Kumon Math and Reading Center of Serramonte

I see other review about the owner. I think the owner is very typical «tiger dad» style. I am ok with his attitude and personality. I like this place and my daughter had been here for 3 years and I will continue.

The owner itself needs to learn customer relation, He needs to talk to his customers whether younger or older to talk with relevance and respect. I feel like I was being condescended because I left and need to transfer to other Kumon due to relocation. He talks to too much without even realizing the time, he will tell you his stories about his kids and not focusing on what you came for. Plus it is supposed to be 45 minutes schedule but sometimes if you get in before closing time they will let you go home early without consuimng the 45 teaching time.

As a supplementary education program, Kumon Serramonte Math & Reading Center (or Serramonte Kumon) provides individualized curriculum for students of almost all ages — ranging from pre-​school years to secondary school (high school).
In order to take full advantage of the program, focus and dedication are required when taking part as a Kumon student. A certain willingness is required on the part of students, teaching assistants and parents. When taken seriously and to fuller extents, Kumon helps cultivate consistent and effective study habits as well as building self-​confidence.
Despite the seemingly repetitive work, Kumon assists in the continued progress of each and every student; the program is worthwhile, certainly when considering the future success and educational attainment of students.

This location is a joke!
Go to the one on Southgate if you really want to get your money’s worth. I previously attended the one on Southgate with Christine and she is the reason why I wanted to go back to Kumon. Unfortunately, my parents wanted me to go to this location since it was closer to my house, however, this location just does not compare to the Kumon on Southgate.
It’s unorganized, crowded, and parking is very difficult. From what I remember, the math tutors didn’t really help you and there was no form of organization when it came to completing the homework. Most of the time I was just like huh?
I don’t recommend this place at all.

Sucks did not help me at all whatsoever and the tutors were high school teenagers that had no patience whatsoever to teach, they shouldn’t even be there… what a waste of time and a waste of money. I would never put my kid here EVER

The other reviews you see here are most likely those of disgruntled lazy former students who did not take full advantage of the program. Trust me, I would know from experience…
I was a Serramonte Kumon Math and Reading student since I was four years old and did it for twelve years, and started working there as a teaching assistant since I was a Sophomore in high school. As a young Serramonte Kumon student, I honestly only did Kumon because my parents forced me to. They thought that it would be a great program for me to enrich my skills in Math and Reading and to get an academic jumpstart before starting Kindergarten.
The Kumon curriculum consists of step-​by-​step packets, which guide students through the basics and fundamentals of Math and Reading. Kumon starts kids at levels in which they are comfortable, whether they are at, above, or below grade level. The program also consists of constant repetition until the child has mastered certain mathematical procedures before progressing into higher levels of mathematics. The Reading program also works the same way, by introducing children to basic phonics, reading and comprehension skills, vocabulary, grammar, essay writing, and more.
Everyday, I’d grudgingly do my Kumon worksheets and loathed the constantly repetitive work load. But despite my flippant attitude towards the program, I consistently did my work until I reached higher mathematical levels, such as Trigonometry and Pre-​Calculus. Later, I found myself breezing through all of my math and reading assignments throughout elementary, middle, and high school. I got excellent grades in Math and Reading and never ceased to impress my teachers. Some of my teachers even asked me to assist my peers who were struggling in my classes. This was when I realized how much Kumon has given me a great foundation in Math and Reading, despite my negative attitude towards it when I was younger.
Now, as a Serramonte Kumon teaching assistant, I feel like I understand where most of the kids are coming from because I used to be in their position. Sure, Kumon isn’t exactly the most exciting program or activity because it revolves around academics, but it helped me a lot. I later realized that without Kumon, I would have been struggling horribly in school and would mostly be getting bad grades. I probably would be a college kid who doesn’t even know basic algebra. And let’s admit, there are a lot of college students out there who still struggle in academics.
In summation, Kumon honestly helps students in the long run. Serramonte Kumon TA’s are very personal, kind, and enthusiastic in teaching their students. The Serramonte Kumon Staff genuinely cares about each family and does its best to cater to each student’s individual needs.

If i could give this 0 stars, I would. This is the ‘stupidest’ place ever. My parents made me come here before. Completely pointless… they made me do something i never learned and when i asked for help, they didnt explain. when i cried in frustration, they didnt care. this is such a horrible place. Instead of paying big bucks, make your own worksheets.
