The only reason I put one star is it makes you make a selection before proceeding. I would like to give zero stars. My family and I visited Damascus for a couple of days last week on our way to the beach. I grew up in SWVA. As we left our rental cottage to go find food last Monday evening we started walking into the main part of town and ran into several locals we had met previously and we told them where we were going to eat. Very politely they tried to steer us toward something else besides Bobo Mcfarlands. Unfortunately on Mondays the Old Mill is closed along with the taco place. This was the only other sit down restaurant we knew of in town. My family of 4 which includes two small children ate here and the bill was $ 75. We do not mind paying quite a bit more than that for good quality food but what we received was far less than that. The mashed potatoes were less than edible on my wife and daughters entrees. The shrimp and fries I got for $ 10 included a meager amount of tough tiny shrimp and a small size order of fries. And you would think with mine being $ 10 and a family of four we drank a large amount of alcohol. We don’t drink so all we had was a milk a three teas for beverages. Maybe the pizza is worthwhile, but I will never know. Next time we are in town and it’s a Monday we will drive into Abingdon to eat. With Damascus getting a lot of passing thru hikers and tourists coming to ride the creeper trail of fish I assume this is how they stay in business. If they get repeat customers in my opinion these people have led a sad life in respects to food. We are the day before at a little café along the trail and the food there was exactly as expected good dinner food. We left full and satisfied for $ 32. If Bobo’s had of charged me $ 32 it would have still been the same review. It was terrible at any price. I don’t leave a lot of reviews. I will in the case of exceptionally good service and this is my first ever in 43 years of leaving a bad review, but if I can save some other family from the lackluster service and despicable food of BoBo McFarlands it is all worth it.

We ordered the pizza and the chicken tenders. Really yummy! Service was horrible but considering it was the first hot, real meal we’ve had in 4 days(we’re camping) it was really good!

We were visiting Damascus during the annual Trail Days celebration. We stopped in here for a late lunch on Saturday and the place was packed. We still managed to get a cold beer and relax at the bar and chat with many people from the hiking community. After some drinks and seeing lots of delicious food coming out of the kitchen, we ordered our lunch. I got a cheeseburger and my husband got the calzone and both were delicious ! This place may not look like much on the outside, but there is fun and good food waiting on the inside. We hope to come back again next year to this friendly trail town. When we do, we will certainly be making at stop at Bobo’s.

Great food! The potato soup was amazing, and the roasted root vegetables included parsnips-something I never thought I’d see outside of New England. Prices were reasonable and they had local brew.

Good fresh food that seemed to be made from scratch. The salads were amazing(per the people I was with) and they enjoyed the local beers as well. Clean bathrooms and great service would come back!

The turkey apple bacon wrap was really yummy, as was the mac-n-cheese. I wasn’t under or over-impressed.

The only reason for the 2 star and not a one was our waiter(he was professional and provided great customer service), upon walking in we were yelled at literally from across the restaurant from a lady behind the bar, telling us to sit wherever, as a few other patrons looked up. In my opinion the place is very dim and could use a brighter color or more windows. When we sat the same lady(bartender, waitress, hostess???) what ever her title was was not the least bit friendly at all and seemed to have a bit of a attitude. I had asked one question and received a short answer, the second question I suppose ignored maybe? Who knows but she just walked off stating our waiter would be out shortly. For the sake of rambling on the food we received which was basic(cheeseburgers and salad) for a party of 3 was marginal at best. All 3 of us agreed, and will not be back nor recommend this place. Oh just one quick mention of a guy at the bar who may have had one to many mid day was a little annoying. Hope this helps

Wow… you would never know from the exterior what a great place this is… even once inside, its very plainly decorated… BUT the food is amazing…, our party ordered the pig wings as an appetizer…, WOW! Each one of our entrees was fresh and delicious…, the fish and chips… the classic club and the Reuben… we will definitely be back! The staff was super friendly too! Oh. and the beer was cold and delicious!

The only thing I was unhappy with was a side of broccoli, which was way undercooked. The other side I ordered was grilled root vegetables and that was unusual and delicious. I also had the meatloaf as my entrée and that was fantastic as well. The service was phenomenal too. Hope to visit again soon.
