Synaptic Cycles

In town for a family vacation for a week, so I wanted to get in a couple of days of riding. I should have called a few weeks in advance, but Joe the owner delivered a bike to me the same day I called. Very accommodating and a very nice Focus carbon fiber bike with Ultra di2! The ride south through San Clemente, Onafre State Park, and Camp Pendleton was spectacular. There is no store to visit. This operation is all via phone and email, delivery and pickup. Very efficient.

I was in town visiting family for a couple days, and was hoping to get in a good ride while there, but of course it was impractical to fly my bike in from St. Louis. After a quick web search I found Synaptic, liked their name (I’m a neuroscientist & so is the owner!), and their business model even more. Even though the 1-​day rental was a bit more expensive (cheaper for multi-​day rentals), the convenience of them coming to dropoff and pickup the bike at my parents house was to me very much worth the extra cost. The experience was all I hoped for — Joe the owner was very responsive and easy to deal with. He got me a high quality carbon-​frame bike the next day, dropping it off at a convenient time for me. He spent time with me making sure it fit well and that I was satisfied with the bike. It was an easy rental process, and I very much enjoyed a coastal 40-​mile ride with no hassle.
If you’re visiting SD for a short period, and want to rent a high-​end road bike with very little hassle, then Synaptic is for you. I highly recommend them!

I was visiting family in Long Beach at the end of Janurary. Its pretty impossible to find a good road bike to rent on short notice from a shop in SoCal. I found Synaptic and gave them a call. The owner is great. He answered my call on a Sunday night and was super helpful. Even though I was slightly outside his normal delivery area he agreed to rent me the bike for a week.
Set-​up was very easy. Synaptic sent a fit sheet and the bike was almost identical to my bike at home.
I rode the bike a ton. It was an all carbon Calfee with Ultegra and hand-​built wheels for a great price. I had a wheel issue but synaptice heleped me sort it out asap.
I will use them again and again when I visit CA. Thanks!

The bikes are very comfortable to ride and well maintained. The
bonus is that the bikes are delivered to you at your hotel
