I really want to give the pig 4 or more stars. But they need to work on reaching out to the neighborhood to be a real neighborhood bar. Food is good, but pricey. Décor is divey. But the bartenders and the drinks are on-point

Here’s another gourmet restaurant disguised as a dive bar. The food is excellent. Sometimes they suspend entrée service and only serve sandwiches and burgers but even these are good. Lots of beer on tap. Geek trivia on Wednesday nights at 8:00. Worth the drive.

I love how they always have the Rangers game on when I come here. The food is really good and on Mondays they have half off wells which is nice. The waiters are delightful. It’s much more spacey than expected. I would give it a 5 if they were just a tiny bit more attentive. When I’m ready for the tab or wanna call for another beer I have to flag them down even though it isn’t busy but over all its a nice little place. I always come back.

Great local beer selection, great food and much better atmosphere than you would think judging from the outside. My new favorite bar.

This is 50% bar, 50% restaurant, 100% dive. The Cuban sandwich and poutine are amazing, and the fries are like none other! Glad we have this spot a chance. If you want to go somewhere that you can have fun, be loud(we played heads up at our table), and enjoy good food in a chill environment, this is the place. If we weren’t sober I’d love to belly up to the bar!

We like this neighborhood pub/bar. Bartender was delightful. Dirty martini was very good. We tried the fish and chips — so nice to get fish that is lightly battered instead of more batter than fish like many other places. Don’t know what the negative reviews were about. Interior was much more roomy than expected — actually liked it better than the Cock and Bull. There is a good selection of craft beer. Our friends really like their burgers, and the spiral cut fries are very tasty and fresh. Sure hope we can keep it in the neighborhood since it is so convenient and has quality offerings. Thought it was much better than most bars in New York City. There’s just something about a good neighborhood bar where you can run into friends and don’t have the hassle of driving a distance for a beverage and socialization.

Eclectic bar with a chill feel and to this point the food has always been good to great. Music selection is wide ranging and adds to the«vibe» of the bar and overall atmosphere. Would have for sure given five stars but only continuous problem is the beer list that is never properly updated and either beers crossed off in pen or just told they no longer have. Not a big deal but either have one and maintain it or don’t bother.

What a gem. Came on a Saturday night with about six people and had no problem finding a table. The bartender was promptly at our table passing out menus and making suggestions. We shared a cheese plate, flat bread and texas toothpicks(amazing). The band playing was jamming and it set up the perfect night. It’s casual and quaint and you can really focus on relaxing and hanging out. The service was good and the bartender was nice.

Food and drinks are good. But they let certain customers run the place. Those customers change the music from their phone and talk /laugh so loud it drowns out all conversation or thoughts you have. Shame could be a good place.

So I am retracting my earlier 5* review in the hopes that the owner sees and takes note. We have become increasingly disappointed with each visit over the last 2 months or so(& we are very regular as we moved just up the street). The place is becoming run down already, floor boards that had been missing for months then a huge messed up section of the floor by the bar. The methane gas smell is pretty much a constant now, the food quality which was once amazing is now VERY inconsistent.(Asher is an amazing chef who comes up with awesome menu items unfortunately the quality is just not there when he is absent. :(sorry, but the kitchen just hasn’t been doing his menu justice. I had read about the bug issue which we have now experienced ourselves 2 weeks ago., running across the bar towards our plates.(Not bloody ok) We really do enjoy our bartenders here and want so much to frequent the establishment but are really not feeling it anymore because of all the other stuff. Sidenote(a personal taste thing) also not a fan of the coverband thing you just started, we come there to hang and chat with friends which isn’t possible now, too loud -(oh crap, I’m showing my age aren’t i) Ok. Bitchfest over… Sean I feel that this place needs your attention and some changes to be made to improve the quality Re-build it and they will come… back

Gourmet food at a super friendly bar?! They do it perfectly. Started with the Linguini and Clams and had the Togarashi Filet for the entrée. So tasty. Clams were AMAZING! Filet was cooked perfectly! Zach was beyond awesome! As well as the rest of the staff! Can not wait to return!

