I’ve had much better vegetarian in other cities. The mock meats here were pretty terrible. We ordered the orange chicken, red curry beef, and the pad thai. — pad thai came out with wide, flat rice noodles(instead of the standard thin rice noodles). i’m not sure what sauce they used, but it definitely wasn’t pad thai sauce. and the saddest part is, this was the best dish we had. — orange chicken didn’t taste anything like(veggie) orange chicken should, and the mock meat had a very strange aftertaste to it. — red curry beef came out and the curry was. yellow. also, it had baby corn with the dish, and they were SOUR(pretty much came straight from a can and wasn’t even rinsed before being used in the dish) The drinks were OK, but we had so much leftover food and went home to eat something else. Service was fine, but the food was just too terrible to make up for it. Wouldn’t come back any time soon.

Yes! an all vegan restaurant in the heart of the city! They have a huge menu. I haven’t even come close to trying everything. I’ll tell you my usual is pretty Damn good. Singapore noodles, dumplings, and Tom kha, can’t go wrong. The inside is incredibly tiny, I usually get to go, but dining in is a fun experience. A little overpriced, but it’s hard out here for a vegan.

I’d give it a 5 stars if it was organic. But nowhere in their menu or their website have they mentioned organic. The orange chicken that I ordered was delicious! Soy chicken didn’t taste exactly like the chicken but the dish on the whole tasted very similar to its non-vegan counterpart. I didn’t order orange chicken wanting to eat healthy but I felt terrible after realizing I was chowing down on mouthful of GMOs(somebody tell me I’m wrong… please!) I want to go back to Sykamore. I love my pad thai, orange and kung pao chicken. Please make it organic!

Sykamore Vegan House is a cozy little restaurant located north of Deep Ellum. There is limited seating, which include a handful of tables and bar seating(without the bar). If you’ve tried the likes of D’Vegan or Loving Hut, then Sykamore Vegan House is right up your alley, serving up Asian fusion cuisine! The menu offers a variety of foods from wraps to rice dishes that include ‘beef’, ‘chicken’ and even ‘ham’. They also serve up smoothies! I was in a mood for curry and they offered several dishes from chicken, to vegetables with curry sauce to a curry potato wrap. I ordered the curry potato wrap and it did not disappoint! It was piping hot, made fresh! They served it wrapped up in aluminium burrito-style, and I went to town! The curry potato wrap contains curried potatoes, onions, lettuce and tomatoes and it was delicious. Having never been here before and wanting to try everything, I split the wrap with my boyfriend and he split his green bean garlic dish which contained fresh, crunchy green beans were smothered with sautéed garlic and onion, and came with a side of rice. ITWASDELICIOUS. If you have room for desserts they offer vegan cheesecake and one other option! You pay at the counter and you leave your dishes at the table.(We brought ours up because we didn’t know the process.) The prices were consistent with any other Asian cuisine. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was great! I highly recommend it!

Before I finished getting my baby out of the car, I saw an employee get her a high chair. They also brought her a sippy cup and an activity cube to play with. No one has given us service like that! She was happy, as was Mom and Dad. That alone is worth five stars. The water was infused w mint and cucumber. My husband and baby enjoyed the Mongolian«beef,» and I liked my eggplant. The two lunch specials, curry egg rolls and vegan chocolate cake was $ 25 and some change.

So happy to try this spot again and update my review! My first experience here was so-so(see review below), so this time I followed my own advice and stayed away from the«chicken» products and tried the noodles. If you look at the menu, they offer a wide variety of noodle dishes. I tried the Lucky Lo Mein and had a Thai Tea as well. The tea came out and it was perfection! Perfectly sweet and refreshing! This is a perfect beverage for summers here in Texas. It takes a little bit of time for the dishes to be prepared, but it was well worth it! Everything is fresh and is prepared right when you order it. The lo mein was great! The noodles were the perfect texture and flavor. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The tofu was perfectly seasoned and the right texture. I couldn’t have asked for a better dish! I really love the hospitality and helpfulness of everyone who works there as well. In the future, I may try another chicken dish, but I have my eye on the Pad Thai for my next visit! P. S. They have a lot of Vegan desserts… cookies, cheesecake, etc. Ask them to box up a slice for you to go… great stuff!

I’m torn. Part of me wants to give this a 1 star rating to scare all of you off so that I can have it all. But these people are so nice and the food, well. This place. Wow. The outside is nothing to look at. In fact, we ended up not stopping the first time we went to try it because we thought that surely we were in the wrong place. The second time, we stopped and went in. Where have you been all my life?! I really can’t describe the surprise when I took my first bite of the Mongolian ‘beef.’ It was amazing. It had a perfect balance of taste and I believe hands down tasted better than any actual Mongolian Beef I’ve ever had. Taste, texture, smell. Soooo good. My wife had the Broccoli Chicken and again, fantastic. We started it all out with the curry potato spring rolls and those were so very delicious. Even the water was delicious. Slightly citrus and spiced. We’re about to become regulars at this little place.

