Good shrimp in awesome boil at the dynamite level. Needs work on service routines. Ordered side and entrée, informed out of entrée as side arrived. Would have liked plain sourdough available to dip. Ordered the garlic bread but it ran out too. Needed something to soak up the amazing garlic dynamite boil, settled for rice.

DISGUSTING! First off let me start off with the service… Nobody here helps you! Secondly the prices are way too overpriced $ 12 for a salad, no thank you! Lastly the food; which was horrible I ordered the Hawaiian salad(which consisted of old salad lettuce, and tomatoes, as well as a piece of grilled fish which was GREEN!!! It was so nasty I almost puked!

For a Cajun seafood place, this one isn’t the best. There is barely any flavor in the sauce. We even asked for EXTRA sauce because they serve very minimal sauce leaving the seafood kind of dry. Their is a sandy texture in the clams so be careful. The Cajun fries were amazing, very tasty. We ordered the combo C2, the prices are very unbeatable for the quantity you get, but quality? Can’t quite agree. It’s enough for two people I would say. I guess if you compare this restaurant with the boiling crab or backyard bayou it’s not as good but it’s decent just not as flavorful or savory. The staff was friendly. Most likely will not come back again…

The crabs are definately shaking, from me going in there so frequently. Quality– the Shrimp are huge and the mussels are always fully oppened and steaming hot in the bag. Taste– fresh. The shrimp and mussels are no doubt fresh. And before eating at Shaking crab I always had a problem eating the shell, but with the flavors they have I can’t help but eat everything but the head. Time — I would say no matter how much you order, there is never a long wait for the food. Even if the place is packed and theres only one girl working. They’ve definitely perfected their system. Customer service– I would go in twice a week and always see the same girl waitressing by herself, even if it was a full house. Shes basically an order taking ninja that is always happy to get you whatever you need. The sauces– you will never find such a perfected sauce anywhere else. I would recommend lemon pepper for the mussels and garlic for the shrimp. Also, the sweet potato fries have a very wholesome flavor to them. They’re cut thick and actually taste like sweet potatoes.

Just GOD awful in so many ways! Ordered the following: Fried oysters… too much batter and the oysters looked like they came out of a can Fried fish… thin filets that looked to be previously frozen 1lb of crawfish… I don’t eat this but I hear that’s also frozen and not fresh Cajun wings… ok this maybe was the one dish that was NOT terrible Garlic noodles… undercooked and just bad Warning: Sodas are by cans, so no free refills. Everything was served on disposable containers. What’s up with that???

The place to go to if u don’t feel like driving too far & ur really hungry. Our server was new, but she did good. Shrimp & Clams were ok, but the garlic noodles were horrible. I mean. Who in the world uses spaghetti noodles to make garlic noodles? There was no taste & they were really wet like they just took them out the water. How can anyone mess up garlic noodles? I’m so sad Not to mention, they serve their food on paper plates & drinks in plastic cups. SMDH I guess u can call it my dilemma #FatGirlProblems

Pros: shrimp, corn, cajun fries Cons: calamari, garlic noodles, potato Shrimp was really good and fresh, fries was sweet salty and spicy, corn was yummy with all the garlic flavor. Calamari was not great at all, too chewy and dry, Tastes old. Garlic noodle tastes like spaghetti with parmessan just thrown on it. Had to add garlic sauce just for some flavor. Ive had way better garlic noodles than that. Service was great, but first order came out with sausage in the bag, which I did not order with my shrimp. The server took brought us out a new shrimp bag right away. Overall it was okay, but I had better.

Came in for dinner on a Monday night. Unlike boiling crab there is no long wait — but quality is far lower. We ordered two combo number 2s and an order of fries. The order number twos include 1.5 lbs of shrimp, 1lb of clams, corns + sausage + potatoes. There was a sufficient amount of food for the 5 of us — although we were hardly stuffed. There was a sandy texture to the clams — indicating they probably had not been properly washed. Sounds great right? The shrimp was decent — but the sauce mix was not as a great as boiling crab or other seafood boil places. There were only two potatoes, and three small slices of sausage in each bag, so don’t expect the sides to be amazing. I Overall this place is a somewhat subpar substitute for boiling crab — I’d go elsewhere if I was craving quality. The cost was low — about $ 20 a person which is pretty reasonable for a seafood boil place.

pass on the snow crab, say yes to the shrimp~ cajun spices only, or go with ‘atomic’ and get ALL the sauces. both are good to me– the atomic is super garlic-y and oily, so sometimes just the cajun spice is fine with me. heavy pass on the garlic noodles– they’re soooo garlic-y and overpowering and oily! :( basically this place is only good for one thing only– hot bags filled with pounds of shrimp. don’t look at anything else on the menu because it’s probably going to disappoint you.

I found a rock in my food??? Umm r u serious? And we still had to pay for it? Usually either the meal would be taken off or substituted but at first they wanted to give us dessert as if we want to continue eating here. If u like rocks in ur food then come here. One star for the waiter he was nice but other than that never come back here again!

