My bestie and i ate here recently before seeing Shania Twain at the AA center. We’d never been here before and decided to give it a try. I’m glad we did! First of all, when we entered the place seemed pretty full. The hostess asked us to wait a moment to see if there was a table available since we had no reservation. I think we just got super lucky because she came back and said we could have the last open table. A sizable line had formed behind us so I felt pretty awesome about that! Once seated, the server arrived quickly to take our drink order. Not too long after we’d ordered food and were enjoying glancing around at all the lovely décor. I ate the ahi tuna, and it was one of the best dishes I’d ever had! Perfectly seared and seasoned. My friend had some kind of sandwich and said it wasn’t amazing but was very good. We paid our slightly high bill and left. Altogether, a nice place and I’d go back, but only for special occasions.

I’ve come here before to grab drinks before an event at the AAC. If you have people joining your party or if you are waiting for others, they won’t seat you. Which is extremely frustrating. The food isn’t that great either. I would go to another restaurant nearby that will serve you some beverages and food while you wait for your friends to arrive.

Was in a midday meeting nearby and decided to go to Victory Tavern afterwards for lunch with a couple coworkers. The reviews below are very mixed but we all liked the place. I imagine people have different expectations whether they’re here for a midweek lunch, dinner downtown, or drinks before a game… I had the French dip with au jus. It was very good– meat was tender, great ratio of melted cheese, bread was fresh, au jus was jus-y. Everyone genuinely seemed to enjoy their food especially the lady who ordered the chicken bacon sandwich if I remember correctly. I don’t think this is going to be my Saturday night dinner date spot but I would certainly come back for lunch or drinks and apps before a game. Go Mavs! Go Stars!

Slow service during with an empty restaurant. The lettuce was discolored the fries were cold. The sandwich was alright

I trusted Unilocal.the reviews are faily horrible. But I was joining friends that were already here before a comedy show at the AAC. I’m going to cut straight to the priorities– the bar is limited. They were out of or didn’t have the first three things I tried t order. I am by no means a prissy drinker– they should have basic beers and liquors. I even attempted to order one of their specialty cocktails and was told it would need to be modified because they didn’t have berries– should have raised a flag for me not to order any food from here. The apps we all shared were fairly decent– crab nachos, hummus, calamari. and fried mac and cheese bites. I wasn’t excited to eat any of them but they were edible. I opted for a grilled chicken salad that looked like heaven– spinach, butternut squash, pears, goat cheese, cranberry vinaigrette. Nope. Spinach and chicken was the only thing I was expecting and actually received. I had fennel and watermelon and a citrus dressing. when I finally flagged down the server– he was not readily available at all that night, even with the lack of diners– he just looked at me cross and said he would go check. I didn’t let him take my salad, btw. He came back eventually and said that those items were out of season and this was the replacement. Really? What if I was allergic to something in this«new» salad??? You were just going give me whatever the hell you had leftover in the back and assume I would be ok with it? He was not even the slightest bit apologetic and didn’t offer to changes it or let me speak with a manager. at this point everyone else was almost done with their food and I didn’t want to be late for our show. I ate the chicken and some spinach out and chalked it up to a lesson learned. Never again.

We went here last night before an event at the AAC, and I was honestly disappointed. First, when we walked in, it was busy but not packed, and there were several open tables inside and outside. The hostess insisted that it would be 20 minutes before she would be able to seat us. So, we gave her our name and stood right by the hostess station for 15 minutes and waited while she seated a few other people and made notes in her computer. When she finally seated us, the waitress was super quick and acknowledged that we were attending an event, so she would get our food and drinks out ASAP. It sure would have been nice if the hostess gave us the same courtesy! We had all looked at the menu online, but we were unpleasantly surprised to see that the burgers, sandwiches, and BBQ(everything under $ 20) were not on the menus we were given. The waitress said this was their«event menu.» So, we ordered entrees instead of the burgers we had all wanted to order. My $ 24 crab cake meal was a joke. ONE crab cake, a scoop of coleslaw, and a few fries. That’s it! Even Del Frisco’s doesn’t charge $ 24 for ONE crab cake! My husband said his pork chop was OK, but it wasn’t seasoned at all. The two things that were a hit with everyone were the mac n’ cheese, and the chocolate lava cake. We did leave our waitress a good tip since all of this wasn’t her fault.

