Do yourself a favor and just get your ice cream here!!! Just came here with my wife. We both ordered a small cone and trust me that was more than plenty for reach of us. I had a mixture of the almond joy with chocolate almond and it was absolutely fantastic. My wife had a mixture of the blueberry and the coconut ice cream and she loved it. Some of the best ice cream I’ve had in a long long time. They make all their ice cream fresh downstairs in the building and it tastes fresh. They have a huge selection of flavors from which to choose and they allow you to taste it. The service was excellent and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. A must try.

Okay, we’ve not been to the stand itself, but four years ago we «discovered» Round Top in the freezer section of the Boothbay Harbor Hannaford and it has become one of the staples we buy Saturday night when we arrive for our two week stay. We have been testing out various flavors and Blueberry and Cinnamon seem to be the winners. It just isn’t a Maine evening looking out on the water without a bowl of Round Top!

Yum! Tons of flavors, friendly service and excellent ice cream! Everyone had something different; Eagle Tracks, Maple Walnut, Butter Crunch to name a few and all were delicious. Also good to note is that they let you mix two flavors in any size if you can’t decide which you want more. Just plan on waiting in a long line on any given summer night.

I know that I should love it here… it’s an institution, but I just don’t think the ice cream is very good… The people are always incredibly pleasant and friendly and the atmosphere is quite lovely, but the flavor of their ice cream always seems so bland to me. I’ve tried quite a few flavors(having worked at Kieve back in the day, a trip to Round Top was considered an evening outing) and I’ve just never grasped a hold of any of their flavors and would often turn to soft serve(which is really what an ice cream fan gets when there’s nothing better). All of that being said, everyone else that I’ve ever been here with LOVES it. People truly get excited about the ice cream here… so maybe it’s just me. My husband loves their M&M ice cream and appreciates that they use the full sized M&M candy and not the minis.

Let’s just say that I do not return home from Maine to Michigan without stopping at Round Top at least once, no matter what. There Chocolate is to die for but all of their flavors are excellently executed. I just tried Mocha Chip which was great coffee/chocolate combo and the Coconut was intense. The dishes are reasonably priced for average helpings but you can’t actually pursuede the counter workers not to give you a heaping helping of whatever size you order(actually you can talk them down but the customers effort is usually half-hearted and the counter workers know the difference). Order one size down! :-)

This is a great ice cream spot. The ice cream has always been good. We come by here during the summer and fall, and I have had a variety of flavors: chocolate almond, sweet cream, peanut butter, raspberry, almond joy. I e never had a bad flavor! In the fall they have pumpkin ice-cream– try a pumpkin shake– so good! The only thing that is a negative is that sometimes online it will say open, when it has already closed. The hours need to be updated online so you don’t drive over and be disappointed when it is actually closed. I would have given the place a five if not for that one thing.

I wasn’t going to leave a review because I wanted to get in touch with someone personally, but it’s been a few weeks and I haven’t had any response from the business. A couple weeks ago we drove over 30 minutes to get ice cream, before we left we looked up the hours and it says 7 days a week until 9pm. We got to the store with plenty of time to spare, it wasn’t even 8:00 yet. however. the doors were locked. Customers were still inside eating, and at this point I was very confused. The girl behind the counter gave me a big smile like«Sorry! we are closed ya just missed us» thats when I noticed the sign on the door that says closed 8:00pm. I pulled out my phone to check the time and it wasn’t 8:00 yet. 7:56 I believe it was. After driving that long and getting what I consider poor customer service, I called. I told the girl that we were upset because we drove all this way when online says 9:00pm she laughed and said«sorry that must be our summer hours.» I suggested she might want to change the hours online. So last night, we rushed over as soon as my husband got out of work, it was around 7:40. I called a couple of times trying to confirm if they had closed early or not, and maybe give a heads up — please stay open for us! No answer after 2 calls. but we arrived, still open. No customers inside though to indicate why 2 people couldn’t answer the phone. Ran inside and ordered our icecream. As soon as we left(before 8:00) we were followed out by an employee and the door was locked up behind us. We had to sit in our vehicle for a bit anyway to eat the ice cream and couldn’t help but notice 3 other cars pulled in before 8:00 to find a locked door and had to leave. I’m writing because I know the girls who work there are highschool or college age, and seem to have no real work ethic. I believe the owner would be very disappointed if they knew how much business they were losing due to their poor service. Its a cash only business, and they didnt want to serve us at 7:56 when you are supposed to be open until 8. Just serve me some icecream and take my money. Also, I am looking here on Unilocal and can’t seem to ignore it still says you are open until 9:00pm. Ice cream is good, but it’s not worth the long drive to receive this level of service.

What a gem. Bf and I passed by this place when we were in Damariscotta for our road trip. The parking lot was pretty full and we wanted to go for ice cream, so why not? Was so pleasantly surprised by the options that we saw here. It seems like a local favorite since there were a ton of little kids in the place. They’ve literally got so many ice cream flavors it is amazing. We just went with a very simple watermelon ice cream in a sugar cone which was actually pretty good. I’ve surprisingly enough, never had a watermelon ice cream before. They have a cute patio area right outside that you can sit on to view the beautiful Damariscotta Cove. tldr; cute New England ice cream store with tons of delicious flavors!