This is regarding take-out orders. I had come in to try there seafood noodle soup and had placed a togo order. When I had arrived there were 3 tables occupied and 2 of them were already well into there meals. After the server/host finally got off the phone she had taken my order. She had told me it would be 20 minutes so I take a seat. I notice her taking orders for a table that had arrived before me and shortly after taking their orders they had received there food. More than 20 minutes pass and my order still wasn’t ready… mind you seafood does not take long to cook and the place was practically empty. I decide to follow up with her and she tells me «I told you it would take 20 minutes» in a rude tone. She finally hands me my bag of soup rudely and while I’m walking out I notice the container of soup was tilted. End result: the soup was mediocre at best, the broth was very bland, the shrimp and clams were overcooked and the vegetables they use are frozen from a bag. Unless you remind them of your order chances are your bag of seafood is sitting in their kitchen overcooking in it’s container. After reading some of the other reviews of customers getting sick I guess eat at your own risk.

This is a very solid place. I see people complain about the service, but I have been here a few times already and have always had wonderful service. My water is always refilled and they come by frequently to check in on us. We also got our food fairly quickly. One of the neighboring tables had to wait a bit for their crab to arrive, but the waiter came to update them several times to let them know they were still cooking a new batch so that’s why they had to wait a few more minutes. Right after they seat you they also provide you with plenty of gloves, limes, and whatever other condiments you may need. Their shrimps are fresh and huge! Can’t go wrong with the original cajun. We have also tried both their fried fish and soft shell crab. They give you a lot of fries, but relatively small portion of fried fish/crab. Still, the fish was pretty decent and I liked that the best. In my opinion their seafood seasoning tastes pretty good and very close to boiling crab. If you come earlier in the evening or on a weekday, you can avoid lines. They are definitely busier on weekends so we tend to come only on weekdays where we have always had a great experience. Give this place a shot, it’s way better than driving down to SJ just for boiling crab!

I feel even bad for putting 2 stars to this place. This place is great since I don’t have to drive all the way to San Jose to Boiling Crab but you’ll see my reasons in the rest of my review: I came her with a friend and of course there was a line which is understandable so we waited patiently for about 15 minutes and were seated. It was crowded but with any seafood restaurant surrounded by us asians. We were seated next a bunch of families with kids, and I love kids but god damn if your kids are running all over the restaurant and disturbing other guests experience, you are the reason why restaurants do not want kids anymore! I can understand if you’re telling your kid to sit down but no these parents went on about their conversations and didn’t even flinch when their child ran past and knocked over a water on a guys table. Just a simple«they’re kids» comment and carried on. Anyways, we ordered 2 dozen oysters because it was happy hour which was great and 2 pounds of crawfish. The mix was alright for the crawfish, there’s something missing to it to make it have that zing to it but it fed my craving. The oysters were okay as well, but I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant due to the type of restaurant it was(If you do want some good oysters I recommend Hog Island Oyster Grill in the Ferry Building, you definitely your monies worth). Our server was kind but we had to flag him down a couple times but it was quite busy and he looked a little overwhelmed, I don’t blame him. Okay here is the 2 star part and you thought it included all the above. My friend and I returned home and a couple hours later we both had really bad food poisoning and I mean really bad! I believe it was the oysters because my friend does not like crawfish. He had it worse than me! He had to call in sick for work last minute because he thought it would pass. He was shivering and throwing up and was in the bathroom for hours. I totally understand that you’re taking a risk by eating raw oysters but to have that bad of food poisoning! I used to work in the food industry and it must have been mishandling of food protocols. They must have been out of ice for a while and then put in ice right after to cover it up or they had a bad batch. I’m sorry, I’m going to sacrifice driving all the way to San Jose for Boiling Crab until I find an alternative close by.

I came here for a surprise birthday party that I was super late for. Yay for commuting from San Jose! I like boiling crab and kicking crab so when Hubert told me it was at Shakin Crab I thought it was be the same experience as the others! This is quite small and I don’t enjoy the sauces very much– it’s more greasy? The corn doesn’t come in the bags with seafood so you’ll have to soak it yourself. I guess in Daly City if this is your only option for Cajun seafood in bags food then it’s alright. But I’d rather just eat at boiling crab and kickin crab which are not in the area. Whoo, for working in San Jose where the other two establishments are options for me. And. First time where I’ve seen people actually using those plastic gloves?! What?! PS. I used to live in SoCal during the boom of boiling crab in Westminster. This restaurant just doesn’t compare in terms of flavor. Oh wells, you do with what you get up here.

While waiting for the movie to start, I decided to grab dinner and found this place to be 5 minutes away and called about the wait time. We were seated right away when we showed up which was amazing. I ordered a pound of shrimp with the atomic sauce at mild spice level and some fried calamari. The sauce was full of garlic pieces which was different than other places I have tried but the sauce wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be. I can’t eat too spicy and I could handle the explosion level that my friend ordered. The shrimps here are huge and juicy and I loved that. The waiters here are very nice and they are willing to fix any problems you may have such as adding more spice to the sauce if needed. The fried calamari was really tasty and I definitely enjoy some good squid. I would definitely come back to this place if I’m in the area again.