The tea is a little different but has good flavor. They have little skinny tall glasses to drink out of. Started with the hummus which had really fantastic chips and came with cucumbers as well. Salmon salad was ok for the price, good portion for lunch. Beef and barley stew was pretty tasty, and the meat was tender. The food was decent and the location convenient, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

Used to love this place, must be closed down now? Showed up at 5 on a Saturday and the doors were locked. Chairs were on the tables and no one in sight. Guess they had a good run while it lasted.

I do eat here quite often. The staff is very nice. I do love the burger. If it’s a game night, be sure to come early as the place fills up very fast and there will be no room at the bar. If there is no game, you don’t need a reservation and can just walk in.

They have a great happy hour: $ 5 wines, $ 4 drafts, $ 3 bottles, half-priced appetizers(chicken quesadillas are spicy in a good way, crab nachos are good too). The staff is so incredibly flexible and friendly. We went after the happy hour was over, we were the only people in the entire establishment, and they extended the happy hour for us. The service really made the evening. TIP: Don’t be afraid to ask!

I thought the food here was ok. The restaurant and décor itself is nice however, and very convenient to grab a bite before an event at the AAC as it is in walking distance. I just wasn’t really impressed by the food I ordered because it wasn’t especially tasty. Still I might come back given the convenience and proximity of AAC to grab a quick bite to eat.

This place is okay. They get points for location and having my beer(Revolver Blood & Honey). The décor is well done. It’s definitely a classy place. I like the wood theme and the balcony seating is very cool(if you can get it). It can get crowded by the bar, especially during happy hour or anytime there’s an event at the AAC, which is literally next door. I’ve never seen the whole restaurant packed, but the bar gets that way frequently. The food is not bad, but it’s also nothing special for the prices they charge. I find the menu limited. I give more stars to establishments with more of a food selection. I’m easy enough to satisfy, but if my girlfriend doesn’t see anything that she wants out of the eight or so entrees and it was my idea to eat here, it doesn’t make for a fun dining experience for either of us. Bottom line — good drinks, decent happy hour prices, excellent location, but not my first choice for dinner due to a limited menu and so-so food. They do have an excellent wine selection too. I’ll be back. It’s not the worst, but it has a long way to go to be the«go to» classy restaurant of Victory Park.

I’d assume any place called a tavern would have more than four beers on tap. What a lame spot!

I’ve been here several times. We usually go here for dinner when we are going to an event at the AAC. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and wedge salad. My husband got the crab nachos and wedge salad. The salad was decent a little too much dressing but I’m not a big fan of soggy salad. The quesadillas were just okay, kinda salty. My husband said the he wouldn’t order the crab nachos again. The best thing about our dinner was the great service. The waitstaff are very attentive! I kinda wish this place served burgers. When I think of taverns I think of burgers. Next time I’ll try a different place near the AAC. But I will go back to victory tavern. The service is quick and it’s super convenient when attending an event!

I discovered this restaurant thanks to OpenTable and had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Our server was Mark who took our drink and food orders then was never to be seen again. Saw him three or four times the entire meal(we were in about 2:50 pm, left at 4:05 pm). Before our entrées were served, a guy in a chef jacket walked over and asked how the main meal tasted — without introducing who he was. Haven’t gotten it yet but appetizers were a great start. My family friend and brother chose the traditional turkey while my sister and I opted for the cod. Turkey was moist and tender, the cod was lightly breaded to give a crunch, and the vegetables on all plates were perfect compliments. Unknown chef guy returned, abruptly asked how the entrée was then disappeared again. Dessert was a perfect finish. My sister and I had the pumpkin pie with cinnamon whipped cream, my brother had the apple bread pudding, and family friend had the chocolate fig cake(ooey gooey chocolate deliciousness on the inside). I forgot to take pictures of our dishes but trust me when I say, we ate every last bit of it! All dishes were presented beautifully. Service was so-so. Beautiful interior. Probably because it was Thanksgiving, but I paid $ 10 for valet.

