Umm… excellent. Good service and great selection of drinks. Just wish it was a little bigger

Hidden gem of Dallas. Staff is friendly and attentive, they make solid drinks. Mixed bunch of folks here, but you soon get to know everyone because it isn’t a big place. Drinks aren’t expensive and they have a pretty impressive liquor selection. Will be coming back for more drinks.

Off the beaten path and I’m new to the area. I walked into this place a few times and joey is always behind the bar slinging decadent drinks to the crowd! Great karaōke nights and cheap drinks. Nothing else you could possibly ask for in the area! Props to the ownership of the windmill! You’ve earned a spot in my heart!

Went here to see Zia from The Dandy Warhols /Brush Prairie do a DJ set as DJ rescue. Checked a few reviews and heard the bar won best dive for the pet few years, and I can see why. It’s amazing. Great service, great cold beers(and well priced) — the cocktails are what were the best. We had a chat to the owner who was just a beautiful person. Had a shot with the bartender who made a great mix. Will head back here every time I come back to Dallas.

Ok spot to get a drink… bartender wasn’t the friendliest and drinks are quite small for what you pay for Not sure I’d return

Dive bar with a good jukebox. Seems like a place to get wasted at rather than enjoy a nice cocktail. Don’t care to come here again bc I prefer great cocktails over the scene, and Dallas has a lot of bars much more worthy.

Great divey place, astute and experienced bartenders, highlighted with friendly and eclectic crowd. This is a regular for me. The Thursday karaōke is a great night out! As are the nights they have deejays come in…

The boyfriend and I hit up Windmill early on a Saturday night, around 10PM. The bouncer was friendly, which is always a plus. The bar itself is not that long, so getting to the bartenders is a trick, even when it’s emptier. The cocktails were fantastic! Two and I was feeling gooood. Boyfriend was not super happy because the beer selection was lacking, but he was happy with his cocktail. I loved the vibe of the place and would definitely return with a small group of friends to catch up. It’s the perfect place to start off a night or to just chill and chat.

«So you want me to go to a bar that’s in an old Dairy Queen?» That was my skeptical question when a friend suggested Windmill Lounge. I did the requisite Google Street View and I was both intrigued and concerned. «Trust me, you’ll love it,» she said. Never one to disregard the opinion of a lady, I hopped on my motorcycle and set off. I didn’t bother to look at the exact directions — she assured me that the glowing windmill would be easy to spot. From the minute I walked in, I knew I liked this bar. When I opened the door, the bright light flowed in, momentarily distracting the regulars and other guests. Everyone seemed to glance back at the door, but not in the judgey way you might expect. I walked to the bar and ordered a whiskey neat, which the bartender made with aplomb. We chatted until my friend arrived. Overall, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere was a dive in the best sense of the word. There was nothing pretentious or Uptown-easque here. Just a great bar doing its thing. I enjoyed the jukebox and convinced the bartender to «make me something awesome» after I was a few cocktails into the evening. He didn’t disappoint and made me a great whiskey drink(remembering my first order). Overall, this is a great local spot that I wish everyone would visit, but secretly want to keep hidden on the off chance that the vibe might change. Don’t ruin my bar! I’ll be sad!

This is the quintessential«where everybody knows your name…» bar. Walking into The Windmill(or lovingly called«the mill» by many) you feel as if you are walking into a reunion even if you were here last weekend. The eclectic scene can run from the Uptown elite, to Medical District students and staff, to Oak Lawn denizens, to quirky — where DO they come from?! regulars. This is a true bastion of diversity and acceptance. The juke box has awesome tunes. Karaōke Thursdays are a blast. The drinks are awesome cold and reasonably priced. The owners and staff are super accomodating. Come join the party, sit out on the street-side patio, have a tuaca shot and before you know it, everyone will know your name.

The Windmill… There are not enough words to describe… Everyone here is so friendly and the drinks are top notch. An awesome end of the day I need a drink bar!

