Beautiful eclectic shop and gallery of delights! A vast array of décor with every candle ever along with pieces that would make my current desk blush. I scanned the interior and found a little green sculpture which(as the owner informed me) had a lovely story coming from a Denton charitable group. They had a massive repurposed clothing room in the back that appeared very vintage and funky chic. They do work on parties/centerpieces and have some cool plans to expand and inspire more. There is a small art gallery in the front that rotates displays, how perfect! It’s a Dallas diamond in the not-so-rough. An absolute must for interior design lovers, Dallas enthusiasts, and the creative in all of us.

West dallas gem. Been here for four years and about to add some interesting additions. The owner, Nicholas Troilo, has been here for decades and has designed a beautiful shirt of the bridge.

This is my first review for anything other than a restaurant. But I had to put in the good word for this funky place. Specifically the unbelievable collection of sports t-shirts, sweatshirts and letter jackets for sale. And all are for sale for $ 8.00 -$ 20.00. They aren’t re-prints, they are originals being repurposed. I saw a Cleveland Browns 60’s t-shirt, an old USC letter jacket, an «Ernie and Bernie Show» tee from 70’s Tennessee, a sweatshirt from Cinncinati Moller HS, a «Throwin’ Samoan» tee from UWash circa 70’s and a varsity letter jacket from someone who played football at Cretin(MN) high school in 1983. This place also has a huge collection of Hawaian shirts, plaid grunge shirts and assorted OP shorts, jeans, etc. Check it out.

A friend and I discovered The Workroom after the Trinity River Levee Run last weekend. We just happened to notice it as we were driving past on Singleton, and the stylish looking exterior and gentleman relaxing on the patio with a coffee and newspaper intrigued us, so we turned around and parked in the adjacent lot on the west side of the building. «What is it?» we asked one another. «Is it a coffeehouse? «Is it a gift shop? «Is it a boutique? «Is it an art & design studio? «Is it a floral shop?» Turns out, the gentleman on the patio was one of the owners and he told us it was basically all of the above. He invited us in to take our time, wander around, have some post-run coffee, use their(clean, well designed) restrooms. Full of anticipation after this eclectic description, we made our way into this fabulous space. We were first greeted by a grouping of figurines and planters, mainly of white ceramic, at which she and I let out our typical«ooh“s, «ahh“s and«how-cute“s. We then made our way toward the fabulous shelves, displays and groupings of home décor and vintage dining and kitchen items. «My babysitter had a cookie jar just like that!» I exclaimed, «except this one isn’t chipped like hers was…» In the center of the first large space in the store was a station for creating flower arrangements. It turns out that not only will they make custom floral arrangements for you, but you can rent the space for an evening and create your own with a group of friends– I predict a girls’ night out in my future… Another room within the space was full of great vintage men’s clothing. I used all of my will power and talked myself out of a sweatshirt displaying my alma matter, though I *did* pose for a photo with it as a memento. After browsing the space with complete giddiness that there are others like me who dream of stores so multidimensional, we stood around the coffee bar like old friends and talked about developing this retail space during the economic downturn, before any developers were really seeing an opportunity in West Dallas, and all of the future possibilities as the Trinity Groves area develops. Turns out he and his partner put The Workroom together completely of their own accord. They financed it themselves, did all the interior design work themselves, do all of the acquisition of fabulous vintage treasures… They even kept their project a secret from their friends and acquaintances in the beginning, to keep nay-sayers from spewing negativity. Those Negative Nellies probably feel pretty silly now, because this secret is out, and I have a feeling with all of the West Dallas/Trinity Groves growth, The Workroom is going to be a legacy among those urban pioneers… I know it will be a regular destination for me, as I’m travelling through in search of that perfect something…

The Workroom is located @ a couple of blocks from the foot of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The Workroom is filled with Stunning Local Artwork, Fresh Florals, Antiques & Beautiful Interiors. Nicholas Troilo is The Proprietor. He’s a very interesting & talented Interior Designer, Artist, Event Planner, Florist… you name it, he’s perfected it. He’s Remarkable! The Workroom also hosts wine tastings, bridal showers, special events & art exhibits. The space is also available for lease for private parties /events. After talking to Nicholas Troilo, it’s obvious that The Workroom has been very well thought out, and it’s taken two solid years to make his dream a reality. Nicholas also designed the interior of Veracruz Café’ in the Bishop Arts District. Nicholas Troilo & his partner, Jim Wright, are defiantly Urban Pioneers. I really like The Workroom & Nicholas Troilo, and plan on visiting often! After The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is completed, I can imagine that the area around The Workroom will really explode with cool restaurants & one of a kind shops!
