The food here is still excellent, and the young people who service the tables are very friendly and efficient. My favorite item here is the Hot Tofu Soup(extra-hot). I had the #1 tofu with beef choice and it was superb – a 5 start item in my opinion. We also had a maki roll thing(can’t name it) that was excellent. But I took away one star from my previous 5 star rating. Why? Well, it has nothing to do with the great food here. The problem is that the men’s bathroom was a filthy dirty mess! Somebody should see to it that the bathroom is kept clean. To make matters worse, the soap dispenser near the sink was empty except for about 2 drops of soap that came out of that thing, and before leaving THAT bathroom, you need plenty of soap! To be fair, this place is a super market, not a restaurant; however, because there is a restaurant in the market, the bathroom should be as clean as a restaurant bathroom is expected to be. Final score: 5 stars for food, and PHOOEY for the men’s room.

Lunch Specials $ 9.95 for tofu soup $ 12.95 for bibimbap $ 8-$ 10 for BBQ dishes This little restaurant is located inside of Kukje Market. They offer less bonchon dishes than other restaurants but maybe because I only come here for lunch. I never had to wait in line to eat here which is maybe why I come here so often. The food comes out fast and the quality of it is A+! I can never say no to this place unless its for dinner. Dinner prices are a little high, probably around $ 15-$ 20 a person. After a good lunch you can walk around Kukje Market and shop and burn some extra calories.

Let me get this cleared up first — THISRESTAURANTISINSIDETHEKOREANSUPERMARKETKUKJE! Boy this confused the hell out of me until I realized this restaurant has the same address as the supermarket! In my opinion, they should rename Cherry Maki & Sushi. First of all, they don’t really make all the sushi that’s printed on the menu. In fact, they only make TWOKINDS. The bento box we had one time was also unimpressive. This is really a Korean joint — a small area of tables tucked away at one end of the supermarket — some might say it’s a hole in the wall. Now that we got the above straighted out… guess what people, this place has AWESOME Korean food! Get yourself a sizzling plate of BulGoGi & BiBimBop and you’ll be a very very happy person. Insider tip — they also have food ready made & packed just off to the side so if you’re looking to save a few bucks(because Korean food is always a bit on the pricey side), grab a pack of Korean sushi rolls or JapChae to supplement a sizzling plate of BulGoGi and you’ll still be very happy AND with more money in your pocket :) Their portions are generous so you need not worry about being hungry after your meal. The best part is, you can shop in the supermarket afterwards!(I love being efficient.)

Korean restaurant in a Korean supermarket. It’s really small part of the supermarket. Probably good for 40 people or less, but don’t expect anything special about this place. Maybe the ingredients are delivered fresh by the supermarket, but it’s simply like any other Korean restaurant with the usual fare of Tofu soup, Bul Go Gi and Bimbibob. What I like about this place is how the Bul Go Gi came out sizzling on a hot plate with plenty of sweet sauce. Plus, it’s stacked high and it’s good for three at least. The side dishes aren’t as diverse as other Korean restaurants that I know of in the city. The tofu soups are very… tofu satuated. I ordered mine with medium spicy and I was surprise that despite the redness, it wasn’t that spicy. Either way, it was generous with the tofu. This is a good Korean restaurant to dine in, especially when you can good through the supermarket later for desserts.

It’s a hole-in-the-wall at the Kukje Supermarket. But, they do serve some mean, piping hot Korean tofu soup. Along with all the little side dishes before you get your soup. I love the Mushroom one. I’ve had their sushi as well. Pretty decent for the price. I tried their sashimi salad once. Don’t get it. It was a big mistake — stick to what they do best, which is the tofu soup.

If you try looking for this place while you’re driving around, you might be confused because there’s no visible signage from the street view. Well… that’s because this place is located INSIDE the Kukje Supermarket. It’s kind of a weird vibe, not necessarily the most pleasant atmosphere or service, but thankfully the food is delicious. I HIGHLY recommend the tofu soup. I really love how the food comes out piping hot(almost dangerously so). As far as I know, it’s Daly City’s only Korean option.

This restaurant is real easy to forget when you are thinking about where you want to eat. It’s located inside the Kuk Je market… which I don’t go to very often after it moved to Daly City. After coming here for the first time in four years, I don’t think I’ll ignore this place ever again! I love the fact that you can choose either Korean or Japanese dishes… two of my absolute favorites. Not only do they have the tofu stew and bbq meats… they also have the traditional korean noodles too. For the Japanese items, only about ten rolls to choose from along with your typical bento box items. My sister and I ordered a combination tofu stew and three rolls(tempura roll, california roll, and rock n’ roll). The tofu stew was a little over $ 9…which I think is a bit overpriced compared to other places I’ve been to. It was good, but there was so much tofu that the soup was all soaked up. As for the rolls, they are HUGE! The tempura roll was around $ 7…but it looks like two rolls when they bring it to you. The california and rock n’ roll came out six pieces each… but they were very fat! You get full pretty quickly here. The only problem with the sushi is that they put a lot of that sweet unagi sauce and hot wasabi sauce on it. Personally… that’s how I like to eat my sushi. But my sister thought it was too sweet and she wasn’t feeling it. We had a lot of sushi leftover… spent $ 28 before tip. I like the service here because they are really nice and quick with everything. AND… I forgot my keys on the table. The waiter walked around the market looking for me and eventually found me when I was looking at the stationary on the other side of the market. SONICE!

