The flavor of these tacos are so clean and fresh. I had the resident chicken and the mushroom tacos. We also had the soup of the day(corn chowder) and the chorizo fundido. All super delicious and uniquely flavorful. Service was outstanding and quick. Resident Taqueria is a MUST try! And finish it off with their homemade ice dessert — so refreshing!

I love having a great place to eat in the neighborhood. They get 5 starts for the tacos but 3 starts for sides. My husband and I have tried almost every taco on the menu plus several specials and have never been disappointed. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I enjoy the interesting combinations of texture and flavor. The sides are just not my thing. It’s not that they are bad but the flavors just don’t appeal to me. I do love the fundido, it delicious.

Let me start by saying these are not«authentic mexican tacos» but I knew that going in, I got to talk with the chef who was extremely nice he even offered me a complimentary drink wich was amazing, fermented pineapple, the tacos were really good especially the duck tacos with orange slices very refreshing take on street tacos been back a few times, great place to take your date

Omg I’m in love with this place! The food is purrrrrfection well at least the tacos that I ate tonight were a perfect match to satisfy my tastebuds! Staff was friendly and attentive, it’s the attitude they should have always at a new restaurant, especially when they want you to develop a new love affair with food! No pretentious vibes because fortunately our neighborhood wouldn’t allow it! I’m so in love! You have to try this place out! Let me just say when the food is that good it should reflect through the employees and it defiantly did tonight! All the ingredients tasted so fresh and the flavor combo was just right. Need I say more? First off the portion vs pricing is right on. The corn tortillas perfectly thin. I think the ingredients are wonderful and loved the watermelon radish with the fish taco, it was an unexpected but pleasant surprise and delight to the eyes!

Delicious, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Highly recommend! My sister is good friends with the manger so I can safely say she runs a tight ship. Don’t pass this place up.

I can stop thinking about this place! Tacos were out of this world and the fundito was scrumptious. I have been back twice now and will probably be there once a week. The people who work there also have a great attitude. Great work

I was staying at the Motel 6 nearby and stopped in on New Year’s Eve. The sign was flipped to closed but I could see customers were still in the dining area. So, I walked in just to make sure the they were really closed. The owner said they were and as I was about to turn around and go he said they could hook me up anyways. Lol, I even argued with him slightly, since I knew the staff wanted to get the f*** out of there and go party. I ordered three tacos, one Chorizo, one was beef and the last of the trio was Cauliflower. Unbelievable, the Cauliflower one was my favorite by far. Very inventive and satisfying, and I hate Cauliflower as a stand alone vegetable. This place has the nicest people working here. Best customer service of any restaurant I’ve been to in a long, long time!

Meh, the 3 dollar taco was three bites it was so tiny. The guacamole was good, a tad different but too much for one person. The service was good. May go back to try another taco but I wont be a regular

My husband and I were excited to try out this new taqueria close to home, but we were a bit disappointed. The atmosphere and presentation were great, but the actual taste was below par. The glazed pork belly and slow cooked mushroom were the standouts of the evening, but the slow cooked chicken and daily fish tempura were disappointing. The entire chicken taco was very bland when everything else we tasted had so much flavor. The fish tempura was better after removing whatever cream«fish egg» like topping was incorporated in the taco. It was an interesting evening of trying different tacos & sides and getting surprised with the spin on many Mexican standards like parmesean & pumpkin seeds in the guacamole. Fun to try, but don’t think I’ll be a regular.

A good place to grab a snack or a light lunch, not for the truly hungry though. This is a great addition to the Dallas taco scene. So many places are doing the same old tacos without really trying for something new or different. This place changes all of that. The tacos are a bit small for the price averaging about $ 3-$ 4, see my pictures you will know what I mean, but the flavors are great and so is the selection. You get great quality for the price but each taco is two maybe three bites each. The menu is fairly self explained with some great daily options that Chef Savoie comes up with daily. The tortillas are made to order as well as the rest of the menu. I love siting at the kitchen bar and watch the cooks prepare each dish as it comes out. The price for each taco given the size is a bit high but the quality you get makes you understand the reasoning. Don’t come to hungry or just plan on ordering six. Local craft beers are $ 5.

