Sheridan Ocean Club Apartments

What a shame this place… I used to love it so much. Never wanted to listen to the warning my neighbors gave me when I moved in. The office staff (except for the manager) is really nice. but there is nothing they can do. its just their job. If you are moving in or just moved in. please. TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEOS of EVERYTHING. My security deposit is GONE. They will charge you for thing that doesn’t exist, like removal of objects… paint… carpet cleaning… cleaning… When I moved I left my apartment better that what they gave me when I moved in. Still. they charged me for everything. Also remember you will be paying for. TRASH. WATER. and SEWER. That is another $ 100 –135 for a 1 bedroom unit. I travel a lot and was never there. still every month was too much money. When I moved out, for 19 days they charged me twice for water, sewer, etc. The entrance door/​security is always broken and the security guard lets anybody in. They are asking a lot of money for apartments that are not updated, old appliances, including the AC units. Trust me… they are MANY other places around, better and for way less money, like the one I just got. Just look for it and be patient. DO NOT MOVE HERE… you will be sorry. I have proof of everything. videos, photos, and letters in case you need it.

Office staff is friendly but fails to resolve issues. Parking is awful and raccoons and stray cats are a huge problem. They also charge a hefty pet fee and monthly pet rent, considering the lax attention to keeping bag stations stocked. The neighborhood is nice and the maintenance crew is awesome.
After posting this the response is that they tag cars. This is absolutely false. I have updated to one star. Nothing worse than a dishonest management office.

These people are thieves!!! Do not rent from this company. They will overcharge you bogus fees and utilities any chance they get. From the rental agents to the management, each is shadier than the next. No matter how much you do things by the book, they will find a way to sneak in more fees and penalties. They are a disgrace! Don’t let proximity to the beach fool you. You’re better off paying higher rent somewhere else than dealing with this company. They will get your money in other ways in the end.

Real shady management. Take pictures of everything! Horrible move out policy, they certainly will nickel and dime you. If you think you are getting your security deposit back… think again.

Euro-​trash nightmare. So many of them chain smoke and throw their buts in and around the pool and management doesn’t even pick them up. The grounds are filthy and full of people’s dog business they don’t pick up. Again, management doesn’t care. Have a problem and call or email the office? Well keep trying pal, because they won’t respond until you get really angry and insistent. Then they act like your problem doesn’t exist. Also: ants. Everywhere, always, no matter what you do.

I would never have rented here had I known how expensive my water would be. It has been in the low $ 80s every month for a one bedroom. The most I have paid at other places was $ 16 (usually averaged $ 14). They do not bill you based on your usage. They split it based on your building. I heard running water for 3 straight days and notified management that one of the apartments had their water running nonstop. It took them two days to check it out and turn it off. I know people with 4 bedroom houses and pools who pay $ 80 or less a month… I feel like there is something illegal going on here. I know other people have complained and management has done nothing about it. I was even charged for water the day before my lease started. They also charge $ 9/​month for garbage, a $ 300 nonrefundable moving fee, and $ 25/​per pet/​month on top of a nonrefundable pet deposit. The apartments are old and musty smelling. It took me 3 months to get the disgusting smell out of the apartment. Sugar ants are a nightmare, but was able to get rid of those on my own as their pest control did nothing effective. Toilet is rusty and scratched so it looks like it’s never clean. Way too expensive based on the quality of apartments. The staff are pretty good though, and the location is nice. Could’ve rented a much nicer place in Aventura for the same price after all the fees/​monthly add ons.

Love it here ! I was living in SC looking to move back home and met Keisha by phone. She was pleasant, kind and patient. She even met w my friend to FaceTime so I could see the units through the phone ! Lol when I came down for a visit it was like a utopian community ! Raccoons, birds and all kinds of nature, I even saw a manatee w her calf in the canal behind the building ! I was sold ! I knew my doggies and I would be happy here. Did I mention they are super dog friendly ?! I’ve seen all kinds of friendly fur babies and fell in love. It’s clean, gated, has pools and a gym. You can ride your bike to the beach and publix and the bank are a block away ! Not to mention really good mom and pop diners like Gramps and amazing burgers at Tarks. Not a meat eater ?? There’s now a juice bar right on Dania :) I have been here since November and haven’t had any issues. All my service requests have been resolved so quickly and Eric at the office has helped with some small issues but completely took care of everything. I’m really happy here and know you will be too !

Terrible place to rent, highly not recommended! Very small apartments, no elevator, charges for water which runs almost 100 a month on top of the rent. When you want to move out, watch out for more charges!

Pros:
Absolutely great neighborhood.
Location for some is unbeatable! A skip away from the beach…12 mins to las Olas…30 to Miami beach convention center… what is around this complex is great, but one thing makes it even better. Their dog policy. South Florida apartments can be bothersome to a dog owner, especially if they are over 30 pounds. This complex allows ANY dogs of ANY size, has a dog park and a lot of areas to walk. The dogs in the community are incredibly friendly with one another as well.
Price…very affordable. I was surprised by the prices being so affordable for the quality. The pet fees are not a killer like some other places. The management is personable and quick to do their job and have been the same people for a while!
Con:
The gate. It unfortunately has had a bad time. Some of the time it’s open at night sometimes It’s back up, but regardless it should never be acceptable to those who do not stay here. The guard is not 24hrs, which with the gate issue should be.
Conclusion: excellent place for singles, couples and even families. Snowbirds and locals both love this spot. Don’t forget to pop over to the beach Boardwalk across the bridge!

