Woodys isn’t my favorite bar on the gay strip. I don’t know why. The bar is fairly clean and has an outdoor patio that overlooks the street. Everything is somewhat ordinary and standard here including the bartenders. Supposedly it’s the gay sports bar, but mostly that entails the gay sports clubs hosting fundraiser party’s here. They don’t serve any food and televisions play top 40 videos mostly but if a major game is on, it seems like they show it. Drags shows and karaōke nights seem a bit random and unformed in an attempt to capitalize on every possible bar gimmick. The bar is really never packed and the crowd can be as generic as the bars own personality. This bar used to be called Moby Dicks when it first opened in the 90’s and perhaps it reached its zenith at its inception. I always feel a little empty when I come here, which feels more appropriate in a dive bar or an Embassy Suites hotel. Every time I go a have a couple of drinks, and when a feeling of completion never arrives, I try and quickly move on to another destination. It’s like a boring trick that you never make it to second base with.

Fun, fun, fun!!! Great service and cocktails! LOVE Steve in the upstairs bar, and cutsy bartenders below! I love having such a fun, non drama place on the strip!

Its cool here if you want to get a drink before you hit the club up. Note, I was probably the only straight guy in this place at the time, but I felt comfortable and the bartenders already know who is and isn’t… so don’t worry. Just have some drinks and have a great time with your friends. Great place with a great vibe.

Came in for the first time and was immediately greeted by drunks yelling who were clearly over served while the bar staff continues serving them and laughing about it. Real professional. Secondly the drinks were crazy expensive versus other bars on the strip. $ 9.50 for a well vodka and redbull? No thanks. It gets two stars for a nice upper deck patio.

I recently started coming here because a good friend of mine started working here. I have to say that I have found the only bar on the Strip that I actually enjoy. The crowds are always friends and the service is always top notch. None of that Dallitude you find in most the bars on Cedar Springs.

Stopped in during the pride parade this past weekend. The entire staff was super friendly. We got drinks at both bars(upstairs and downstairs). The gentleman working in the middle downstairs was very efficient. He even remembered us from the night before even though it was pretty busy. There were two bartenders working at the upstairs bar: unfortunately we picked the wrong one to go too. One was practically running laps around the other and being social while doing it; ours just couldn’t keep up. The patio was a great place to check out a portion of the parade. There were fans with misters set up to keep people comfortable while watching. Definitely an awesome place, and I will be back next time I am in Dallas.

The interior of this bar feels a bit poorly designed and dull to me, but the staff is friendly and they do a great job at hosting a good variety of nightly events. My husband and I recently discovered Showtune Tuesday and have since returned weekly. We get our drinks from Dillon, who is always outgoing and inviting. Drinks range from average to pricy, but the pour is usually pretty generous from all of the staff. I also appreciate that Woody’s offers private parking, as parking on the strip can be a hassle at times.

Visiting from Phoenix(enough said) the bartenders and the people were very nice here… It wasn’t very packed for 10pm but it’s a nice place and I enjoyed the upstairs patio with my margarita… The men here were very different, and I felt pretty feminine but I loved it… One of the bartenders was really nice and we talked for a bit, such a good guy. I hadn’t been to the Dallas gay scene so I tried to visit every bar with an open mind and I enjoyed this one… :)

So, the thing is that it really sucks to be a straight girl alone in this bar, waiting for your friend to show up. Because you have no social currency and will be left watching the very strange dance music videos(a woman shooting fire out of her vagina at an Obama look alike is something that actually happened on film, if you were curious). The karaōke here was sort of a sad affair — there were only a couple of people, so you got to hear the same sad singers over and over and over again. I like getting to sing fairly often when I do karaōke, but not every third song. Even I get tired of my own voice at that rate. It is a nice clean bar that has a nice clean ladies room(a rare find!), so that’s a good thing. With no dancing and karaōke that doesn’t come close the experience at the Round Up, there’s not a whole lot of appeal for me. However, it seemed like the mens were having a great time and that’s really what the bar is about. Also, randomly, there was a small buffet of food. And who doesn’t like free food?

a 2 story bar with a patio out the second floor as well as multiple bars. Downstairs was packed to the point where I had to push my way through to go upstairs, this isn’t a bad thing, I like a packed bar more than a ghost town bar. They had a video bar upstairs which played music videos to various remixes of your typical gay bar artists which was mildly entertaining. The bars both upstairs and downstairs were easy to get to. When I drink at bars I only drink shots so I can’t comment on the quality of mixed drinks etc. but the prices are on par with other bars. The enjoyed the patio on the second floor, I’m a fan of patios off of the street especially at a location like this. Makes for great people watching. The patrons were well behaved and didn’t smell like ass [I’m looking at you Dallas Eagle!] I can see why people enjoy this place. There are very few bars that I would say I would go to again as I’m not a bar guy but this is definitely one of them.

Among the various bars along Cedar Springs, this might be in top 3 favorite. The two story bar is less ostentatious than what the exterior would portray. A cozy bottom floor with a wrap around bar and a pool table make for a fun environment and great greeting area. The second floor offers a wonderful wrap around balcony with views of Uptown and Cedar Springs from all angles. Though, I had my drinks paid for, their Greyhound was strong and delicious — made with real grapefruit juice, not the crappy canned sugar water. I can’t wait to return!

Just an OK video bar with reasonable drinks. They do singing and socializing here. There’s also pool tables but it’s a bit crowded. The staff are pretty nice.

Went here on a Saturday night a few weeks ago and really liked the spot. The upstairs patio is really nice and the upstairs bar had almost no wait. The drinks were made with a generous pour and the dart board next to the bar was seeing alot of action. The bartenders were friendly and attentive and seemed to be having a good time. The TVs were all playing music videos-most of which I hadn’t seen-and the volume was at just about the right level. All in all a pretty fun place to spend some time on your rounds-I will return.

Gayborhood bar. It has a Sports bar feel with a gay bar twist. So lots of preppy jock types and I spotted a few admirers however on this one particular occasion they were playing a video throughout the whole bar of Andrew Lloyd Webber Musicals and EVERYONE was singing. Yes, including me through the belly laugh that was inaudible from the music and singing. I am sure this is not typical, however I do believe that pretty much sums up the tone of this place for anyone needing to be with their people.

I joined a volleyball league that is primarily homosexual, the volleyball season kickoff was here where they were announcing teams. This place got packed! Since it was more of a specific event I can’t speak to how busy it normally gets but I would suspect that it could draw a crowd easily. They had a good crowd, friendly bartenders, sports and music videos on the tvs and played dance music the entire time I was there. Downsides for me were is that I hadn’t heard of most of the music(not all bad though) and that it’s a gay bar and I am not gay. I personally enjoy the more relaxed chill environment with a mix of all people. I parked on the street but there was apparently a free lot right around the corner. This place has a balcony for nice night as well as two bars, one upstairs and one down.

I love this place! Woody’s is an awesome bar to watch football. I have been watching the Dallas Cowboys games here for years. It’s great with your group of friends. Always a great time. Cheap drinks and great company. You could check out the boys on the first or second floors. Yes, Kiwon make the best drinks in my book. The bartenders here are so cute. Kiwon are so funny. We have so much fun with Matt while he’s working. He also sings as well on Karaōke night. They have pool tables and it’s great playing when your drunk but all in fun. They have big LCD Screens to watch the latest dance music and sports videos. I would recommend this bar if you are a sports fanatic. You always have an awesome time here with the friendly staff, cheap drinks and all the boys in town that come in to have a drink. Great for friends and visitors.