This place just made us mad. The tacos tasted fine but for the cost, we all figured we should have gone to any of a million cheaper and better gas station or hole in the wall taquerias. $ 3(or $ 4) a piece of tacos wouldn’t be so bad if they were not tiny. Also, if I’m paying a premium for many tiny tacos, why must they bring them out all jumbled? We were a group of 4 who all ordered individually 2 or 3 tacos– would it be so hard to have the orders come out together? Instead we received two mixed platters and had to try and remember which was which based her quick listing. The cauliflower was nothing special, the dried kale on top did have a good flavor. The pork shoulder had the most filling of all the tacos and it was tender and the pineapple chunks were good. The beef short rib was also very tender but a comical sized little slab of meat. The two of us who tried the chorizo both said«eh.» None of it really rose above your standard solid taco shop, even with the hoity toitier ingredients. The tortillas are fresh made but again, very small and not as thick as your more traditional fresh flour tortilla. I got the queso fundido as a side and it came 3 of the tiniest tortillas, not nearly enough for the serving of cheese, which was fairly generous and tasty and I liked the little skillet it came in. Reviews were mixed for the other sides– my husband had the cabbage salad and liked it but my friend had the tomato fideos soup and said it didn’t have enough noodles and did not have a pleasant flavor(«bile» was used as a descriptor.) As for the drinks, my Paloma did not taste good– it had some other flavor than tequila and grapefruit soda that I couldn’t place and didn’t enjoy. The tepache shandy didn’t taste bad but the tepache flavor was mild(which I didn’t mind since I’m not a huge fan of pineapple.) The water cups are tiny and you have to go up and ask for a refill over and over. We did like the ices– we tried the hibiscus and the coconut. Both were tasty and not overly sweet.

Mushroom tacos? Cauliflower tacos? Man, this place is goooooood! We’re not from around this area but found our way here after a nearby doc appointment. We ordered up a couple of beers(a solid draft lineup) and some guac to start. This guac was spot on and the chips are something I will dream about! Shortly after my 4 tacos arrived… no judging they are small. In my opinion this is good because you can try more of a variety! FIRST PLACE-Caulifower SECOND(TIE) Tempura Fish & Mushroom THIRD: Braised Short Rib Im definitely not a vegetarian or even close but these damn veggie tacos knocked my socks off! If this place was in my hood I’d probably be here weekly. I will prob have to settle for monthly though. Keep up the good work! :)

Let’s get first things first. I am not an artsy fartsy Tony Romo when it comes to food. If it tastes good then I’m happy with it. These tacos are 5⁄5 in the taste department. However, I do enjoy my food to have some substance to it and Resident Taco dropped the ball there. They are definitely a chef’s creation. Little fresh greens precariously perched atop a small pile of your particular protein. I had the pork belly taco– amazingly flavorful, juicy, and tender; the fish– crispy and tasty; and the pork shoulder– probably my favorite, awesome flavor, ridiculously tender(melt in your mouth kind). All in all I am satisfied with the flavor let down by the size.(Cue Bevis and Butthead laugh) Quick tip: these are tacos in a suit, maybe business casual tacos. Don’t come in here expecting jeans and tshirt tacos.

Where do I start when writing this review? We went to Resident Taqueria last Saturday and were blown away. Not only was the food delicious but the beer selection was marvelous and the service could not be beat! We had had a disappointing meal at El Bolero the evening before and Resident Taqueria gave us what we were craving! We started our meal with four tacos and the fundido. We ended our meal with three more tacos instead of dessert! The Fundido was superb with the cheese having been nicely browned on the bottom while the top remained bubbling and soft. The mushrooms were a nice addition and we fought over who would get the last bite! My favorite taco was the caramelized cauliflower. The cauliflower was browned, the kale slightly crispy, the pepitas roasted, with an aioli was the perfect way to bring the whole thing together. My husband’s favorite was the Resident braised pork shoulder. The pork was moist with great flavor and the mix of pineapple and guajillo brought the taco to another level. We also got to try the house made chorizo which had just the right amount of kick and was some of the best I have had. Other tacos were enjoyed were the mushroom, fish, and pork belly tacos. All of which were delicious! There is also something special about the tortillas. They are unlike any I have had before. They hold the filling perfectly while not being too dense. The texture and flavor works well with each of the tacos we tried and didn’t overwhelm anything. The beer selection was fabulous. We got to pick Chef Andrew’s brain about the beer program and he told us about all the wonderful craft beers he has been able to get. I was excited to try some new brews and might have a new favorite! You can tell Chef Andrew is passionate about Resident Taqueria. The kitchen runs like a fine dining restaurant and the food was consistent each time we saw something leave the pass. The quiet kitchen shows how well the team works together. We are so excited to have this amazing place near our home. This is exactly what the area needed and we will be back!