Ok. So this has been open for a year and I’m just hearing about it! Oh the horror! This all vegan restaurant is tucked in a street, on the corner but very well hidden. What used to be on old burger joint is now a gem for the vegan community in Dallas. I’ve always known not to judge a book by it’s cover, though Gordon Ramsay might strongly disagree with most of the physical appearance of this joint. Agreed Gordon, however I’ll take it! Tiny, not able to keep up with the ac inside on a hot Texas day, no ambiance at all. Just the good company you keep. Today I met a friend for lunch, she is a carnivore but trying to eat healthy & then of course myself. We both ordered juices. And both got the wrong juices, but alas they were good, healthy and fairly priced. I originally ordered the Lemongrass Chicken and my friend kept her order of the Malaysian Fried Rice. Once our table neighbors received their order I was overwhelmed by the aromas coming from a gentlemen’s plate and asked him what that was! OK — so I asked first, then immediately changed my order when I knew they had not already started my original one. So I ordered a Malaysian plate, the Sambal sweet potato with rice. Oh sweet baby… that is good. So good I would just about eat anything with that sauce cooked it! GETTHIS!!! I forgot to mention, but I also ordered their raw soup. Unbelievable. I’ll get that again as well. It’s not printed on the online menu, just onsite. It in itself had a bit of a kick to it! The fresh cabbage and cilantro on top made for a good, cooling soup in the Texas Summer. So, yes I’ll come back. It’s not close to home… But it’s a place that has an ambitious menu and lots of items I look forward to trying.

This is an awesome place to eat some delicious Vegan food that’s nearby CityPlace, and Baylor University Medical Center. As the only family member that’s a Vegetarian, I tend to introduce Vegan/Vegetarian cuisine to my family’s diet so that they can start expanding their palate. I brought my eldest teenage son,(BIG time meat eater), to try this place out with me. but, I didn’t tell him that this place was a Vegan restaurant,(luckily for me, he didn’t even notice it either since he was texting his girlfriend ;)). He ordered the Mongolia Beef Wrap, and a Mango Tango and I had the Jalapeño Pa Kee Mow(Extra Spicy). Let me tell y’all, I asked my son if he had liked his dish and with a BIG smile he stated that it was delicious and that he would definitely come back for more. As he was finishing off his dish… I told him that there was no REAL meat in his Mongolia Beef Wrap. The look on his face was priceless! LOL!!! He couldn’t believe that Vegan food could taste this good!!! He simply told me that if or whenever I would come back to this awesome place again… that I should bring him along to try more of their delicious food. Wow, how great is that?! That’s top notch if you ask me!!! Note: The parking at this restaurant isn’t that good. Y’all need to check this place out!!! :)

In a heavily occupied meat eating metro this café offers a refreshing atmosphere of flavors and vegan cuisine. We were greeted with a high degree of customer service, provided recommendations from the vast listing of delicacies and served excellent dishes. If you are seeking quality vegan food, a vast array of options and the service to match; look no further.

Good solid vegan Asian food and attentive, if somewhat quirky service. It’s in a truly nondescript little building near Baylor hospital. When I say nondescript, I mean so bland looking that it’s almost fascinating. The outside and inside did not look promising. We were pleasantly surprised when the food arrived. I’m on a vegan diet, so it’s a real treat to walk into a place where I could order anything off the menu and know it will be dairy and meat free. Luckily, it was good, too.

I had a great experience at Sykamore. I was in the area running errands and decided to stop by to pick up a to-go lunch. I ordered the eggplant potato lunch special, and added tofu to it for just $ 1. I mentioned to the woman who took my order that I was in a bit of a hurry(groceries melting in my car), and she brought my order out in less than five minutes! I was very impressed with the speed and service. I took the food home and found it to be excellent! Well seasoned, great flavor, not greasy at all. The rice that came with it was fresh tasting and scrumptious. And it was such a generous portion that I could barely finish it, which is uncommon for a lunch special. I will definitely be back, especially since it’s so close to my office!

This place is up there with Spiral Diner, which is saying a lot. As a vegetarian, I crave Chinese/Asian cuisine so badly. I usually can only have veggie lo mein at regular Chinese restaurants, so this place hit the spot. I could have anything on the menu, and everything we ordered was spectacular! The orange chicken was especially amazing. I hardly ever steal other people’s food off their plates(because I hate when someone does that to me) but I was all over my husband’s chicken. awww yeah. Now if they were to open up one of these in Fort Worth, my dreams would come true. Yum yum yum!