I have lived in the apartment for 6 months and I love it! People are very active and nice. The location is great because it’s close to the beach, and it’s also very close to Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood boardwalk. I also love the fitness room, tennis courts and pools.
Maintenance comes really quick if something breaks so that’s a plus and people in the neighborhood are respectful and friendly.
I heard people complaining about mosquitoes, I never had that problem. I believe it’s only in certain parts of the apartment complex and it’s caused by the surroundings, there are 2 parks with canals surrounding the apartment complex.

PLEASE LISTEN TO ME, DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I never read reviews, I just moved out less than a month ago (Oct 4^th), one of the worst places I have ever moved to. They charge you for everything, there was no way I was using $ 70 a month in water. They split up the water bill for each building, but you don’t pay the water company, you pay them which means it could «inflated» for profit.
I left and the maintenance guy told me straight up: «even if there is a little dirt, they will still charge you $ 55 to clean it» so I said fuck it and swept up but nothing else.
They don’t care about wear and tear and charge you to shampoo the nasty carpet and repaint the walls ($ 139 for touch ups)
THE BUGS (No See Ums) seem like whatever at first, but you can never leave your screen or sliding door open. I couldn’t walk out without a sweater and mask to shield myself.
When I complained they told me to call the city, but as a Property Manager they did not care (they are actually salesman)
DONT BE FOOLED BY THE NICE OPEN KITCHEN, DONT MOVE HERE!!!

I had a good year here at Sheridan Ocean club until it was time to move out.
AWFUL!
As I am writing this, I am still battling illegal charges made because I apparently did not give a 60 day notice prior to my move out date. The problem is — I did! I sent an email notice to my realtor that managed my account. She sent me paperwork to fill out intentionally 10 days late. Another month passed by, and I completely by accident found out that I am being charged ridiculous fees (over a months rent), for being late with paperwork they did not provide on time. Part of the dates covered are the last 2 weeks of my last months rent, so I am apparently paying twice for those days.
After further research, I have discovered that Equity already lost a multi-​million dollar lawsuit on same charges 10 years ago. They are a SCAM!
On top of all of this, I just have to mention some of the management has been absolutely terrible, incompetent (sending paperwork late and not informing me of extra charges), and rude. Special thumbs down goes to Eric and Keisha. Good luck if you have to deal with them.

I love, love this place. I have lived in the area for over 35 years and have been looking at this complex to move in for a while and finally did it. Its quite fitting that I live here now since this used to be Pirates World were I worked at! Yes the bugs are around, if you lived in Florida, you would know that near the water, you will get the ‘no –see’ems aka gnats so I keep a can of deet spray near my front door. If the bugs get really bad like in the summer, just call mosquito control and they come out.
Maintenance here is top draw! The place is keep nicely and the office personal is always ready to help you with any questions or concerns.
This is a dog friendly complex with mostly everyone having a pet or 2. There is a great, clean fenced-​in dog park with a bar-​b-​que and picnic area and its shaded, a plus for sure!
I love the fact that I can walk to the inter-​coastal and ride my bike to the beach. There is a new Publix less then a half a mile and a Starbucks with more stores opening every month.
You are also nearby downtown Hollywood which is getting to be a place to go with great restaurants and live music up and down the blvd. Also food trucks are there every Monday night.
To wrap up, I feel like I’m living in a resort. I hope to stay here for along time!

The complex is well kept, the apartments are comfortable, the rent is reasonable, and the neighbors (around me anyway) are nice and quiet. The location is great near the beach and central location. My only complaint is the tiny bugs outside. Not the apartment complex’s fault, but the no-​see-​um (tiny flying flies) situation is bad at any time other than when the sun is out in full force. If you can deal ok with getting bug bites at times (or don’t go outside too much), then definitely take a look at this complex. If this will bother you, this may not be the right place for you to live in. I wish I could give the complex 5 stars. The staff is super nice, and the complex, amenities, and apartments are great.
The real blame for the bug situation is most likely the Hollywood/​Dania founders who apparently dug canals without adequate water flow, and created a breeding area for these horrible tiny bugs. The apartment itself is great; just what I need!

The maintenance crew has been great, the office stafff is fine too but they are so obvious and practically «beg» for good comments when Corporate sends you a survey so that’s a bit annoying. The grounds are kept well, would I like for them to cut the grass sooner at times — sure, but it’s not the end of the world and the landscaping truly is beautiful. This is a dog-​friendly community so please don’t move here if a bark or two from a neighbor will annoy you. The apartments are nice, fairly new but you get what you pay for and the paint jobs, caulking, etc. don’t show too much attention to detail but again — this place is a good value. Finally, the only real complaint I have and the main reason I would move out are the bugs in the summer. This complex is located near a nature reserve so be prepared to be eaten by mosquitoes and the like. It’s only in the summer months but that’s long enough. This is by far the worst part of living here and it’s just due to the location near the reserve. Otherwise the location is beyond convenient — mile to the beach and very close to 595, 95, and FLL airport. Overall, I haven’t had a problem that management hasn’t handled well. The mosquitoes are horrible but hey, you get what you pay for and for most places near the beach this community is a good value.

The parking is great but that’s about it. My boyfriend has lived here for a year and a half and he has had nothing but problems. While I lived here the incompetent crew they hire to «maintain» the property did not finish a single repair in the apartment. The wall STILL leaks when it rains after a year!
The renovation crew is probably unlicensed and shuts off the water to the building with no notice whenever they choose to.
By the way, the management allows the renovation crew to live in the apartment while it’s being worked on while the residents pick up the tab for the water and electric.
Don’t get me started on the rodents! YUCK!
