I first tried food from this restaurant while at the state fair. I drive from Frisco and would drive to this restaurant every day of the week. The best part of this place was the staff. The picadillo machete was so good.

The tacos were terrible. Some of the chips were undercooked. The salsa tasted bland. The tacos were terrible! And they can’t make a ham torta… Wtf?! Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.

Not sure about the recent review saying no one speaks English. If you ask me, that’s always a great sign of authenticity! We came the other day and were ready to practice our best Spanish, but were disappointed when the cashier told us in perfect English, «I will be with you in just a moment!» *joke* Anyways, I really wanted to love this place. Our main taqueria, Tacos La Banqueta, is closed on Sundays, and I had been wanting to try La Huasteca out. It’s catty corner to Fruteria Cano, a place I visit too often. We actually had to park on the side of Fruteria Cano because there was no parking at La Huasteca. Sunday afternoon was probably a terrible time to come. They were extremely busy! The food took a while, but we didn’t mind the wait. I got a large Aguas Frescas with watermelon($ 3), and it was delicious. While we waited, we got tortilla chips and two different types of salsa. Oh my goodness, their avocado salsa is to die for. Super spicy, creamy, and just perfect. First, our steak machete came out. For $ 10, it was priced kind of steep, but it was tasty. We both had tortas($ 5 each) as well. These were really lacking. There was barely any meat in it and too much bread. I ended up taking off a whole piece of bread and folding the other one in half around the meat. Then we waited, waited, waited. We finally asked for our tacos to go. When we got home to try them(we don’t live far away at all), they weren’t very good either. :( I will stick to my main taqueria for now, but I will definitely come back and buy a huge side of that avocado salsa if they let me! Also, don’t come on Sundays. I understand the wait time because the place was packed, and I don’t hold that against them. Minus two stars for food only.

First time here and me & my husband absolutely loved it. They remodeled & it’s very nice & clean. I love how unique everything is. The restroom blew me away! It has a molcajete as the sink! I have never seen that. Super clean and cute. The service was Fantastic. Fast & accurate and not annoyingly asking us every 5 seconds if we need something(I hate that). I ordered the chalupas and my husband had the lamb(borrego) we shared it cause it’s quite a bit. Also delicious. So that is all i have to say about this wonderful little gem. I will definitely be going back :) happy dining!

Food is pretty good but not consistent. We go on and off. My boyfriend and I usually get the burritos when we go. Sometime everything is on point. Lots of meat and cheese, avocados, lettuce, tomato, crema and onions. The rice is nice and fluffy and they have plenty of salsa. Then we’ll go a week later and order the same thing and get a totally different result. There’s an amount of meat equivalent to a taco on a burrito! No cheese, still lettuce and tomato but nothing else with uncooked rice. Really weird. When they’re good, they’re great but when they’re bad they are really awful. Good luck.
