So this place doesn’t have the best review on Unilocal, but we decided to give it a try… and it was OK. Its not bad, and its not the greatest… but if you are in the area and would like to have a variety of meals, this spot will do. First Encounter: The Tonkatsu Ramen was just ok. I’m not a fan of the salty and oily broth, the meat was not tasty and the egg they used was salted egg. But my husband actually liked his miso ramen. We loved the potstickers the best! the sauce that it came with was money!!! Second Encounter: I ordered the Unagi Fried rice and it was good! It had about 4 pieces of unagi on top and little shredded pieces within the fried rice. The servers are great. They are very attentive. The place doesn’t get super pack on weeknights, and the location is by an Asian market. There is a bakery and a liquor store nearby as well. Not bad. So maybe not the best spot for ramen, but they definitely have so much to offer. I would come back and order something else.

New to the Bay area we are still trying new places. We will definitely be going back. Good service and wonderful food. We all tried something new to us and none were disappointed. :)

Decent Japanese joint. Of course it’s not run by Japanese people but probably Chinese folks so most likely not very authentic. But good enough if you’re not picky and want decent ramen and a quick mean while taking a break from shopping at 99 ranch. Ive only ordered just the miso ramen.

We came here for lunch before going to Ranch 99. It tasted just OK! We ordered the«Tonkatsu Ramen» & lunch special(Tuesday) «Saba– Shioyaki». I don’t think I will come back anymore because I can make it better than them! *The waiter & waitress were very nice.

I wish this place had learned better skills to prepare boiled eggs. For me, the boiled egg is a key element in a bowl of ramen, yet this place failed on that. The bamboo shoots had a sweet taste which wasn’t in tune with the soup as a whole. The tea and the service, however, was enjoyable.

They have lunch special combo for 9.50 $? Each day of the week is ddiffeeent. Like noodle, fried rice etc. And comes with salad, soup n a small side :) is worth the price ~ I went on a Tuesday and is a el rice bowl combo. Which I don’t really like so I didn’t get it :( Order: fried Yaki soba with beef 9.85 $ Yaki soba came in such a big bowl wtf … I was expecting a small plate of noodle lol. Because before other orders were pretty decent amount unlike this giant bowl ! XD not that I am complainting !! Haha Totally happy with the portion ! The Yaki soba here is a bit oily for my liking, the noodle is pretty chewy :) they didn’t put enough meat in it tho. Only see like maybe 6 – 8 peice. This yakisoba consist of mushroom, lettuce(a bit too raw), onion, and carrot and beef(taste a bit old) ~~ The serve time was fast tho ~ took like maybe 10 mins :) Overall: not worth coming if you live far away from this. This place is next to 99 ranch so if you need to go get stuff at 99 ranch and hungry and you crave for Japanese. Then yes, go for it. Haha 6⁄10 for me :)

This is my go-to ramen place in a pinch. Their gyozas are perfectly pan-fried consistently. The tonkatsu ramen is hearty and comforting. I usually get the half-ramen and add spinach and wonton or cha-siu. Take-out orders are usually ready within 15 – 20 minutes. Service is always quick, polite, and impeccable in-house. There are also specials of the day(Monday-Friday), though I always seem to order the tonkatsu ramen. Underlying flavors lean more towards Cantonese. However, i still prefer their ramen to some of the overly hyped ramen places in San Mateo.

Ramen was not bad. Service was great. Not overly attentive, just enough. They only accept Visa or Mastercard with a $ 10 min. No Amex. Convenient location with plenty of parking and shopping.

Made the worst mistake of calling Majjiku for Momiju… Decided to try it out anyway. Worst Takuyaki EVEr! A small piece of squid fried in Onion Ring Batter. Gross… Tonaktsu Broth was plain and boring. Nothing special. But the worst part was the $ 7 order of Takuyaki that turned out to only be deep fried onion ring batter with a small piece of squid. Worst ramen place ever…

