I’ve been going to Jenn for over 10 years for my haircut and color. I am not sure why I haven’t written a review before now. She does an amazing job and I always get compliments on my hair. The location is a little hidden if you aren’t sure where you are going — it’s on the street behind the Walgreen’s parking lot. If your a nurse you’re in luck. She shares the space and they sell all sorts of nurse scrubs. Jen great hair stylist!

I absolutely LOVE Jen!!! I wear my hair somewhat long with several long layers and although this is a typical haircut… Jen makes it look glamorous! With previous stylists I always found myself getting a touch-up or trim 2 months later, because the style has grown out and/or it’s lost its buoyancy and life… definitely not the case with Jen! I don’t know what sort of magic her shears possess, but 2 months after a cut by Jen, and my trendy coiffure, looks even better! Now, I’m not one to spend an abundant amount of time on my hair as I tend to opt for wash and wear looks… ordinarily with the lack of time at my disposal, I just twist it into a bun and call it a night… this technique in the morning makes my layers wavy and voluminous. I can’t tell you how many compliments and inquiries my hair is garnered! Every time someone asks I immediately refer them to Jen! So take this review as me urging YOU to give her a try! You won’t regret it.

AH! I meant to do this sooner, but better late than never. I went here a couple of weeks ago to finally get my hair cut– it grows slow, but with all the damage I’ve done to it with blow drying and straightening, my ends were dry and gross. I got a little confused since its location is in a neighborhood and outside where it’s supposed to be, there was a HUGE sign for Catch-22(Jenn’s sister’s shop) Nonetheless, I found street parking right around the corner and took a gander. Upon entering, I immediately saw a LOT of nursing scrubs and other«pasalubong» type items for sale – shoes/slippers against the wall, beaded jewelry, some dressy tops, etc. And towards the back was a lady working on one of her clients already. The interior space is indeed very small, barely room for two people to sit and wait, since the place is packed with merchandise. The lady working turned out to be Jenn! Thee most amazing person ever. She only does appointments, but lucky me, she was able to squeeze me in for a haircut. So while I waited for her to finish with the client before me, I sat down and waited. Her daughter was there, sitting behind this desk thing, and started laughing. And for a while I thought she was laughing at me, but she was watching on her laptop behind me. When it came time to work on my frizzy mess, she talked me through a few options and chose something simple but cute. She washed my hair and started working. The whole time she was cutting my hair we were talking– from being nosy and procrastinating because of facebook to family to just about everything. I’ve NEVER held a conversation with any of my previous barbers, so I definitely enjoyed my time there. Her two sons came home(?) from school and started working on their homework which was cute. Everything about that place just reminded me of home and family. For $ 35, I paid for a wash and a cut. A little bit pricey for me, since I’m used to paying a little over $ 20 for a haircut. But I didn’t mind paying a few extra bucks for a cut I’m extremely happy with. I’m the type of person who’s NEVER satisfied when my hair gets cut and waits until it grows out for me to be «OK» with. But this was my very first time I actually seriously LOVED my haircut. All thanks to Jenn :) I most definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good haircut.

I used to go to this salon in downtown San Mateo. My stylist at the time was young and was charging a decent price for cuts, but over the course of 5 years she became wayy more than I could afford. Around that time my mom started going to Jen. She kept telling me to come to her salon too, but I never took the opportunity. Instead I went with a couple suggestions from friends but never seemed to get a good haircut. This is when I finally decided to go to Jen and I haven’t looked back :) Her prices are really reasonable and her work is excellent. She gives you exactly what you want if you come with pictures and ideas. She also brings suggestions to the table for you to consider since she has so much experience and knowledge. I can say for certain that I’ve never come away disappointed in her cuts. She’s also made great suggestions over the years on products. I’m still using a shampoo she told me about 3 or 4 years ago. I get compliments on my hair and it’s quality, which is as a result of Jen’s skilled haircuts and product suggestions. I’ve had some expensive haircuts in my day and I don’t think any of those stylists have anything on Jen. :)

I should call Auntie Jenny the hair doctor. She saved my hair(which had uneven layers and looked ridiculous! She told me herself! ahah! I blame Magic Touch)! She got my layers all even with the razor, and dyed it with some peek-a-boo highlights. Looked really cute. I loved the way she styled my hair after too. Highly suggest her if you want a seriously cute hairstyle! =)

Jen is a rockstar when it comes to doing hair. I «stalked» a woman until she gave me her phone number and info because home-girls hair was BANGING! I was a little nervous but after my experience at Belli Cappelli on Divisadero(see review) i needed some hair TLC. Well Jen gave it to me and then some. my cut and color cost me $ 110 which was not bad because let me tell you the compliments that I receive on a daily basis about my hair makes me feel like a million bucks! It is a hole in the wall but it is not all about the looks of the salon here… it is about the artist and boy is she amazing. She is a family person and weekends are off limits so it may take some time to get in with her when she is busy but for Jen it is so worth the wait…