Ahhhhhhh!!! Quite possibly the BEST gringo tacos in DFW. This is the perfect addition for Lake Highlands residents. We tried the queso, cheesey yet crusty, as it comes out in a cast iron skillet. The pork belly taco is quite possibly my favorite on the menu. It is smoky and flavorful, yet not greasy like some pork belly can be. The other pork taco(I cannot remember the name) was very good, but man, that pork belly is quite possibly the only thing I remember! The chicken fajita is your average chicken fajita. The cauliflower/kale is very good, and it doesn’t make you feel like a no-meat option has just been put in your belly! The garlicky beans are garlicky. Make that GARLICKYGARLICKY. I mean, do not go home expecting to smooch your boo/bae/SO without some binaca or certs. Really great, but you could kill a few vampires with those beans! I cannot wait to go back. I will continue to try everything on the menu until I’m on seconds!

You are going to want to go on a week night at a slightly off time, because it’s a little gem of a spot that can get packed. And it will get packed, because their offerings are simply excellent. So go at a time where you can sit and enjoy some truly creative little works of taco art. Each taco is delicious composition of flavor– the pork belly was very good and the cauliflower was perhaps the best veggie taco I’ve ever tried. And get the fundido. A little pan of Heaven — gooey and crispy cheese– so dang good! It’s all an absolute steal at $ 3 an item. And every rich flavor paired nicely with a crisp Leprechaun cider. It’s a new spot– so like I said, I’d try to get there off peak hours as they are ironing out their service techniques(which they seem to be managing fairly well, considering that they just opened, are tiny, and are dealing with quite the volume of customers.) The food is so good and it’s a sharp looking space. Lake Highlands has a fantastic new addition to the neighborhood. I can’t wait to go back.

Like any good millennial, I felt compelled to check this place out as it is getting an insane amount of buzz after Dallas’ own Annie Clark(aka St. Vincent) worked there over the weekend. Obviously, she was not there nor did I expect her to be there(I’m not an idiot). And while I probably would have never visited Resident Taqueria without having read about it a half dozen times in various media outlets, I’m glad I did; Resident Taqueria is a very good restaurant. The location of the restaurant is, for me at least, very convenient as a resident of east Dallas. But for the rest of Dallas, it’s a bit off the beaten path and not especially close to anything else. Do not let that deter you. The journey to the nondescript strip mall in east Dallas is worth it. The space itself is quite small. Nearly the entire kitchen is visible from the dining space, including the entire cooking area. There is a nice picnic table outside and the décor is festive, bright, and Latin. It is not what you’d expect from a restaurant with its location. The space contains bar seating in front of a very respectable tap consisting of local and distal craft beers. The service I received was very friendly. The young woman who took my order cautioned me that one of the salsa’s available on the counter was very spicy and even offered me some chips, free of charge. The chips were the first indication that this is not a typical taco joint. They were freshly fried and made of actual corn tortillas. Fresh, quality ingredients would quickly become a theme of my experience. My meal consisted of the«unbelievable» beef short rib taco that Ms. Clark raved about, the slow-cooked mushroom taco, the glazed pork belly taco, and the«Resident Daily Soup,» a fire roasted tomato soup. The short rib beef taco was very good but I wouldn’t go so far as «unbelievable.» The meat was favorable, tender, and juicy. What was more unbelievable is that the meat was of such a high quality yet at the«egalitarian» price of $ 4. This should be on your list of things to try. More unbelievable was the mushroom taco. The mushrooms were clearly fresh and of a high quality. The cheese and almonds complimented the very strong mushroom flavor and I found myself wishing I had more. It was really tasty and well-priced at $ 3. The glazed pork belly taco was good. Not exceptional but good. It has a nice hint of sweetness that make it a little different. But I wouldn’t get it again. The final part of my meal was the soup, and it was the soup that made me decide to rate Resident Taqueria 5 stars instead of mere 4. Not because the soup was incredible. It was quite good, but not incredible. It was because I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and its preparation thought out. The soup was garnished with crunchy almonds, Oaxaca cheese, and was generally very well made. In other words, it wasn’t an afterthought. As I was finishing the soup it occurred to me that this Resident Taqueria really cares about the food it serves and that the product is of a higher quality than other taco places. The closest analogue would be the also good and perpetually crowded Velvet Taco. But I’ve never had a Velvet Taco that put this much emphasis in quality. There are an abundance of taco joints in Dallas. Some try to do their own thing but most wind up serving similar items and attempting to appeal to certain types of customers. Few, if any, achieve what Resident Taqueria does: very good food with fresh ingredients, in a clean, comfortable space, and with prices that don’t at all reflect the quality of the food itself. I’m really glad Ms. Clark worked here. Resident Taqueria deserves the attention and probably would not have gotten it otherwise.