Worst brunch experience of my life! First, the ambiance. The whole place is crazy dark despite insanely bright halogen lighting in the ceiling. Don’t sit anywhere facing the pool table or your eyes will be constantly trying to figure out whether to dilate or constrict because of the bright lights vs. the dark room. Disorienting. Second, the food. Oh my god, it was SOBAD. I ordered a salad, after asking the bartender(the only person working service in the restaurant at 1pm on a Sunday) whether it was any good. She said something like oh yeah that one is great. I asked if it came with greens or was just wild mushrooms and candied pecans and she assured me oh yeah it comes with salad greens, of course. So, on her recommendation, I ordered it, plus grilled chicken. The grilled chicken brought the otherwise $ 14 salad up to $ 19. I was expecting to be really happy with my choice given her rec as well as the price to ambiance ratio being so high. I was so wrong. It was so bad. I don’t even know where to start. The greens were literally shredded lettuce — like the stuff you put on a taco. The salad had 4 ingredients: shredded iceberg lettuce, 1⁄8 cup of sauteed wild mushrooms, 1⁄16 cup of pecans which were either not candied or someone there candied them and didn’t know how to do it properly, and 1 regular sized undercooked chicken breast. Even without the chicken, the salad shouldn’t have been $ 14. I ate a few bites and realized it was the most disgusting salad I’ve ever attempted to eat. I turned to the chicken, which was undercooked, but not super crazy gelatinous. In an attempt to be social and not a huge grump, I ate it, crossing my fingers under the table that my immune system would be able to overcome any possible food poisonous intruders. The only good thing about the whole brunch was that I did not in fact get sick after the fact, other than the sort of sickness you feel after spending $ 25 on a meal that you didn’t even really eat, and the waitress/server didn’t seem to give any shits that you barely touched it. Any good waiter/waitress/establishment should ask what the problem is when they see a full plate of food that’s clearly being neglected. The other folks at the table with me seemed generally nonplussed by their experience too. The food is too expensive, not good, and there were long delays between ordering and receiving food despite an otherwise empty dining room. Lesson learned — ask what kind of greens are on the salad before you order it.

Eek! Methinks not. I just can’t recommend this pub: the food was just not good and relatively expensive for theme and atmosphere. The service was also slow. I tried the fish and chips: For $ 16, I was extremely disappointed. At $ 16, this is pretty much the top of the price range for any fish and chips in the area so my expectations were very high. The fish was unbelieveably GREASY. I picked it up and oil ran out. It seemed as if it was dunked in oil after cooking, or oil that was not hot enough. I ended up running up to the bar to grab a 3″ stack of napkins to sob up the oil from the fish so I could eat some of it. I would have sent it back, but no one ever came back to the table to check in. The chips were so-so. The remoulade that the fish was served with was really good though. The calamari was good but had a strong bacon-y taste. I enjoyed it, but I imagine some might not despite the name of the establishment. The cuban was also just so-so. The pork was on the drier side and was not something I’d recommend. The burger was reported to be okay — but the patty looked like it may have been from a case of frozen patties. The atmosphere is great for the pub style, but the diverse menu ranging from $ 10 – 36 seems out of place. If those pricier entrees are anything like the fish or cuban you will be seriously disappointed too.

Went in on a Friday night for the first time. It was not crowded. There were lots of empty tables and chairs at the bar. Spent a total of 25 minutes, sitting in two different spots at the bar, trying to get the bartender’s attention, but were ignored. One of the spots was directly in front of her station, but being only a couple of feet in front of her did not help. We were never greeted, served, or looked at for that matter. Everyone else had a drink, menu, or food. It was like we were invisible. ODD considering it was not busy, and not exactly welcoming. Don’t understand the good reviews. We decided to go spend our money elsewhere. As we were leaving my husband spotted a roach on the bar. Dissapointing all around. We will not be back.