Great food! I have only been once but I will definitely return. This is a great little haunt for a quick, tasty, and filling lunch. They offered several lunch specials for $ 7.95 and I selected the curry potato. The dish came in a bowl and was served with a healthy serving of white rice. It was spicy and warmed my body on a cool March morning. !

I had the Black Bean Sauce Beef and a small Miso Seaweed Soup. I have to say, in my part time veganism, it’s hands down the best tasting I’ve ever had. I’ll be heading back for sure!

Dang. 51 reviews already, at the time I’m writing this? The place just OPENED! Well, I guess you can skip this review. I’ll add that the food is, in my opinion, really good! Dropped in yesterday for the first time. Was 11:15am and nobody was there except staff who greeted me right away. Here’s why I like them: they passed my «make me something awesome test». In other words, instead of looking at the menu, I just told them to make me whatever they thought was one of their best dishes. Restaurants who fail this test are the ones who say, «well… what do you like?» FAIL! You may ask no questions! Sykamore came close to failure here because the initial response from the lady was to point at every dish on their lunch menu and read them to me out loud. She got it, though, the second time around. And to their credit, I’m sure they’re thinking«generic white guy» will want something plain. I got a really excellent eggplant dish with sautéed vegetables and steamed rice. It was all very good but the eggplant was the star of the show. Wish I knew how to make it that way at home! It was succulent! The menu is pretty expansive. I’ll certainly be back to try many, many more dishes. Also, cool to have a Vegan place in East Dallas now!

Seriously, fellow Unilocalers– 4.5 stars for this place? For real? Jamie and I checked it out, with 4.5 star expectations. Here was our experience: –Arrived at 11:45am, almost an hour after opening. Floors getting scrubbed down with soapy water for over half the restaurant, to the right of the entry door. Want to sit at this table, right next to the scrubbing floors right now lady? No thanks– we’ll sit as far away from that as possible, in the high chairs by the window — Ordered veggie lo mein and orange«chicken», trusting fellow reviewers on the fake meat. Lo mein was a flashback to college cooking, prepared with the cheapest spaghetti noodles and veggies(celery, carrots, bok choy) one could source at the dollar store a few blocks away. It was cooked adequately, elevating bad ingredients to a fair meal. Orange«chicken» was centered on freezer burned«chicken» nuggets, fried to styrofoam texture, with the undeniable freezer burn finish on the palate, yummy. Like the lomein, these god awful ingredients were elevated in the chef’s hands to their highest level, a poor lunch entrée, sauced well and served with nicely steamed rice. If you like a nice variety of fresh, deliciously prepared vegan dishes, never eat here. Ever. Instead, go to Cedars Med Grill on Walnut Hill or Kalachandji’s on Graham, and have a nice vegan experience. If you like meat, you can get all forms of that too, mindfully prepared, at Cedars if dozens(30 – 40 choices) of perfectly prepared and spiced veggies is simply not enough for you.

I enjoyed my lunch at Sykamore Vegan House! I’m typically not fond of vegan faux meats, but these folks know how to do it well. The ‘Chixin’ Kung Pao was excellent and flavorful; truly didn’t miss the ‘real’ chicken. We tried both the Spring and Summer Rolls; the fried Spring Rolls were average, but the Summer Rolls great. Spicy Edamame was a delight, definitely will try at home with a chili sauce toss. I wasn’t impressed with the Green Cake, had a flavor slightly and oddly similar to cornbread(?); was dense, cold and not appealing to me. It’s a cozy place, don’t try to bring a group of 6+, but the service was prompt and friendly. Aside from the Green Cake, I can see myself becoming a frequent visitor at this ‘house’!

After 5 visits, it’s time to review Sykamore. Think SanFrancisco tofu dive at 11PM. Now, add seitan, travel east to Dallas, go for lunch instead, and you have Sykamore. Open for lunch and dinner, Sykamore is an Asian restaurant that specializes in only vegetarian cuisine. Wow, finally Dallas! I have made it my mission to come nearly every week, try new menu items, and post new pics for Unilocalers. This place MUST survive. The food served in this quaint shop near CityPlace and Baylor University Medical Center is thoughtful, flavorful, and healthy. When I dine on Sykamore, I feel good and my food tastes good. The parking lot is tiny, but can fit 2 cars(easy peasy on a weekday afternoon, since traffic is light). Otherwise, there is $.10 parking on the street. Not bad. What this unassuming restaurant lacks in flair, it makes up for in flavor and quality. Try it, and Unilocal about your experience.