Good tofu soups — not terribly salty like how most of the other places do it. Thumbs up!

Love: Hidden little restaurant inside a korean supermarket. There is a bit of authentic feeling to eating some korean inside a korean supermarket. Food is all around decent. Good variety. Loses points for: Prices are can be a little steep. Chance to look stupid because you’re standing waiting in a queue in a supermarket for a sitdown restaurant. Food is just good, not orgasmic or heavenly.

I mentioned factors that can take away from a meal in my last review. Here is my case in point: I really do enjoy the tofu here: good flavor and right amount of kick for their spicy(as opposed to mild or hot) selection. The kim bob and bi bim bop are also winners. The only down point is that the service can be shitty at times. But what can you expect when a tiny place with limited servers gets overcrowded? I guess an apology for missing your order might be fair. What would even be better would be for them to comp the forgotten food. It’s too bad I couldn’t rate this place higher since the food deserves it. But sometimes there’s more to making a place good to eat than just the food.

They have amazing tofu soups at reasonable prices. They are exactly what you need on a cold day. It warms you up and satisfy your craving for korean. I love the side dishes that they offer. Small little plates of complementary food excites me. I try to eat them quicly when they come out so I get a refill before my tofu. You should definitely come for the tofu soup. Everything eles on the menu is alright. The korean bbq tends to be on the sweet side. And the sushi is not as bad as people make it out to be but its not the best. The service depends on the waiter/waitress. My favorite is the guy who looks like Hiro from Heros.

After Imperial Spa, I really wanted Korean food. Plus, someone had been talking about kimchee on the 4th and I couldn’t get it out of my head so we headed to the restaurant inside Kukje. I had the champong and it was surprisingly good. And huge. There was a lot of seafood in it and the broth had the right amount of spice so I got a little sweaty. The kimbap(or kim bob as it appears on their menu) was tasty, too. I’d eat here again.

For me, it’s the Bi Bim Naeng Myun, Spicy Cold Buckwheat Noodles. There’s some hard boiled egg and some slices of cucumber skin, the rest is sinus clearing goodness. Use the scissors to slice up the noodles before you start eating. They are pretty long and have a unique slippery texture. Ask for the hot mustard to take it to the next level… just go easy, This mustard is stronger than wasabe. You also get their small plates of sides, including some really good kim chee Their tempura is also very good.

Wow! I think everybody has said enough about their Tofu Soup, but that doesn’t stop me. My best friend introduced me to this little restaurant inside the Korean Supermarket. I’ve seen it before while shopping at the store, but never dared to dine there. It was weird at first. I love how they give you like 6 white plates of samplers/appetizers(all for free!) and give me the whole Korean vibe. I think that was the first time I had kimchee(sp?) I always loved seaweed salad, and their fishcake is yummy. So my best friend always orders the Tofu Soup, and I did too because I love spicy food. I didn’t have any specific expectations, but I was ready to indulge in some spicy soup. We never use the raw egg, and I don’t know why either. The warm bowl of rice is a great addition to the soup. This was a great place to eat after the devilishheadacheful SAT too! The Tofu Soup drained out all my stress. I stick to the mild Tofu Soup and never regretted it. I will be back very soon. Please don’t not come here for the sushi and then write some low rated review for bad sushi. Yeah, this place has the word«sushi» in their title, but that isn’t what this place is about. It’s all about the jjigae, soon doo boo, gook and tang baby. I went with the pork soon doo boo, medium spicy. Eugy went for the yu keh jang, medium spicy. Both soups were DAMNGOOD! Seriously, my soon doo boo was really tasty. They don’t give a lot of banchan, but what they did give was really good. Prices are ok. A little pricey if you ask me, but nothing outrageous. Will definitely be back here.

Enticing little food place inside Kukje Korean supermarket that reminded us of the little food place inside Hankook in Sunnyvale. Cherry offered precooked goodies that you can take on-the-go with you or you can sit down and eat there too. We got some of the prepackaged items: — Fried Korean chicken wings($ 5) — 3.75 stars –good deal and reasonably flavorful. $ 5 got you a package of about a dozen wings. — Japchae(Korean noodles)($ 4) — 2.75 stars — you got a fair amount but these were underaverage and salty. I tasted more soy sauce than anything and it was missing the usual flavors in japchae. — Kimbap(Korean rolls)($ 3) — didn’t try these. Interesting that they sell kimbap prepackaged and so does the supermarket if you walk down the aisle. I happened to try the supermarket one. Bottom line: Good deals overall. Wings good, kimbap to try next time, cannot recommend the japchae.

