I recently reviewed my operative report from a surgery Dr. Shapiro wrote from a procedure back in 2004. It brought up old feelings that I had to share. I had an unpleasant experience with Dr. Shapiro and never went back. I went to her to perform a laparoscopy to remove endometriosis. I had awful pains for years with no relief or diagnosis. After my second trip to the ER, my mom and doctor put two and two together that it might be endometriosis. When I woke up from surgery, Dr. Shapiro told me and my mom that there was a little bit of endometriosis, but that I shouldn’t have been in as much pain as I said I had been. She told me I should go to therapy. FYI, the amount of endometriosis doesn’t equal the amount of pain you’re in. It depends on where the endometriosis is, whether it’s on a nerve, etc. For a doctor to brush off your pain as in your head when it clearly wasn’t is a crappy feeling.

I’d been a patient for a few years and was not happy with Dr. Shapiro. She misdiagnosed me and recommended a procedure that was not necessary. I found this out after going to another doctor. My new doctor also has access to better equipment to deal with another problem I have. It’s amazing the type of service you can get from a doctor based on expertise and access to a better facility for procedures.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Shapiro for four years and find her to be the best OBGYN I’ve had. She takes takes time to get to know the patients and explains medical issues clearly. She isn’t overly eager to prescribe medication but does so when necessary. She helped me get my cycle back to normal after stopping birth control and saw me through getting pregnant. When I had what I thought was an emergency question on a Sunday night, she personally returned my call. Dr. Shapiro has been flawless in her judgment and I’ve always felt comfortable listening to her advice. I highly recommend her.

this place sucks!!! they will totally rip you off. I requested for my medical records and they charge me $ 25. My new OB haven’t received my medical records that they said they mailed two weeks ago and they will charge me additional $ 10 to request another copy. so stupid! charging me too much for OWN medical records. My OB was Dr. Katie Shapiro. Stay away from this OB as much as possible. She will just make you miserable. She’s very negative. I went to her a month ago because I found out I am pregnant. She told me I might have a miscarriage because she couldn’t hear my baby’s heartbeat. I went to a different OB for a 2nd opinion and it turned out that Dr. Shapiro miscalcuated my weeks. No wonder she can’t hear the baby’s heartbeat. I WILLNEVERGOBACKTOWOMEN’S HEALTHGROUPEVER!!!

Dr. Kathy(Katie) Shapiro is one of the all-time BEST ob/gyn’s I’ve ever experienced. She recently performed surgery on me, removing a 12 cm dermoid tumor(benign, thank you God!) on April 8th, 2009. Her bedside manner, excellent skill, informative and patient way of being was amazing. I am grateful to not only her, but to her wonderful staff as well. They make you feel welcomed by personalizing your care with grace, kindness and the utmost professionalism. I’m hoping my daughters choose Dr. Shapiro when they decide to have babies!