I came here for the first time with my boyfriend the other day. Right when we walked in, the restaurant smelled so good!!! We ended up ordering sweet potato fries and combo 2, which comes with 1 ½ lbs of shrimp, 1 lb of clams, 2 corns, 4 sausages, and 2 potatoes. Food came out in around 10 minutes. Unfortunately their sauce is not that good. There’s a lot of oil and A LOT of garlic… They definitely need to find a way to bind the sauce together, because it’s pretty much in two layers, and when you get your shrimp from the bag, it will be dripping in oil. On the plus side, it was a huge portion, and the shrimp were really big and well cooked. I liked the clams, but sometimes we found empty ones, and we got 2 closed ones that were just filled with dirt(ewww). The corn was better than i’ve had at other places, and the sausage was also good, but pretty spicy. The potatoes that come with the combo are quite literal. It’s really 2 full sized potatoes and they just stick it in your sauce, lol! The sweet potato fries were very good, although probably frozen. They were hot when they came out, sprinkled with sugar, and really crunchy! We figured combo 2 for $ 32 was worth it because their market price for a pound of shrimp is $ 14 right now. The combo was a really big amount of food, and three people could probably split it! Service was up to par and the waitress was constantly refiling our waters which I liked. I probably wouldn’t come back because the excessive oil, plus I have other favorites closer to home.

Seems kind of dingy when you walk in. Very busy, though. Most dishes were pretty decently priced. Loved the sweet potato Cajun fries! The halibut was ok but weird dressing on the salad. Onion rings were good, too. We didn’t try the actual crab because it seemed really expensive for what you get. Maybe next time we’ll try it. Service was not attentive at all. They forgot one order of our fries and only came to the table once after we ordered. Had to stop them to order a soda and get our check afterwards.

Have u ever had that moments where you are scared to eat somewhere cus of bad ratings and yet u are curious and went anyway but with super low expectation??? Today was the day I had that moment. Came here expecting the worse. But left feeling happy and satisfied :) One pound of shrimp with atomic sauce is goood and really garlicy. It exceeded my expectation! 4⁄5 Cajun fries is good portion and flavor 5⁄5 Rice was SOOOBAD lol its like eating sticky rice! Sooo overcooked 0⁄5 but i still ate them cus I was hungry lol Service is ok… in the beginning they were checking but in the end noone was to be seen 3⁄5 I will come back again to save a trip to boiling crab.

I was really surprised to walk into an empty cajun restaurant. We ordered the fried oysters that came with french fries. It came with small pieces of oysters that was obviously frozen, but the french fries weren’t too bad. We also had a pound of red crawfish and a pound of shrimp. We added all the spices available but preferred it mild. Both the shrimp and the crawfish were extremely overcooked where the meat was pretty solid and hard to eat. The meat didn’t have much flavor once the shell had been removed so I would have to spoon the bag of garlic, oils and spices in order to put some punch into the tiny pieces of seafood. I smelled and burped garlic the rest of the night. Overall, I felt like the service was decent and the price was reasonable but I’ve definitely had better cajun food elsewhere.

I thought Shaking Crab was alright, but overpriced and missed the mark in some significant ways. There were two servers when we went in, young ladies, one who looked a little younger than the other(we’re talking 18 vs 20-years-old) had RBF bad and came off as disenchanted with her job, the other was quite nice. The food was OK… the plastic(eek:hot plastic on my food!?!) bag the seafood comes in is kitchy and fun I guess but the problem is the food is so hot inside and retains the heat that the seafood gets overcooked. I would normally think the object would be to pour the contents of the bag on the paper-lined table, however there was soooo much liquidy-sauce in the bag that the table would need to have been rimmed. On the subject of the sauce, it tasted really artifical and like it came from some sort of pouch. Furthermore, the sontents of the bag are so hot and you do not have utensils so when you reach in the bag to get some food out, you burn the bajeezus out of your fingers! The shining star of the… bag… was the chunks of spicy sausage, but there were only two small chunks in the whole bag, the corn was also good but there were only 2 little cobbettes. The real deal breaker for us as far as whether or not we would return was the garlic noodles– they were awful, don’t order them. The bags come with a choice of sauce: spicy, garlic butter etc. or you can have them all mixed BUT if you want one sauce and another on the side it’s $ 3 extra per side of sauce!!! WTF??? My last comment is about the fact that you are given paper plates and by the middle of the meal, they have become drenched and soggy and you start to pick up pieces of the plate in your food. By the end of the meal, there was a tennis ball-sized hole in my plate and I’m pretty sure I had consumed a portion of it… Shaking Crab– your menu is super hard to piece together, I am convinced you served food I had no idea about because of how confusing that weird chart-menu is. Other tips: use real garlic, not jarred/dehydrated/powder, real plates or else just a trough would be more effective, more corn and sausage, friendlier/more helpful servers and a less difficult menu.
