Kool Smiles

My son has been a patient at Kool Smiles for a number of years now. We used this dentist because they were the only place in town that accepted his dental insurance. We absolutely despise this facility. My son had to have braves about a year and a half ago due to a small pallet. The last two visits Kool Smiles had refused to clean his teeth unless I take him to the orthodontist to get the wires removed. This means a trip to the orthodontist 45 minutes away then back to dentist, then back to orthodontist to get wires replaced. Kool Smiles states that the wires have to be removed due to a tarter build up on the bottom row of teeth. Now my son has a power chain on the bottom row of teeth which makes cleaning them good extremely difficult, but my son had not had a cavity, our even the hint of a cavity since he was five. He is now thirteen. I don’t buy that the wires from his braces have to be removed before they can clean his teeth. Even his orthodontist states that the dentist should be able to clean around the wires.
Aside from the fact that this facility refused to clean my son’s teeth, they treat their Caucasian patrons differently than the Hispanic patrons. They tend to make you feel like your not doing a good job as a parent because a thirteen year old boys braces have some tarter build up around them. The customer service is horrible, and the overall feel of the place is not clean and very uncomfortable. We will never use this facility again. I am completely finished with Kool Smiles! To put it simply, they ain’t cool. Oh and I didn’t want to give them a star at all, but couldn’t post unless I reviewed.
