Just saw the show at the Ruby Revue at the House of Blues in Dallas. This is not your traditional burlesque show. I have been to many shows in NYC, Vegas and Philly and was extremely disappointed in this troupe. The emcee was awful, he wore a tux and had absolutely zero humor or personality. The dancers were ok but not interesting. The only redeeming act was the deliverance number by the Gotham chick and the costumes/attire of dancers were extremely nice. Burlesque is about humor, song and dance and stripping. Where was the singing & humor. Overall this gets 1 star. Boring!

Following is the message that I sent to the Ruby Review contact portion of their website. Oh well they got their 50 bucks out of me and the bar got theirs too. I suppose they shouldn’t really care. I do want to add though that the entertainers are talented and beautiful young ladies that obviously spend countless hours staying in shape and practicing their skills. Message: I would like to comment about the show. My wife and I have seen burlesque in Portland Oregon, and we enjoyed it quite well, so we were looking forward to checking out The Ruby Revue in our hometown of Houston. We went last night with a friend and we were all disappointed in the show(as a whole). I love the roots of burlesque and how it has given women the liberation and freedom that is enjoyed today, however I just cannot support the ghetto M.C.‘s jabs at Christianity and her ignorant spewing of Spanish about Donald Trump. Burlesque classically involves some risqué humor and funny mockery and such; but to alienate specific groups of people that are paying customers at your show is bad business. There was another couple standing next to us that shared the same feelings. I believe she labeled it tasteless. I am obviously not just«uptight», I full and well knew what burlesque was when I bought the tickets; I just didn’t know that she,(the M.C.) didn’t. Stick to cute, sexual in nature, and flirtatious humor and you will do the right thing not only for your business but also for the women before you that made burlesque a classy, enjoyable show that empowered women and excited men and couples. Their carefully thought out reply: Greg, —— FILLINNAMEHERE, LOL. Thanks for the feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed overall with your experience at our show in Houston. We appreciate your input. — Ginger

Valentines Day was the perfect day to try something new, so as a part of my husband’s gift I got us tickets to the Ruby Review at HOB Dallas. The show was awesome! There were women on ice skates to acrobatics hanging from the ceiling. They couldn’t have picked a better host, because he brought comedy and sexiness to the show. The ladies were very classy and kept the audience on our feet. Visually, the costumes were immaculate! There were an abundance of acts that filled the entire time that we were promised. After the show we were invited to a 50’s after party that was really cool. Overall it was a terrific show! I just wish that more people(the audience) would have dressed in dressy attire and got in character.

Me and some of my sorority siblings went to go check out the show last night and it was pretty great! They have some really unique acts that indeed were entirely unexpected(Breakdancers? OPERASINGERS?!) that definitely made this show stand out among others I’ve seen in the past. I’ve seen people mention the number of tassles and the crassness of the emcee in this, and to be honest, I don’t know what people were expecting. Sex jokes and breasts are a huge part of burlesque. I’m knocking a star because lovely as they all were, some of the emcee’s jokes fell flat and there was essentially one stock bodytype in the whole show. I may be tainted as I watched Dem Damn Dames’ «Lord of the Raaangs» twice on the weekend and it might have put my expectations in the wrong place. (Unrelated to the show, but there was a bartender pouring a drink he wouldn’t name that was a delicious blend of pineapple, malibu, midori, and grenadine that a google search revealed Boozemixer calls it a «Lick My Pussy.» Highly recommended.)

Went to a show at HOB in Houston and it was much more of a strip show than a burlesque show. I didn’t care to see that many thongs and nipple tassels. Would have been good if they just kept it classier than a strip club.

Love you guys but will have to say goodbye until you get away from House of Blues. Reserved seating with blocked view, music issues, microphone issues, valet issues. The location makes it just not worth it.

I love burlesque and was very excited about seeing this show. Left early! The emcee is so disgusting we could not stay! Horrible! We saw very little burlesque, which is what we came to see. Very disappointing. It would be great of they would get a female emcee and perform more.

My husband and I went to this show as part of our Valentine’s Day celebration. If you have never had the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it. This show was A MAZING! We had so much fun. These ladies have truly perfected their art. This is not your classic strip show. You’d have to go to a different club for that. These girls come in all shapes and sizes and focus on the art of taking it off while entertaining and teasing while maintaining class and celebrating women’s softness and sensuality. Definitely not for the prude, as they do strip down to pasties and panties but no hard core raunch here. The emcees were funny and kept us entertained between performances. It is great to see how each lady interpreted her music and costume. Some were sensual and slow, others fast and funny. The venue was smaller than I expected but it was perfect for the crowd that was there. The chairs were a little close together so you couldn’t really adjust in your seat to get more comfortable but definitely worth it. We will be back.

The classes offered at Ruby Revue are fun and worth the time/money. This was my first time to venture into this realm. I am not a young chicken, but have found an outlet for fun and adventure that I hadn’t anticipated. No matter your age, the classes are open and accepting. I would DEFINITELY recommend Ruby Revue Classes… when I leave each week, my heart is warm and happy!!!

I went to a show a couple months ago and very impressed! Beautiful women, excellent venue, my friends and I had a blast. We wanted to go check out the show last week, but by the time we went to pick up tickets it was SOLDOUT. Great for them, unfortunate timing for us, make sure you buy tickets in advance and come ready for a good time!