I’m giving this place 5 stars because I always have a great time coming in here. It’s never crowded when I come in and the bartender remembered me after only being in there once. Anyway let’s get to it… Beer selection is great and drink prices are very reasonable. The staff has always been awesome, but then again I’ve always had the same bartender. Now for the kicker… This is not BBQ as the name kind of suggests. The food is fantastic! Not ok or pretty good, but fantastic! So far I’ve had at least 4 things off the menu, and Brando Happy! The food may seem a little pricey, but only because they produce a high quality product. It’s imaginative and you should be pretty full after a meal here. Crazy thing is last time I was in here, they had lamb chops! Do yourself a favor and stop in here for dinner sometime. I’d be shocked if you didn’t enjoy it.

The Whistling Pig is in a strip shopping center about 5 minutes from our home. The windows are completely dark so it is hard to tell what kind of place it is. After passing it many times we finally stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. On the inside it is also dark, but in a cozy, pub type way with a center bar and tables lining the walls. It was about ¾ full which was nice because there were other people in the place, but it wasn’t so crowded as to be uncomfortable. The menu had a good range of options that included everything from sandwiches to lamb chops with several vegetarian options thrown in. The beer selection was also varied and included at least one non-alcoholic option. I had the bacon and blue cheese burger with the Texas toothpicks as my side. The burger was good with just the right amount of blue cheese and bacon. My husband had the lamb chops and they substituted potatoes for the vegetables that were listed on the menu as part of the lamb chop meal. All in all we enjoyed our meal and we will be back.

This is simply a good pub with good grub. Facility: This is not a fancy restaurant nor is it trying to be. It’s in the corner of a strip mall near a laundromat on Ferguson and Lakeland. The interior is very dark and the walls are lined with different cute piggies. I prefer sitting smack dab in the middle at the bar instead of at any of the tables. Because of the location, parking is a breeze. Food: I’ve eaten dinner here a couple times and brunch once. I liked most of what I tried. For brunch, you can’t go wrong with the pulled pork hash. It’s absolutely delicious topped with a lil Cholula. Pair that with a $ 5 Bloody Mary and you’re good to go! The Bloody Mary is a little vinegary, but good. They also offer $ 2 Mimosas during brunch if that’s your choice. Regarding dinner, I’ve had a couple entrees and tasted a friend’s entrée. If you love pork belly, do yourself a favor and order it here. It’s served with a side of cabbage and is so yum. Another time, I had the brie, spinach, mushroom sandwich but was not impressed. It was ok but boring and bland. I’d never order it again. You can choose from toothpicks(fried onion and jalapeño slivers) or fries with your sandwich/burger. Both are good. If you’re with a friend, I’d recommend picking one of each and sharing. I’ve tasted the Cuban sandwich, which was tasty and packed with pork; however, it is not a traditional Cuban. Drinks: The pig has a full bar and several beers on draft, some local. I usually go with whiskey or a beer. They make great classic cocktails so long as they have the correct whiskey. I ordered a Sazerac, but they didn’t have rye whiskey so I went for the Old Fashioned which was a good choice. The bartenders have always been chill and super nice.

I’ve waited a few months for this place to open and I finally made it by to check it out. First of all there’s a little back story. the owners also own Cock & Bull in Lakewood. so I expected a tasty menu and I wasn’t disappointed. Once I walked into the door, I realized the whistling pig is totally different. It’s wide open with a large U shaped bar that seats about 25+ people and a couple pool tables in the back. There is a lot of tables and several booths on both sides of the bar. The back patio isn’t open yet, but it’s coming soon. There is a internet jukebox for your listening pleasure. The menu has many popular choices for sandwiches and burgers. But how often can you go into a pub and order a filet or a rack of lamb? This place has it on the menu! This evening I ordered the brandy & cherry braised pork belly with purple cabbage. I have to admit that each bite was tasty & delicious. I damn near licked the plate. The staff is friendly and attentive. Most of them are locals, so you’ve probably will see a familiar face or two. Overall it was a great experience. One of the downsides is the whistling pig is missing that cozy feeling. It’s too new to tell what kind of vibe it will generate. But there’s a good chance you will see me there trying out other entrée’s on the menu.

I don’t think they’ve had their grand opening but they are open for business. I met some friends for a few drinks and can already tell this place should be a huge hit. The staff is extremely friendly. I wish I had been hungry but my friend’s entrees looked delicious. I look forward to updating this review very soon. I’m ready to go back!