I’d really, really like to give Majikku a stellar review. Service is extremely prompt and polite, and the minute you meet one server’s eye, they’ll IMMEDIATELY see to your needs. But after coming 3 – 4 occasions, I’ve found myself always feeling a little… eh…by the time I walk out because of, well, the ramen. The ramen noodles are good portions, and they’re generous on the noodles, vegetables, and other stuff. By the time the ramen gets to my table, my appetite is pumped and I’m ready to dig in – only to meet a frustratingly tepid soup. You know that feeling when you wake up to a freezing morning and you’re dying to jump into a shower, but the water is JUUUUUST below the temperature where you’d like it? like… PLEASEEEAGHHHH. Though I could live with a warm soup, the taste is tear-inducingly teasing in just the same way. It’s pretty good — don’t get me wrong, but whatever flavor you want to get a little more of JUSTWON’T COME. I’m honestly not sure how they manage to PERFECTLY put that«MMMmm… this is so good» riiight out of the reach of your fingertips, as all of the ones I’ve tried begin with a nice taste when it reaches your tastebuds, only to dull down to a mild, slightly salty flavor. If you’re craving ramen and this place is close by, pay it a visit. If you got the time to drive somewhere farther, maybe consider trying another option. At the end of the day, you’ll get a fair meal for your buck, though. My friend tried one of the rice plates, and enjoyed it. And if you do try the ramen, you may land something that’s perfectly there! Or walk out with a sigh, craving just a little more.

Go to San Mateo for much better ramen(or SF’s new ramen shops). 3 stars worth for Daly City locals, because so far there’s nothing better. But we have much better ramen in the city, so for me it’s only 2 stars worthy = I’ve seen better. Most customers don’t realize that they can find all the ingredients(yes, full of MSG) to make everything in Majikku’s menu, right next door at 99 Market. Not saying the market supplies them, restaurants have wholesale food suppliers who charge less than supermarkets. I’m saying 99 Market has the ingredients(nama ramen, naruto, mushrooms, menma bambo, fish meatballs, yakitori, gyoza, nori, kombu, etc.) so home cooks can make a better version at home. On my way to the bathroom(it’s outside, left side of 99 Market entrance), I’ve seen thru the kitchen window, a cook opening a vaccum sealed pack of pre-cooked and pre-sliced foods ready for reheating(foods for frying come parcooked and frozen). I’ve seen the same thing at Genki Ramen(on Geary) and Tampopo in Japantown, they all use factory pre-made ingredients. The same thing happens in Japan. Most affordable Japanese restaurants use pre-made sauces and many factory ingredients(MSG is not taboo in Japan). Including most cheap 500 yen ramen shops, otherwise they wouldn’t make a profit. The only difference is that those Japanese cooks tweak their recipes a bit, adding a few fresh ingredients so the food resembles homemade. If Majikku would tweak their food a bit, the results would be so much better. For example, their tantan men is just noodles with a pre-made sweet sauce — I dislike this version. Just adding a few spoonfuls of ground meat(beef, pork, or chicken) cooked in the sauce, would improve that dish a lot. But I think the owners probably don’t want any added costs that might reduce their profit margin. Another thing I dislike. I don’t mind hard boiled eggs(although I prefer soft boiled), but I don’t like old cafeteria style overcooked eggs with a grey-greenish tinge. Unfortunately, Majikku is consistent in making overcooked eggs. I think that Coco’s Ramen(Bernal Heights) buys their pumpkin balls(Kabocha purée with boiled egg inside), sauces and other items, from the same food supplier as Majikku. But Coco’s recipes has other fresh ingredients, so the food tastes much better than Majikku. Never had any problem with service, only food quality is subpar.

I’m always here with my sister and my dad for their Friday Lunch Specials. It’s just your average set lunch but like, nothing else compares — it’s affordable, it’s got one of each category, and it’s quite filling. I’m pretty sure the people who work there recognizes us and knows exactly what we’re about to order cuz we always order the same thing… but we love it, and so should you. Eileen out.

I’ve always passed by Majikku on my way to Ranch 99 and have never stopped in, I suppose you could say I was intimidated not knowing what to order but thankfully that changed! I came for a weekday dinner and of course the place was packed with people. So we were seated and I ordered the gomaee spinach salad with sesame dressing to start and as my entrée the shrimp tempura ramen with an added egg. Everything was delicious especially the gomaee which is my favorite, So my standards are pretty high. The soup came served with the tempura on the side and a hefty bowl filled with noodles in a light broth even though I wasn’t able to finish it all but it sure was good! Oh and our server was super awesome and fast so we wouldn’t miss the play we had tix for! I’ll definitely be back I’m already craving the spinach salad

Is it weird to go to a ramen joint not for their ramen but for their unagi rice, or daily bento box lunch specials? That’s what brings this place to 3 stars, their lunch specials. Every day is different and you could be getting grilled mackerel to the typical teriyaki chicken. Each box comes with a decent salad(albeit small) and your choice of gyoza or potato croquette. I’m not saying it’s the best bento box, I’m just saying it’s okay. The ramen however is less than average. Watered down broth, small portions, and in general a sad ramen bowl. If I do stop by, it’ll be for the lunch bento only.

