This is mostly a gripe i have with the Valet parking here. I tried parking here. There was a spot upfront. I had asked politely if i could park there and pay the valet for it because i don’t like people touching my car. Ms. Robin Johnson declined. I had to pay for valet parking which is 5 dollars. I paid the valet lady Ms. Johnson. After i got my car back, it was clear that my change was stolen. There was pennies and dimes on the floor and most of my quarters were missing. This is very shameful behavior. I also got my parking validated. They then told me i still had to pay the 5 dollars regardless if i had it validated. This was not what they said as i entered.

What is there to not like about a place that saves your life? Of course I could go on about the difficulty with parking and the cavernous size of this place, but why? That would be the wrong focus. When I was diagnosed with cancer the second time, I knew I was going to undergo a stem cell transplant. I wanted to spare nothing and go for the gold champion in Cancer: MD Anderson in Houston. My sorry insurance wouldn’t cover that, so I was forced to stay local. I’m glad I did. The DFW metroplex has an under appreciated comprehensive cancer center in its midst, one of only 26 such designations nation-wide. What I discovered was there were few things others do that this place can’t do. They are amazing. Look up the history on this place, good read. The staff is excellent and I have nothing but compliments for all involved. Bottom line: you don’t have to leave the metro for top notch cancer treatment.

NOTE: This is a review of the CAFETERIA on the 3rd floor of the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, not the actual cancer center itself. I really hope that nobody is using Unilocal to decide where to get their cancer care! I very much enjoyed the Simmons Cancer Center cafeteria. I ordered a cajun chicken sandwich, couscous on the side, and a fountain drink and paid about $ 7.50. I really enjoyed the couscous and although the chicken wasn’t succulent, it was still a pleasant sandwich. I wish they were a bit more generous on the veggies and sauce, but it was decent the way it was prepared. The couscous is perfect as is. Loved it and was very surprised that a small cafeteria like this would have so many«salad» options. The facilities are clean and spacious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. One oddity is that the trashcan openings are too small for the styrofoam trays the food is served in. Addendum: There is a slightly more expensive cafeteria on the 14th floor that is more catered towards staff that serves basically the same kind of food, except there’s a better view and they bring you your food after you order. I ordered the Salmon Club sandwich with an order of sweet potato fries and I was completely satisfied. Was it worth $ 9.50? Yes, if you sit down, relax, and enjoy the 14th floor view(there are windows completely surrounding the cafeteria). If you’re taking it to go, it’s probably not worth the extra price.