Cherry Maki and Sushi? What the FXXX? Are you kidding? It sounds very Japo-porn, don’t ask me why. Yah, they are«Suke-Beh» too, you know. I didn’t know that was the name of this place even though I have been here for many times eating Korean stuff. Because this place is inside of Korean Market«Kukje». Kukje is a great supermarket. So, I just read Euge and Ken K’s reviews and found out. But, I am NOT interested in the Sushi, ATALL! Yes, I’ve seen sushi in the menu but, why should I care? Yes, I’ve seen someone ordered the sushi and eating it but I didn’t care. I do not waste my money eating sushi here, period. But I’ll come here for the Korean things. Good Korean Things! I like this place because it reminds me of my home town’s «Ichi-Ba»(market), a lot, more than Japantown. SF Japantown become look like a train station’s shopping area in Japan. So, what the J-town need most is a Pachinko Parlor! Sometimes I see the middle aged Korean women with the fake French brand big sun glasses who treats her man like a shit! I know that it is very strange giving 3 star with NOTHINGTODOWITHTHESUSHIMENU. FXXX it. By the way, Lisa W thinks Cherry Maki is a total ho. But Cherry Maki sounds like a Japanese female Pro wrestler from ‘70s. WTF! I think I get flagged by writing this. BTW, what a happened to the Japo transgender &TV star Karumen-Maki?

CMAS is located inside Kukje supermarket in Daly City. Once you pass the entrance, turn right and go all the way until you see a sushi bar and to the side are tables and chairs. That’s CMAS. But there’s no obvious restaurant signage indicating the name of this place, and you don’t know the name of the place until you get your check(at least that was the case 2 years ago for me). You would be fooled into thinking that this place is a Korean run Japanese restaurant, it is not. While the sushi bar is full blown and offers your standard nigiri as well as all sorts of makimono, food that comes from the kitchen is strictly Korean, with your standard offerings of soon dubu(tofu), banchan/panchan which arguably does not taste as good as the self help supermarket vats, bimpimbap, in addition a few other dishes. They even have Korean boiled dumplings(is it mandu or mandoo? I don’t remember). Their wall menu to the side and near the ceiling from the sushi bar, mentions za zang myun(aka ja jiang mien), but they never had it available during several lunch visits in the past. As far as the pseushi here goes, stick with the maki’s on the menu. The sushi here(ie nigiri sushi) just doesn’t cut it. You’re much safer ordering an unagi maki or even negi hamachi maki. But then again why are you ordering that here when the soon tofu here is, while mediocre, is overall better than the name of the restaurant’s supposed«signature offerings». The tofu stews here are a far cry from one of my favorites, So Gong Dong Tofu House in Palo Alto(I think they’re a small chain), where the broth has way more flavor there than at CMAS. CMAS is only good if you happen to be really hungry before or after you shop at Kukje, and I suppose a severe lack of Asian dining options in that part of town. But I swear, it was very very strange getting the credit card receipt, which was how I learned of this eatery’s name. When your credit card receipt and statement says: Cherry Maki & Sushi it really sounds like a nickname for those Asian Massage Parlors(with happy endings and more). So if you’re a married guy, you probably want to be careful in case your signficant other asks what were you doing at a place like that, followed by what did you REALLY order(ie whether you requested the HANDROLL ahem), and whether you tipped or not…

Usually, I stop by here for lunch during the week when I’m out and about running errands in the area. Just went to dinner on a Saturday night, and it was very crowded. The staff didn’t seem capable of handling such high volume. Un-bussed tables were everywhere, and I was told to come back in ten minutes because the busser was M.I.A. The price is a little steep when you consider that you’re sitting in a grocery store, eating the same food that is prepared in bulk and sold by the pound only a few feet away. If you’re looking for a classic Korean food experience with sizzling grills, soju, and lots of smoke, look into going to a regular restaurant instead of this fast-food version of the real thing. Service is basically non-existent, and the side dishes are made by someone dishes out the garlic with a very heavy hand. I’m a huge garlic fan, but even I shy away from most of their side dishes because of the burning garlic vapors. Here are some food ordering tips: * Stick to the tofu soup if you want to avoid disappointment… the seafood version is pretty good. * The beef fried rice seems to be prepared with butter which is very un-Korean. * The rice cake and dumpling soup should be avoided. The rice cakes are tough, and the dumplings have a funny after taste… not like Mom’s soup. * The spicy cold buckwheat noodles are pretty consistently okay. Chewy, like they should be. * Bowels be warned: I detect MSG in their food. Most dishes cost just under $ 10. Not exactly cheap, but the convenient location(right in the store) makes it sort of tolerable.
