La Glamor

I waited a couple hours before writing this review to see if I could be nicer but I just can’t. Never have I ever been so upset with how my hair color came out. I have had my hair colored and dyed at various salons for the past ten years. I have gone to everything from the cheap asian places to high end salons that serve you mimosas and give you an ipad to play with while your color processes.
I had super high hopes for this salon but I am so upset because not only did I waste a lot of time and money but the stylist had also covered up the few hundred dollar highlights I had done at another salon.
My appt was for 1030 in the morning with Andyson and I did not leave until around 4PM. My hair was colored brown with blonde highlights and I had about 1 inch of black root that had come in. All I wanted was for the stylist to fill in my roots with the same blonde as my highlight. I called ahead and asked how much it would be and was told it would be $ 45.
After a couple hours of putting in the color and letting it process, Andyson washed everything off only to reveal my roots being a dark brown. The color he put on my roots was a whole 4 – 5 shades darker than the blonde I had requested. Imagine if my hair were dark brown instead of black, it seriously looked like I had brown hair and the roots were grown in by an inch. It looked HORRIBLE.
I told him that it was definitely not the color I wanted and even pointed –again– at the blonde highlights in my hair and said, «This is the BLONDE color I was talking about.» Then he said if I wanted that color then it would be $ 75 because there needs to be bleach. I thought he had understood that there would need to be bleach because halfway through the first mishap, he asked if i had bleach in my hair before to achieve the color and I very clearly stated yes.
I spent another couple hours in the chair while he proceeded to cut and color other client’s hair and left bleach in my hair for over 25 minutes while it burned my scalp. My hair began turning a bright, fluorescent yellow/​orange which was even more horrifying than before. Andyson assured me that it wouldn’t stay that color and said he would put toner in. Well, the toner did tone down the color, but he used SO much of it that he toned over my highlights! Now my hair has no blonde in it, it’s now an ashey brownish color all around.
I wouldn’t have been nearly as pissed if he contained his terrible mess up to just my roots but he negated the highlights I had done at a high end salon that cost me hundreds of dollars and after 2.5 months, I don’t have them anymore because of his excessive use of toner!
Learn from my mistake, do NOT go to this salon if you want to get your hair colored. Unless you just want black color to cover up your whites, I suggest you go elsewhere. This was such a waste of time and money and I have never ever been so disappointed after leaving a salon.

After a few weeks I realized that Howard put the straightening products on my ends, making them fried dead ends, that I had to cut. Pitty, but I saw he doing that and asked if was correct, he was positive that wouldn’t damage my hair. Turns out it DID damaged a lot.

You know being honest. My hair was not worth $ 85+ for prom, it took a while and I would say it was just an okay updo I would have rather gone somewhere cheaper, decent, and nicer. I only went here because it was close by and it had great reviews

NEVER AGAIN!
Havent been there since Feb. decided to get my A-​LINE trimmed. Was looking for Andyson, but if he was not there then I didn’t mind seeing someone else. The new person who did my hair did a horrible job. I kept saying A-​LINE and showed her a picture just in case if she did not understand me (everyone there has poor English). As she started cutting, she kept dropping things on the ground, pulling my hair when and kept apologizing for all her mistakes. I understand if you make one mistake but don’t keep making them. Then when she kept blow drying my hair to finalize it, it was not an A LINE!!! After complaining to her that it was not the A-​LINE I asked for she wanted to redo it again. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I was not going to have her cut it much shorter than what she already did, I decided to pay the exact amount and leave because at this point there is nothing for me to do since no one there can understand what I’m saying and I can’t understand them. When I decided to call and complain the lady on the phone chuckled, serious!!! what kind of service are you giving. NEVER AGAIN! I repeat NEVER AGAIN!

HOWARD is the best! I was sad that the old business (LaVii) closed down but I managed to track him and his staff here! I went to a few other people before him and they messed up my hair! And it was just horrible. Howard fixed it for me and made it beautiful! Every strand was cut with precision and he spent like 2 hours on my hair! Girls, definitely give him a try, you won’t regret it! I’m so happy I went back to him. Price is very reasonable as well. I will only cut by hair by Howard from now on. BTW I drive two hours just to go to him, and its worth it!

so let’s start off with location, you can totally drive by it 4x without noticing it there. but then again, it might be the asian in me. then you get a consultation and i said, in english and cantonese, that i have wavy, thick, and a loooot of hair.
And she agreed! so i said, don’t thin it out because it’ll definitely frizz up, and look like a lion’s mane.
GUESS WHAT. she thinned it out.
secondly, my head hurt the whole time she was cutting my hair. the technique here is to drag scissors down your hair shaft. it was like nonstop pulling and tugging, and honestly i felt like my hair was getting more damaged by the way she was cutting it. no bueno.
lastly, my hair is uneven. the right side is significantly longer than the left, but i figured i’d better go home and cut it myself because if i tell her, it might get worse. And, i dont think i could endure anymore pain.
so, 1 star for the head massage.