I’ve been here a couple of times with friends for lunch and dinner. It’s a small but cute little place. It’s connected to ranch 99 so parking can be rough if you come over the weekend. There’s residential parking so you might have a bit of a walk. But that’s totally fine because of all the food you’ll be eating! The service is okay. They’re really nice but not super attentive. I ran out of water a couple of times and had to ask for some. I actually had a phase where I hated ramen so truthfully I’ve never order it here. I would get their chicken katsu curry over rice and that is bomb! It’s a little spicy but just the right amount. I can’t handle spicy food so it’ll probably be mild to all you Unilocalers out there. Like I said, they’re really generous with their portions so you’ll always have left overs. I’ve recently started obsessing over ramen so I’ll definitely stop by to try some here.

Convenient Ramen place if you live in the area. Pretty standard ramen place to be honest. Nothing really stand out or amazing. I usually come here if I’m in the area. Plus I used to live in walking distance to this place so it was super convenient. They also have some amazing lunch deals. Definitely come in for lunch, which seems to be anything before 5pm. Not really a place you’d go out of the way for though.

This place has been in my bookmarks for the longest time. and I only just tried it recently lol. Pros: — Located right by Ranch 99, so if you’re looking to do some groceries before or after you eat here, you can just exit from the back of this place and Ranch 99 will be right across. — Fairly standard menu with appetizers, ramen, and other foods. — Pricing is decent for what you get for some dishes. — Accepts cash and card — Parking lot is big so hopefully you can find parking. — You can sit by tables or sit by the bar. Cons: — Parking lot may be big(as stated up there in the pros) but definitely be wary of when you go, because this parking lot gets PACKED during the weekends. — Service is barely there, and when you don’t need the servers, they hover by you anyways. — Some of their dishes are nice in presentation, but bland in flavor. — Despite the lively music, the atmosphere of the place seems gloomy. I ordered their butter corn ramen and takoyaki. Both had nice presentation, but somewhere along the way, they both began to sink in flavor. The takoyaki had a nice crispy outer layer but got so mushy on the inside, and the butter corn ramen had a good and balanced amount of condiments but the broth fell a bit short on flavor. Overall, a decent place that I’d go back to if I didn’t feel like going to Momiji or to San Francisco/San Mateo for other ramen spots.

Not bad, but not amazing either. Came in for a late dinner with my family but found the restaurant to be sufficiently full and tables continued to turn around while we were there too — always a good sign even though Ranch 99 was long deserted. We tried a few appetizers, the best being the corn and veggie okonomiyaki. I thought it was delicious! The veggies provided a change in texture and the corn added this nice sweetness. Presentation was also spot on. We also tried the agedashi tofu, but it was kind of lacking in flavor and the tempura outside completely fell off as a shell. Definitely have had way better. We also tried the grilled duck gizzards — it’s presented as a single skewer with maybe 8 pieces threaded across… I kind of wished it had more oomph. For entrees, we tried the tonkatsu ramen — really not half bad. The broth was done well but the pork slices were like cold cut thin. Kind of a joke. The only other toppings on the ramen were shredded fungus, sliced bamboo, and half a chicken egg. We also tried the kimchee fried rice — kudos for using actual kimchee and not just sriracha… but it was not fried rice, it was much too wet.

We were going to stop by at 99 Ranch but ended up eating at Majikku till the grocery store closed. The store has decent amount of eaters at around 830PM on a Saturday night. The menu outside looks very appetizing. The really food turned out to be just okay. Maybe we did you order the right thing. The ramen tasted like home made quality. The Katsu curry is watery. And the meat and flour balance of katsu is not good — the meat is too thin, thus it’s not juicy anymore. The yakitori is okay. Nothing really special about it. Service is pretty good in all.
