I had to wait quite awhile when I was here. It’s understandable given the need for a place like this and since there’s typically only one nurse practitioner working at a time. Over all I had a good experience. The nurse practitioner gave me my woman’s wellness check and made me feel as comfortable as she could given the kind of appointment it was.

Planned Parenthood no longer has a sliding scale based on income. It sucks, yes, but at least they still offer the same quality services. I do have a slight issue with their appointments. I made an appointment a week earlier, then when I showed up I was told that appointment was cancelled and they had called me and left a message. No, they didn’t call. I even checked my phone’s call log in front of the check-in desk and verified they had the correct phone number. No missed call and no message. I had to reschedule for the following day and luckily I wasn’t working those days. Imagine the mess if I had been working, though! On the second scheduled appointment, I checked in early, and waited about 20 minutes to be taken back to the exam room. I was first seen by a really knowledgeable Medical Assistant who answered any questions. Then, there was a nurse who conducted the physical exam. She was quick and painless and also provided great information. She gladly prescribed the birth control I wanted and made sure to give me the generic version so that I only paid about $ 10/pack. I had my legs up on the stirrups while she was sitting at the desk talking to me after the exam. I had to finally ask if she was through with the exam and if could I put my legs down. Ummm, hello, I’m exposed here and you were through a couple of minutes ago and didn’t tell me? OK, maybe the nurse got distracted with writing down my information on the paperwork, but still, let a lady know immediately that she can put her legs down and sit up on the table. Immediately! The exam itself was not cheap — around $ 200! I paid out of pocket cash and was given a slight discount for the service, around $ 160. When you call to make an appointment the staff will happily explain how much all the services cost and what is included. Just ask! The building itself is newer and in a nice part of town in a shopping center. There’s plenty of parking. The waiting room is small, but clean. I’d definitely go again if needed, but be prepared to drop some cash, as PP has lost a lot of funding that once helped lower income women pay for their reproductive care.

This one is located next to bed, bath and beyond off of Greenville and Park Lane. I scheduled a morning appointment for a pelvic exam. I showed up 15 minutes early and filled out paperwork. I had to wait 15 – 20 minutes? before I was called in. The receptionists were pretty nice. The lobby was pretty quiet; there were only one or two other people waiting. The nurse who did my exam was efficient, friendly, and patient. She answered all of my questions. I would come back again, and I would recommend it to others.

Meh. I’ve experienced better. And that’s the truth. I came to this location, expecting it to be like any other PP but I had a much better experience at the one by my school in San Diego. There, the scale was broken so I was 20 pounds thinner, they gave me a year supply of brand-name desogen birth control, a bunch of really classy-looking condoms that said«proper attire required for entry», and a huge bottle of watermelon lube that I use as a centerpiece on my dining room table.(I’m totally kidding– it was banana flavored) And I got it all FORFREE. 100% gratis. =) So I was expecting something similar here in Dallas. At this location, the doctor was rough during the exam. Unnecessarily so. AND her scale made me 20 pounds heavier(wait– it’s either her fault or La Madeline– we will never know). I had to pay 65 bucks just for the exam and no free stuff. Luckily, I didn’t need anything– I’m stocked up until 2015, but come on! I’m guessing the difference is that in Cali, there’s a really high income tax and Texas has none, so our public programs aren’t as friendly– but that’s just a guess. Hopefully, I won’t have to come back here.
