so I was pretty happy about that. I’ve also had their beef and meatball phở. The beef was good but the meatballs were questionable. The meatballs tasted strange and had a rubbery texture. I might have to try something else on their menu if my co-​workers really want to go again.

Limited Asian food choices in this area so I didn’t come here with high expectations. It was worse than I expected. I ordered beef meat balls noodle soup, and it had literally TWO small meat balls that were cut up in thin pieces to create an illusion that there are more meat balls than TWO. Not to mention they are oddly soft and flavorless. The soup was served within a minute after I ordered, so I suspected that these beef balls had been in the soup since god knows when. The spoon smells like bleach. Noodles were soggy. And a bowl of small phở still costs $ 7.50. Ugh.

I work close by, and it’s one of the few options around. It’s a decent place to grab a bowl of phở, but I’ve definitely had better.
The service is quick, even for how busy they get during lunch, and the portion sizes are pretty generous. I tried the egg rolls for the first time today, and they were warm and crispy but had kind of a weird sweet taste to them that I don’t normally get from Vietnamese egg rolls. The phở is pretty standard — nothing that really stands out.
I’m a phở addict, but next time I’ll probably try the pad thai. My coworker (who’s also had the phở) said it’s pretty amazing.

I was studying alone at TWU Dallas for an exam and read some great reviews about this healthy little place so I drove over here. Very close to the hospital area and fast and efficient service. Definitely a great place for lunch.
I had:
veggie spring roll: huge chunks of tofu wrapped in, but otherwise no difference in taste than other phở places.
phở chin nam: I like fatty brisket and it was disappointing to not have that option here, but the phở itself is still quite full of flavor and hearty.
They have boba tea too, which I didn’t get to try because I had to go back to campus to take my exam. I can see myself coming by for a tea after class though!

Quick lunch. Soda Chanh was pretty good here.
I had the meatball Phở and they were really good. Big serving as well, had lots of noodles in it, but could have used more meat.
They offered shrimp or pork spring rolls, I had them make me pork and shrimp spring rolls. I also took a Viet Coffee to go.

By far the best spicy Phở I’ve ever had. I’m a big fan of Phở and have tried many in Dallas and Houston, this one is the best I’ve had. However, let me point out I’m speaking of the spicy Phở, it’s P 7 on the menu (or maybe 7 P).
Uncle Greasy

I’m really struggling trying to decide if this place is two or three stars. I don’t care about the décor and how new the tables are, none of that stuff bothers me. I came here with a co-​worker two hours after my first lunch (I know, I’m a fatty) and actually hungry and ready to try some phở. We ordered the crispy spring rolls and they were cold, soggy and extremely greasy. Not a good start. The flavor was good actually, but I just couldn’t get passed the fact they were so cold. My co-​worker, who isn’t really experienced with Viet food said that his was so cold, he just thought that was how they were supposed to be. lol, he thought they were the rice noodle spring rolls that he’s heard so much about. No, buddy, these were supposed to be fried and crispy unfortunately.
My phở (3p with brisket, tendon and flank steak) was actually okay, although my broth did taste like bbq brisket. My co-worker’s vermicelli was insane looking. Insane as in, I-don’t-know-what-the-hell-it-was-but-it-sure-wasn’t-vermicelli insane. It didn’t even look like the vermicelli noodles. It was a big bowl of stir fry noodles with brocolli, snow peas, and a bunch of soy sauce all mixed together. It didn’t look like the typical vermicelli bowl with the fresh veggies and meat all perfectly placed with maybe another crispy springroll cut up on top and a small side of fish sauce/​chili sauce… He said it was good though.

It’s a phở joint. And considering everyone else there was eating phở — i should have known better and gotten that. But I wanted rice and I’ve always loved viet rice dishes, so what could go wrong right?
It was a little odd that it was so busy and I was a single top — that they asked if it was okay that other people sat with me (no biggie as i obliged). Then I ordered a rice dish with pork and egg and a coconut juice to drink. When my dish came out there was no egg, when asked «hey where’s my egg?» the lady said «we ran out.» But she added an egg roll in place of the egg. The egg roll tasted a little under cooked as it was soggy/​mushy in the center. The pork was more like pork bits. it was as if they ran out of pork as well and just tried to cook what ever piece they could find. When I realized my coconut juice never came out, I asked about that and she said «we ran out of that too. you can have soy bean milk, it’s very good.»
So i felt a little duped that they should tell people if they are out of it first — instead of serving what they had left and trying to upsell after the fact. Furthermore, the people that eat there all seem like business folks — cheap business folks — as everyone that lined up to pay had to split bills 3 — 4 different ways, despite it only being $ 8 a dish. And the guy at the register didn’t know how to use the register so he used a calculator to try and figure everything out.
Overall a strange experience. It wasn’t necessarily disgusting… but I don’t think i’ll be coming back anytime soon.

I guess with Phở in the name, that’s what I should’ve ordered but I had a hankering for some good pork bahn mi so that’s what took me out here.
And good it was. 12 inch bun, the most amazingly flavored grilled pork I think I’ve ever had, and pretty cheap at something like 6 bucks including a soda & tip.
Location not the best but I was also headed to the DFW gun range so worked out well.
With nice cheap plastic décor & serving wear, it’s all about good quick cheap food here. Just like in Vietnam (or Victoria st Richmond if I want to talk closer to home)

Good bowl of phở. No complaints here. Some of the best brisket in phở I have had. Employees are really friendly, but one of them cusses like a sailor, only in Vietnamese, so some of you would never know.
Would recommend if you are in the area and want a quick bowl of Vietnamese goodness in your stomach.

Great place for a steaming bowl of belly-​warming Phở on your average day ;)
Pros: Very good, authentic, flavorful phở. The pricing is reasonable, and fast service!
Cons: their cuts of meat are thick, causing my rib eye meat to be chewy, making it harder to enjoy
I’ve been here several times for lunch and they definitely have a lunch rush which is both a good thing and a bad thing! A good time to go before the rush sets in is 1130−12ish. Otherwise around 1230, it gets packed and you’ll end up sitting next to random strangers while eating just to accommodate all hungry customers =P
I haven’t tried their rice dishes but the two men who ate right next to me finished their rice plates to the T. I mean… No grain of rice might’ve been left on their plate! Lol

Okay, so I didn’t have the phở. I am just not a phở person. Instead, I ordered the veggie delight (stir fried broccoli, sprouts, carrots, cabbage) with chicken (menu item 4C). It was perfect. The vegetables were fresh and not over or undercooked. The chicken had a lot of flavor and was of good quality. The dish is served with a little ramekin of sweet and sour sauce, which I immediately placed aside so that I had more room on the plate for sriracha.
Given that I was really hungry, the serving size was exactly what I was looking for today, but I can see how it might be too much food on other days (there was about ¹⁄₃ of a chicken breast unit and maybe 2 cups of vegetables). The food was only $ 7.49, and the soda must have been under $ 2. Icing on the cake was that they were totally willing to give me a to go cup and a refill of my soda for the insanely hot drive back to the office. Score!
The interior is just as fancy as Sushi time next door (not that fancy), but the service was fast and friendly, and the prices are great. Banh mi is under $ 5, phở and fried rice around $ 6 – 7.