What the hell is happening to the teenagers of the Bristol area? Last week I flew from California to New England to visit my family before the baby pops out, and we travelled up to Pemaquid/Damariscotta. We’ve gone almost every year for over thirty years, and this time whenever we tried to order a lobster or an ice cream from anyone under the age of 20(except for Harbor Ice Cream), we were greeted with sourpuss faces, dead eyes, and rude attitudes. WHATTHEHELLHAPPENEDTOHAPPYKIDSSERVINGICECREAMINTHESUMMER? Jesus H! My grandmother, mom, sister and I all stopped at Round Top while we we were up last week, and three gloomy, clique-y faces stared back at us from behind the counter. I asked for a soft serve twist with rainbow jimmies, and was immediately scolded by the most sour-puss-faced girl. «Hi! Can I get a soft serve twist in a cone with rainbow jimmies, please?» «You mean SPRINKLES?» She glared back at me. GUESSWHAT, KID, the word ‘jimmies’ has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELYNOTHING, to do with racism! I read somewhere that it has to do with the Jimmy Fund, actually. And yes, I realize most people say«sprinkles» when they want rainbow ones and«jimmies» when they want chocolate ones, but I say«jimmies» for BOTH. You know why? Because I never ‘sprinkle’ sprinkles on my ice cream. I heap them on in indelicate spoonfuls, in such abundance that I have to sort of ‘jimmy’ the spoon into my ice cream in order to get a big, perfect bite. So there, you little know-it-all. JIMMIES, JIMMIES, JIMMIES. RAINBOWJIMMIESALLDAYLONG! Also, the fact that I call both the rainbow ones AND the chocolate ones«jimmies» sort of shows just how UNRACIST I am, if you think about it for two seconds. And you know what? You live in NEWENGLAND, kid, where«jimmies» is part of the language, much like«bubbler» instead of «water fountain» or «Jeezum Crow» instead of «Jesus Christ, you’re a little piece of crap, aren’t you?» I LOVE being a 30-something pregnant woman who gets scolded by some angry kid who’s wearing gobs of improperly applied eyeliner, and who has experienced NOTHING in the world yet other than reading too much into Facebook and celebrity Twitter feeds. I LOOOOOOVE bitchy kids implying I’m an idiot, or racist, or both. Ugh. The ice cream was great, but not a single kid working there smiled or acted even 10% happy about helping us. I even put money in the tip jar against my better judgement just to see if they’d say thank you… nope, there wash no ‘thank you’ or even a hint of a smile from any of them. And while I’m up here on my soapbox, I’d like to take this time to express just how much I miss the old Round Top ice cream shed. I mean, it’s still there, but it’s not really used for anything anymore. That little building had so much more character than the new building and it’s new breed of ice-cream-scooping employees combined. Sigh. Things are not changing for the better. I remember being a kid myself back then and being served by happy teenagers who loved ice cream! Oh, also, the kids working at Harbor Ice Cream in New Harbor were WAY nicer than the kids working at Round Top. It might be worth the extra 20 minute drive into New Harbor if you want to be served by someone with a pleasant attitude.

AWESOME ice cream! Tons of flavors, very decently priced, lots of seating, both in and out. The counter people were so nice to everyone, including the five year old, who… like many five year olds… couldnt decide what flavor to get!(Thats OK, I couldnt either… too many flavors!) The young lady gave my little guy a sample or two before he decided on coconut! Thanks for terrific service, and delicious ice cream!

Memories and ice cream Round Top Ice Cream Stand is legendary in this part of Maine. A place people talk about with awe and drool hanging on every world. A place that is simply the best of the best. This ice cream joint has been around forever or at least it seems that way. I couldn’t find out exactly how old it is but I do know it has been sitting here for many, many decades. One of those places that never seems to change with the times simply because it doesn’t have to. Just so many different flavors of home made ice cream, some ordinary and others different and special. Rich, smooth and so good that it hurts, I’ve had a whole lot of ice cream in my life but absolutely nothing has every been better. The place looks pretty boring from the outside and is easy to miss, although the mass of people trying to get the great ice cream gives it away in the summer. This is the type of rare place that makes memories. When people from other parts of the country think of their Maine vacations years from now they will always remember their visit to Round Top. When kids grow up and become adults they will tell their kids about this great ice cream place up in a strange little town in Maine called Damariscotta. Even though the outside isn’t a much to look at, once inside things become really interesting. Lots of great old photos, signs and even a great old ice cream machine add a rustic ambiance that just screams rural Maine at you. Go outside and you get stunning views of the rolling hills and cow fields. A simple place that just cannot get any better. Unbelievably great ice cream, very friendly and cool staff, tons of history and beautiful views. Perfection is an absolute and the word should be used with great care. But Round Top is about as close to perfect as it can gets.

Lots of hype about this place. I ordered a small almond joy cone and it completely fell apart. I asked for a bowl and ate it with a spoon. Very good and maybe it just had too much stuff to stick well together. They had a huge variety of flavors so I want to go back and try more. My husband ordered a frappé with Sugar free caramel ice cream that was delicious! This definitely seems like a hot local place to go and they have lots of pictures on the wall of the staff from the 70s, 80s and 90s. We loved looking at the pictures! Definitely worth a stop.

Ice cream doesn’t get much better than this. For two ends of the spectrum(both executed to perfection), try the orange pineapple ice cream along with a scoop of Eagle Tracks. The former is akin to the smoothest, most decadent sherbet you’ve ever had, while the latter is a classic cookies & cream(with HUGE chocolate cookie chunks – can’t say whether they were Oreo or not) infused with a generous helping of peanut butter cups. Check and mate. Lines are long, but the turnover is quick. Come with lots of friends, and try as many flavors as possible. For the affordable price, large portions, and incredible quality of product, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had(especially at the price!) A must stop for anyone in the area. Almost all of the flavors I’ve tried are great, a few stand-outs include ginger, peach, black raspberry. Any of those make some great frappes(not milkshakes) and don’t bother with the extra-thick frappé, you can barely drink the regular without waiting for it to melt.
