Had a great experience with Jake B – atmosphere was great but Jake’s cut was definitely the reason I’ll be coming back. Appreciate the great service and hospitality.

Great Salon. Always incredibly clean and inviting. I switched to Salon Aura after the stylist who had been cutting my hair for the past 10 years could not fit me into his schedule the last 2 times I called him. So I called Salon Aura and Michael Landers worked me in, and I have been using him for the past year now. He is always accommodating, and fits me in as my schedule allows. Love being able to support the community and a shop on Cedar Springs!

I am always pleased with the service, atmosphere and company. Darel has been doing my hair for 8 years. He does an amazing job. I had my hair redone 2 weeks ago. As usual I have received over a dozen compliments already.
The salon is up to date, clean and managed perfectly. I cannot say enough good things about Salon Aura. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a new stylist or a new salon to call home. Friendly stylist and relaxing atmosphere with current amenities.

Darel has been doing my hair for 10 years and I would not trust another to touch my hair with color. He’s friendly and consistent with his business acumen. I drive from Tulsa about every 2 months and it’s worth every mile and minute :)

I’ve been going to see Darel since I was in college…17 years ago. He was the first and only person to color my hair and I wouldn’t have it any other way. He was using top of the line organic products before it was trendy to do so. I’ve seen so many people who’ve dyed their hair for less time then I have and their hair has become dry and brittle. My hair continues to be soft and manageable nearly 18 years after I first had it dyed. I moved to central Texas in 2005 and several times I considered looking for a colorist/​hair dresser closer to me, but I could never pull the trigger. It never felt right. When you meet someone who does their job so well and takes pride in their work it’s hard to trust anyone else. I remember when we would chat about Darel opening up his own place and I’m so pleased to see this come to fruition. He has built a lovely salon with a great atmosphere. I would travel back from Austin just to sit in that shampoo chair. It’s probably the Mercedes of shampoo chairs. The other artists in the salon bring the place to life. It’s got such an eclectic feel and everyone is super friendly. I get my hair done a few times a year and the reason why I keep coming to a place that is 225 miles from my home is the experience. From start to finish it is just five star.

Today was my first time at the salon and I was really impressed! The owner really did a great job with the space.. Very clean and great looking. I plan on returning and recommending to all my friends.

I love John Mercer. He’s fun and patient. He does something different each month and keeps my style fresh. Highly recommended.

So I was super excited to see a new salon on Cedar Springs because I frequent the strip and love to support that community. I was greatly disappointed. I came in around 5 on a Friday afternoon and was not greeted by anyone. Finally a short skinny guy with blond stringy hair asked if he could help me. I told him I really needed a haircut because I was going to a wedding that night. He told me no was available but to come back in an hour and half. I said sure and went shopping at the neighboring shops. An hour and a half later I went back, and the guy was extremely rude. He said he was sorry but the guy who WAS gonna cut my hair decided he didnt want to after all, and he just walked away. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. Ive been to Toni & Guy, Aveda, Ulta and many others. I was just trying to support this little up and coming salon and was slapped in the face. I will never return there and I will tell Everyone I know how unprofessional, rude, and low class this place really is.

Great new salon on Cedar Springs. Kendall Coley is a great stylist. Darel McCurdy has a great shop here. Takes walk in clients. They do cuts, colors… all the bells and whistles. Their big grand opening party will at on Feb 16^th. I think prices vary depending on stylist and experience so you should call or ask first.