Not a bad spot to go before the game if you’re grabbing a drink. Not the best food though.

On the way home from the State Fair, we made some poor decisions on train timing and ended up with well over an hour to kill between trains. It’s okay, though! We’re at the foot of the AAC and surely we can find something to kill time. It’s been a day at the Fair, so we’re certainly not dressed well and we’ve already killed a good amount of money. Needless to say, The W and other Victory area places probably aren’t going to be good for us at this point. Victory Tavern, here we come. It’s pretty upscale looking at first glance. There’s a sports bar vibe from the giant TVs, but it’s mostly wood laminate and black lines. It’s actually a neat looking space, but not what I envisioned when I saw the name. Cool upstairs section looking down over the dining area, what looks like it might be a nice outdoor area as well. Okay. So, a little more high class, but they’re not turning us away. So far, so good. And pretty much the end of the good. The booths in the bar section are very close together. I knocked knees with the person across from me constantly. Feet under the bench and I’m still getting kicked. It’s just a tiny space. Small, high-priced menu and a four beer selection that’s also a little overpriced, but you’re in Victory, so this is the expectation. What wasn’t the expectation was that the service would be so slow and disinterested. It doesn’t matter how good or bad, cheap or expensive the place is. The bar section was mostly empty and we were the only table in the bar. Ten minutes or more to place drink orders. Another five or so to get four beers from the bar we were sitting next to. No checking back after that. We had to flag her down to get another drink and fries. She didn’t even cash us out. After almost an hour and only seeing her a few times, we got nervous that we’d miss the train just waiting on her to run our cards. She never came back, though, so we had to go to the bar to get the bartender to pay. We were never more than a stone’s throw away and my empty beer was almost always in her line of sight, but she just kinda ignored us.

My wife and I went to see Katy Perry last night. Whenever we go to a concert at the American Airlines Center, we always go to Victory Tavern for dinner before hand. The location could not be any more perfect, being right across the way from the ‘AAC’. The restaurant is very classy with everyone usually dressed for the event we are attending at the AAC. Dark woods and dim lighting, with TVs all around the restaurant. Also, a very large bar area, if you’re just wanting to get a couple drinks before the event. The dining areas are huge in this restaurant. They have an upstairs and a downstairs dining area as well as outdoor seating. So they are definitely ready for the large crowds that they get before and after events and I feel like they handle lots of people very well. We were disappointed to learn that the menu had been greatly reduced since the last time we were here. One of our favorite things on the menu was the burgers. They had a few different ones and all were very yummy. They also had fish and chips which has also fallen off the menu. Not sure if they were just out of these items last night, or if they have permanently removed them. But when we are going to a concert and especially a sporting event, we are usually in the mood for a burger or the fish and chips. So… that’s a bumber. We settled for some different things this time. My wife is very petite and it doesn’t take a lot to fill her up, so she ordered the chicken quesedillas off the appetizer menu. I settled on the Ahi Tuna with mixed greens & sautéed vegetables served with a ginger-lime dressing. My dish was excellent! The tuna was gently seared and served over a bed of warm vegetables, including broccoli, romaine lettuce leaves, and shredded carrots and radishes. The ginger-lime sauce was light and not overdone. My wife’s quesedillas were good also, but the tomato salsa and the guacamole appeared not fresh. In the end, our food and 3 beers came to $ 64.06. The service was very friendly and the kitchen was fast! Although my dish was excellent and the quesedillas were also good, I took off a star because of the reduced menu and the seemingly un-fresh sides that accompanied the quesedilla dish. We will definitely be back, but will be looking forward to the menu we have come to love.