Mighty impressed! Must go! Decided to check out Resident instead of heading to Taco Joint for dinner tonight. Not only are the tacos great, but the chips scoop guac and salsa with ease and the napkins stand up to more than one use… We tried the rib taco, pork shoulder taco, mushroom taco, charizo taco, fish taco, chips & guac, and kids chicken quesadillas. All were eaten with enthusiasm. I’d rank the mushroom and rib tacos as my favorite; the others weren’t far behind and are more a matter of what you’re in the mood for. They still have a few kinks to workout with the line to order when it gets crowded due to the small space. Go check it out!

Solid Neighborhood Taco spot. Tacos are the star here. Great homemade tortillas, 8 different kinds of filling to choose from, mushroom fundido, Mexican fried rice, Margarita, Paloma, Mezcal flight(!) Beers on tap, and wine.(not a full bar however).Chef has cooked all over the US and it shows in the taste. Portions and cost for each are on the small size, so order accordingly. Order at the counter. Place is kozy, perhaps 30 seated and 8 at the bar so come early. Great new addition to the area.

Tacos anyone? Resident Taqueria is the newest addition to the always interesting taco scene! After having been open a grand total of 24 hours, I’ve had to the opportunity to try some greatness off of the menu, and how unique, fresh and groovy it is. The menu boasts a variety of carnivore delights, as well as some vegetarian options, all priced at $ 3. In fact, most everything on the menu(sides, kids items) are $ 3 as well. EDIT: the short rib tacos are now $ 4, as indicated by a menu update noted on 10⁄10. My choices were three tacos: slow cooked chicken(includes pickled scallion, peanut and a wonderful mole sauce), the braised beef short ribs(apparently the out of the gate favorite) rounded out by my favorite of the trio, the house made chorizo taco(which has a poppin’ combo of onion, potato and a smoked tomato crema). In addition, I tried a side of guacamole, made fresh and served with chips. Local beers on tap, as well as a variety of bottled sodas. As would be expected for the first couple of days being open to the public(after a soft opening), improvement in the rhythm can be expected, as the crew gets accustomed to the frenetic pace! I see this as a solid addition to the limited food choices Lake Highlands diners now have. If the 15 minute wait for tacos at lunch on a Friday is ANY indication of future success, Resident Taqueria is here to stay. Second visit update: after a very busy first two days, RT has modified the queueing(which was winding deep into the restaurant) by taking names at the door in exchange for a card. This has eliminated a mass of humanity inside the restaurant; a bench and table/chairs are now out front for waiting patrons. Additionally, at POS, you are handed a number vs. the magnetic card attached to the wall used in prior days. Lots of logical adjustments as RT gets into the full-swing of things!