I would literally drive by this place everyday headed to work, thinking that it was a old abandoned building that hadn’t been torn down yet. I’ve recently befriended a lady that lives in my apartment complex and she invited me over to The Windmill for a drink or two on a Thursday evening. So we literally walk across Maple Ave and I open the door and I’m suprised at what I see… A real dive… This place makes me reminisce of the two years I spent living in Detroit. The bar is very cozy and well stocked. I noticed that they carry alot of hip new beverages such as Maker’s Mark and Bulleit Rye Whisky. The older man that is a bar tender makes a hell of an old fashioned. Quite possibly the best one I’ve had since I’ve lived in Dallas. They carry Revolver Blood and Orange on tap and a few other really great beers. This is a becoming my go to neighborhood bar. They also have a cool jukebox with a bunch of different types of music. They get a pretty wide range of people that come through here. this place is like the Medical District’s version of «Cheers». Everyone is friendly and it’s a very down to earth establishment. Definitely will be back!

Came here for the special ramen night and man it was a lot of fun. A cozy bar full of good people that chose to serve good ramen on the special occasion? what’s not to love?

Cool Chef hangout place. The bartender was awesome and I let him make whatever he wanted to make me. He came up with a summer whiskey drink. Wow, I wasn’t disappointed.

OH, THEWINDMILLLOUNGE. Is this a dive? I don’t think so. Maybe just a casual bar? When I think of dive, I think of Single Wide or Lee Harvey’s. Whatever it’s categorized, it is awesome-sauce. They have an open patio in the front that allows animals. When I say animals, I mean dogs — don’t bring, like, a snake or something. Thursday night is karaōke night — and they play whoever is singing through speakers outside. You can pet your dog AND join in the hilarity. Drink specials are happening all the time. We got top shelf liquor for under $ 10. The BEST part is the clientele. Man, oh man, lemme tell you. Since it’s in Oak Lawn, you get some gay patrons — but the AWESOME kind. You also get some laid back people just out to enjoy a drink. There are old folks enjoying themselves. There are psychics/movie producers — this happened, y’all. Overall, the characters that frequent here are better-rounded than your regular set of friends. You get SUCH an eclectic group of genuine people! SO. MUCH. FUN.

This place was exactly what a lounge was supposed to be: dark/dimly lit, low level of noise, randomized mix of people enjoying one anothers company, and strong, delicious drinks. I couldn’t find the menu there that was posted on Unilocal, but they had an extensive drink list that the bartender executed delightfully! They apparently have happy hour until 7, where it’s $ 1 off each drink. Not a great happy hour, but if you went with ANY of their manhattan’s then it would make it $ 7.50−9.50 for one, which is actually pretty good. I had more girly drinks like a vodka/strawberry nectar/sparking wine confection and a gin and crème de violette one in a chilled champagne glass. Both were marvelous! They also have food items so we got the nachos all the way, which cheese sour cream, pico de gallo and taco meat. at $ 7 it was totally worth all the luscious calories and fat to go with our alcohol. Such a chill vibe — we’ll hopefully be back soon!

Not sure what the big deal is? The product on the back bar is limited. The restrooms need help. The patio is badass. Except for the drunken insanity and chain smoking people I watch out for and make a mental note to leave before they do so I know I will not be caught up filling out an accident claim form. It is just a little dive bar. If they had a better selection… then yeah awesome, I would return. But when the bartender wants to use sewer water for gin… NOTHANKS. If I am ordering a negroni… I think a good quality gin is in order… please do not insult the best 3 equal parts on the planet.

I really liked my first visit to Windmill Lounge. I only wish it were closer to home! The waitress/bartender was extremely nice, funny, and did a good job making the drinks and managing to clean the entire bar while keeping all the patrons happy. It’s a bit off the beaten path — being up near UTSW on Maple, and was pretty dead during happy hour on a Friday. They actually do run their happy hour every day, and it includes an assortment of low key specialty drinks and $ 1 off wells. A cuba libre will run you $ 3 at happy hour, and is served in a thin tall juice style glass. For $ 6 you can get a double tall in a regular huge soda glass. Their outdoor patio(in the front on Maple) has maybe 4 – 5 tables and a bunch of chairs and umbrellas to keep you out of the hot sun. There are some carpets down under the tables to make your legs happy too, but you will need to actually get up and go inside to get your drinks. Small price to pay. Big parking lot in back just North of the bar itself on Maple.