asked for lily and she was able to fit me in on a saturday.
straight to the point, very asian location, she spoke canto to me while my chinese sucks, still was able to communicate in english.
do NOT bother getting your haircut there, so bummed she chopped off my hair and dared to say she just TRIMMED IT. UGH. she literally was like CHOP CHOP. and thinned out my hair. T_​_​_​_​T
but at least she colored my hair pretty well… didn’t look too orangey, and was definitely lighter… although in the sun… it shines orange. oh well, asian hair.
so yea, dye hair here, but forget the hair cut. thanks

Howard and his entire staff are all amazing! I have gone to Howard for many years now, before he opened La Glamor! Haircut, coloring, straight perm, conditioning treatment, and trims, his staff is excellent at everything. He treats you like his own family, and you will always leave extremely satisfied. Free parking, wifi, and very easy to get to right off of the freeway. I come back here to get my hair done as often as I can even though I moved out of state a few years ago! :) Thank you again!

I made my appointment for 3 o’clock I was told after an hour of waiting to wait a few more minutes. In the mean time I got my eye brows waxed which a day later I ended up getting red bumps on my eye brow where the hair was removed. I get them done all the time and I don’t have that problem. Anyway, I finally got some help after 2 hours! The man that washed my hair was so rough and when he «messaged» my scalp he pressed down so hard I wanted to cry.
Lily cut my hair. I’ve been letting my hair grow for a few months now it was up to my chest and told her and showed her I only wanted 1 in. Trimmed JUST TRIMMED. She first started and I seen she cut way more then 1 in.!! What can you do after that the cut came out ok but it wasn’t what I wanted!

I had a very creative and energetic stylist Andyson for my new haircut. I am a picky person and Andyson was always so patient to listen and explain in details. I was glad that he got couples of great assistants to help him on getting my hair wash and cleanup done. I will definitely be back!

Love La Glamor! I came in last week for a haircut. I had long hair up to my butt that I been growing out for 2 years and it was a «V» cut at the bottom. I was craving for some change and I went here not really knowing what kindof cut I wanted, let alone how short to cut it. I tried to find a place close to where I live that does a fairly decent job and that’s where I found out about La Glamor! I went in and I cut it just a little below my shoulders and the bottom straight across instead of keeping my «V» cut. I wanted to cry when I seen my hair on the floor, I chopped off literally 10 inches off my locks. Lily was the one who cut my hair and don’t get me wrong, she did a great job, I just wasn’t used to my hair so short in a long time. I was satisfied leaving here my first time.
The next week after I had my haircut with Lily, I scheduled an appointment again with Lily to have an all over color, to bleach my hair! I wanted to go blonde and I had asian black hair. I tried going lighter before but it never came out all the same color all over. But thanks to Lily, she did an awesome job! And even though it took more than 4 hours to lighten my hair, she was so patient and kind! I would so recomment La Glamor to others. I posted a picture of my «after» if anyone wants to see how it came out. Reminder, I had asian black hair before!

I have followed Howard from X-​Press to La Vii, and now La Glamor. I wouldn’t know what I would do without Howard!

I know Howard for almost 10 years now in haircut business, since he used to own one in China town area. I coincidently met him again and he told me that he’ll be in Daly City for his business and I’m so excited to see him again for haircut.
Howard knows my style very well, I don’t have to tell him much or show him any good looking model pictures for help, by looking at you and have a little chat, he will work his magic. But I think he just have to be careful to make men’s haircut look too feminine.
Will definitely back for another service, maybe facial or wax, just offer me discount or special promotion like Groupon for example, I’ll be there again very soon!

Been a La Vii customer for 5 years and absolutely love the staff there. Not only are they attentive, they are always sensitive to my preferences without having to remind them each time. Funny people and down to earth enviroment. Love the fact that they are dog friendly and welcomes my 85lb golden retriever! :-) glad to find them in this new location closer to home! New location has free parking! Ask for Howard and Mo!

Best hair cut I’ve had in US for 6 years. Friendly and smart hair dresser, give you smart and reasonable suggestions. Reasonable price. Worth the time and money spent at this studio!
If you live in south bay, remember to put on lots of clothes when driving up. Daly city is cold!!!

I had a great experience going to La Glamor. The place was very tidy and the workers are very friendly. They had very great service.
So Andyson was the one who cut my hair and he was very good. He cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it and it looks amazing. He was very friendly and did a great job styling. I can’t wait to go back and get a hair cut again every time.

This place is glorious! It has Free indoor parking which is very convenience for customers. The interior of this salon is fashionable. I had my haircut here yesterday. Andyson was very patient and took his time to design my hair.
